ISIS Airforce Takes Off, Trained By Iraqi Officers
In late August, we drew the world's attention to the fact that ISIS had acquired three fighter jets when the Iraqi military ran away. Now, six weeks later, as Reuters reports, having been trained by Iraqi pilots who have joined Islamic State, a group monitoring the war said on Friday, saying it was the first time that the militant group had taken to the air.
The group, which has seized land in Syria and Iraq, has been flying the planes over the captured al-Jarrah military airport east of Aleppo, said Rami Abdulrahman, who runs the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

"They have trainers, Iraqi officers who were pilots before for (former Iraqi president) Saddam Hussein," Abdulrahman said.
"People saw the flights, they went up many times from the airport and they are flying in the skies outside the airport and coming back," he said, citing witnesses in northern Aleppo province near the base, which is 70 km (45 miles) south of Turkey.
It was not clear whether the jets were equipped with weaponry or whether the pilots could fly longer distances in the planes, which witnesses said appeared to be MiG 21 or MiG 23 models captured from the Syrian military.

Interesting.
Here's why! During the 1999 war in Kosovo the Serbs attempted to get a MiG off the ground and have it jump some of the US fighter jets. By the time the nose was out of the hangar, the US satellites had picked it up and relayed to the USS Philippine Sea that was stationed nearby at the time that a 'target of opportunity' (or something to that effect) had appeared. By the time the MiG's tailplane had came out of the hangar, a missile from the USS Philippine Sea had been launched and smacked the MiG on the tarmac!
Although it is noted that some MiG's took off and were splashed by US fighters over Serbia, how they got airborne I do not know. Whether there was cloud cover or satellite coverage maybe?
But one thing we can deduce is that the US would have satellites pointing at EVERY ex-Iraqi Air Force or ex-Syrian Air Force hangar that is now under ISIS control, and, if any of these ISIS jihadists attempt to take off the US will know about it.
I sincerely doubt any ISIS MiGs will be jumping any US or co-alition jets.
I would question as to whether ISIS have even take to the air.
Sure, the maybe some blurring between the ISIS and Iraqi/Syrian/co-alition lines, but, the US Satellite-jocks would be working in conjunction with the US' knowledge of the Iraqis and they would be aware of every movement of a taxiing ISIS jet.
Thoughts? Anyone?
The difference is that the Serbs didn't have an operative in the Oval Office.

If you look closely at the nose, it says "Ebola Gay".
They have a fighter jet force almost half as big as, and on technical parity with, that military superpower of the Balkans, Croatia.
They would be way better off with F-5's.

I know it's not funny, but these guys are starting to make me laugh.
With every victory ISIS gains, no matter how trifling it seems or how ready some of us are to brush it off as "no big deal," they become more and more attractive to young men sympathetic to their cause. Don't doubt for minute that this won't precipitate a new wave of recruits.
All ISIS has to do is keep the show rolling. It doesn't take a terribly large or sophisticated force to bring serious headaches to Western Civilization. All it takes is a few thousand determined marauders who show no fear and are willing to inflict maximum carnage with whatever means fall into their hands.
ISIS is a cold slap of reality to those ideologically ensconced Americans who believe we are living at the End of History. We can choose either to heed the message or ignore it.
I hear ISIS has nukes. Pass it on.

ATC: "ISIS one, go ahead."
ISIS pilot: "There's a red light on my instrument panel that's flashing some sort of code, I can't make it out. Over."
ATC: "ISIS one, reach into your center console and take out the magnifying glass to read it. Over."
ISIS pilot: "Roger ATC. Uh, it says ... it says, DEPOSIT 5 DINARS IMMEDIATELY. What does that mean? Over."
ATC: "ISIS one, you have to put in a 5 dinar coin to continue flying. Over."
ISIS pilot: "ATC, say again? Over."
ATC: "ISIS one, deposit a 5 dinar coin in the slot next to the holy lever of suicide. Over."
ISIS pilot: "ATC, I don't have a 5 dinar coin. Over."
ATC: "ISIS one, you were issued two 5 dinar coins during pre-flight before wheels up. They both should be in your fanny pack. Over."
ISIS pilot: "Uh, ATC, I used one in the vending machine to buy chewing gum. Over."
ATC: "ISIS one, then use the other one. Over."
ISIS pilot: "ATC, I don't have that one either. Over."
ATC: "ISIS one, in the name of the holy prophets, where is it? Over"
ISIS pilot: "Uh ATC, I used that one to pay for a picture taken with me in my flight suit to give to my girlfriend. Over."
ATC: "You're going to crash unless you deposit 5 dinars in the slot, now! Over."
ISIS pilot: "What? Are you shitting me? Over."
ATC: "Your only option left is to pull the holy lever of suicide and go to Allah."
ISIS pilot: "Screw you, ATC. I got a parachute.”
ATC: “The parachute needed the other 5 dinar coin to work, that’s why you were given two coins. But I guess that’s not going to happen either. Over and out.”
This has happened before .
