The Pentagon Will Use 30 Person "Quick-Strike Team" To Deal With Domestic Ebola Patients

Tyler Durden's picture

President Obama may have been busy golfing this weekend, and his brand new Ebola Czar may have had more pressing matters to attend than the White House's Saturday evening meeting on the US "response to domestic Ebola cases" (because clearly the Ebola Czar is superfluous at such Ebola-related events), but that doesn't mean that the administration will once again be caught with its pants down the next time an Ebola index patient is unveiled on US soil. Nope.

In taking a page right out of America's response to the Ebola pandemic in... West Africa, where the US has dispatched several thousands troops to do, something, unclear what, earlier today, it was revealed that the U.S. military is forming a 30-person "quick-strike team", which according to CNN is "equipped to provide direct treatment to Ebola patients inside the United States, a Defense Department official told CNN's Barbara Starr on Sunday."

From CNN:

The team will be under orders to deploy within 72 hours at any time over the next month, the official said.  The Department of Health and Human Services requested the military team, and the Pentagon has given verbal approval, the official said.

The team will include five doctors, 20 nurses and five trainers, Pentagon press secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said in a statement.

The Pentagon has been working to determine what assistance it could offer the civilian health care sector following a White House meeting last week during which President Barack Obama said he wanted a more aggressive response, according to two Defense officials.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel ordered chief of the Northern Command, Gen. Chuck Jacoby, "to prepare and train a 30-person expeditionary medical support team that could, if required, provide short-notice assistance to civilian medical professionals in the United States," Kirby said.

Jacoby is already working with the military on the joint team, Kirby said, and once formed, it will head to Fort Sam Houston in Texas for up to seven days of training in infection control and personal protective equipment. The training, provided by the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, will begin "within the next week or so," Kirby said.

The team will remain in "prepare-to-deploy" status for 30 days, he said. It will be able to respond anywhere in the U.S. if "deemed prudent by our public health professionals," he said.

To summarize: the Pentagon, as in the US army, will provide direct treatment to Ebola patients.

So just how exactly is the US army's crack 30-person "SWAT" team which has a whopping 5 doctors, more competent to deal to deal with what is, at last check, a medical situation than, say, America's medical professionals? Or is, in the parlance of our times, where an "Iraq military advisor" really means crack commando fighting Syrian troops on the ground on behalf of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, "direct treatment" merely a euphemism for something far less enjoyable?

For the partial answer to some of these questions, please read "Public Health Emergency Declared In Connecticut Over Ebola: Civil Rights Suspended Indefinitely, and also "Obama Mobilizes National Guard, Army Reserves To Fight Ebola" - they serve as a good starting point for where all of this is ultimately headed.

"The Dogs Of War"

Dogs of war are men of hate
With no cause, we don't discriminate
Discovery is to be disowned
Our currency is flesh and bone
Hell opened up and put on sale
Gather 'round and haggle
For hard cash, we will lie and deceive
Even our masters don't know the web we weave
One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world
Invisible transfers, long distance calls,
Hollow laughter in marble halls
Steps have been taken, a silent uproar
Has unleashed the dogs of war
You can't stop what has begun
Signed, sealed, they deliver oblivion
We all have a dark side, to say the least
And dealing in death is the nature of the beast
One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world
The dogs of war won't negotiate
The dogs of war don't capitulate,
They will take and you will give,
And you must die so that they may live
You can knock at any door,
But wherever you go, you know they've been there before
Well winners can lose and things can get strained
But whatever you change, you know the dogs remain.
One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world

Listen Select Zero's.

Sifting through the comments one would expect "SOME" sort of outrage from The Americans. Some sort of mandate from the freedom lovers to make their "HOMELAND" secure. Some significant group that will hold the new CZAR accountable for every death henceforth.

The "PEOPLE", for and by the people.

Somewhere along the line you all opted for cheezy jokes over the more obvious fight for your lives.

Good luck Americans! The Strike Team will save you OoooRAH! Strike Team 6.

Okay, I'll give my personal response as an American.

Outrage does not work, unless you are a member of the leftist, progressive team.  And even then, it's only marginally effective.  If you are a member of the right-leaning conservative team you will immediately be labeled racist, so you see it does not work.

Me personally, I am awaiting REAL change in our political structure.

I think we may get it sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, I am prepared as best I can be and dependent upon my small circle of family and friends.

EDIT:  And yes, most here will offer up jokes.  It is their means of coping with a mind-boggling clusterfuck.  Maybe you could cut them some slack?

EDIT2:  There are members of my 'inner circle' that are left-leaning progressives that are thoroughly disenfranchised at this point with this president that they elected <twice>.  Which is why I am highly optimistic a CHANGE is coming.

They should create a 30 man team to go in and shut down the FED. Why waste their time on a domestic problem like ebola when they could quarantine Yellen, Dimon and Blankfein and then exile them; kick them the hell out of the country.

god bless americans and america. what other country could mobilize 30 people, just 30 people to handle a pandemic in a nation as large and populated as the usa. it is a testament to the exceptionalism of the usa and the exceptional americans that this exceptional team will save the usa! why, it would take at least a thousand brits and ten thousand frenchmen to do the same thing.

Translation:

Get anywhere near us in Washington, NYC, Berkeley, "Ferguson" and we will sink you like a 3 foot put!  Just let us start our World War, crash the market(s) without any interference or resistance and do as we tell you to do -when we tell you to do it, like the obedient well mannered slaves that you all are, and we won't do very bad things to you and yours!... At least not right away!!... Keep telling yourselves that everything will be a "peach" just like the last 10 years have shown you?!!!

Question everyone should be asking themselves?...

Go to your grave in a struggle you never asked for facing any one or all of these lousy choice(s) which all carry a bad ending? Or die with a conviction you never possessed before in your life to change it for the better before it's too late for everyone that will follow you?!!!

Today the SWAT force will be providing assistance to hospitals. On Friday (Friday dump) the task will change to helping to preemptively collect those whom they claim have been in contact with the sick.

Not sure what preemptorily collect means? You will.

Your neighbors are likely to cheer as you're dragged off. When you don't come back, they will assume you were too sick to survive.

Obama has this thing figured out.

Well, 30 infected will be easier to bring back into the states at a time than a platoon of 70 or 80 men. Plus, if there's a high mortality rate, it's easier to lose 30 people than a larger troop mass. Here's this one as well:

http://www.globalresearch.ca/a-liberian-scientist-claims-the-u-s-is-resp...

The "Ebola outbreak" is fake for two reasons: 1. It is not classic Ebola, showing any classic symptoms at all, as evidenced by the lack of photos, and 2. If it can only be contracted via a shot compliments of the Red Cross or other scammers, it is not an outbreak. It is an act of war.

“People in the Western World need to know what’s happening here in West Africa. THEY ARE LYING!!! “Ebola” as a virus does NOT Exist and is NOT “Spread”. The Red Cross has brought a disease to 4 specific countries for 4 specific reasons and it is only contracted by those who receive treatments and injections from the Red Cross. That is why Liberians and Nigerians have begun kicking the Red Cross out of their countries and reporting in the news the truth. Now bear with me:"

But, but, the USA would never do bioterrorism experiments on innocent civilians... Like spraying radioactive material on black people in St. Louis, or purposefully infecting latin american countries with siphilis...

Well I hope they have a mobile BSL-4 unit equipped with a complete diagnostic laboratory so they can run an extensive battery of tests around the clock to determine the types and extents of ebola virus transmissions.  How is this virus shed and in what concentrations?  This should be a dynamic learning laboratory that hopefully can shed some light on the characteristics of this strain of ebola.  Will this be done?  I doubt it....

Cast your mind back to the deadly SARS epidemic in 2003 and swine flu outbreak in 2009.

What you might not know is that Big Data and technology helped to stop the spread of the diseases. How?

Through the use of thermal imaging cameras, or “scanners,” that are present inside airports across the world – including Hong Kong, Incheon Airport in South Korea, and Changi Airport in Singapore.

It’s similar to the movie, Predator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger…

There Are No Accidents In The Universe – and Ebola is no accident.  I suspect  that we (as in ‘the World’) may be heading for a once-in-an-Epoch event or series of events  that could devastate planet Earth. An uncontrollable  outbreak of Ebola may just be the icing on the cake of nuclear conflict, violent civil protest, massive geological events and a total World-wide systemic  economic collapse.

Welcome to World Karma.

Many of you will accept the casually stated ‘what goes around comes around’ but fail to understand this is a pale reflection of the Iron Law of Karma  i.e. ‘you get exactly & precisely what you deserve’. And that applies at a personal, national and world level.

There is *no escape from Karma and no excuse for ignorance of it. Ancient British Common Law  is another reflection of a greater truth when it states that ‘ignorance of the law is no excuse’.

So what brought us to this? Easy:   Ignorance  and greed and selfishness and madness. But most of all, ignorance at many levels  including the ignorance of who we are and what we are (in potential if not actuality).

And for the bible-bashers out there, God, who you think is sitting on your shoulder listening to your every word, is unlikely to help you. God is beyond human mind and comprehension.  God, we may assume, initiated the drama of creation, set the Law of Karma in motion, gave us free will and left us to work it out and cop the consequences.

So we could be in for an interesting ride, starting about now.

Because our lives are lies,  all lies. Suck it up.

* anyone correct me here?

                                                                            "Throwing Stones"

Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
Dizzy with eternity.
Paint it with a skin of sky, brush in some clouds and sea
Call it home for you and me.
A peaceful place or so it looks from space
A closer look reveals the human race.
Full of hope, full of grace, is the human face.
But afraid, we may lay our home to waste.
There's a fear down here we can't forget hasn't got a name just yet
Always awake, always around singing ashes to ashes all fall down.
Now watch as the ball revolves and the nighttime calls
And again the hunt begins and again the bloodwind calls
By and by again, the morning sun will rise
But the darkness never goes from some men's eyes.
It strolls the sidewalks and it rolls the streets
Stalking turf, dividing up meat.
Nightmare spook, piece of heat, you and me, you and me.
Click, flashblade in ghetto night. Rudies looking for a fight.
Rat cat alley roll them bones. Need that cash to feed that jones
And the politicians throwing stones
Singing ashes, ashes all fall down.
Commissars and pin-striped bosses role the dice
Any way they fall guess who gets to pay the price.
Money green or proletarian gray, selling guns instead of food today.
So the kids they dance, they shake their bones
While the politicians throwing stones
Singing ashes, ashes all fall down.
Heartless powers try to tell us what to think
If the spirit's sleeping, then the flesh is ink.
History's page, it is thusly carved in stone
The future's here, we are it, we are on our own.
If the game is lost then we're all the same
No one left to place or take the blame.
We will leave this place an empty stone
Or this shinning ball of bule we can call our home
So the kids they dance, they shake their bones
While the politicians are throwing stones
Singing ashes, ashes all fall down.
Shipping powders back and forth
Singing "black goes south while white comes north"
And the whole world full of petty wars
Singing "I got mine and you got yours."
And the current fashions set the pace.
Lose your step, fall out of grace.
And the radical he rant and rage, Singing "someone got to turn the page"
And the rich man in his summer home,
Singing "Just leave well enough alone"
But his pants are down, his cover's blown
And the politicians are throwing stones
So the kids they dance they shake their bones
Cause its all too clear we're on our own
Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
It's dizzying, the possibilities. Ashes, Ashes all fall down.

Consider...Liberia has 4.4 million people; in the last 20-30 years under the guise of "compassion" the US has imported/immigrated 1.2 MILLION Liberians meaning that almost 25% of the population of Liberia now lives in the US. Each Liberian has enough relatives that Every Single Liberian is not up for "family reunification" immigration status. At what point do entire countries relocating here destroy your children's future by deconstructing and replacing the Christian European culture of the US? Stop all immigration, now! Then add the Somalis and on and on and on...anyone but European whites can now immigrate to the US.

Translation: You stupid white people must not have a country of your own even though there are fewer of you than any other group on the planet: China..1.3 BILLION, Africans...1.2 Billion, Latins...1.2 BILLION...whites? Around 400 million Worldwide!

It must be skin color, since Liberia is 85% Christian, and actually Liberia gathered 700,000 signatures for striking the secular language of the 1986 constitution imposed by CIA stooge Chuck Taylor... Come to think of it, next to proposing a gold standard, that would be damn good reason for having unleashed the Great West African Hoax virus on the Liberians...

These poor fuckers. They're being sent to their death.

The 101st Airborne is a U.S. Army modular light infantry division trained for air assault operations. The division was renowned for its role on D-Day. Major General David H. Petraeus (“Eagle 6?) led the Screaming Eagles to war in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The administration says they won’t need them.
Nashville Public Radio reported:

Troops from the 101st Airborne Division leading the military response to Ebola in West Africa will only need gloves and masks to protect themselves from the deadly virus, so said Gen. David Rodriguez at a Pentagon briefing Wednesday.

“They don’t need the whole suit – as such – because they’re not going to be in contact with any of the people,” the commander of U.S. troops in Africa said.

Soldiers from the 101st Airborne will primarily be building hospitals, ultimately leading what could be a contingent of 4,000 American service members. They’ll be housed either in tent cities at military airfields or in Liberian Ministry of Defense facilities, Rodriguez said.

Soldiers’ health will be monitored through surveys and taking their temperature on their way in and out of camps. If a service member does get sick, Rodriguez said they will be flown home immediately for treatment.

That said, construction in a full MOPP suit is a bit "unrealistic" (read pure moonbattery).

For the tyranny conspiracy theory debunkers out there, what part of “swat team” do you not understand?

“What I have directed the CDC to do is that as soon as somebody is diagnosed with Ebola then we want a rapid response team, a SWAT team essentially, from the CDC, to be on the ground as quickly as possible. Hopefully within 24 hours”.

Interesting bet made by economist prof here: that Ebola won't turn into pandemic.

But prof David B. Collum (quoted here by ZeroHedge annually for his economic reports) says:

"It is marvelous that an economist is willing to make such a bet. Unfortunately, such an existential risk of admittedly unknown probability is worthy of more consideration.

As chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology I have no more direct insight into this disease than you, Professor Kaplan. I do, however, appear to have a greater respect for what it is I do not yet understand. I also have access to biochemists, and a non-trivial number are not as confident as you. Try reading The Great Influenza. You will quickly realize that not only did 100 million people die worldwide in six months but that modern medicine would not have saved them.

The doubling time for Ebola is running around 3 weeks. Maybe it has already turned down. Nonetheless, economists are as qualified as any group to understand the miracles of compounding.

I will not take your bet because I can either lose the bet or win the bet; either way I lose. To call us conspiracy theorists, however, illustrates the breadth of your imagination. The term conspiracy theorist is designed to shut down open debate. Sorry. It hasn't worked on me. The term is repugnant.

Sincerely
David B. Collum"

There are too many "variable variables", so the forecasting problem is comparable to "very accurate long-range weather forecasting" which is an oxymoron.

We can use current data to "predict", but reasonable, let alone accurate, prediction is entirely dependent on accurate data - "garbage in = garbage out".

In view of developments (and in the knowledge that accurate infection reportage from many "hot spots" may be "less than truthful" for a variety of reasons, economic, logistical, or political), it is very difficult to provide much more than guesstimates.

The problem is, even these maybe "wild" guesstimated paint a very unsettling future, as the Winter months for the most populated hemisphere approach.

Kaplan apparently believes everything is quantifiable in some sense, but Collum is right.  There are things we simply do not know and have no way of knowing (like mutation rates in fact rather than modelled rates, and virulence of those mutations, to name but two).  He also does not know what information, if any, is being actively withheld from him.  It seems reasonable to me to think we're not being told the entire truth, since the incentives of power mongers are to keep their motives and information secret.  Not just knowledge, but information is also power; so it's not a "conspiracy theory" just the natural workings of incentives--something Kaplan should understand well, but has apparently forgotten or conveniently ignored.

Kaplan's wager in this case is similar to Pascal's wager.  In Pascal's case, the idea was that belief in God, while unprovable, was a wise thing to do.  The potential payoff, if true, was eternal bliss, while cost if not true was zero.  Thus, the expected (weighted average) payoff was essentially infinite.

For Kaplan, the cost of making the bet for him is essentially zero.  If he's wrong, he's dead and does not have to pay.  If he's right, he gets bragging rights and a bit of fame.  Not exactly an infinite payoff, but it will have to do, I suppose.

Good news is that if the government(s) have been involved this long at weaponizing it, you can be sure that guys like this with the "clip board" (this one faked or not) have off-the-shelf remedies once "patient 0" has been identified by his iPhone handle -down to the details of what strain they are carrying and how to inoculate the staff treating them!

One thing is for certain....

Why was Connecticut the first state to institute Medical Martial Law?
http://www.thedailysheeple.com/connecticut-becomes-first-state-to-suspen...
They have zero cases in Connecticut, yet they pass this draconian act!

Obama is forming 30 man Medical Swat Teams to deal with "outbreaks"
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-10-19/pentagon-will-use-30-person-qui...

Theory: Connecticut passed gun registration laws that had huge non compliance in January...Is this a color-of-law pretext, shore story for confiscation of those who refused to register under Connecticut's draconian gun registration law??  All they would have to say is "We have a report that Mr Gotbig Clip has symptoms of ebola...."
