We watched in horror as somebody fell over the railing from 2nd floor, the show didn't miss a beat..

Love him or hate him, there isn't anything like Zappa these days. The conspiracy probably was started by Lou Reed...he was a Zappa basher and said anybody could play guitar like him with a little practice. (just kidding but reed did trash talk him something he likely regrets unless he's dead?)

When I did my service time, it was a draftee army. The President, the Generals, nor the officer corps would even imagine that the Army could be used to suppress civilian dissent. The bulk of the Army saw themselves as "citizens in uniform", fulfilling an obligation to our country; but not "married" to the Army. Our leadership knew that ordering the Army to put down an insurrection would be unthinkable. That would have to be done by police forces and -worst case- by the draft dodgers and slackers that comprised the National Guard.
The draft has been gone for 40 years now. The army of today is isolated from most of the citizens, and -from what I can surmise- carries a belief that they are under-appreciated by the majority of the citizenry, and believe that many citizens advocate political beliefs and moral values which are very different from those in the military and their immediate families.
I can envision that today's military would view their countrymen as "the other", and would readily follow orders to impose martial law over Americans, no matter how obvious that such an act would be a clear violation of the Constitution, and that their oath to defend the Constitution should impel them to mutiny against the government that ordered them to do so.
the oss/cia has always been the brains of the military and the armed forces the 'body'. the body is a hammer and anvil. it is the tool of the brains.

Dude was ok from the time he met Captain Beefheart as a fellow student in in class I think high school. And anyone that looks like Uncle Remus can't be all bad either. Had a black Labradoodle looked just like him. The trouble with people today is that they don't realise they are a culmination of electro-chemical impulses interacting simultaneously at any given moment. Many of the impulses are misunderstood if even ever noticed.
