Let’s face it, your child’s mind is fertile ground for oligarchs, corrupt politicians and any other thieving member of the so-called “ruling elite” who aim to enslave the masses both mentally and monetarily. Unfortunately, the propaganda that comes from the government and our largest corporations is perceived as being absolute truth by most people. If you’re like me, at one point in time you had to wake up to it all and accept that you had been completely brainwashed for the first few decades for your life.
On a parental level, defending my child’s mind against blatant lies and deceit from the media, military industrial complex and corporatism is really not that difficult. But what about their grandparents, cousins or the kids next door?
I truly believe that most Americans suffer from Stockholm Syndrome, a psychological phenomenon where the victim identifies with the attacker to the point they will even defend their captor and even treat certain forms of abuse as a form of compassion.
We see this everywhere; especially around election time, where the voters defend all kinds of atrocities and criminal actions by our elected officials.
The mobs, of course, love the abuse and crimes against humanity. They probably even feel patriotic if the guy committing the crimes is of the same political affiliation they identify with.
When I am home with the kids, observing this type of behavior is easy to discuss – right and wrong is sort of natural for the kids. It’s the adults in their lives who inject a lot of bad philosophy into their lives and unfortunately for most of us reading this blog, the adults have some influence in our children’s lives.
I feel like I have to tread carefully. I mean I am talking about people I love very much: grandparents, neighbors, cousins, uncles…pretty much everyone in our lives. You would think that a non-violent philosophy focused on respecting other people and not forcing your will against others would be universally accepted, but in reality it’s not.
There’s a certain program that pretty much everyone follows. We nearly all accept the lie that every American soldier’s death was to defend our freedoms; that drugs, prostitution and other consensual acts are bad and should be outlawed. That Muslims are violent, that war is good for the economy and America has a free market system. Our society idolizes some of our biggest criminals. In fact, the bigger the crime, the more you are treated as a legend in many circles.
I often get frowns from my friends and family when I openly teach my children about the immoral aspects of government, or how we should be kind to others, even Iranians!
Sometimes the philosophy of respect can make you the oddball, and as a parent the last thing I want to do is make my kids feel weird or be treated like outcasts.
Ultimately, my children will have to make their own choices. I can’t expect them to go against the crowd like I have, but in the meantime I will defend their minds. Not by shutting out the people we love or the millions of Americans who suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. Rather, as a father I will give them real choices: the choice between violence and volunteerism, and the choice between discriminating against other people because of imaginary borders and superficial differences and respecting others.

When mine was small, before electronic gadgets (Do you believe that... there was a time before all the electro-trash!) we were at the grocery store and he was sitting in the cart while I was unloading from the front. The lady in line behind us was standing there with he mouth open looking shocked. So I looked up to see what he was doing and he had his hands down his pants playing with his dink, tongue out of his mouth, drooling.
Beats the shit out of an electronic device any day.

Private schools near me in NJ have their share of talented kids, but a lot of spoiled brats with drug habits funded by rich parents. Home schooling doesn't cut it unless you honestly are an amazing couple with lots of wonderful friends, contacts, connections, which for most people is just not the case.
What do you recommend? Surrender to the public schools? No way!

I suspect that Private Schools brainwash even harder than Public Schools. Private means most often Patriotic and Main Stream American, where the Empire is promoted, and our troops are worshiped. Where the idea is to get these kids into the elite banker classes, not attack the crony capitalism of the Main Stream Economy.
Private Schools are there to get your kids fully integrated into the top 10%, who slavishly follow government dictates, and hope the kid can compete his way into the top 10% of the top 10%.
Certain universities and scholarships were developed by the wealthy for the selection and molding of the chosen (because of their ability to be molded and to accept the programming) so they can perpetuate the agenda.
Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar and his mentor was Quigley who wrote a book titled Tragedy and Hope, which is based on Quigley's access to the library in the CFR. You can download the book. I doubt that is the case with religious-based private schools. Depends on where you live too. I am from Ohio and there are good public schools in the suburbs, which we tried, but opted for private schools for our 4 children. You go down south and the public schools tend to suck from what I hear and most MC and upper MC send their children to private schools.
We are not talking Sidwell Friends or Eaton.

Really? We have homeschooled our kids and put them in private inexpensive homeschooling co-ops when they were older..and they are smart, educated and talented and have entered Virginia Tech and ODU wih honors.
Virginia is a great place to homeschool your kids. You just have to prove the accredition of the school to the state .gov. Small price to pay for the bullshit the public schools give them.

Maybe Yes? Parents involved in that continue to have to learn, kids get the point that developing their brain is maybe not optional. I vote we give it a try; our current system of outsourcing the job to the state is an abysmal failure.
I once worked with a guy who homie schooled his kids. The guy was really slow and not smart. I felt bad for his kids even though I never met them.
The early years are the most important.
Well, his kids were probably dull as well. Better to have good, well-manner and compliant worker bees that know their place in society than the alternative that public schools spit out. Where did I err in parenting? No TV like never, no reliance on public school for anything, Homer, Livy and Pliny since age seven. SATs all maxed up. Ivy, done. Magna Cum Laude. Presently in grad school (worldwide #1 in the field). Yet, no comprehension of the world outside, no street smarts, no interest in anything but LOL. I truly believe the millennials can't be helped.

Probably the two best things you can do for your children is to provide a consistent example to them and show that you love them. Nothing else can do more than that. Oh and don't say winning the lottery or inheriting wealth from the distant uncle can make your life easier.

You should talk to my kids, you'd be impressed. They've gone through public schools. It depends on where you live because some schools are full of very trashy kids (rotten influence) but we live in a very nice area and I can still say the following:
• Way too much "sex education" in elementary school. The stories you hear about guest educators bringing condoms and dildos for 6 year olds to learn about, not as sensational as it seems. I recall when our kids were in 2nd or 3rd grade they were laying this talk on them.
• You have to fight off the school health system which pushes for every vaccine under the sun. No vaccine is too much for public schools. We did vaccinate our kids through about 5 years old but after that I refused to keep pumping them up with "booster" shots. You have to send schools a letter or just ignore their pleas for more vaccines in your kids.
• Beware of the angry jewish social studies teacher. We've had our share of those. How they have a job I know not but they're the worst. Your kid will endure months of guilt-for-slavery leactures, guest speakers come with phony stories of lampshades and soap factories from the nazi, more nazi lectures, daily nazi reminders, extra points to go see the latest nazi hollywood reminder movie, once a week show a PBS show about holocost, never talk about palesttinians just discuss the poor persecuted kind and helpless jews in israel, do another unit about slavery, back to nazis. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
• Take advantage of the sports programs. I have been very impressed with the coaches who give their time with after school sports. Wrestling, cross country, track, soccer. I can't imagine my kids today without their participation in all the sports.
• Public schools here have great science labs and interesting science teachers. Take advantage of that.
• Trades are taught here in high school. Welding, auto mechanics, wood shop. Great opportunity for your kids.
• Pay attention to the assemblies. I've found that the schools have very poor judgement on who is invited to speak at school assemblies. We had some guy come in and do an "anti bully" talk and it gave my kids nightmares. Scared the crap out of them. I think the anti bully talk creates more bullies. You have to followup with your kids and tell them a new perspective anytime a bully issue comes up.
I do spend a lot of time talking to my kids about what they learned, and I give them my own perspective. It's all good.

H. G. Wells once wrote a short book, based upon the old Greek adage: "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king". Book name: The Country of the Blind, 1904.
The protagonist is a mountaineer who slips and falls down an unclimbable slope into a remote and inaccessible valley in Ecuador, where he finds a population that suffers from a disease causing universal blindness in infants. He believes he has a huge advantage over the unsighted, and sets out to teach and rule them. But he finds failure at every turn, the population reinforces each other in their beliefs, and treat our sighted hero as if he were just a crazy man. They don't believe in this bizarre sense called "sight".
Eventually our hero caves in, and tries to just blend in. He gets a day job, falls in love with his boss's daughter, who dismisses his rantings as imagination. When he goes to marry the girl, he isn't approved by the village elders, who recommend he have his eyes removed, in hopes that he might cease suffering from his evident delusions. He consents, as this seems the best option available to him for future happiness.
On the day of the scheduled operation, he has second thoughts and runs away, attempting to find some passage out of the valley. In the original book ending, he gets lost and dies in the wilderness. In a revised ending done 30 years later, Wells has the hero spot an impending avalanche poised above the village. He tries to warn them, is unsuccessful, but escapes the valley with his blind girlfriend. The village gets wiped out by the avalanche.
Wells seems to be saying:
I've tried to use this story in educating (somewhat a process of subverting from the mainstream) my niece. My recommendation to her has been to find a way to be "sighted" in the land of the "blind", but in a fashion that doesn't ruffle feathers or cause friction. She won't be successful at ruling, will be able to rescue at best a close few, will run the risk her whole life of knowing and seeing too much, and will have to harden herself to millions of stubbed toes by those surrounding her. But the truth is there to be known, and given one life to spend, best to do it embracing truth and reality as a societal outlier, rather than be just yet one more sheep. There are advantages to being sighted, such as stepping out of the way of an avalanche, but being and thinking differently also comes with costs.

*Teach them to be self-sufficient (Hunt [Bow & firearms], trap, fish, camp, forage, grow, husbandry)
You're there to make sure they survive and succeed not be their friend. If they love you too all the better. I think the author's point here is more about freedom vs statism of any form. The 'radical' big-government left is just one side of the same Statist coin, with the other side being big-government neocon corporatism and widespread cronyism.

When it comes to abuse of others, I marvel at the huge discrepancy in social tolerance between the physical and psychological. We get up in arms on issues of abortion, stem cell research, death panels, cosmetic surgery, and anything to do with human rights to control physiology and physical existence. But, when it comes to psychological manipulation almost any amount of spin, advertising, propaganda, deception, lying, and invasion of privacy is tolerated, and thus rampant everywhere. We excuse it all with convenient statements like, “Buyer Beware”, even though it is easily more damaging to quality of life than physical manipulation.
Americans are all much more eaten up by propaganda than they can even fathom. One proof: utter, in front of any American, the word "Marxism" and you'll instantly see him run around shrieking "commie, commie, commie!".
Note that in 99,9% of the cases, he doesn't have a clue about what on dear earth Marxism or Statism are (he even thinks Hillary Clinton is a Marxist-Statist), but he knows one thing, it's baaad.
