The Story Changes: Ebola Is Now "Aerostable" And Can Remain On Surfaces For 50 Days

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Snyder of The End of the American Dream blog,

When it comes to Ebola, the story that the government is telling us just keeps on changing.  At first, government officials were claiming that it was very difficult to spread the Ebola virus.  Some of them were even comparing it to HIV.  We were given the impression that we had to have “direct contact” with someone else’s body fluids in order to have any chance of catching the virus.  But of course that is not true at all.  Now authorities are admitting that Ebola is “aerostable”, that it can be “spread through droplets”, and that it can remain on surfaces for up to 50 days.  That is far different information than we have been getting up until this point.  So that means when they were so confidently declaring that they know exactly how Ebola spreads they were lying to us.

On October 24th, a 33 page document was released by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and in that document it is admitted that Ebola is “aerostable”.  WND was one of the first news outlets to report on this…

The information was contained in a 33-page report released Oct. 24 by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the Department of Defense’s Combat Support Agency for countering weapons of mass destruction.

The agency report states “preliminary studies indicate that Ebola is aerostable in an enclosed controlled system in the dark and can survive for long periods in different liquid media and can also be recovered from plastic and glass surfaces at low temperatures for over 3 weeks.”

The report says the government is seeking technologies for the “rapid disinfection” of Ebola, including an aerosol version of the virus.

“The technology must prove effective against viral contamination either deposited as an aerosol or heavy contaminated combined with body fluids,” reads the solicitation document.

You can view the document for yourself right here.

So is there any difference between “aerostable” and “airborne”?

That is a very good question.

Meanwhile, the CDC has finally come out and publicly admitted that Ebola “is spread through droplets”.

In other words, it can be spread by a cough or a sneeze.

On the CDC website, it now says the following

“A person might also get infected by touching a surface or object that has germs on it and then touching their mouth or nose.”

Well, that certainly does not sound like “direct contact” to me.

And once someone has coughed or sneezed, the virus can live on a surface for a very long time.

In fact, authorities in the UK now tell us that Ebola can survive on a glass surface for up to 50 days

The number of confirmed Ebola cases passed the 10,000 mark over the weekend, despite efforts to curb its spread.

And while the disease typically dies on surfaces within hours, research has discovered it can survive for more than seven weeks under certain conditions.

During tests, the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) found that the Zaire strain will live on samples stored on glass at low temperatures for as long as 50 days.

All of this directly contradicts what the CDC website has been telling us…

“To get Ebola, you have to directly get body fluids (like pee, poop, spit, sweat, vomit, semen, breast milk) from someone who has Ebola in your mouth, nose, eyes or through a break in your skin or through sexual contact.”

It turns out that is not even close to the truth.

And even as Obama boldly proclaims that there will not be an Ebola pandemic in the United States, the actions that his administration is currently taking suggest otherwise.

For example, we have just learned that the federal government has ordered 250,000 hazmat suits and is sending them to Dallas

A manager with a major shipping company has exclusively revealed to Infowars that the U.S. government has ordered 250,000 Hazmat suits to be sent to Dallas, the location of the first Ebola outbreak in the United States.

The manager of the shipping company proved his credentials to Infowars by providing a photo ID and sending a verified email from the company account, but wishes to remain anonymous due to understandable fears that he could be fired for revealing the information.

“I just learned we have been asked to ship 250,000 HAZMAT suits to Dallas, TX. for the US Government. Again this is happening today, we are pulling these suits for the US Government to Dallas, TX,” states the individual, who manages the drivers who work for the shipping company.

Why in the world would the Obama administration buy so many hazmat suits if everything was under control?

It doesn’t make sense.

Is this Ebola outbreak much more of a potential threat than they are telling us?

Insurance companies sure seem to think so.  In fact, many of them are now specifically excluding Ebola from their policies…

Remember the promise of universal health care with Obamacare, with no refusal for ‘pre-existing conditions’? It looks like your insurance company may not have to cover you if you get Ebola. U.S. and British insurance companies have begun writing Ebola exclusions into standard policies to cover hospitals, event organizers, and other businesses vulnerable to local disruptions.

While it is estimated that expenditures to treat the original Dallas Ebola patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, were approximately $100,000 an hour (though he passed anyway), it looks like insurance companies won’t be footing the bill.

President Obama originally refused to set up travel restrictions in and out of West Africa, too, even though the governments latest scare tactics and the CDC’s ineptitude have resulted in insurance companies creating new policies which exclude Ebola care. Renewals will also become costlier for companies opting to insure business travel to West Africa or to cover the risk of losses from quarantine shutdowns at home.

The American people deserve the truth.

I can understand the desire to keep people calm, but giving the public a false sense of security isn’t going to do anyone any good, and it might end up making this crisis much, much worse.

It is important for people to know how easily this virus spreads so that they can take appropriate measures to protect themselves and their families.  Since June, approximately 400 health workers have caught this virus, and about 230 of them have died.  These workers take extreme precautions to avoid getting Ebola.  If this virus did not spread easily, this would not be happening.

If our politicians and the mainstream media are not going to tell us the truth, then we are going to have to keep one another informed.

Yeah but the problem here is that the "experts" are lying, half-bright pieces of shit.

We know that Obama doesn't know his ass from a bunsen burner but that's not really his job.  But there is no excusing Frieden.  Fauci too has acted the idiot for weeks on end, but last weekend he appeared and made some intelligent, educated sounds with his mouth.  I note that both have disappeared since the invisible Ron Klain was immaculated.

And I saw the UCLA hospital staff bragging about their ebola drill three weeks in, STILL wearing just face shields and not full coverage because that was still the CDC standard at that point - changed three days later.  But were NONE of them smart enough or responsible enough to act on their own in advance of that?  OMG.

If ebola were like 2% more transmissible than it now appears it is, we'd all be dead about now ... except that then it would probably have wiped out Africa and half of mankind a dozen times in the last thousand years, too, and apparently that has never happened - at least not in the last 10,000 years or more.  Maybe it *did* happen a few times earlier than that.  That's biology for ya.

Why do you think Klain has been quiet ?

No lawyer is going to make public statements that will used against him in the near future.

His silence, in particular, is the signal to panic.

Ebola Czar Ron Klain is speaking quite loudly through his politicized actions, rather than his words. He is obviously behind the decision to remove the reference to "droplets can spread ebola" from the CDC website.

The man is a career political sycophant and cannot allow the masses to panic before the mid term elections.

I heard a homeland security guy on the radio yesterday. He said one of the things we can do to control obola is to control illegal immigration - by using a employer security check. Thats right, this guy was pushing another RealID we all have to submit to in order to find out if we are illegal.

Not a new idea, just using current fear mongering to justify another encroachment on freedom. Like the carbon tax and the "by-the-mile" car tax, TPTB have tried for years to increase the control grid to get us one step closer to their NWO police state dream.

They know damn well who is here illegaly and who is a risk of transmitting diseases. And they won't do anything to stop it. Similar to the airport naked body scanners & granny groping, they look for excuses to make money for the corrupt oligarchs and make the innocent citizen's life more difficult while ensuring the original problem remains forever unsolved.

It's the loss of control your freaked out about, and no is looking or gives a shit, your feeling useless, a nobody, used up, and could very soon lose your way, be all alone, out of fuel, out of reason. and if you keep this up for 3 days, you will look as hidious as you sound.

well, one can either parrot/mock the current party-lines, or do some research for deeper information before forming opinions,

The U.S. military-industrial complex’s interest in race-specific bio-weapons as a tool of warfare is not a paranoid conspiracy theory – it’s outlined in their own public documents.

“Advanced forms of biological warfare that can target specific genotypes may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a politically useful tool,” stated the September 2000 Rebuilding America’s Defenses report released by the Project For A New American Century – the ideological framework of the Bush administration.

In 2006, Armed Forces Journal, a mouthpiece for the military-industrial complex, carried a military strategy plan written by retired Major Ralph Peters which called for “ethnic cleansing” to be instituted in the Middle East so that the region could easily be dominated by the joint interests of Israel and the United States.

there is copious amounts of "information" to sift through "out there" if one seeks to be informed - I like to investigate a few differing angles, and then watch how the story plays out over time. . .

So, if Dr. Spencer sneezed or coughed while he was on the subway, how many millions of people have been potentially exposed to the virus in the past week? The true panic will begin when a newly diagnosed patient is asked, "Have you travelled to West Africa recently? "...This is Mother Nature doing her very best to eradicate the cancer known as humanity that it well can..."

Scientists: Humans are 'an infection' and Ebola is Earth's immune response to consume all the human 'meat'

...In a sense, the earth is mounting an immune response against the human species. It is beginning to react to the human parasite, the flooding infection of people, the dead spots of concrete all over the planet, the cancerous rot-outs in Europe, Japan and the United States, thick with replicating primates [i.e. humans], the colonies enlarging and spreading and threatening to shock the biosphere with mass extinctions.

Perhaps the biosphere does not "like" the idea of five billion humans [written in 1994]. Or it could also be said that the extreme amplification of the human race, which has occurred only in the past hundred years or so, has suddenly produced a very large quantity of meat, which is sitting everywhere in the biosphere and may not be able to defend itself against a life form that might want to consume it...

Considering that the earth is a water planet, perhaps it's time to give the dolphins a crack at running things.

There is a reason that investment decisions are based on expected value and not probability. But .guv's ebola policy gambles on favorable probabilities and so is just another example of stupidity through prog politics. Their ideas are typically catastrophic to the citizenry, but rarely so to all in real time. With ebola, they're hell bent on changing that.

In risk management terms, it isn't the chance of a random person contracting ebola that's the problem, but the economic resources that are consumed to prevent their mortality when they do. Any failure by these turds to control the ebola "chain reaction" that this BSL-4 virus demonstrates in Africa, and it's a race between the exponential function and the linear number of times our health care system can summon the 6 - 7 cash figures it takes to cure each patient.

Right now, our only real strategic option is to buy time by implementing policies that stretch the time constant on the spread of this bug. Treatment resources at the level of care required to successfully handle ebola are limited. Of course, the government shysters in charge at this time have us headed in the opposite direction and are taking decisions that'll help catalyze the spread of this disease. I'm not paranoid either, I just don't like shitty math guided by wishful thinking. But as progs are running the show, nothing but piss poor logic and fairyland mathematics can be demonstrated.

So, here's the deal, and I am not being alarmist. Ebola is more stable in cooler environments. The cooler it is, the longer it remains viable. In Africa, which is hot and sunny, they virus does not have a chance to live a long time. The virus will be much more stable in North America during the winter for the same reason the flu sean hits during these months.

So the brain trust in the government deliberately brings the virus into North America as temperatures drop and virus killing ultra-violet radiation decreases. There is a chance, therefore, this virus could become endemic to North America. It just needs to find a zoonotic host.

I hope the virus burns itself out, but the refusal of US authorities to at least restrict casual and non-essential trave to and from countries with the epidemic a very strange, to say the least.

Fascinating article on VT claiming that a passenger of African decent vomitted all over several passengers and was then asked to clean it up himself and released by the airline to continue his travel. Went on the claim that the virus is being deliberately imported into the States presumably (my thoughts) to bring about conditions for the implementation of martial law.

I have stated multiple times that it is inevitable that a terrorist group would infiltrate the the US and start deliberately infecting its citizens and there is no bigger terrorist group in the world than the US government CIA, FBI, Mossad. MI5. Imagine how many bombings and assinations around the world organised by these groups. It'd leave you cold.

Interesting views from many ZH contributors that this Ebola outbreak is fake, hyped, overblown and then comparisons made to the number of deaths from malaria, flu, car crashes.

Thing is, Ebola is an unknown. We know malaria kills millions but also know they are mainly black Africans who are klilled so of course the westeren world doesn't give a fuck about that. We know flu kills hundreds of thousands per year but mainly the elderly so of course noone really gives a fuck about that. Car crashes, well, what's 30,000 people a year in the States between friends and hey, we all need to drive and fortunately everyone of us is a better than average driver so it won't happen to us.

Ebola though, this is an unknown and it kills anyone. Young and healthy and western and white and upper class with a good share portfolio, two cars and a big house. So to say Ebola is over hyped, I don't agree. It has the potential to turn into a pandemic and this is all that matters. It has the potential to kill millions of white people world wide and that is all that matters. Humans thrive on fear like this. Ever watched a scary movie, we love it.

I'm not claiming the government is not going to try and capitalise on this fear, of course they will and medical marshall law is not far off I think. However, just because there have been only 5,000 deaths (allegedly) so far, just imagine that there is a pandemic one day that kills a couple of billion people, it had to start with it's first 20,000 deahs reported as 5,000 deaths also.

Someone on one of these threads said they'd eat their underwear if Ebola turns out to be a real threat and I'm glad because this would at least make up for the millions of deaths (potential). Hey come on, seeing someone actually have to tear strips off their underwear and eat it would be pretty funny.

BOTA, that's a big bunch of apples and oranges.

(In the order you listed them)

Malaria is preventable and curable.  With drugs, the survival rate jumps to 80–85 percent. Children under the age of 5, adults with weakened immune systems, and people who have no access to health care are the most at risk. (WHO)

Flu Week will tell you the odds of getting the flu is 1 in 8.  The odds of dying from influenza is 1 in 345,100.

In 2013 there were over 3.8 million crash injuries requiring medical attention. Only 35,200 people died in US traffic accidents. (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) So your chance of dying from injuries sustained in a wreck is around 1 percent.

Now, lets look at Ebola.  The WHO in a recent PBS Newshour story states Ebola has a 70.8 percent mortality rate.

So, if you catch Malaria and can see a doctor, you will almost certainly live.  If you get into an automobile accident, you will almost certainly live.  If you catch the flu, you will almost certainly live.  If you catch Ebola, you 'prolly gonna die, boss.

I do understand the point you were trying to make, but your comparison of Ebola to much more common and less frightening ways to die doesn't exactly work.

To be a truly effective argument you would need to compare Ebola to other equally deadly experiences.  I'm not sure, but I'd imagine trying to fuck an adult male grizzly bear may have a mortality rate of 70.8 percent (or higher).  That would be a better comparison.

So until more is known, my family will be avoiding large crowds this winter.  We will also be avoiding grizzly bears.  But we are going to be driving, sleeping without mosquito netting on the beds, and going out to play in the cold.

This is on a scale with the lesson in capitalism that we are supposed to have learned from 2008 - and still have done almost nothing to avoid again in the future.

And that is on a scale with the lesson we are supposed to have learned from letting Afghanistan become a cesspool of terrorism leading to 9/11.

John Morrison Birch (May 28, 1918 – August 25, 1945) was an American military intelligence officer and a Baptist missionary in World War II, who was killed during a confrontation with supporters of the Communist Party of China.

Politically conservative groups in the United States consider him to be a martyr and the first victim of the Cold War. The John Birch Society, an American conservative organization formed 13 years after his death, was named in his honor. His parents joined the Society as Life Members.

Not to change the subject..... but has anyone addressed the way a virus can mutate>  Say, for instance, the flu.  From duck, to pig to human.  What could ebola do?  Human to pig to human.  A new strain every year.  Be sure to get you flu/ebola vaccine.

Yes, it can and has mutated and the longer it goews on the more mutations will develop.

There are many strains of Ebola virus, many only affect monkeys, for example. This particular strain has mutated the ability to be more stable and linger longer making it easier to spread. This one actually kills a lower percentage of it's victims than previous human outbreaks but makes up for it by being able to spread faster and farther.

Being airborne is the ultimate mutation and it looks like it's there, or almost there. The mutations for transmission to a new host is what makes this Ebola so scary and bad.
