The Story Changes: Ebola Is Now "Aerostable" And Can Remain On Surfaces For 50 Days

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Snyder of The End of the American Dream blog,

When it comes to Ebola, the story that the government is telling us just keeps on changing.  At first, government officials were claiming that it was very difficult to spread the Ebola virus.  Some of them were even comparing it to HIV.  We were given the impression that we had to have “direct contact” with someone else’s body fluids in order to have any chance of catching the virus.  But of course that is not true at all.  Now authorities are admitting that Ebola is “aerostable”, that it can be “spread through droplets”, and that it can remain on surfaces for up to 50 days.  That is far different information than we have been getting up until this point.  So that means when they were so confidently declaring that they know exactly how Ebola spreads they were lying to us.

On October 24th, a 33 page document was released by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and in that document it is admitted that Ebola is “aerostable”.  WND was one of the first news outlets to report on this…

The information was contained in a 33-page report released Oct. 24 by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the Department of Defense’s Combat Support Agency for countering weapons of mass destruction.

The agency report states “preliminary studies indicate that Ebola is aerostable in an enclosed controlled system in the dark and can survive for long periods in different liquid media and can also be recovered from plastic and glass surfaces at low temperatures for over 3 weeks.”

The report says the government is seeking technologies for the “rapid disinfection” of Ebola, including an aerosol version of the virus.

“The technology must prove effective against viral contamination either deposited as an aerosol or heavy contaminated combined with body fluids,” reads the solicitation document.

You can view the document for yourself right here.

So is there any difference between “aerostable” and “airborne”?

That is a very good question.

Meanwhile, the CDC has finally come out and publicly admitted that Ebola “is spread through droplets”.

In other words, it can be spread by a cough or a sneeze.

On the CDC website, it now says the following

“A person might also get infected by touching a surface or object that has germs on it and then touching their mouth or nose.”

Well, that certainly does not sound like “direct contact” to me.

And once someone has coughed or sneezed, the virus can live on a surface for a very long time.

In fact, authorities in the UK now tell us that Ebola can survive on a glass surface for up to 50 days

The number of confirmed Ebola cases passed the 10,000 mark over the weekend, despite efforts to curb its spread.

And while the disease typically dies on surfaces within hours, research has discovered it can survive for more than seven weeks under certain conditions.

During tests, the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) found that the Zaire strain will live on samples stored on glass at low temperatures for as long as 50 days.

All of this directly contradicts what the CDC website has been telling us…

“To get Ebola, you have to directly get body fluids (like pee, poop, spit, sweat, vomit, semen, breast milk) from someone who has Ebola in your mouth, nose, eyes or through a break in your skin or through sexual contact.”

It turns out that is not even close to the truth.

And even as Obama boldly proclaims that there will not be an Ebola pandemic in the United States, the actions that his administration is currently taking suggest otherwise.

For example, we have just learned that the federal government has ordered 250,000 hazmat suits and is sending them to Dallas

A manager with a major shipping company has exclusively revealed to Infowars that the U.S. government has ordered 250,000 Hazmat suits to be sent to Dallas, the location of the first Ebola outbreak in the United States.

The manager of the shipping company proved his credentials to Infowars by providing a photo ID and sending a verified email from the company account, but wishes to remain anonymous due to understandable fears that he could be fired for revealing the information.

“I just learned we have been asked to ship 250,000 HAZMAT suits to Dallas, TX. for the US Government. Again this is happening today, we are pulling these suits for the US Government to Dallas, TX,” states the individual, who manages the drivers who work for the shipping company.

Why in the world would the Obama administration buy so many hazmat suits if everything was under control?

It doesn’t make sense.

Is this Ebola outbreak much more of a potential threat than they are telling us?

Insurance companies sure seem to think so.  In fact, many of them are now specifically excluding Ebola from their policies…

Remember the promise of universal health care with Obamacare, with no refusal for ‘pre-existing conditions’? It looks like your insurance company may not have to cover you if you get Ebola. U.S. and British insurance companies have begun writing Ebola exclusions into standard policies to cover hospitals, event organizers, and other businesses vulnerable to local disruptions.

While it is estimated that expenditures to treat the original Dallas Ebola patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, were approximately $100,000 an hour (though he passed anyway), it looks like insurance companies won’t be footing the bill.

President Obama originally refused to set up travel restrictions in and out of West Africa, too, even though the governments latest scare tactics and the CDC’s ineptitude have resulted in insurance companies creating new policies which exclude Ebola care. Renewals will also become costlier for companies opting to insure business travel to West Africa or to cover the risk of losses from quarantine shutdowns at home.

The American people deserve the truth.

I can understand the desire to keep people calm, but giving the public a false sense of security isn’t going to do anyone any good, and it might end up making this crisis much, much worse.

It is important for people to know how easily this virus spreads so that they can take appropriate measures to protect themselves and their families.  Since June, approximately 400 health workers have caught this virus, and about 230 of them have died.  These workers take extreme precautions to avoid getting Ebola.  If this virus did not spread easily, this would not be happening.

If our politicians and the mainstream media are not going to tell us the truth, then we are going to have to keep one another informed.

How does Ebola fit in with the whole theory of Gawd and Creationism.

If there ever was a perfect killing machine this has to pretty close, which should suit the creationists. So why would Gawd allow the creation of this killing machine.

1. All things were created perfect by God.

2. Adam & Eve disobeyed God, and all their offspring inherited sin. Along with this, Satan and 1/3 of the angels were cast out of Heaven. This combination of events resulted in detrimental mutations in all forms of life.

3. God sent his Son to Earth approximately 2,000 years ago to redeem all those who would put faith in Him.

4. God will shortly return to judge everyone who ever lived. Some will be resurrected to eternal life. The rest with be given to everlasting death.

That’s the summarized version.

Jesus said: "There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven." – Luke 21:11

I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth. - Revelation 6:8

To many people have a skewed view of the creator based on the lies the "church"

We are told "God loves everyone" then we see stuff like this, someone is lying to us.

Just have to disappoint you guys. This specific Ebola is not from USA. Actually USA borrowed it from Ukraine. Ukraine had it from USSR times. And that's why Russia is all smiley right now, they have vaccine ready, again from USSR times. The reason for all this crap is to pull another false flag screw-up. But since most of the decisions in USA made today by "effective managers" not by people who actually know what they are doing, things may get very ugly and soon...

Strictly speaking, it is my understanding that viral matter is not "living" per se. it is in a gray area and does not require sustenance to survive.

Just a stable environment until it can penetrate a living host.

You are correct William.  A virus is simply a strand of RNA.  AIDS, if you will, can last up to ten days on a given surface but now they are saying 50 days?  It is nothing a 99 cent bottle of bleach would not kill if one were to clean up.

The common cold is a virus and not bacterial in nature.  They constantly mutate and one day they might take us all out but I doubt it.  There is no doubt that they can kill you and there is no way to really defend against a virus.

Having a science background and degree, I have always wondered about viruses.  They are not conscious and you can't reason with them.  They are not even a fucking cell.  Remember the tulip craze back in 16 whenever the fuck?  That was caused by a virus.  I like to kid around but when it comes to plants I know what I am I talking about.

  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_breaking_virus

A virus is actually what caused "tulip mania".  The virus is what causes the streaks in the petals.  The plants still survive.  Only the most pure strains of tulips have no streaks.

OK, horticulture corner with Manipuflation is over.  Next time, we will discuss Orchidacea.  The time after that we will discuss Orchidacea.  And after that...well there are over 800 species of that epiphyte.  Orchids do not like children much.  My son likes to piss in the geranium pot when you aren't looking as well.

Yes. Viruses lack cell respiration and some other criteria we use to define life.

They can be RNA or DNA and may, or may not, have a protein coat or shell. They are categorized by their compostition and how they act, such as a 'retro-virus',  such as with AIDS, which inserts itself into the host DNA, but there are no genus and species categories for virus.

How can it possibly cost 100k an hour to treat ebola? Your health-care system is criminal. You have 20 ambulances show up at each incident because they all get paid. You have 100 cops directing the scene because they all get paid OT. And if ebola is excluded then you shouldn't purchase the insurance. It's almost worthless.

"Aerostable" just means it doesn't die rapidly from simple exposure to air. And aerosol transmission, which involves adhesion to a carrier droplet, usually water, is not the same as "airborne."

Actually they're still lying, you can catch Ebola through "surface skin contact", you don't need to infect the eyes, mouth, nose an open sore or membrane or breathe it in, you can get it from an elevator button that a carrier used an hour before..

A particle of Ebola virus lands on your skin and it soaks in like DMSO but grows like malaria.

That's why the spacesuits for Ebola workers going back for decades.

Ebola pierces skin cells effortlessly.

Worse still contagious Ebola carriers are surrounded in an invisible nanoscale plume of virus particles, every cell breakdown on the victims body surface explodes shooting charged virus particles into the air like baby spiders.

The gov. already know it's partial airborne, through droplets surface contamination, they drip the information out that they think they can get away with.

However because of online ebola reports the public themselves can read the studies. This only causes mistrust and and loss of faith , confidence in governments .

It'll also create more panic down the road.  It'll also be absorbed through normal skin.

How long before that news is normalised ? They'll probably use mutation as an excuse as to why they haven't gone full disclosure from the start.

Stilcould , ebola , is a great out as to why the world economy collapsed ... how convenient ?

"So is there any difference between “aerostable” and “airborne”?"

In my opinion, for practical purposes in this context there is little difference, except perhaps in the period of time the virus survives in the air, outside of the body.

I predicted weeks ago on ZH that this virus is probably airborne (or has mutated to become airborne).

That's the only explanation for the pattern of infection, eg when about 140 medical workers were all infected someplace in West Africa. Transmission only thru body fluids in that incident was extremely unlikely since they were all wearing hazmat suits and taking great care to wash everything down. It had to be getting spread in another way. Air is the only realistic explanation.

What surprises me is that the "new experts" are saying that airborne spread may only be the case in colder temperatures, whereas I suggest the relative factor is the "humidity" present. West Africa is a hot/humid part of the world with air temps easily reaching 30C and relative humidity at +/- 75%. This explains why it's spreading there so easily.

Sat, 11/01/2014 - 05:06 | 5401146 gwar5
gwar5's picture

Surprisingly, Ebola is reported to be more stable at lower temps and humidity.

The protective protein coat lasts longer under those conditions. Heat and humidity outside of a host actually break it down faster. As well as being apparently airborne, getting out of a dirty hazmat suit is the dangerous part. Takes two people to disrobe each other and not get Ebola juice on yourself.

The weak links in the virus are the protein coat and the genetic material inside.  A little detergent along with very dilute bleach plays havoc with most viruses.  Also since it is an RNA virus, once unprotected, RNA goes to shit almost instantly as it is single stranded (not double stranded like DNA) and is much more labile than are the DNA viruses.  At the research institute that I worked at I would go nuts in the lab preparing to isolate, work with and protect RNA from dedradation.  There are RNAses everywhere, your hands, just everywhere so if the coat comes off before they are endocytosed...the viral RNA is fucked.

A little bit of perspective - one carrier infects about 2 people. And that considers Sierra Leone where you've got people touching dead before burial and don't have much of a sanitation in villages. Aggressive response works perfectly well against it. There were cases in Lagos, metropolis with massive slums yet it's got stamped down (at least this time). If this was more infectious it would be completely different story, here if you track about 3/4 of all infected you'll get it all. Diesease where you have 10 infected of each carrier you'd need over 90%.

It's such a large problem because it started in those defunct societies, with poor hygiene and even lack of any effective (try shaman rituals, or murdering albinos as a way of stopping disease...) care for health. They have about 100 times less doctors there than in average Western country. How are they supposed to launch efficient response? You need a lot of manpower to do kind of a detective work, while also doing reasonable treatment. You've got to feed your sick, or they'll just wander out of the goddamn hospital. You need to support workers with hazmats etc or a bunch of them gets infected and soon the rest 'aint so keen on working. This kind of massive failure led to this breeding ground.

Now if West keeps sending in relief workers it's a pretty obvious way to get infections, though there'd have to be fuckups of epic proportions to let it get out of hand. Catching 50% of cases is enough to keep it stable it's not a tall order. Cutting those infected countries off could lead to some massive carnage. If they get overrun with disease that kills 70% of infected, they also get cut off on all sides and starve. They're already having shortages. It'd look like some zombie movie with airdrops of food, but shooting on sight anybody that comes close to a border. That'd be some wicked last line in the history of a country called Liberia.

PS I didn't consider conspiracy side for this ... but I'd say there could be sth to it. Not to conspiracy pulling this out of some lab, but to letting it spread.

It's pretty obvious USA will have some cases with this large amount of doctors and nurses flying in with relief. If sb would drop the ball on purpose it would start spreading naturally. Just some fucked up procedures that are counterproductive to get rate of isolation below minimum that keeps it in check. That's not many witnesses and nobody needs to go and stick syringes with Ebola into people. Than you have an outbrake, you can go in with any kind of further police state measures ... and they will work. It's only 1:2 ratio, so with a curfew and massive powers to all govt officials you'll easily catch 'em all, while society foots the bill and lands with a new ever more stict set of laws.

Very little can be done because any steps which restrict  risky people's freedom to do what the heck they like for a few weeks, will be seen as discriminatory, infringement of human rights, excess of state power , non-PC etc..

All this in a country in which the police kill at will, the military kill dozens of civilians overseas every day and any and every form of intrusion and surveillance is practised.

There is no underlying logic - nothing you can respect. Everyone is running around in intense activity without wisdom, reflection, integrity or common sense.

There is no intelligent life left. Every subject which comes up no matter what, turns into the same subject - rabid party politics and tribalism.

I can't even wrap my head around the stupidity of this article.

"So is there any difference between “aerostable” and “airborne”?

That is a very good question.

Meanwhile, the CDC has finally come out and publicly admitted that Ebola “is spread through droplets”.

In other words, it can be spread by a cough or a sneeze."

Yes. There IS a difference between "aerostable" and "airborne". Good Fucking God. Aerostable simply means that the virus doesn't destabilize and DIE when outside of it's environment (your body).

The CDC has ALWAYS "publicly admitted" that it's spread through droplets. Droplets. Of blood. Coughed out while someone's lungs are bleeding, spitting while coughing....yeah....and even, oh, you know...bloody sneezes. You know. Since it's AEROSTABLE and SPREAD BY DROPLET.

“A person might also get infected by touching a surface or object that has germs on it and then touching their mouth or nose.”

Well, that certainly does not sound like “direct contact” to me."

No....by definition, that is NOT "direct contact". The definition of direct contact is PERSON TO PERSON or ANIMAL TO PERSON. Not "inanimate object to person".

"All of this directly contradicts what the CDC website has been telling us…

“To get Ebola, you have to directly get body fluids (like pee, poop, spit, sweat, vomit, semen, breast milk) from someone who has Ebola in your mouth, nose, eyes or through a break in your skin or through sexual contact.”

It turns out that is not even close to the truth."

OMFG. This has to be the dumbest statement of it all---direct contradiction here. Yes. BODY FLUIDS that are expelled via cough, sneeze, spit (i doubt that seriously, unless their mouth/gums are bleeding into the saliva), vomite---THAT CONTAINS INFECTED BLOOD---it needs an entry point into YOUR body, i.e. putting your fingers up your nose, in your mouth or into some other interesting orifice after touching---you know....a surface that was contaminated VIA DROPLET from a bloody sneeze or cough from an infected person.

Does this guy have access to google at all? I don't even have to do the job I do in order to know this simple stuff---and to oh...you know...remember what he wrote just 3 paragraphs ago, that it's a direct contradiction to everything else he says.  Yes? No?  Bueller?

The healthcare workers that have died---ARE WORKING IN AFRICA, with hundreds of cases every single day, with facilities that are beyond substandard. The patients are left in hallways, bleeding out.

Has anyone here seen these types of conditions in the U.S. lately?  Every case in the U.S. is now recovering.

If this moron wants to stir up fear---this is quite possibly the lamest attempt I've seen yet.

Use your head.  No no....that OTHER one.....and figure it out. Hepatitis C lives on surfaces for up to 3 weeks---but that doesn't mean it's VIABLE. It's a 1 in a million shot that you will contract it from a surface that someone contaminated with their body fluids.

The reason for the lethality of this virus IN AFRICA---is because of their lack of sanitation and proper healthcare facilities. Not the virus itself.

The nejm article linked above about patients studied in Sierra Leone indicates that of the 106 patient cases reviewed, only one experienced bleeding. If both the nejm report and your argument are correct, then that means the current case count of 10,000 is based on less than 100 patients being infectious. In picking my poison, I'll side with nejm in this case. In other words, the OP's article isn't far fetched.

So, who believes this cover up theory - that Ebola patients are being disappeared, hidden from view until after the election?  Will there be a sudden upsweep in the numbers after Tuesday?  I would say that if this does indeed happen and the public does not put two and two together to see that we are being manipulated beyond belief, then there truly is no hope.  The fucknuts running the show will have won.

I am re-reading 1984 at the moment and there are moments where I simply stop reading and just sit there, stunned, at how accurate some parts of it are.  I wonder if they still have this on the reading list for high school now or if it would be considered subversive material by now?

No new information here. It has long been known that ebola is aerostable. An airborne bacterium like TB can remain suspended in the air for hours, meaning, a TB infected person can cough in a room, leave it and the people entering the room hours after that person can get infected. With Ebola, however, that cannot happen.
