And The World's Most Powerful Person For The Second Year In A Row Is...

Tyler Durden's picture

When it comes to the second coming of the cold war, things are not looking good for the leader of the "Free World", because for the second year in a row, at least according to Forbes editors, the person whom they have chosen as the world's most powerful in the world...

ezgif.com-optimize

... is not the lame duck on the left.

From Forbes:

Our annual ranking of the World’s 72 Most Powerful People (one for every 100 million people on the planet) is based on voting by a panel of FORBES editors, who consider things like financial resources, scope and use of power, and the number of people they impact. (See full methodology here.)

This is not a lineup of the most influential or an anointing of the new establishment. It is an evaluation of hard power. We insist the people on our list wield the kind of power that shapes and bends the world, and moves people, markets, armies and minds. All of this, of course, is open to debate, and we welcome it. Join the conversation and leave your comments below.

This year’s list features 17 heads of state who run nations with a combined GDP of some $48 trillion. The 39 CEOs and chairs here control over $3.6 trillion in annual revenues. Among them are 14 founders, including the newcomer billionaires to the list, Alibaba’s Jack Ma and  Tencent’s Ma Huateng. Speaking of, this year’s class has 29 billionaires with a cumulative personal net worth valued in excess of $790 billion.

Below is the full list of Forbes' Most Powerful People in the World 2014:

  1. Vladimir Putin
  2. Barack Obama
  3. Xi Jinping
  4. Pope Francis
  5. Angela Merkel
  6. Janet Yellen
  7. Bill Gates
  8. Mario Draghi
  9. Larry Page and Sergey Brin
  10. David Cameron

1) KGB changed their name to FSB.  Just pen it over on your book.

2) The Russian equivalent of the NSA is a KGB office in Lubyanka HQ.  But it is NOT the KGB.

In a faux democratic republic, the men and women who are most powerful can not reveal themselves to any but the front men.

Putin is modern Russia's Ronald Reagan. He has balls, is a Christian and he stands firm for Russia's best interests. He does not, nor ever will rubber stamp what Washington wants. This is why he is demonized in the Western press. Furthermore, too much is made of his KGB past. George Bush Sr. was the head of the CIA. Nobody can tell me that the CIA isn't less evil than the KGB, yet Bush's CIA past was rarely mentioned in the media during his presidency. Putin is a real leader not a spineless Chicago political huckster!

Putin is on a roll and as time goes by he has continued to rack up more points in Ukraine as the conflict drags on. Things may have quieted down and the eyes of the world have moved to more pressing issues, as Putin is playing the long game by grinding away at the resolve of both bankrupt Kiev and the EU. A recently signed deal for gas supplies to Ukraine only highlights the fact the devil of any agreement is in the details.

The Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said any resumed supplies could be halted again on Jan. 1 if Ukraine doesn’t pay $3.1 billion in debt prepay for future deliveries. It appears this deal is tenuous and the guarantees of it being fulfilled are weak .Don't hold your breath for Putin to back-off or back-down, he has put down his marker and is now playing both Obama and Kerry for fools in a contest that may cost Russia little. If Putin doesn't get his way next week he will next month or next year at the latest. The article below delves into why this conflict won't be over until Putin says its over.

Bi-Polar bullshit that hasn't existed in 25 years.

This recurring proposition, that there is the US on one side, Russia on the other, with most all countries aligned with one or the other is bullshit.

It is totally measurable, totally visible, and anyone who has two eyes to see and ears to hear already knows.

The rest of humanity will know when they pull their heads out of their nationalistic asses and quit letting tv personalities tell them what 'Dear Leader' wants them to think.

The Saudi's (and the Arabs generally) are not on the US pole of a bi-polar world.  They are on the Arab pole.  They are worried about huge numbers of youths who do not work and have never worked, but only lived on oil-sale subsidies.

Europe doesn't know which way it will lean, but will certainly lean toward Europe's own interests.  They lean East, then West, but their feet are (and should be) grounded in Europe.

China likes to pretend many things:  Pretend to be capitalists (but keep the oligarch-communists), pretend to be Russia's friend...so long as the gas is cheap and it is too much trouble to take the gas fields, pretend to be the US's friend - or more accurately WalMart's friend.  But at the end of the day, China is for China and is only on China's side.

Q: How can people honestly imagine otherwise?

A: They can't imagine anything.  They let others do the thinking for them.  Anything on US or Russian media Info-Tainment is a perfect example.

The US is on the US's side, generally.  But the elite in the US seem to have signed a suicide pact in their hubris and belief in their own invincibility.  And they simply believe it is their birthright to be micro-managers of society while being MARKEDLY more incompetent than any set of their predecessors for the last 250 years.

Enough with the bi-polar "US wants to cut Russia to pieces - and everything that heppens in the world is related to that".  It is bullshit.  Almost nothing is related to that.

A five-year old could see through it immediately.

Adults, apparently, - and especially those in the Pentagon and Kremlin basements - are too "trained" to see anything.

When it comes to the second coming of the cold war, things are not looking good for the leader of the "Free World", because for the second year in a row, at least according to Forbes editors, the person whom they have chosen as the world's most powerful in the world...

...is not the one who currently presides in the White House

Well Jesus H. Christ!

Hats off to the dumbest fuckers on the planet that use to be part of one of the greatest economic engines in all the world because of it's "laws" or "freedoms" whichever works best for you -that put this joker in office twice for doing the opposite of everything he said he would do before his first term!...

In all fairness he certainly didn't do it alone especially with the endorsement and approval of Congress in committing collective treason 3 years ago with the NDAA and prior to that the Patriot Act(s)!

I happen to believe that Putin is the Leader for his Country at the right time and right place in it's history and for the rest of the World as well. But oh how we're certainly making it easy for him in placing that distinction at his feet!

The only reason the teleprompter is up there is because he is the head of the military and can start war anytime his heart desires and no one can really stop him as it would be "unpatriotic" to stop a war criminal.  Just like Adolf and the Germans, They were the Master Race, remember?

Bill gates?  He is just a man with money.  There are cartel leaders that scare me a lot more than Gates.

There are a lot who shouldn't be on that list.  The list is as phony and USA pandering as the news media.

Don't underestimate Bill Gates. Sum up all the anguish and life force which his Windows products have sucked out of humanity and he is up there will Pol Pot and Charles Manson.

Beside, he is working hard on curbing overpopulation in Sierra Leone, so he is on course to be every bit as evil as Soros...

How many divisions has the Pope?

Pope Francis is hell bent on appeasing those groups who felt most threatened by the -once upon a time- cohesiveness of the Roman Catholic Church, and its "straight and narrow morality: Jews and Communists. You can also identify homosexuals, feminists, and hedonists as groups separate from the main two, if you like.

Is that why he ranked so high?

This is true, and the irony is that the more he appeases the weaker the Church will get.  All the 'liberal' religions (CoE, Episcopalians) are disappearing down the plughole while those red in tooth and claw like Islam are strongly growing.

Putin does have a lot of power

And I dont think he is powerless in this economic war

He does have weapons and he will use them

He will take back what is lost and more

Obama may be a whimp, but he can also be very cruel

This political setback may expidite what he has planned

I have some reason to believe there will not be another presidential election

That means there will be alot of economic chaos

The predictins you have been tossing around here will probably happen by the end of next year

God is about to turn the tables of the money changers of the world

It won't be pretty

OMG, LOL.  The dude is presiding over a corrupt, and dying empire.  He can barely project power into the Ukraine.  Oil at $70-80 for a year bankrupts him.  In two years Europe has alternative gas sources.

Actually, the new LNG terminal in Lithuania provides the most vulnerable Baltic States with a facility that can supply Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia - the three "most Russian hatingest" of all the EU - with a storage that can supply all three for a year at a time.

Of course, if Putin were to cut off the gas to the rest of the EU, how cold would Kaliningrad have to get before they took to the streets, as ALL of their gas goes through Lithuania, an EU country, right now.... not to mention all rail lines for military supplies, consumer goods, EVERYTHING. A TRUE "Achilles Heel."

And Putin knows it... but has no plan or answer for it.

Have you all even been paying attention to the legislation Putinski and his grand ole Duma have been passing?

Russia is becoming extremely dictatorial in its legislative actions less press freedom, more individual restrictions, citizen travel bans and more

Russia will become an isolated failed state unless BRICS and associates don't get punked by U.S and go all in with the new Sino Russo alliance but you know if the U.S falls China might just say fuk the guard dog is gone now we are going to eat all of You!

Putinski is extremely reactionary and is fighting off his back foot he knows one wrong move and its WW3! wether he wants it or not! so for not causing the world to become a fiery hellhole is bout the only thing you can thank him for.

More importantly Mr. Putin is able to recognise a babbling idiot when he is confronted with one which explains Russia's diplomatic successes.
