ObamaCare Architect Admits "Lack Of Transparency" Is Huge Advantage Against "Stupidity Of The American Voter"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

Earlier today, I published a post titled, Inside the Mind of an Oligarch – Sheldon Adelson Proclaims “I Don’t Like Journalism, which zeroed in on the condescending attitude oligarchs and their technocrat minions have toward the general population. I wrote:

The term oligarch is reserved for those with extreme wealth who also want to control the political process, policy levers and most other aspects of the lives of the citizenry in a top-down tyrannical and undemocratic manner. They think they know best about pretty much everything, and believe unelected technocrats who share their worldview should be empowered so that they can unilaterally make all of society’s important decisions. The unwashed masses (plebs) in their minds are unnecessary distractions who must to be told what to do. Useless eaters who need to be brainwashed into worshipping the oligarch mindset, or turned into apathetic automatons incapable or unwilling to engage in critical thought. Either outcome is equally acceptable and equally encouraged.

It’s quite timely that those words appeared on the site the same day that a video clip emerged of MIT economics professor, and the architect of Obamacare, Jonathan Gruber, admitting that the legislation was intentionally complex and misleading in order to pass Congress and elicit limited outrage from the “stupid” American public.

The Hill reports that:

An architect of the federal healthcare law said last year that a “lack of transparency” and the “stupidity of the American voter” helped Congress approve ObamaCare.

He suggested that many lawmakers and voters didn’t know what was in the law or how its financing worked, and that this helped it win approval.

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber said. “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.”

Gruber made the comment while discussing how the law was “written in a tortured way” to avoid a bad score from the Congressional Budget Office. He suggested that voters would have rejected ObamaCare if the penalties for going without health insurance were interpreted as taxes, either by budget analysts or the public.

The arrogance and destructiveness of this man knows no bounds. Look at how excited he gets, flailing his hands all over the place as he discusses the gigantic deception that is Obamacare.

The full clip can be found on UPenn’s website.

As I have said for years now, these people are sick and dangerous. They are also in power. This needs to change as soon as possible.

That oligarch definition with which Krieger begins pretty much describes the majority of the Zerohedge comment posters and Contributors, well, except for the wealth part.  Replace Krieger’s “plebs” with “sheeple”, and it’s a perfect match, again, minus the wealth part.

Let's all stop pretending that any piece of legislation is some sort thing where the laws are written and agreed upon. There is nothing laid out in legislation. Nothing in there says what you can or cannot do.

Legislation now just creates the authority for the government to regulate, the agency to carry out the regulation, who it rolls up to, how it should it be funded, how much funding it gets, and how often they have to report back to congress. There are no rules. Obamacare was basically "create the authority to make healthcare more affordable". Whatever that means will be settled later.

And that later is when you truly get fucked. It's a small group of people who take their marching orders directly from corporate lobbyists who pay a significant sum of money to get into these meetings. Those meetings are arranged by K Street lawyers who get paid a disgusting amount of money to grovel over the booty.

But when all the who-ha about death panels came out, some asshole would normally say "where in the legislation does it say death panels? I'm fact checking you. Nuh uh". What was moronic about the whole thing is nothing was written about how this thing was going to be administered. It was always going to be "let's wait and see what the corporate lobbyists draw up with the insider regulators we appoint. Mmmkay?"

Saying that the American voter is dumb because he can't do anything about this is just rubbing it in at this point. Or it's a way to absolve yourself of what you know to be a bullshit process. "Well, the voters voted these people in, who am I to judge?"

Law is only as good as the people who enforce it.  If the enforcement isnt steady and consistent, the law isnt worth the paper it is written on.  At any point, any individual can disregard whichever law they wish. Every one of us consents to be governed every single moment of every single day.

No, the magic bullet theory belongs to the conspiracy book writers, who pretend that a bullet exiting JFK's neck, could magically disappear, not hitting Connallly or anything else in the limo.

The Discovery Channel amply demonstrated that a bullet hitting JFK in the upper back, went on to hit Connally.

The Zapruder film showed both men suddenly and simultaneously reflexively reacted in a manner consistent with their non fatal gunshot wounds.  JFK's arms and Connally's right arm jumped up at the same time. The movement of Connally between Z224 and Z230 looks un-natural when the film is played at normal speed, as though his right torso and shoulder jerked forward, which is consistent with a bullet hitting a right rib from behind.  At Z224, Connally's right lapel jumped position.

There is ample evidence in the film, that both men were shot at the same time, thus by the same bullet.

Anyone ever been to Dealey Plaza? It's tiny. Seen how close the limo was to the shooting position? Any of you with time at the range could have made those shots with your favourite pistol.

Hand resting on a stack of books, very steady.

Target approaching from one vantage, little relative movement as sighted. Target receding from from vantage, almost no relative movement as sighted.

Most videos online from gun ranges are from distances that are approximately that of this event.

An iron-sighted bolt action rifle? This was a non-sniper shot. Your average boy scout could make these shots with that weapon.

The shots were extremely easy, the distances very close.

Z224 reveals them both being shot within 1/28th of a second - that's one bullet from one weapon, from above and behind their position.

Yes ... many times. You will not find a single person on Earth who could have made the claimed shot at that moving target from the side from that window in the book depository with the rifle that was used and having no scope ... an impossible shot! No pistol would have had accuracy at that distance. Remember, the claimed shooter was 70' up as well as more than 200' away ... like shooting the length of a football field ... with a pistol? Spend much time at the range?

So basically, it's whatever you can get away with in terms of legislation, hoodwinking, lying, and duping the voters.

It's no different than the Law of the Jungle, Dog eat dog world of 5-40,000 years ago.

Except, politicians and political consultants don't use rocks and machetes to bash your skull in and chop you up into bits of stir fry.

The do it in a "nonviolent" manner, but the end result is the same. The people in power get more, and those not in power get less. This is better because they aren't actually killing somebody physically, but it's actually worse, because they are killing people's opportunities, and choice, and freedom, and they get a debt slave at the end.

Which makes them actually worse than Attila the Hun, Nero or Vlad the Impaler. At least with those guys, there was an end, you got impaled, or killed. In the new system, you get to be fucked in the ass for 30-50 years until you die in debt from a vaccination related complication, which you don't even have the right to sue over.

The OLIGARCHS have been very SUCCESSFUL in waging their war against the consciousness of the people they control. THEY ARE RIGHT THAT THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE BEHAVE LIKE ZOMBIE SHEEPLE. Generation after generation of using lies backed by violence to control people has resulted in most people becoming incompetent political idiots.

Any time that anyone starts to make any progress against that, then the OLIGARCHS, who already have captured control over the powers of governments, simply resort to whatever illegal or legal means are necessary or possible to make sure the people that they rule over stay sufficiently stupid. The best organized gangs of criminals have captured almost complete control over all the social institutions throughout the Anglo-American (Zionist) Empire, and are working to try to consolidate that into a globalized empire, that they can continue to control by having governments enforce their frauds.

After a few decades of working on those political problems, I have been forced to face the social facts that there is no reasonable hope that enough people will stop behaving like Zombie Sheeple, being fleeced to exhaustion, while they are set up to be slaughtered. Although I try to keep my hand in the political game in Canada, through my continuing work through Electoral District Associations, several decades of study and political experiments, and court cases, as well as face to face discussions with tens of thousands of people from all walks of life, have not only convinced me that what that arrogant oligarch said was correct, but also, there is no doubt that guys like him will be able to continue to get away with saying things like that more and more in the foreseeable future.

All over the world, "democracy" is dwindling and dying, indeed, it was already killed when the banksters succeeded in privatizing the public money supply, while everything since then was simply more of the same, happening faster and faster. For instance, during the recent mid-term elections, the most optimistic estimates were that 37% of the eligible voters bothered to vote, while the election campaigns themselves were dominated by Big Money!

While I AGREE with what that article above concluded, that the ruling classes are criminally insane, and so, extremely dangerous, there are no good grounds to expect that is going to change in any other ways than getting worse, faster, since IN FACT, the banksters and their buddies are RIGHT that THEY CAN COUNT ON ENOUGH VOTERS BEING STUPID ENOUGH TO CONTINUE TO BE FOOLED ENOUGH OF THE TIME.

Thousands of years of civilization based on backing up lies with violence, in order to make the majority of people become ignorant and afraid, has been extremely successful. Too bad and so sad that will have terribly tragic consequences in the longer term, however, after working on those problems for several decades, I have been forced to finally conclude that our civilization is already almost inconceivably crazy and corrupt, and therefore, terminally sick and insane!

For goodness sakes this is over a year old video and listen to the longer version to get the full context here and I'm not supporting the guy but it makes more sense to hear the whole thing out.  Do you think this is ts the first law passed with no transparency, probably not but it was a big one for sure.

Where's his buddy Zeke Emanuel here?  Those two were the head architects on this.  The American public does get duped and why I put together the Attack of the Killer Algorithms page as you listen to what they are talking about, it's mathematical formulas that make the law work as they say.  I read every day and pick off the stupid stuff every day and I'm just listening to this surfacing a year after the fact and kind of dumbfounded actually as haven't we already figured this out that the Obamacare model is flawed and needs to be fixed in more ways than one.

Watch some of these videos and be a skeptic when you need to be.  These are people smarter than me. Just book mark it and watch when you have time.  Video #1 sets the stage with Professor Charlie Siefe from NYU who wrote the book "Proofiness the Dark Arts of Mathematical Deception" and I'm on same mission as him to help people see when others are duping you with numbers and formulas.

http://www.ducknet.net/attack-of-the-killer-algorithms/

We have a probelm today with all this marketing that's out there and how people suck in almost everything if it's on the web as being true and it's not.  I'm working to try and get a law passed to require all who sell our personal data to be licensed, that's step one as nobody has made any progress so far in trying to regulate those folks as there's no index, i.e. license so how do you do it"  You don't and the banks and companies keep making billions.  Walgreens pulls in about 1-2 billion a year, just selling your data, so see the big mony.  You health insurers are buying your credit card transactions, using software on your voice at call centers and "scoring" results and selling that to behavioral analytic folks.  People who buy insurance from private exchanges, one more plus there, the firms that run these exchanges are investor relations people with a few hundred quants running aound again querying your data and selling that too.

I can't get people to open their eyes on that either.  It's why inequality keeps accelerating as you get denied access and the data gets flawed and you get judged on flawed data.

http://www.youcaring.com/other/help-preserve-our-privacy-/258776

So again this video is just kind of strange that it popped up now to me anyway and that it's a big deal as we knew it anyway but I guess hearing it gets folks all upset again.

Before Obamacare my employer's insurance covered the cost of everything. No copays.  A few months ago I took a tumble down the stairs and got a $300 copay for the ER visit.  I paid more than the insurance did.

Today I paid $30 to see my primary care doctor for a sprained ankle and was sent across town for an x-ray. They told me that would be over $200 and I was about to limp out of there before a "financial counselor" showed me I qualify for "assistance."  Fucking hell, I work full time, have my own health insurance (for now) and I still have to get subsidies for klutzy little accidents because my salary and insurance can't cover a sprained fucking ankle?

I just got a promotion with no raise.  When looking over the income chart for those subsidies I realized I'd be better off not trying to work hard to get ahead.

After reading your story this will really make your head explode. I got my own diagnostic work done in Manila, I was there for something else anyway.  It was only $77 USD, package deal, total 4 hours during a single day, hanging around the mall and clinic, and the package deal included ALL of the below:

1. complete blood work up, CBC with differential

2. Complete urinalysis

3. Chest X-ray with radiologic interpretation, report

4. EKG, with internist interpretation, report

5. Diagnostic abdominal ultrasound, (r/o kidney stones, masses, etc) with interpretation, report

6. Consultation with internist, if needed

7. Consultation with specialist, if needed

I had couple of other things thrown in for a little extra, like a PSA and CRP since they were drawing blood anyway, but not just dignostic tests are cheap.

Last week I went to a Filipino Dermatologist to get a few benign dark spots removed (SKs) from my back in the office with a good old 'electrodessicator'. She went to town and took off about 18-20 lesions and the total charge was still only $115 USD. There was no charge whatsoever for the initial consult the day before.

Another way of saying hoodwinked:

Theft by deception is similar to a basic theft charge, which is the unlawful taking of something that belongs to another person with the intent to deprive the owner of the property, but theft by deception requires that the individual employed some deceptive act or used deceptive words which were relied upon by the victim in making the decision to turn over their property.

Different states have various definitions of what is considered deception, but they typically include language such as “words or conduct that create a false impression.” For example, if someone makes a representation that they own a construction business and takes money from a victim to perform a job they never intended to complete, then they could be prosecuted for theft by deception. It doesn’t matter that the victim voluntarily gave the perpetrator their money, as long as the state can prove that the victim relied on a defendant’s representations.

Like many people in this country, I believe we need a complete overhaul of congress, the executive branch and the judiciary (along with most other governmental positions) to try to ensure this type of bullshit doesn't happen in the future.  Unfortunately the only way this is EVER going to happen is if fundamental changes are made to the electoral process in the USA.  A few of some suggested changes to the way we run our elections and how political offices are held include:

  1. Eliminate gerrymandering of political districts on both the state and federal level.
  2. Eliminate ALL private monetary donations to political campaigns and replace the funding with subsidies from either the state or federal government (depending on the type of election).  Each candidate would be allowed a set amount of funding to run their campaign and funding would only be given to those candidates that can submit a minimum number of verifiable petition signatures from the respective district, state, etc. applicable to the office/position being run for (i.e. a minimum % of the eligible voters in each district, state, etc.).  The amount of funding provided would be set based on a set dollar amount for each eligible voter in that election. This would provide for increased funding as the size of the voter pool increases - e.g. a person running for federal senate seat would get $XX.XX dollars for each eligible voter in that state while someone running for President would get $XX.XX dollars for each eligible voter in each state where the required number of petition signatures has been satisfied.  This funding would be used for all items EXCEPT for television and radio air time (see next item).
  3. Require each radio and television station covering a district or state to provide a set amount of air time for political ads (at the district or state level election).  The amount of air time provided by each radio or TV station could be determined on something like the type of office/position being run for and the total listener or viewership of each station.  For national seats like the Presidency require each over-the-air network and all cable news outlets to do the same thing. The time frame where political ads could be run would be set and limited to something like 90 days prior to the election to avoid 18 month campaigns like we've seen in the last decade or more. The free airtime requirement for elections would be part of the FCC licensing process for radio and TV stations.
  4. Eliminate all computer/machine based voting where no hard copy documentation is not a part of the voting process. For example, require paper ballots, punch cards, etc. as part of the voting process so; 1) there is an original hard-copy of each vote cast and 2) to eliminate potential vote fraud through rigging of the electronic voting machines (which was a problem in both the 2000 and 2004 Presidential elections).
  5. Where a minimum number of verifiable petition signatures have been collected allow national referendums to change or repeal federal laws or to create new laws or regulations outside of the legislative branch of the federal government Do the same thing in each state where no provision for referendums currently exist.
  6. Eliminate all life-time appointments for judicial seats at both the state and federal level (particularly in the supreme court) and set a maximum number of years for each seat affected (term limits).
  7. Provide term limits for all federal and state political offices.
  8. For a set number of years after leaving office prohibit anyone at the federal or state level from being employed in a company or organization that was directly or indirectly effected by legislation or regulation related to that political or administrative office being relinquished.

Obviously, based on the fact that we have an oligarchy in control of the government(s) in the USA, the chances of any of the reforms suggested above are about the same as the oceans of the world evaporating next week . . . . .

Do all ZH readers understand ??

the "lack of transparency" was NOT about what Gruber portrayed.

It was NOT about what he piously claimed is an alleged public distaste for the healthy supporting the unhealthy.

What was actually intended to be concealed was that Obamacare was written by the insurance and pharmaceutical industries to wastefully and profitably most benefit them, and do nothing overall to improve the general healthcare in the USA.

The intent and actuality of Obamacare was and is NOT to utilize government to benefit the general population.

The basic problem is not the alleged arrogance of "do-gooders" (although those who deceitfully portray their real motives are a problem).

Instead, the basic problem is best described as corporatism, the fusion of croney government and big business to enrich and empower themselves.

Many who accept Gruber's false portrayal then fail to denounce those actually responsible for writing Obamacare law, and who then bribed/sponsored the self-serving politicians who enacted it!
