Paralyzed Iraq War Veteran's Writes Last Words To Bush & Cheney

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

Last March, I came across a letter written to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney from a paralyzed and dying Iraq war vet named Tomas Young. It touched me to such an extent, that I highlighted it on Liberty Blitzkrieg at the time. He died on Monday, the day before Veterans Day. If you really want to honor our nation’s soldiers, you should read the following and share it.

RIP Tomas Young.

Full letter below, from Counterpunch.

My Last Words to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney

by TOMAS YOUNG

I write this letter on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq War on behalf of my fellow Iraq War veterans. I write this letter on behalf of the 4,488 soldiers and Marines who died in Iraq. I write this letter on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of veterans who have been wounded and on behalf of those whose wounds, physical and psychological, have destroyed their lives. I am one of those gravely wounded. I was paralyzed in an insurgent ambush in 2004 in Sadr City. My life is coming to an end. I am living under hospice care.

I write this letter on behalf of husbands and wives who have lost spouses, on behalf of children who have lost a parent, on behalf of the fathers and mothers who have lost sons and daughters and on behalf of those who care for the many thousands of my fellow veterans who have brain injuries. I write this letter on behalf of those veterans whose trauma and self-revulsion for what they have witnessed, endured and done in Iraq have led to suicide and on behalf of the active-duty soldiers and Marines who commit, on average, a suicide a day. I write this letter on behalf of the some 1 million Iraqi dead and on behalf of the countless Iraqi wounded. I write this letter on behalf of us all—the human detritus your war has left behind, those who will spend their lives in unending pain and grief.

I write this letter, my last letter, to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. I write not because I think you grasp the terrible human and moral consequences of your lies, manipulation and thirst for wealth and power. I write this letter because, before my own death, I want to make it clear that I, and hundreds of thousands of my fellow veterans, along with millions of my fellow citizens, along with hundreds of millions more in Iraq and the Middle East, know fully who you are and what you have done. You may evade justice but in our eyes you are each guilty of egregious war crimes, of plunder and, finally, of murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americans—my fellow veterans—whose future you stole.

Your positions of authority, your millions of dollars of personal wealth, your public relations consultants, your privilege and your power cannot mask the hollowness of your character. You sent us to fight and die in Iraq after you, Mr. Cheney, dodged the draft in Vietnam, and you, Mr. Bush, went AWOL from your National Guard unit. Your cowardice and selfishness were established decades ago. You were not willing to risk yourselves for our nation but you sent hundreds of thousands of young men and women to be sacrificed in a senseless war with no more thought than it takes to put out the garbage.

I joined the Army two days after the 9/11 attacks. I joined the Army because our country had been attacked. I wanted to strike back at those who had killed some 3,000 of my fellow citizens. I did not join the Army to go to Iraq, a country that had no part in the September 2001 attacks and did not pose a threat to its neighbors, much less to the United States. I did not join the Army to “liberate” Iraqis or to shut down mythical weapons-of-mass-destruction facilities or to implant what you cynically called “democracy” in Baghdad and the Middle East. I did not join the Army to rebuild Iraq, which at the time you told us could be paid for by Iraq’s oil revenues. Instead, this war has cost the United States over $3 trillion. I especially did not join the Army to carry out pre-emptive war. Pre-emptive war is illegal under international law. And as a soldier in Iraq I was, I now know, abetting your idiocy and your crimes. The Iraq War is the largest strategic blunder in U.S. history. It obliterated the balance of power in the Middle East. It installed a corrupt and brutal pro-Iranian government in Baghdad, one cemented in power through the use of torture, death squads and terror. And it has left Iran as the dominant force in the region. On every level—moral, strategic, military and economic—Iraq was a failure. And it was you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney, who started this war. It is you who should pay the consequences.

I would not be writing this letter if I had been wounded fighting in Afghanistan against those forces that carried out the attacks of 9/11. Had I been wounded there I would still be miserable because of my physical deterioration and imminent death, but I would at least have the comfort of knowing that my injuries were a consequence of my own decision to defend the country I love. I would not have to lie in my bed, my body filled with painkillers, my life ebbing away, and deal with the fact that hundreds of thousands of human beings, including children, including myself, were sacrificed by you for little more than the greed of oil companies, for your alliance with the oil sheiks in Saudi Arabia, and your insane visions of empire.

I have, like many other disabled veterans, suffered from the inadequate and often inept care provided by the Veterans Administration. I have, like many other disabled veterans, come to realize that our mental and physical wounds are of no interest to you, perhaps of no interest to any politician. We were used. We were betrayed. And we have been abandoned. You, Mr. Bush, make much pretense of being a Christian. But isn’t lying a sin? Isn’t murder a sin? Aren’t theft and selfish ambition sins? I am not a Christian. But I believe in the Christian ideal. I believe that what you do to the least of your brothers you finally do to yourself, to your own soul.

My day of reckoning is upon me. Yours will come. I hope you will be put on trial. But mostly I hope, for your sakes, that you find the moral courage to face what you have done to me and to many, many others who deserved to live. I hope that before your time on earth ends, as mine is now ending, you will find the strength of character to stand before the American public and the world, and in particular the Iraqi people, and beg for forgiveness.

-Tomas Young

What’s so impressive about this letter, beyond the incredible emotion and pain behind it, is the fact that Mr. Young was so prescient about so many issues. He highlighted the debacle that became the Veterans Administration scandal before it broke, and he also pointed to the dangerous power vacuum created in Baghdad before the emergence of ISIS. We lost a special soul on Monday.

I agree 100% and have posted similar sentiments elsewhere. I think owning what this letter means is too painful and there is a kind of cognitive dissonance going on, or an ego defense of some kind. We are phobic of our emotions in this culture (me too). If we felt 1/10 of what he was laying out, WE REALLY WOULD HAVE TO ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING.

Thus why they won't answer your question.

It is so maddening because I know most of these people are not dumb, and certainly they do not disagree with the message that the government lied to this kid.  Yet they can't rally around him and just put aside their ideology for one minute and say, "great message.  Great letter."  I think that is what is most depressing about it.

In the words of the great philosopher that is Richard Sherman, "you mad bro?"

Relax, ZH is a great spot for know it all types to espouse how they are smarter than everyone else and if we'd all just listen to their ideas, this country could be saved.  We could party like it is 1776 and own us some Africans or maybe burn us some witches!

You've got about 80 years and are more than halfway done, enjoy it.  Just make sure you're ready for what comes after.

But his question has been answered many times.

"What are you doing to advance your no government agenda"

I have shrugged. I've gone on strike against the moochers. I have curtailed my business to the point that I can just pay the bills. The point being that I no longer pay tens of thousands of dollars in taxes to the military-industrial complex. I cut my own firewood, grow some of my own food, etc. I am supporting the beast as little as possible. Many here have said the same thing many times over the years. Anyone who missed it isn't paying attention.

Who you gonna vote for to stop government?

Myself.I am a sovereign individual as are you. Each of us has the right to stop funding the Bushs, Cheneys and Obamas and giving them moral cover. But the individual needs the strength in voluntarily organized numbers in order to have a chance against the sociopathic hoard that is government. Are you in?

I don't advocate for the oligarchs to take over like you.

Perhaps you haven't noticed but the oligarchs have been running the show for a long time. It's called "government." It sets up an elite class with the supposed moral authority to imprison or kill at will. It can only survive while victims continue to give their sanction to it.

You got some cruise missiles in your garage?

The US government can't even defeat guys with AK-47s.  But I prefer the Gandhi method. Stop supporting the system and gum up the works.

 Starting a revolution?

A guy who claims to have voted for Ron should know that the R3volution has been underway for some time.

Two simple questions. 1)  What happens to the oligarchs when government stops being the middle man?  2) when the Founders defeated the King of England, why did they set up an elected government to secure the freedom of the people from other oligarchs?

What happens to the oligarchs when government stops being the middle man?

An end to government will remove the mask of morality and legality which the oligarchs hide behind as they kill. Individuals will be free to voluntarily organize against their oppressors. But first those indivudauls must set themselves free in mind and spirit -- just as you'd like to do if you'd just be honest with yourself. Let the indoctrination go and start living your life as an individual.

when the Founders defeated the King of England, why did they set up an elected government to secure the freedom of the people from other oligarchs?

Baby steps.

"Individuals will be free to voluntarily organize against their oppressors."

That's called government of the people, for the people.  You know, the thing you are against.  The thing you are for is the King of ________, because that's who is taking fucking charge if we disband the government of the people, by the people.  You think the nuclear weapons are going to disappear into the ether?  You think the guys who own 90% of the shit right fucking now are going to give it back when we call a mulligan on elected government?  How do you propose we get back the stuff they already stole?

By the way, these are rhetorical questions because they already won.  And they convinced guys like you that we should stop fighting them and hold hands and ask for it back when we all "go Galt" and set up a free market system where everyone follows the rule of law without the force of the people behind it.    And unicorns will shit gold.

Billy the Poet's picture

That's called government of the people, for the people.  You know, the thing you are against.

All governments operate through a monopoly on violence. How can a government which organizes people by threatening them with guns and prisons be "for the people?" I don't know any people who claim the right to cage or kill their neighbors,  nobody except "statesmen," that is.

You think the nuclear weapons are going to disappear into the ether?

Nuclear weapons (and nuclear power) would never have been invented without the huge investment made in them by government. So now you say that we need government to control these terrible weapons created by government and in the meantime that same government is devising even more heinous methods of tyranny and death. You're playing a losing game.

By the way, these are rhetorical questions because they already won.  And they convinced guys like you that we should stop fighting them and hold hands and ask for it back when we all "go Galt"

You claim that government has already won and the fight is over and then you accuse me of giving up?

LetThemEatRand's picture

You answered none of my questions.  Let's just focus on one unless you have a time machine.  What is going to happen with the nukes when we decide to disband the current elected government and decide to hold hands and go Galt?

Okay, one more question.  What does any of this have to do with the article and why are you intent on hijacking it to pursue your trust fund agenda of handing over the keys to your dad and his friends?

What is going to happen with the nukes when we decide to disband the current elected government and decide to hold hands and go Galt?

What happened to the South African nukes in 1989?

What does any of this have to do with the article

The letter was addressed to Bush and Cheney. They ran the government that started the war, you know. Seems somehow relevant. And as far as unanswered questions and staying on topic goes, who are you going to vote for to end war?

there used to be a saying, "Suppose they gave a war and nobody came." Take that one step further and ask, "What if they had a government and nobody came?"

South Africa has a government you dumb ass.  Seriously?  That's your answer?  What happens to the nukes in America if we disband government in America.  Answer this simple question.  There's a hundred more like it when it comes to actually implementing your ideology, but I'll bet you can't even answer this one.

I've answered a half dozen ormore of your questions and you haven't answered mine. Why the double standard?

When government falls some nukes will be dismantled while others will disappear into unknown hands. It will happen that way because the systemis failing due to the violently oriented controlof government and as people like you refuse to address that issue the whole ballof wax is going to go up in flames. Be a man! Stop asking government to keep the peace through violent means. It's a losers game but there are plenty of innocents who you will take down with you through your obstinance to reality.

I know you would favor taking out Oligarchs and prohibiting them from government.

This is as it should be.

I think the Anarchists agree with you here.

1776 was a milestone that triggers Spain, France, Portugal, England to send spies and bankers to set up a Central Bank to gain control of the USA.

- Foreign adventures starting at least in 1870, agriculture corporations in South America & Caribbean.

Reminds me of the US Bank Memes

Started way back, but just going back to like 1880:

- Silver Certificates are no good, say the bankers
- Gold Certificates are no good, say the bankers
- US needs Central bank to keep the government from spending too much, moral hazard
- 1913 Federal Reserve Central Bank Created
- Stock Market is good, US Industry can rise forever
- After Crash and Depression, banks say the economy is not good, can't invest
- Public Banking is bad, Private Banking is the way out of Depression
- Government should stay out of banking
- Only Private Bankers have the skill to rate businesses
- Only Private Banks have the Skills needed to determine money policy for the people
- US needs a Fiat Currency

1. The oligarchs remain, yes they remain wealthy and powerful, but without government they lose the leverage that government provides. They go from being able to multiply their desires 100 fold to having to do it themselves.

2. The founders were oligarchs of their time.

Here, you start projecting strategy, but ask real question to this guy. But how would you know his strategy or life??

What will he do? It is hard for all of us to answer this.

Look the Enemy is the Bankers, Lobbyists, Politicians, and people that receive gifts... justices, universities, doctors...

So, to live in the solution... how do we proceed?

- We may need to strip oligarchs since they have unfair influence on the economy, if they hold back= recession, if the invest= boost
- who wants the economy to become like Castles, Manors, Regional monarchs??

Which government is the Rotshchild family elected by?  And where do they go when America goes Galt and disbands the military, the courts, and all public infrastructure?  Does the family magically disappear despite the trillions they already have (most of which is not in dollars or any other currency, but in land and other hard assets)?  Or do they raise private armies and take over once and for all?  Serious question.  Answer it.

Calm down and consider that government can only organize society by violence. As a civilized individual don't you think that it makes sense that a society organized according to the concept that each man owns himself and no man has a right to hurt another man or his property would serve us better?

Great idea, Billy, but you know...welcome to planet Earth. 'What if...' is as useful in a firefight as baggies and a t-shirt for armor. What's more, therre is no single instance in history of humans minding their own business. We just don't have the genetic material for empathy, compassion or tolerance. Those who do are generally murdered or sidelined and isolated by the greedy thugs who run things.

All you have to do to see what I mean is read the bigoted dumbfucks on ZH. No education, no control over their own mother-tongues, and shouting at the top of their lungs the same shit they decry in Jews, Blacks or anyone else they choose to hate. Its all bullshit. We are rats in a cage, and the fighting has begun. Last man standing, and all that stupid shit. All because of greed and bigotry.

Its like the Dire Straits song "Solid Rock,"..."When you point your finger 'cause your plans fell through, you got three more fingers, pointing back at you..."

Nothing will change for us until all of us realize that all of us have a right to exist in peace. As for me, I am not in favor of peace at present. Beautify the world, kill a bigot. Or a thousand. Cull the fucking herd. Anybody who says they have the only way, send 'em off to Pluto or something.

That's what I've been saying all along. I see such a realization as a worthy if difficult goal. As with everything else, you don't know until you try. Encouraging folks to act reasonably and responsibly sure as hell beats voting in another round of sociopaths.

Rand, it's a useful argument you make, and Anus and his crows will not understand a simple fact until age has (hopefully) left them wiser. We get bad government for the same reason we get serial killers and rapists. We get it for the same reason we have people by the hundreds of millions who live vicariously through their TV sets. People talk about this race or that being prejudiced against one or another different tribe. Religions nearly all spout the utter heresy that their god is omnipotent, and all others are false. It doesn't matter where you go, it is the same, and for the same reason: humans, despite all the genius and brilliance we posess, are still vicious animals, run by instinct and blind to anything farther away than the tips of their noses.

George and Dick will never find absolution. And maybe neither will the rest of us. The so-called R3evolution is a bust from the start. Humans are tribal, herd-inspired morons. We cannot function without government because we are infested with greed, and government is the best we have been able to come up with for dealing with our own sociopathic tendencies.

Anarchists are as full of shit as politicians, and no different. You cannot tear down what we have and make improvements unless those betterments are known and understood in advance of the change. Healthy societies require oligarchs and leaders, because most people don't have the first clue of governance. Diseased societies merely reflect what happens when the leadership is usurped by liars and thieves. And here we are. Swinging on the same historical pendulum that has been going back and forth for thousands of years.

Many of the posters here, these days, are a pack of nincompoop brats who have never taken a bullet, gone hungry or homeless, or stood in harm's way to protect a damned thing besides their self interest. Their resemblance to the current 'rulers' of the US, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia is remarkable. They just aren't as smart.

Tomas Young puts us all to shame, and rightfully so. We need a plan, an agenda that is stronger than George and Dick, and all they stand for. Until then, its just polemics.

RIP soldier, and well done.

Well you're right, but here's my point: when the British Empire, or really any empire you want to name held sway, the planet wasn't in danger of overpopulation by us. Resources were abundant, even if things like health care weren't. Prior to WW2, civilian casualties were a tiny fraction of the dead. Winston Churchill made the point that aerial warfare would change the entire nature and practice of conflict. Civilians and infrastructure would become the most numerous casualties of modern warfare.

Now we are stuck on a rock with nearly 9 billion people on it, most of whom cannot understand each other's speech, let alone motives. Resources are getting scarce, and economically out of reach for most.

It might sound utopian, but until we start dedicating more resources to bettering our species AND finding a way off this planet, we are just making our violent and shortsighted way towards the fossil record. I wonder how happy all the dollar bills and seats of power will be when we are no longer around to spend them?

We would allow Haciendas to keep land under 160-100 year old Independence Agreements. But what did they do. The rich in Mexico, South American keep "gaming" the system... they in fact own the banks. Big Surprise!

Now Lets review USA:

- British Empire Banking & Trade Policies are the Rule in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, United Stated... and on and on.

Wow.

- Free Trade is the British Empire Model. Who Knew???!!
- British Empire Model is: Serfs, Peons, Manors, Lords, Kings.

Wow.

Patriarchy is the Model. British Raj Empire is the Model. British Debt of Households is the Model. Real Estate Inflation and Bubbles are the Model of the British.

Hm... But the Neo-Feudal model is about indentured servants working the land, performing the labor... to serve the lord or Patron.

Hm... Well maybe the British Raj Model includes the Roman Empire, the Roman Church, and the Spanish Empire... for the Inquisitions... which are like the "Enhanced Stress Positions"..

- Old Models are best. We are an Empire. And fear works to create money streams, Land Grants, or monopolies

It might sound utopian but we have to collectively understand a lot more. It is not a game. it is war. And it is not nice, gentle, or beneficial.

Look this is about Empire & Dynasty Building.

Haha. We know how that all worked out in 2008 Financial Crisis. Boom & Bust. But the damage is no longer even transparent with non-standard accounting & non-standard financial instruments... and financial ratings firms are not reliable.

Private Bankers & Central Bankers were schemers from the 1900s. Today people are smart enough that many people can judge how to assess their own taxes and look at their own business accounting data.

Solution: Shift 2 million people out of Private Banks into Public Banks. This will help create downward pressure on private banking executive salaries... through downsizing their functions, their processes, and their purpose on Wall Street & London. Then break them down with Glass-Steagal Act and Anti-Trust Law. Then End the Fed.

I felt horrible about the Iraq war, the night it started I went and laid flowers on war memorial in my town. That was the night Bush came on TV and gave us five off the cuff reasons he would be bombing in the morning. That night my life changed and it has never been the same since. I just had a bad feeling it was the start of never ending war and a sense of doom took over my life.

Here we are 11/15/2014 and watching Barry Soetero and the rest of the Western Powers berate a leader for crimes he never committed, threatening not just horrible war in the Mid East, but World War 3.

The fact that people are willing to peel open the New York Times tomorrow and still play along scratching their chins just makes me sick.

I remember the start of Gulf War I. A Bush came on TV that night too. Bernard Shaw(?) was reporting live from Baghdad by holding a phone out of the hotel window so that the audience could hear the explosions. I was in my last year of college (on the ten year plan). My housemates and I posted a sign out front with a peace sign and the word "Honk." Folks were honking every few minutes until the next day when the cops came and took the sign down while we were at class.

Transformer - The sad reality is government criminals general get away with it. People have no choice but find better methods to defend against robbery. When you work for government you tow the line for better or worse. You play with the devil, you get burned by the devil.

A lot of people get lied to by government, myself included in the past but not anymore. I pay my government taxes to prevent external robbery but when they start robbing me instead they have to go and the non violent method is to withold production and taxes until it stops and of course I and the general population have to eat shit as it takes many years for such cycles to wind down.

LTER - This is no longer a "government for and by the people". That was a Republic which is gone and it is now a Monarchy. I agree there will always be government but it seems you have an agenda to support this one or as you say by not doing so you promote oligarchy. Something is not right about your head. When and if this government stops trying to shove a giant dildo up my ass and tell me its for my own good I am being robbed then maybe I'll go back to having a more favorable opinion of it. Nothing and no one is perfect but 911 showed me they are failing in there job to do what I pay them for. That's because there empire building is making them very rich and distracted from doing what they paid to do. So they should be fired. If I work for someone flipping burgers and I stop doing it and instead eat the resteraunts apple pies while flipping off the owner, I should be fired shouldn't I?

I am calling you out on your bullshit. Your a retard that if given the chance would be just as much a fascist pig as the people running this government. Fuck off dickweed.

Valid questions, Valid points. I can't figure any of this as I just read slow. Why does LTER engage us in so many questions.. to draw the people into enlightenment, when here at ZH so many are aware and informed?

He is a hard ass to stick with the hard line and make us all think of the old paradigms and old politics/history.

Clearly, LTER is short sighted. The debt will cause suffering to Latinos, Blacks, Asians on EBT... all people will lose wealth & comfort in the coming collapse.

Is LTER with us? Yes, he sees this. Not sure what the point in these threads is.

- But clearly if you are wealthy, hey you don't need to be hoarding capital, this is stagnant capital, why support lazy ass people that hoard capital????

LTER is Right in this. Executives are also hoarding capital, but LTER doesn't have a solution.

Meanwhile the Economy is starved for Industrial Capital.. but don't get up... it is nothing... it is called Brain Drain & Decapitalization.

Now tell me why you so adamantly believe I am rich. If I was rich (and had no morals) I'd support government 100%. I'd be in the club.

US war against Iraq killed 3.3 million Iraqis from 1990 to 2012.   Iraq is poisoned with depleted uranium and cancer rates are sky high now.  The atrocities committed in Iraq were enormous:

US Sponsored Genocide Against Iraq 1990-2012. Killed 3.3 Million, Including 750,000 Children

In an address last Nov. 22 to The International Conference on War-affected Children in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Boyle tallied the death toll on Iraq by U.S.-U.K. actions as follows:

# The slaughter of 200,000 Iraqis by President Bush in his illegal 1991 Gulf War I.

# The deaths of 1.4 million Iraqis as a result of the illegal 2003 war of aggression ordered by President Bush Jr. and Prime Minister Blair.

# The deaths of 1.7 million Iraqis “as a direct result” of the genocidal sanctions.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/us-sponsored-genocide-against-iraq-1990-201...

Madeline Albright admitted in 1996 on 60 minutes that 500,000 Iraqi had died due to sanctions but the price was worth it.  She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Obama in 2012:

Don't think all this sanctimonius Support the Troops BS the media and corporations spew is sincere.  It is Support MIC and the never ending wars.   If they support the troops or really the young people in uniform, they would not have endless wars of looting countries and mass murder.  War is a dirty business of murdering people for money and looting.

Keep your kids away from the military or expect your kid to end up dead or like this poor man who just died.  Wars are for banksters, oligarchs and defense contractors.  And the defense conbtractors like Lester AIPAC Crown and Bernie Schwartz are real scum.

There's a reason these fuckers don't recruit adults.  What did any of us really know when we were 18?

Looking back, do we believe we had the understanding and mentality of an adult?

These kids  ( and I know a good handfull of them) see this as an opportunity for affordable education or a trade, a paycheck, perhaps some structure and status, and a way out of circumstances unlikely to offer any chance of upward mobility. Seen the commercials lately? Lying motherfuckers glorifying the extinguishing of another human life, and who benefits?

Dollars sucked up by the Mega corporations and the astronomical expense placed upon taxpayers to care for these kids, as they face a lifetime of heartache, real pain, and disfigurement. All the while believing they were protecting us. Wow, the VA is overwhelmed. Who wouldda thunk...I guess these costs were not considered when we declared war on a pseudo enemy in order to advance someone's private agenda. But hey, just donate 19.00 per month to The Wounded Warriors Project you bleeding heart, tax paying gullible motherfucker, cause Cheney and his Ilk are currently indisposed, giving speeches, greasing shareholders, and bankrolling organizations that offer them cover.

Keep electing war mongers and you'll get more war.

Here's the answer...The Schwarzenegger effect...Elect ball players, actors and celebrities. They will fuck shit up, destroy their respective states and bankrupt the country. At that point we'll be too busy rebuilding the American Dream to conduct war, and we'll truly be tending to our own business.

Rant off Bitchez.

Nobody needs the Internet to understand what deep shit we're in,  because even the most important western thinkers of the 19th century, such as Karl Marx, Friedrick Nietzsche, and even Sigmund Freud,  had written tons of books about this fucking condition that kills us all. Let me quote Nietzsche's famous line, “Everything the State says is a lie, and everything it has it has stolen.”

The guy had a sound mind and body when the enlisted, knowing full well the risks, including the potential to be put in harm's way because of bad Presidential decisioning.  He could have chosen dishonorable discharge, or worked the system for a Section 8.  While my condolences go to his family and loved ones, he willingly chose his own fate.  Only at the end did he react with bitterness toward the top level within the chain of command.  This is not honorable.

Unless you have served in the military and seen combat I suggest you shut the @$# up.

This fake "honor" you are talking about is meaningless when veteran's are treated like dirt when they return. Have you somehow missed the stream of news over the past 2 years regarding the complete tragedy that the Veteran's Administration and Veteran's Hospitals are?  If they aren't going to be honored when they return after fighting a war based on lies, than what is this honor you are upholding?

Critical Mass Wedding   (15 November 2014)

·  Images purportedly document a Hamas-organized mass wedding of adult men and pre-pubescent girls in the Gaza Strip.

  Sharia Flaw   (14 November 2014)

·  Do circulating images depict a bloody Muslim ritual that took place in Atlanta?

Koch Druthers   (13 November 2014)

·  Did Congress eliminate the child tax credit, the earned income tax credit (EITC), and mortgage deductions from the tax code under pressure from lobby groups and the Koch brothers?

  Halal-Mart   (13 November 2014)

·  Have Walmart stores started offering Halal meat in their grocery sections?

  A Very Muslim Christmas   (13 November 2014)

·  Did a Maryland school district remove Christmas and Easter vacations from school calendars due to pressure from Muslim groups?

Hint: This may be why the above letter establishes Iran as America's enemy. .

Just as he was deceived by 911, his empire builders and leaders were also deceived by the anthrax attacks and the threats against the pet goat's plane on 911 and "terrorism" in general.  Why was Bush threatened on 911 and kept wandering aimlessly around the nation?  Where was Cheney?  Etc.  W... not guilty by reason of stupidity.

911 was used to sell hopium to the "no blood for OIL" left, as the Soros funded fronts protested the war but not the actual reason for it.  Operation Iraqi Liberation.  OIL.  Right.  Try, Israel Lobby and Likud.  Duh. I feel bad for this kid, but that doesn't absolve him of his responsibility.  His whole bit about, "if I got hurt in Afghanistan, it would have been okay", just goes to show how deluded he remains, even after all was taken from him.  At the end of the day, if nobody picks up a gun to do the will of the government, there are no foreign wars, there are no foreign occupations.  Everyone who picks up a gun to do the will of the government, whether domestically or abroad, bears responsibility.  Without people to willing to pick up guns at the behest of others, the Dick Cheney's of the world are irrelevent.

Because his stupid letter is FULL OF LIES - lies that serve neocon interests.

* Why is he trying to setup Iran as an enemy?

* Why does he LIE about there being a need for America to colonize Afghanistan?  Does he also want to secure the CIA's primary source of heroin?  Does he think that murdering Afghanis for bankster lies would have been OK?

...  This 'letter' is so full of manipulative lies that any straight thinker will have a lot of trouble believing it - but emotional dumbfucks will 'want to believe', since it was supposedly written by a 'true victim' at his deathbed...

In any case, blaming Bush and Cheney does NOT absolve him of his crimes.  He doubtless murdered many innocent Iraqis, just like the rest of the veterans the media would like us to 'honor' - but what's honorable about a fucking moron who never developed his critical thinking and instead ran out to fucking kill people based on lies?

Why did this guy remain so dumb, even to his dying day?  He reminds me a bit of Christopher Dorner, that ex-cop cop-killer who, even after rebelling due to the injustice he suffered for daring to cross the blue line, still professed to being a stupid fucking Obama-believer who supported gun control for the masses (but only not for ex-cops wanting to murder crooked cops).

These comments are not to you, more of a reaction to what you have said. I too have been stunned by how callous the comments have been.

My theory-- the truth of it hurts, they can't handle the pain, they have to distance themselves from how it makes them feel and so they come up with this "it's his fault" logic.

Your mothers and fathers, if they were competent, were very much in tune with their instinct to protect you. I have gone after my son in danger, more than once, even when I was terrified in the moment. I wasn't brave, I was compelled, my body pulled to do it. Those moments are frozen in my forever.

I had to laugh hard one day when my husband, after a bad accident, was on a walk with me, he was missing teeth, had his jaw wired, and his arm was in a sling. First time out from convalescence. Some men in a truck slowed down to harass me and he stepped in front of me and blew kisses at them, smiled with his broken mouth, and waved with his good hand. They were frightened in that truck of my injured husband, they herked and jerked, got the thing in gear, and got the hell out of there. Crazy. He had no plan for what would happen if they had stopped. But it was clear they were scared. I could tell other stories.

My point? This is a basic, wonderful, instinct, we have it in all kinds of situations in the face of all kinds of odds and it is being abused and manipulated, at the highest possible level for profit.  When you blame this dead young man and say he should have known better, I sure wish you would re-examine your logic.

BTW, what intense huge beautiful eyes he had. What a beautiful young man he was. I grieve for his mother if she is still alive. That heart ache can never be assuaged. NEVER.
