Kissinger Warns "We Need A New World Order"; Ukraine Should Forget Crimea & NATO
Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger spoke about global threats, the secession of Crimea and Ukraine's NATO accession
Mr. Kissinger said that there currently is an urgent need for a new world order, but its coming into being will be long and complicated.
"There are no universally accepted rules," said Mr. Kissinger in an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel. "There is the Chinese view, the Islamic view, the Western view and, to some extent, the Russian view. And they really are not always compatible."
Speaking of Crimea’s accession to Russia, he noted that this is a special case, as Ukraine and Russia were one country for a long time. In his view, the West must recognize its mistakes.
"Europe and America did not understand the impact of these events, starting with the negotiations about Ukraine's economic relations with the European Union and culminating in the demonstrations in Kiev," said Mr. Kissinger. "All these, and their impact, should have been the subject of a dialogue with Russia."
He is sure that Ukraine has always had a special significance for Russia. Failure to understand this was fatal, and the Ukrainian authorities can forget about the Crimean peninsula.
"Nobody in the West has offered a concrete program to restore Crimea," said Mr. Kissinger. "Nobody is willing to fight over eastern Ukraine."
In his opinion, introducing anti-Russian sanctions was a mistake.
"We have to remember that Russia is an important part of the international system, and therefore useful in solving all sorts of other crises, for example in the agreement on nuclear proliferation with Iran or over Syria," Mr. Kissinger said. "This has to have preference over a tactical escalation in a specific case."
He added that Ukraine should not hope to become a member of NATO in the foreseeable future, as the alliance will never vote unanimously for the accession of Ukraine.

Indeed, Kissinger does not list all the "competing" viewpoints.
Given Kissinger's history, it is hard to believe that he regards the "mistakes" of current US policy as anything other than "mistakes" in the long and "complicated" road of establishing the particular world order that he has pursued.
He describes the problem as competing viewpoints, when instead it is more competing SYSTEMS, with some systems inherently much more aggressive than others.
The drive for world domination of resources, markets, finances, and military is not simply a product of a "viewpoint" of US exceptionalism. The institutions and organizations which promote that self-serving "viewpoint" are also enriched and empowered by the policies made under that ideological banner.
Kissinger appears to be one of many who will fault alleged 'mistakes' toward achieving comforting sounding policy aims (peace, freedom, etc.),
but never fault the real goals (unbridled materialism, domination of resources etc.) and the organizations and institutions that have evolved in aggressive and deadly pursuit of such goals.
He may talk of delaying Ukraine's entry into NATO, but never of disbanding NATO.

“The keys to better international coordination include the strength of political will of national leaders to overcome nationalistic sentiment and regional and sectoral interests and the depth of understanding by the general public of the implications of global interdependence. It is extremely important to build up informed public opinion in all Trilateral countries…”, i.e., to use TPTB’s considerable influence with the mass media to propagandize the people.

It’s impossible to have a complete picture of what’s happening without reading your radical opposition.

Of course, a critical background comes from important texts that I use almost every day. And for the current problems facing America, no other book is more important than “The Creature from Jekyll Island” by G. Edward Griffin. Griffin’s book and Eustace Mullins’ book, “Secrets of the Federal Reserve," both spill the beans on the operations and secrets of the international banking cartel as well as on its international politics—from Kissinger, to Quigley, to Marx and the Warburgs.
The most important thing is to know who’s talking, where it’s coming from. When I go to Salon, I know who’s talking.
