Grand Jury Decision Unlikely This Weekend As Private Security Move "Guns & Gold" Out Of Ferguson
Sporadic confrontations and violence between protesters and police continued to occur overnight in Ferguson as multiple news agencies report grand jury considering whether to indict the Ferguson police officer who shot and killed teenager Michael Brown is unlikely to meet and render a decision this weekend. The fear, as we have previously noted, is a major uprising as one sign protested, "if the killer cop walks, AmeriKKKa Halts," and as Fox reports, Brown family attorney is managing expectations, "99% of the time the police officer is not held accountable for killing a young black boy," Crump said. "The police officer gets all the consideration." There is, however, another potential reason for delaying the decision's reporting, as VICE reports, business owners in the St. Louis, Missouri area have hired private military contractors to transport guns and gold, fearing their shops will be targeted by looters if a grand jury does not indict.

The grand jury considering whether to indict the Ferguson police officer who shot and killed teenager Michael Brown is unlikely to meet and render a decision this weekend, sources told Fox News on Saturday.
Those same sources say it is likely the grand jury will wait until Monday to reconvene.
The 12-member grand jury has been considering whether charges are warranted against Officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed the 18-year-old Brown on Aug. 9 during a confrontation on a street in Ferguson. Wilson is white and Brown, who was unarmed, is black.

On Saturday, the authorities set up barricades around the Buzz Westfall Justice Center in Clayton, which is where the grand jury has been meeting.
Barricades also went up in the shopping center parking lot on West Florissant Avenue in Ferguson, which was where police set up a makeshift command center in the immediate aftermath of Brown's death.

"I just hope it stays peaceful," Freeman said of protests that will follow the grand jury decision. "We all have human emotions, bit there's a way to do things, and violence, you can't get peace from violence."
Crump, the Brown family attorney, seemed doubtful that Wilson would be charged, saying the grand jury process is weighted against those shot by police officers.
"Ninety-nine percent of the time the police officer is not held accountable for killing a young black boy," Crump said. "The police officer gets all the consideration."
And as VICE reports, business owners are growing increasingly anxious of the consequences...
Business owners in the St. Louis, Missouri area have hired private military contractors to transport guns and gold, fearing their shops will be targeted by looters if a grand jury does not indict Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown in the St. Louis County suburb of Ferguson.
"There's a lot of people that brought in a lot of money to have people secure their assets," said Stephen King, owner of Metro Shooting Supplies gun shop, a 15-minute drive from Ferguson. "Some of those people spent $10 an hour on security guards and some people have $1,000 a day private contractors."
King confirmed that gun shops in the area are hiring private military contractors to escort the transport of their guns to secure locations. A private military contractor who spoke to VICE News on condition of anonymity said that more than 300 private military contractors, or PMCs, have been contracted for work in direct response to Ferguson security concerns.

"We've got our hands in a bunch things" related to security in the Ferguson area, said Ogden, a former Navy SEAL who was featured on the National Geographic reality program, Survival Alaska.
"If you are a business owner and you are in the business of selling firearms and you're in an area where shops have been looted, burned down, property stolen, you now have the responsibility to society to ensure to do everything possible to make sure that those firearms do not get into the hands of the wrong people."
"We got everything out last week, we put it back on Monday," said Duke, who had heard the grand jury decision would be announced on a Sunday. "This weekend it's going out again. A lot of it has already been moved." Moving his product back and forth comes at quite a cost, though exactly how much he wouldn't say.
He noted that the dollar value of the product being moved to secure offsite locations is in the millions.
"I'm not like a pawn shop, I don't buy TVs," he said. "I have precious metals. We have a law here that whatever you buy you have to hold for five days. So all those stores had those five days worth of business there. I'm a very large buyer so that's a large amount of money."

"We're going to have to do whatever we have to do legally to defend ourselves against some type of violent threat. It wouldn't be a brain surgeon that's going to be coming to our store to attack us," he said. "We know what we're going to do but they don't know, and that's the way we want to keep it."

I am part time involved in live tv broadcast. Mostly college level sports. I asked, some time back , " how do these low level events justify the expense to broadcast ". ( these events involve quite a bit of labor and equipment, very costly).
Answer " The game is already happening. We don't have to produce the content. We just show up, put it on the air, and sell ads" . Interpretation, the production of the content is the real expensive part.

Nonsense. The *only* source of any allegation the he was even *in* the store is the PD. The owner of the store himself disputes it's the same person. He also asserts no 911 call was ever placed.
You say the 2nd camera shows a person paying for cigars, which sounds untrue. The shop owner says that he was robbed and was heading to the door to lock it and was forced by the robber out of the way. The shop owner is disputing whether it was Michael Brown, not that he was robbed.

I looked at some grainy photos and it looks like the guy laying on the street is wearing very similar clothes as the guy robbing the store. If I were the shop owner, I might have motives to be "unsure" about whether MB did it or not. Who wants that kind of scrutiny from then angry community.

I don't know about that - saving money, then lending it to family members to start a business isn't just an Asian thing. There seems to be a strong tradition of saving money and investing in family businesses among people of european ancestry as well. Certainly some recent immigrants have relatively menial businesses, but what's wrong doing laundry, then using your hard earned money to help family members get a start?
It works the other way too. A colleague of mine from my cell phone design days sponsored his family, and he started a restaurant in addition to his day job. In addition to designing integrated circuits, he then had a second job making sure the restaurant was running smoothly. Sometimes you have to do things to help your family. Success is not guaranteed by working hard, saving, and looking after your family, but it is much more likely you will be successful if you do these things.
I'm sure the asians will not mind if you use these ancient chinese secrets for success. It is action more than race that determines destiny.

One of my missions as I hang out here is instead of calling folks names, is to understand their perspectives and how they come to the conclusions they come to. The danger with over generalization is you hurt the innocent. The advantage of it is if you don't deal with "those kinds of people" you feel safer. And so they look at statistics and the end result and not root causes.
Jews, on average, got low IQ test scores back in the earlier part of the 20th century. When they started getting enriched services (they started earning money here in the US) their IQ scores came up. Blacks have low IQ scores, on average. When you give them genuinely enriched services and resources, their IQ scores go up. Poverty is a player. Poverty creates a culture of dispair. You tell folks to work hard and get out of it, but unless it is role modeled for them it really is difficult. They get the "handouts" but they are resentful of it. They know damn well the culture hates them. Many hate themselves. That is a lot to ask folks to just "shake off."
Now, when you look under the skin of this stuff, when folks face off with folks--Boomers and Millenials, Blacks and Whites, Men and Women, Wealthier and Poorer--it keeps them intent on these distractions and their eyes off the prize, the fact that there is a tiny group at the top controlling everything. If we took it away from them, they would not have it, it is really easy. But when we do this horse-shit kind of fighting, we fall into distraction and lose sight of the biggest picture. Cure that and a lot of the racism, classism, religionism, and more, will largely evaporate. No one trusts the system so we aim that distrust at each other.
You and I fall into it when we just go off half cocked insulting folks who we think are being racist or whatever, particularly if we are "racist" "sexist" or "classist" etc. back. My posting history is filled with this kind of stuff, too. I do think reflecting on the very biggest picture is challenging because we are angry, hopeless, and set in our ways. the real question here is why Ferguson? we see blatant cop on civilian violence every day, none of which has generated this type of tension, media hype and potential for disaster. and the funny thing is this might actually be one of those rare incidents where it was justified as an act of self defense, at least that's what the evidence that has been made public suggests. I mean we have cops out there beating, murdering, raping and stealing from the serfs 24/7 to the point where it has clearly become more dangerous for a person to call 911 than it is to deal with the crises themselves, medical emergencies being the exception.
I have no doubt the shooting of Brown was an unscripted, organic event but everything that has happened since reeks of manipulation and provocation. it's as if this situation is being groomed and steered to become something more than it would have been otherwise. the media coverage is a dead give away, notice you can't go more than two spoken or written sentences with out being reminded that Brown was black and Wilson is white. notice that all the usual race baiting suspects have come out of the wood work from the KKK to various black militant groups. all of this to make certain that this mutates from a question of police using excessive force (which is the real issue we have in this police state) to the age old divide and conquer routine of race relations.
Ferguson is looking like a text book psy-op.

One of the 82 "major American" cities where planned protests are scheduled to take place is Kennesaw, GA, the city that passed the resolution in 1982 that every homeowner was required to own a firearm. For those of us who lived and worked in Detroit the last 50 years Ferguson’s Michael Brown is just another blip on the radar. In Detroit it was Malice Green. Detroit Mayor Young stated that Green was "literally murdered by police" on national television which started a Ferguson like protest in Detroit.
Malice Green was a resident of Detroit who died while in police custody after being arrested by white Detroit cops Walter Budzyn and Larry Nevers on November 5, 1992 during a routine traffic stop. The official cause of death was ruled due to blunt force trauma to his head.
Malice Green allegedly failed to relinquish a vial of crack. Nevers struck Green in the head with his flashlight approximately 14 times during the struggle which, according to the official autopsy, resulted in his death. After the struggle Green was transported to a local hospital for treatment for the head injuries sustained in the struggle where he died.
Officers Nevers and Budzyn, were charged in the death of Malice Green. Nevers and Budzyn were convicted of second-degree murder and their lives were ruined. What was ignored in the trial was a report presented by medical experts testifying for the defense that stated that Green died of heart failure, caused in part by an enlarged heart due to years of substance abuse, and which was aggravated by the struggle with police.
In recent years we are now seeing local incidents with young black men (Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown,…) coming center stage nationally as blacks feel they must shed the ‘yoke’ of white oppression while they have a black president. I think that ALL cops should be issued single-action revolvers ONLY, then maybe they will take more careful aim and fire with much greater discretion rather than blasting away like machine guns as though they were in a fire fight in Afghanistan.
My favorite example is the much vaunted LAPD firing 60 or 70 rounds into the back window at two old asian ladies who were delivering newspapers on their daily morning route. This was a year or so ago.
The were the wrong race, the wrong gender, the wrong number of suspects, in a different vehicle than that of the suspect.
