As I recall, several of the generals, all graduates of West Point, are standing around camp discussing evolution with a representative of the English Crown. The punchline being that none of them were willing to stipulate that General Lee was the descendant of an ape.

It doesn't matter if the cop was KKK. In this particular case, it looks like you could convince a reasonable person that the cop may have feared great bodily harm or death, even if he was KKK. On the flip side, Ferguson police are abusive, and the residents don't like them. I guarantee that they have done some shit that would make many ZHers a little more sympathetic towards the protestors (not the rioters and looters) than just shooting Brown. But the people in Ferguson picked Brown as the flash point for their anger. This is a case of stupid colliding. This is dumb cops vs dumb populace. I dislike the very idea of police to begin with, nor do I like the KKK, but I have seen nothing to indicate that, for this particular case with this particular cop, there was enough evidence to convince a jury that he didn't fear for his safety. Now, whether under similar circumstances, I would be treated the same by a grand jury is another discussion, but if we're going to have a system with laws, they are useless if we let our emotions get the better of us and just fry people because we don't like what they stand for or represent. That is exactly what the rioters are doing, and innocent people are suffering because of it.
There was no jury it was a kangaroo court to see if he violated the blue code enough to go to a trial for murder. Cops dont convict there own.
So why not choose from the literal laundry list of open-and-shut cases of police overzealousness killing innocent people? Why build a mass protest around the muddled case of a teen thug being (likely) lawfully put down by a cop?

Update: Apparently several high schools are having sit-ins, where one can do one's protesting in comfort, and some sort of protest is planned on the U of M campus later today.
In a related matter, I live in town and have recently had to start driving out to the suburbs to do my grocery shopping because at my local Cub grocery store on Maryland Avenue in St. Paul I have been accosted by beggers on several occasions right inside the store.
Don't try the Cub on Hwy 7 and Texas Ave South.
The one on White Bear Avenue seems to be begger-free at present.

Clearly, as the nation watched the unfolding of the violence, following the verdict, the police and the national guard were not fully deployed. Time and time again, the St. Louis media is accusing Holder and the Justice Department of being the source of the leak. Since St. Louis officials and the Justice Department were conducting a joint investigation into the shooting of Michael Brown, who else could have leaked the decision?
