Circumstances weren't murky. Thug leaned inside the window to confront an agent of law enforcement. Proof is in the burnt gunpowder on, and damage to, his finger - and bullet pulled from the passenger-side door. The damage to his finger, and residue on it, could only come from having his hand on or close to the gun when it was fired at the passenger-side door. Bullet in passenger-side door indicates a struggle for control of the gun.
At other end of confrontation, thug's blood was discovered 25 feet behind where he finally fell. Proving that he had turned around and was moving toward the cop, instead of kneeling down in surrender.

The "young man" was preparing to murder a police officer for telling him to get out of the street. He was high, and had just finished roughing up a man while stealing some cigars to roll some more blunts. After already having been shot once, he charged the cop, who had his weapon drawn and aimed.
When someone dies needlessly, we mourn their loss. When Michael brown dies, we can't help but think of all the people who will not be beaten, robbed, or murdered at his hands.

NBC news stayed on one burning police car for almost an uninterrupted half-hour. At that time in the evening, that was the only thing on fire, yet they continued to run it as the only image in split screen with the studio camera.
At that time, there were thousands of peaceful protestors on the street. The police fired tear gas at both the front and the back of the peaceful protestors as they retreated.
Later the news wondered where all the peaceful protestors had gone. I think the police successfully pissed off several thousand protestors and then, oh, wow, suddenly the place is burning down.
Imagine that.
I noticed the car thing too. Yeah the media wants the story to be as sexy as possible. It could well be that instantly training a dozen cameras on the first broken window guaranteed the fuckery that followed.

My wife and I recently took a trip to St Louis. On the cab ride to the airport, which is north of St Louis, I saw some of the worst squalor and dilapidation that I have ever witnessed with my own eyes: Housing projects with the roofs burned out and people hanging out on the porch like it's no big deal, graffiti everywhere, boarded up windows, etc. I saw entire neighborhoods that looked like they should immediately be bulldozed.
There is no hope for these people. It's not whitey's fault, they did it to themselves.

The graphic I saw yesterday said it was 3/4 white, 1/4 black (higher than normal population distribution) and that there was a mixture of male and female, which I did not notice.

Why should this matter if the jurors are using the law to make their decision?

Juries should be secret. Just like the police should be secret. We read the posts, "Go to the COPs house..." (Which I agree with).... But how can we have a polite society if we know the identities of the protectors?

LOL - jurors are about the only ones that aren't secret. Years ago I was on a murder trial in Cook County and I was shocked at who was in the room when they made you state your name, address, how many people in family, where you worked, etc. The defendant is there, and there were a few people sitting in the chairs behind the railing - no idea who they were but from the way they were dressed I assumed they were part of the defendants entourage.

The GJ makeup was three blacks and nine whites. It likely is reasonably representative of St. Louis CO., but not Ferguson, since it is drawn from the county not the city. Apparently it is illegal to reveal the racial demographic of the GJ vote breakdown so that is not known. Apparently it takes more(?) than nine votes for an indictment. The officer wasn't indicted. I wonder if they indicted a ham sandwich, instead?
