Two FBI Agents Shot Near Ferguson Protests
While the second day of protests in Ferguson were far more contained as a result of the tripled presence of national guard troops in the St. Louis suburb, with media instead focusing on events in New York, LA and other major metropolitan centers, St. Louis violence failed to avoid the headlines for another day when shortly before 3 am, two FBI agents were shot early Wednesday morning in north St. Louis County.
Rebecca Wu, an FBI spokeswoman, says the shooting happened at approximately 2:53 a.m. She says two special agents were shot while helping the University City Police Department execute an arrest warrant at a home on North Hanley Road, near Monroe Avenue.
Quoted by USA Today, Wu says one agent was shot in the shoulder, the other was shot in the leg. Their injuries are non-life threatening. Police officials say someone is barricaded inside the home.
At least two dozen police and other emergency vehicles responded to the shooting.
Police are looking into the possibility this could be related to an incident late Monday in University City where a police officer was shot in his chest.
The good news according to Reuters, is that this latest assault was "not directly related" to racially charged unrest in and around nearby Ferguson, an agency spokeswoman said. "The incident is not directly related to the Ferguson protests," Wu said, but did not elaborate further.
That said, considering how tense the situation in Ferguson - and around the country - already is, somehow we doubt the authorities would voluntarily seek to inflame tensions any further.

When your cultural mythology gets too far out of line with your actual values, stuff gets really weird unless you get very real with yourself and discard the parts of your belief system that aren't working anymore. This is what alcoholics and drug addicts have to do in treatment programs before they can get on with living useful lives. America desperately needs to do this on so many levels I could spend all day listing them.
In this particular case, we have the sado-sexual fetishization of all things military. We've turned everyone who wears any kind of uniform into a "Hero," by virtue of the uniform alone, regardless of actions or motivations. Then we've let police, TSA agents, private security guards, mall cops, bus monitors, meter readers and anyone else with the gall to try it take on that mantle of military hero-worship.
The problem is, army guys get shot. That's where the whole hero-worship thing started. But nobody wants their loved one to get shot. So we insist that our "Heroes" must never get shot. That's why we have Drone Wars etc.; because none of our "Heroes" must ever get shot. But when we make Cops into Army Guys, they get shot.
The people who shoot Army Guys are not "Terrorists." They're The Other Army's Guys. That's what Army Guys do to each other. They shoot each other. That's why, in the primitive militaristic mythology we fetishize, they're "Heroes." Because they do what they do, knowing they're going to get shot.
But when you make everybody a "Hero," and then insist that none of them ever get shot, you've created a null hypothesis. You're dividing by zero. You can't have it every which-way. If Everyone with a gun, a badge, and matching jerseys is a Heroic Army Guy, they're gonna get shot. By definition.
The worst part of this cognitive dissonance of contradictory cultural mythology and values is that history is very clear on a few things. One of them is that when a war-like, violence-loving people start feeling persecuted and sorry for themselves, something awful always happens on a large scale. Thugcop rules of engagement need to change. However, I support the right to self-defense, including the use of lethal force. The grand jury looking at this and decided there was not sufficient evidence to charge the cop. Barring evidence that the grand jury was tampered with, or new evidence coming forth, I'm going to have to believe justice was served here. The thug-cop 'catch-all' legal justification for killing is 'I felt my life was in danger'. I think in the line of duty, this definition needs to be further honed. These cops are trained, they wear body armor, and they are ARMED. In a situation where a 300 pound guy is walking toward you and menacing, I think a cop should HAVE TO give ground and repeatedly warn/instruct against coming closer. Only when they can no longer retreat, or they are fired on, or engaged physically (being punched), should a cop be enabled to use lethal force. What I'm suggesting is that cops should have to use more options prior to lethal force than Joe Citizen.
Like citizens, cops should also be professionally and legally held accountable for every round they fire. I too am DONE with 37 or more round thugcop fusillades near the Empire State Building where 7-9 innocent bystanders are hit.
That said, if a feral chimp comes at a police officer, at some point they should be exterminated. Based on the current law, there has no crime. A grand jury said so. As long as law enforcement insists on performing "dynamic entries" on the homes of suspects who have warrants -- instead of a couple of officers staking them out and arresting them when they're out and vulnerable -- there are going to be more shootings and deaths of both suspects and police than there ought to be.
I think the fact that normal police practices do not require dozens of officers dolling up for the mirror in all that sexy SWAT gear, is why they're not popular with today's LEOs.
Bottom line, dynamic entry for mere warrant service is an unsound police practice. Save it for cos-play with your bitches, bitchezzzzz......
