FBI Report Accidentally Exposes The Severity Of The Police State

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Cary Wedler via Alt-Market.com,

A recently published FBI report accidentally proves that while the police claim cops face growing threats from rowdy populations–like in Ferguson–the opposite is true. The report presents law enforcement deaths in 2013.

The report found that across the entire country, only 76 LEOs were killed in “line-of-duty” incidents. 27 died as a result of “felonious” acts and 49 officers died in accidents–namely, automobile (ironically, of the 23 killed in car accidents, 14 were not wearing seat belts–a violation for which cops routinely ticket drivers). More officers die from accidents than actual murders on the job. The report also outright admits that intentional murders of cops were down from 2004 and 2009.

Further, 49,851 officers were assaulted–a statistic that seemingly proves police are at risk. 29.2%, or 14,556, were actually injured (an admittedly high number). Still, a suspect fact is that 79.8% of the time, “assailants used personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.).” This means that in a vast majority of cases, there was no physical evidence that assault occurred (outside of potential bruises and cuts, but this information is not public). Punches and kicks can be damaging, but nowhere near firearms and knives, which constituted a very small percentage of “assaults.” The report also does not specify what constitutes an “injury,” making designations of injury potentially arbitrary and subjective.

This means that the common police tactic of misrepresenting scuffles and charging people with assault could be at work (such as when a cop squeezed the breast of an Occupy protester so hard he left a bruise and in the chaos, she accidentally elbowed a cop. She went to jail for “assaulting” an officer). Of course, it’s a possibility that all 49,851 officers were simply “doing their jobs,” but at the very least it is important to be skeptical.

But besides direct contradictions to the logic behind institutional myths of heroic cops and dangerous bad guys, what are the implications of this FBI report?

First, that police are schizophrenic in their belief that they are in danger (this fear is proven in the recent Ferguson protests and presence of the National Guard). The overzealous militarization of local cops is enough to prove that they might as well be hiding under blankies from the American populace in spite of the fact thatviolent crime has been dropping for decades.

However, considering how well cops are armed and how efficiently the justice system protects them from prosecution for their crimes, they prove to be paranoid. 27 police officers in a country with over 300 million people died last year. Law enforcement deaths-by-murder are included in the 49,851 “assaults” against officers, which means that .05 (half a percent) died as a result of alleged attacks. Crime against cops has dropped to a 50 year low. It’s more dangerous to drive a car than be a cop (this is bolstered by the fact that the number of cops who died in car accidents almost equals the total number of cops murdered–23 to 27).

Second, militarization is working for the police. It is not working for the rest of us. Though there is little reliable, official data about the number of people police kill every year, tenuous reports claim it is around 400. This is already almost 15 times more than police who are intentionally killed. However, the 400 figure is a result of 17,000 local police agencies being allowed to self-report. The numbers could be far higher.

As Tech Dirt said of a 2008 FBI report that found cops had killed 391 people in 2007:

“That count only includes homicides that occurred during the commission of a felony. This total doesn’t include justifiable homicides committed by police officers against people not committing felonies and also doesn’t include homicides found to be not justifiable.

But still, this severe undercount far outpaces the number of cops killed by civilians.”

The number of “justifiable” homocides was on the rise in 2008 (to be fair, it was rising among private citizens as well) in spite of the inconvenient fact that overall crime has been declining.

Unfortunately, the most important implication of the FBI report is the simple fact that the report exists. When the FBI takes the time to construct a meticulous report (you can read more details here) of all the ways that a tiny percentage of cops were killed–but cannot be bothered to officially count civilian deaths at the hands of cops, the reality is obvious:

The governemnt places a higher priority on their own than on the lives of those they claim to “serve,” “protect,” and “work for.” It cares more about exonerating the police of their crimes than providing justice to those they abuse. There is no justice when the criminal is the cop.

All cops are predators.  100% of them.  How can we know?  Just look at what is considered "an infraction" today.  Simply living your life is an infraction, according to their "justice system".  Which means, everyone enforcing those rules is necessarily a predator.  And if any of them actually REFRAINS from assaulting people for innocent acts, then they are stealing their salaries from everyone.  So any way you figure it, all cops are predators.  Case closed.

It's like I said before. A crime (or infraction) in which the government is the sole victim, is a political crime, period. Helmet and seatbelt violations are political infractions (revenue generators), drug laws (especially mere posession), gun laws, unpopular speech and gatherings of unsanctioned individuals with not so popular or widespread ideas (Free-speech zones, anyone?). All political crimes. Think about it.

Yet gunfire deaths is up 65% in 2014. Not too surprised its not mentioned at all. Just taking advantage of a one year drop in an effort to make a point.   As for Ferguson, one has to ignore the evidence to draw the same conclusion as the author.

Did you see that apparently, the Prosecutor gave the Grand Jury in Ferguson a law that was ruled unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court in 1985, on which their decision to not indict was based.  The invalid law said that the police could shoot a fleeing suspect.  Things just seem to get curiouser and curiouser.  How could the Prosecutor not have known this?

I know of a person who was employed by law enforcement who also moonlighted in the illegal profession of burglary.

One night, while at work at a work site, a closed for the day business, the law enforcement officer was surprised by a worker of the business who was doing some after hours work.  The worker did not know the police officer moonlighting as a burglar was in the building, but the officer knew the worker was  there.  The off duty officer picked up his burgling tools, grabbed his pistol, emptied the chamber at the head of the worker.  The worker was not killed, played dead while the burglar turned murderer re-loaded his police issued firearm, to kill the worker if he was still breathing, believing he was dead, one shot grazed his head near his ear, he would have killed the worker.

He immediately left the crime scene, a police officer leaving a crime scene, exited the building, saw another worker as he was leaving, shot the other five times, the worker died.

He would have never been discovered as the perpetrator of the crime had he just killed the other worker.

Everybody makes mistakes and police officers do make mistakes that cost them their own freedom.

The bullets used were issued by the police force, so the police knew there was a problem.

Just another day in paradise.

We are living in interesting times it seems, eh folks?

Complete and utter lawlessness across the board, but especially at the top.  To the officer of the law who posted on this thread, we have tried mate, have we fucking not.  I have voted, I have contacted local, regional, and national representitives of all the major parties in this country about the massive, and I fucking mean HUGE MASSIVE endemic, institutionalised, insidious child abuse that permeates these sceptered isles.  I've even phoned the fucking law, more times than I care to mention here, and guess what Mr Officer?

You do nothing, you protect and serve alright, them, those you are sworn to uphold, not so much?

We cant go on like this, even as I type this, the British authorities are doing everything in their power to cover up and hide child abuse by those sitting in our own cabinet, including you fine upstanding officers of the fucking law.  Ever heard of 38degrees.org?

The people will be heard Mr Officer, and if by doing so, we take the law into our own hands, who fucking caused it then?  Do you take us all for the cunts that you are?  The people are legion, you are nothing but cogs covering shit.

Do your fucking job, do the job we pay you well for.  Arrest and prosecute this filth, stop covering the fuckers up.

Do your fucking job, and do it before do it for you.

Utter, fucking, lawlessness, in our times.

Now fucking think on that.

Ladies and gents of America. You are living through the collapse of the republic into a fully fledged empire, with at some point an emperor. The police are the tool of internal control for the powers that be.

It's too late to reverse the process, the bread and circuses will make sure of that though it'll probably take a couple of decades to run through and you  have a publicly acknowledged "strong leader" who will "fix everything".

Once complete, dissent will not be permitted.

When dealing with a cop assume you are dealing with a dangerous criminal made more dangerous because they are backed up by a criminal system. Then act accordingly, being polite, minimalist, watchful, on full alert. If you have to tell them anything, get a good lawyer there first. The worst thing you can do is trust them.

Fire and police protection are a fire extinguisher and 44 magnum.  Same as it ever was.  ACCOUNTABILITY?   Zero.  Proper leadership,  Zero..  Two parent families?  Maybe 45%.  Civil Servant Unions.  100%.  Hero Worship.  100%.  Kids are brainwashed that cops and firemen are heroes from an early age.   Ever see a meat cutter doll?  Ever see a bricklayer doll?  Steel worker doll?

This country is fucked from the bottom up to the top down.  No one is accountable.  MsCreant.  I like your posts and agree damn near 100% of the time with you.  But,  you work in a ponzi scheme education system and will retire with 100% of your ponzi pension.  The students coming into your system can't read or do fractions.  My middle daughter is a high school teacher in the public school system.  The kids she gets from the middle school level can't read or write at the 8th grade level to be passed into high school.  So the high school teachers can blame the middle school teachers.  And on and on and on .

ACCOUNTABILITY?   NONE>  All levels of public government including law enforcement there is little to no accountability.  IF someone has the balls to try to bring that to someones attention they are usually strong armed out of town hall or city council meetings by the men and women in blue.  My local cop department is now sending cops on my tax dollar to other countries to recruit Spanish speaking cops.  Yes,  we have to recruit cops who speak a non native language from other countries.  Average five year cop in NW chicago suburbs makes 85K a year.  Patrolman.  Not Sargeant.  Retire after 25 years with 90% of last years salary for life.  Some as young as 48 with 25 years of service.

Private business in America is accountable.  If you don't take care of your customers they go somewhere else.  We can't go somewhere else in communitites where we live so as citizens we either police the police or they run amok.  I have a hunting buddy who is a K 9 cop.  He is also first call SWAT sniper.  He is salt of the earth.  Straight shooter.  No bullshit.  We bow hunt together in  a county where there is never legal gun deer season.  While in the field one afternoon the local game warden called my buddy to ask him if he was carrying his piece off duty.  He wanted my buddy to help him with a couple hunters he was going into the field to  check on.  My buddy said yes and went into the field with him across from where we bow hunted.

The two men were hunting over a bait pile,  with center fire rifles,  with resident hunting licenses for archery season purchased by lying about living in Illinois,  not even gun season at the time in the rest of the state.  So.  The men were breaking a myriad of laws and could have lost their firearms,  vehicle and been banned from hunting in the state for five years.  Because they were using illegal weapons they could have had felony charges issued as well.  My buddy being a cop where these violations took place could have come down hard on them.  He didn't.  He returned to finish his afternoon hunt.  The game warden conviscated the rifles and wrote the game law violations.   Done.

Not all cops are assholes.  They also aren't preventing crime.  They respond.  Just like firemen.  They respond.  In Illinois law it is impossible to screw with their pension plans.  It is written into law.  Do I feel sorry for them?  Nope.  Do I want to be a cop or fireman?  Nope.  Do I want them retiring after 25 years with 90% of their salary til they die at age 84?  Nope.  Have I done anything about it?  Yes I have.  I got a man who wants to change how they get paid and their retirement packages addressed elected to city council.  He hopes to move on to a state office in the future.  It is how our government is supposed to work.  Am I naive?  Maybe.  Do I think he will make a difference? Maybe.  Did I do something other than sit on my ass and complain ?  Yes.

America was built by hard work by hard working people with some regard for others and private property rights being respected.  I had run ins with cops in my wild wooly days.  I don't reccomend it as eventually you are always out numbered.  We do know where they live.  The internet works for everyone.  Is there  hope that this country is fixable?  I used to think there was.  I am not sure but I do know this,  we are not Syria and we are not Zimbabwe,  not yet.  Good day to all.

A lot of disrespect for the police displayed here, some of it oviously deserved. Executing 12 year olds is way beyond the pale.

My theory is the police are attracting many of the wrong people.  I spent some time at an educational institute that offered some courses designed for those wanting to get into police work.  Day after day I'd notice in the large lunchroom a group of youths sequestered by themselves while other students milled about freely.  Curious, I asked, who are those people? The answer was immediate and dripping with contempt: "Oh! "That's enforcement".

What better job for a young person with hidden sociopathic intentions than police work?  Surely, reading the news today it's time for deep pyschological testing before anyone is permitted to carry a gun and an "enforcement" badge.

Most Dangerous Jobs In America
Being a cop is a little more dangerous than driving a taxi cab, but not as dangerous as collecting garbage:

1. Fishers and related fishing workers - 111.8 fatalities per 100,000
2. Logging workers - 86.4 fatalities per 100,000
3. Aircraft pilots and flight engineers - 70.7 fatalities per 100,000
4. Structural iron and steel workers - 45.5 fatalities per 100,000
5. Farmers and ranchers - 39.5 fatalities per 100,000
6. Roofers - 29.4 fatalities per 100,000
7. Electrical power-line installers and repairers - 29.1 fatalities per 100,000
8. Driver/sales workers and truck drivers - 28.2 fatalities per 100,000
9. Refuse and recyclable material collectors - 22.8 fatalities per 100,000
10. Police and sheriff's patrol officers - 21.8 fatalities per 100,000
11. Taxi drivers and chauffeurs - 21.3 fatalities per 100,000

Cops like to pretend that they have a dangerous job-it helps hem justify their crimes. However, their job is not even on the list of most dangerous occupations. Farmer, fisherman, truck driver, pizza delivery guy, liquor store clerk, taxi driver, roofer...they are all more dangerous. And it should be pointed out that 2/3 of cops dying on the job are from car accidents, just like the Doritos route driver and the breadman. They are a bunch of nutless drama queens with high tech weaponry.

If the police are so gung-ho to be soldiers perhaps they should enlist and go fight ISIS, although the down side is that ISIS is armed and likely to throw down rather than submit and everyone knows that cops don't like a fair fight.
