This Is The Body Camera That All NYPD Officers Will Soon Wear

Tyler Durden's picture

As part of the final solution to inner city social unrest across America, President Obama has put forward recommendations that all police offers wear body cameras... this is what the 'eyes-are-always-on-you' NYPD police camera will look like. What ever happened to Google Glass privacy concerns?

The NYPD body camera program will increase trust building between the police & community.

The body camera program is launching in 6 commands. Training has started today at the new NYPD Academy.

This pilot program will take around 3 months to learn from the officers so we can equip other officers.

And here is Mayor De Blasio's Press Conference on the matter (fwd to 43:45 for start)

Even though body cams tend to reduce complaints and some police abuse, prosecutors will continue to refuse to prosecute cops when an unjustified shooting actually happens. Prosecutors to police are like the MSM to Obombya.

Next.

The .gov body camera program will increase trust building between the government & community.

Obama, the mayor, congress, and all public servants need to lead from the front on this brilliant mandate, and be required to wear an a/v recorder whenever they are on the job, meeting with Wall Street Banks that donate millions of dollars to their campaigns, and health insurance companies that have had their stocks increase 400% since Obamacare (Humana), and arms manufacturers, etc.  Anything less is just tyranny, by definition.

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change

Truth, HH. If we're gonna surveil, then let there be eternal surveillance for everyone, at all times. If they need to see what we do on the job and off the job, we need to see what these cocksuckers do off the job too, as that's when most damage to the species is done.

totally agree...u think these fuckin cops wont fudge or omit the video for their own purpose?? everyone should be entitled to their own surveillence to ensure that we get as much evidence from all parties as possible...at least a camera is supposedly not physically dangerous....but maybe informationally dangerous to the govt...and they know it.

Whatever keeps another city from burning at the hands of an uneducated group of thugs. I can already see it. Some black kid from Chicago, swinging a knife, will be gunned down after charging a cop. The thugs will scream "RACISS" and we can shove a video in their plump, EBT fed faces. Not that a few flat screens won’t be lifted, but maybe they will stop short before "burning the bitch down"

I am becoming more and more "separated" by these people. Race war? Bring it.

I agree it is a positive development.

It also needs teeth.

If a cop testifies that he forgot to turn his camera on or any other bull then his testimony against the perp should be inadmissable. He should also face a penalty nearly as severe as say for an accidental discharge or being intox on duty (demotion, loss of pay, perhaps dismissal). If evidence shows that he intentionally turned his camera off for improper reasons then that should be an automatic felony and mandatory prison time on top of any penalty for the improper reason.

Solution:

  • Stop employing thugs with IQ's of 90

  • accountability - they should forfeit any pension if found culpable

Given that our emails and phone calls are already tapped, this isn't much of a Big Brother measure. I could do without the sensationalist headline. And expect a new TV show "PBC-1" coming to BBC-1, to condition the Masses.

Hey, I think I'm getting the hang of this ZH thing.  Blogging is fun.  Almost as much fun as spilling wine when it's time.

Creeps wearing google glass were not regularly beating folks or kicking diabetic coma patients while screaming 'are you done resisting arrest yet....they were just annoying. Cops on the other hand have gotten a bit out of control. Requiring documentation of force is an excellent idea. I'll tolerate the occasional video of me in return for better police behavior. I'd rather have my privacy violated slightly than my body violated permanently....maybe it's just me.

In the Land of The Free* Serfs you can be sure this is going to lead to COPS: Pain, Humiliation and Death tv series. The option to elect for suicide when being booked into the Los Angeles Island detention center is coming into view. Is this what Bush 41 meant? I think so...

Many street smart cops carry a 'clean' gun with them in case they need to plant it as evidence. Now they will need to carry a 'clean' or a 'defective' body cam with them too. I'm surprised it will take them three months to 'train' -- or maybe it just takes them that long to figure out the 'hack' to wipe out the last 10 minutes of video!

My guess is that this video evidence eill suppirt the cop in 95% of the cases - and in the other 5% the camera will malfunction.

There should be a federal law covering ALL LEOs that

1. REQUIRES wearing body cams full-time by ALL LEOs under ALL circumstances

2. Makes the content of the body cams the legal property of the state and federal courts AND imposes SEVERE punishments on LEOs who are involved in an alleged violation of civil rights and who claim that the body cam was not functioning for any reason or who destroy the contents of the body cam, eg LEO presumed guilty of alleged violations unless body cam recording proves otherwise, and LOOOOOOONG mandatory prison sentences for LEO.

3. If a LEO does not have a checked-out functioning body cam, then that LEO cannot go on duty, and cannot get paid or get credited for the any day on which a properly functioning body cam is not worn, AND an escalating process of punishments for repeat offenses, leading to termination with loss of ALL retirement & healhtcare benefits.

Unless & until you are fucked over by one of these gangsters in uniform, regardless of your race, politics, socio-economic status, etc, you will not understand or appreciate why these laws are required.

They can meet in the informant's or the cop's home, or other private place - with the cop UNARMED, so he cannot claim that the dead victim "reached into his waistband" so of course the cop had to shoot him 3 magazine loads at close range because the victim possibly theoretically could have retrieved an RPG, AK, AR or other deadly weapon ....

Will this become NYPD grainy UFO camera footage vs. 1440 x 1440 resolution 24-bit color depth taken by phone witnesses. Do these video camera’s automatically adjust themselves for action, whiteboard, night, beach or snow? Does the video camera light come on during night settings? This is fucking hilarious. NYPD might need to a carry around a white umbrella to seek proper lighting enhancements.

Ha ha ha, so the Cop Union is ok with this?

Ha, I remember when we handed out beepers to about 50 of our Teamsters. They went out to the yard, placed them under the truck tires and promptly backed over them. All at the same time. They came back in and handed me the pieces one by one with a smirk...

They thought they were funny until I switched every last MFer's route and called them back to the yard after every stop to get their next job.

They begged me for those fucking beepers back.

And that was how I belled the cats...
