Ron Paul Warns, Reckless Congress Just 'Declared War' On Russia

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Ron Paul via The Ron Paul Institute of Peace & Prosperity,

Yesterday the US House passed what I consider to be one of the worst pieces of legislation ever. H. Res. 758 was billed as a resolution “strongly condemning the actions of the Russian Federation, under President Vladimir Putin, which has carried out a policy of aggression against neighboring countries aimed at political and economic domination.”

In fact, the bill was 16 pages of war propaganda that should have made even neocons blush, if they were capable of such a thing.

These are the kinds of resolutions I have always watched closely in Congress, as what are billed as “harmless” statements of opinion often lead to sanctions and war. I remember in 1998 arguing strongly against the Iraq Liberation Act because, as I said at the time, I knew it would lead to war. I did not oppose the Act because I was an admirer of Saddam Hussein – just as now I am not an admirer of Putin or any foreign political leader – but rather because I knew then that another war against Iraq would not solve the problems and would probably make things worse. We all know what happened next.

That is why I can hardly believe they are getting away with it again, and this time with even higher stakes: provoking a war with Russia that could result in total destruction!

If anyone thinks I am exaggerating about how bad this resolution really is, let me just offer a few examples from the legislation itself:

The resolution (paragraph 3) accuses Russia of an invasion of Ukraine and condemns Russia’s violation of Ukrainian sovereignty. The statement is offered without any proof of such a thing. Surely with our sophisticated satellites that can read a license plate from space we should have video and pictures of this Russian invasion. None have been offered. As to Russia’s violation of Ukrainian sovereignty, why isn’t it a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty for the US to participate in the overthrow of that country’s elected government as it did in February? We have all heard the tapes of State Department officials plotting with the US Ambassador in Ukraine to overthrow the government. We heard US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland bragging that the US spent $5 billion on regime change in Ukraine. Why is that OK?

The resolution (paragraph 11) accuses the people in east Ukraine of holding “fraudulent and illegal elections” in November. Why is it that every time elections do not produce the results desired by the US government they are called “illegal” and “fraudulent”? Aren’t the people of eastern Ukraine allowed self-determination? Isn’t that a basic human right?

The resolution (paragraph 13) demands a withdrawal of Russia forces from Ukraine even though the US government has provided no evidence the Russian army was ever in Ukraine. This paragraph also urges the government in Kiev to resume military operations against the eastern regions seeking independence.

The resolution (paragraph 14) states with certainty that the Malaysia Airlines flight 17 that crashed in Ukraine was brought down by a missile “fired by Russian-backed separatist forces in eastern Ukraine.” This is simply incorrect, as the final report on the investigation of this tragedy will not even be released until next year and the preliminary report did not state that a missile brought down the plane. Neither did the preliminary report – conducted with the participation of all countries involved – assign blame to any side.

Paragraph 16 of the resolution condemns Russia for selling arms to the Assad government in Syria. It does not mention, of course, that those weapons are going to fight ISIS – which we claim is the enemy -- while the US weapons supplied to the rebels in Syria have actually found their way into the hands of ISIS!

Paragraph 17 of the resolution condemns Russia for what the US claims are economic sanctions (“coercive economic measures”) against Ukraine. This even though the US has repeatedly hit Russia with economic sanctions and is considering even more!

The resolution (paragraph 22) states that Russia invaded the Republic of Georgia in 2008. This is simply untrue. Even the European Union – no friend of Russia – concluded in its investigation of the events in 2008 that it was Georgia that “started an unjustified war” against Russia not the other way around! How does Congress get away with such blatant falsehoods? Do Members not even bother to read these resolutions before voting?

In paragraph 34 the resolution begins to even become comical, condemning the Russians for what it claims are attacks on computer networks of the United States and “illicitly acquiring information” about the US government. In the aftermath of the Snowden revelations about the level of US spying on the rest of the world, how can the US claim the moral authority to condemn such actions in others?

Chillingly, the resolution singles out Russian state-funded media outlets for attack, claiming that they “distort public opinion.” The US government, of course, spends billions of dollars worldwide to finance and sponsor media outlets including Voice of America and RFE/RL, as well as to subsidize “independent” media in countless counties overseas. How long before alternative information sources like RT are banned in the United States? This legislation brings us closer to that unhappy day when the government decides the kind of programming we can and cannot consume – and calls such a violation “freedom.”

The resolution gives the green light (paragraph 45) to Ukrainian President Poroshenko to re-start his military assault on the independence-seeking eastern provinces, urging the “disarming of separatist and paramilitary forces in eastern Ukraine.” Such a move will mean many more thousands of dead civilians.

To that end, the resolution directly involves the US government in the conflict by calling on the US president to “provide the government of Ukraine with lethal and non-lethal defense articles, services, and training required to effectively defend its territory and sovereignty.” This means US weapons in the hands of US-trained military forces engaged in a hot war on the border with Russia. Does that sound at all like a good idea?

There are too many more ridiculous and horrific statements in this legislation to completely discuss. Probably the single most troubling part of this resolution, however, is the statement that “military intervention” by the Russian Federation in Ukraine “poses a threat to international peace and security.” Such terminology is not an accident: this phrase is the poison pill planted in this legislation from which future, more aggressive resolutions will follow. After all, if we accept that Russia is posing a “threat” to international peace how can such a thing be ignored? These are the slippery slopes that lead to war.

This dangerous legislation passed today, December 4, with only ten (!) votes against! Only ten legislators are concerned over the use of blatant propaganda and falsehoods to push such reckless saber-rattling toward Russia.

Here are the Members who voted “NO” on this legislation. If you do not see your own Representative on this list call and ask why they are voting to bring us closer to war with Russia! If you do see your Representative on the below list, call and thank him or her for standing up to the warmongers.

Voting “NO” on H. Res. 758:

1) Justin Amash (R-MI)
2) John Duncan (R-TN)
3) Alan Grayson, (D-FL)
4) Alcee Hastings (D-FL)
5) Walter Jones (R-NC)
6) Thomas Massie (R-KY)
7) Jim McDermott (D-WA)
8 George Miller (D-CA)
9) Beto O’Rourke (D-TX)
10 Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA)

Note that the BRICS Group GMP now exceeds the G7 GMP (and the G7 numbers are supported by "fake consumption" in the US).

So, development of "their" SWIFT system would probably have happened in due course. The "Sanctions" have simply moved progress along somewhat.

Don't tell our "Original Australians" that - they get REALLY upset.

The Aboriginal Community is doing VERY well INDEED via Aussie White Guilt, and everyone in Politics is determined to maintain that gravy-train (along with all the other "Special Interest" groups whose profits have been enshrined by protectivist legislation.

Just one of the many reasons why Industry is leaving Oz - especially heavy industry (e.g. carmaking) - no more Toyota, Holden (GM), Ford, Mitsubishi.

MUCH grief that the "next" Holden Commodores will be 4-cylinder models, made in CHINA!!

No shit, what's the end game? Where's the payoff? Is the Deep State really that delusional? There has got to be a back-end to it if they are doing it, they don't do nuttin for free.  So we drive russia into the dirt, again, for what? I just can't see any point in it past the obvious military industrial complex angle.  Could it really be that simple? I'll think about it some more over a couple bottles of wine tonight.  Maybe it'll come to me.

It is the same concept as the economic hitman' tactic, but against a much larger target country than usual.

The payoff is control of the natural resources in Russia - huge.

Apparently the tactic is to force the breakup of Russia into smaller chunks that can be subjugated. I suspect the anticipated timescale is several decades to achieve this, but the US may have collapsed before this  IE. This is war - WWIII, currently underway using financial tools, extreme propaganda, cyber tools, and now trade war tools (sanctions et. al) .... next level of escalation is kinetic... lets hope they do not escalate to that because it will almost certainly go nuclear... End of Species - thats us.

Not just end of "our" special little species - the almost certain annihilation of most multicellular life forms, and it would be extremely unlikely that "human" life as we know it would survive a significant exchange, especially in the longer term (decades - centuries).

Even assuming those "in power" have some plans for survival (shelters / cave systems), they will have to emerge eventually, and the sights that greet them may be very different to their expectations.

The mini-series "Life after Humans" may give an idea, however high levels of radiation exposure may well accelerate mutation rates, so things may be very different indeed, and the resulting environment might be impossibly hostile for "people like us".

Anyway - the US is bankrupt, and it's not just Russia - China too feels threatened, and the Russians are busy cutting deals with all their friends (or Countries that would like to be Russia's friends, e.g. Turkey.)

Russians are no-one's fool, and  as said earlier, they are a Nation used to hardship. NOT a Country that any sane administration would willingly pick a fight with.

Maybe this in itself is a telling indication of how far the quality of American leadership has fallen - a "Suicide Mission" for the "Little People".

My favorite portrait of George Washington is the one where he's snarling because his bros made him the president.

It took 8 presidents to get the first wedge in. They fumbled around with Liberty's bra clasp for another 8 before they got it undone. They spent another 8 playing around with their jewels, trying to figure out how to get to 3rd base. They fumbled the first try but recovered with a lot of guidance and support from their older brothers. 2 presidents later, Liberty surrendered her chastity to a pathetic, syphilitic hobo. I mean, homo.

He stole her virtue and infected the Lady.

Then his bros took turns on her. The 4rth brute after him beat her to death. Some of them didn't have the faculty to realize it but every psycho to hold that office since have been masturbating into a corpse, while their attendants milk the illusion, harder and faster as it all cums out.

First they rape your nation, so you retreat to your community. Then they rape your community, so you retreat to your tribe. Then they rape your tribe, so you retreat to your family. Then they rape your family, so you retreat, alone. Then they rape you. Again and again and again. So you retreat into your mind. What do you do when they rape your mind?

Here we are. Right now. Right here.

Choose.

It was really fucking cold last night. Grandma came scratching at the door. She's a bitch but I'm not totally heartless, so I let her in. This is what she told me. But before it was light I drove her across the border & drumped her at the first church I saw.

The point is they are prostitutes. They are filthy prostitutes. They would rather sit comfortably in Congress than be honest and loyal to the United States. This legislation is filled with inaccuracies that can be proven. The only way you can attach your name to such a document that is so inaccurate and makes such false charges is if you are on the payroll or a part of the Zionist movement in the United States.

And the Zionist movement in the United States is anti-America.

For example, Sen. Ted Cruz, a Southern Baptist, told persecuted Arab Christians they have "no greater ally" than Israel, adding he wouldn't "stand with" them if they didn't "stand with Israel and the Jews."

Pat Buchanan has warned that the November 4 election puts the Republicans in charge of the Congress; but, he warns, “Did We Vote for War?” The War Party has already amassed support for increased war-making in the Middle East and an aggressive House of Representatives and control of the Senate will produce the money necessary. The Ukraine push, warns Buchanan, will lead to war because Putin in 15 years running Russia “has never stood down.”
The assault by the West against Russia is a Zionist assault supported by Jewish groups in the US and by the State of Israel. The American people, with their Congress getting its priorities from a foreign power, are left to fight and die and pay for wars they do not support.

The Enemies of Vladimir Putin/Brother Nathanael

Excerpt…
Adding to the new-inspired sanctions is House Resolution 758 which was just passed by an overwhelming majority of Jewish-bought hacks.
Sponsored by Adam Zinzinger , this rookie Republican congressman with obvious presidential plans, knows that if a ‘useful goy’ plays his cards well with Jewish neocons, his political career will be well funded by Jewish lobbies and well supported by the Jew-owned main stream media.
Two of their own in the House, Jews Ileana Ros-Letinen and Eliot Engel, vomited out their hatred of Christian Putin and their malice toward humanity by applauding Resolution 758’s urgings to provide Kiev with military aid to be used against the pro-Russian citizens of Eastern Ukraine.
In Jew-twisting-and-turning of lying words, it means MORE war, MORE bloodshed.
Woe to your country when Jews, women, and homosexuals are your leaders! ...

Then, he being the loudest and most proud Nazi Ukie, proved his nationalist identity by skinning the girl with his own knife. And that is what he has hanging on his wall in his small basement room in his Nazi emblazoned, comandeered house!

Honestly, I think there is SO MUCH information out there that our elected officials cannot absorb it all and make intelligent decisions. Furthermore, what is fed to them (by their handlers) often is biased and one-sided -- essentially steering their votes and policies. So we end up with a war mongering bill because our elected officials are never told that the CIA toppled the elected Ukraine government, and that the new illegitimate Ukraine government shelled civilians and shot down MH17. Would they vote for this bill if they knew the real story?

Russia's ecomomy and people are suffering due to sanctions, but it's used to poverty and hard living conditions. Putin can probably hold things together for another couple of years.

I suspect that after 6-12 months the USA will cease to be a thorn in his side. Not because they ceased attacking, but because for all intents and purposes they ceased to exist.

My real worry is that Japan tumbles, knocking down the EU and US at the same time, leaving no one in the developed world left to to help stem the tide of economic devastation.

The USA is corrupt and bitter, but it is still very powerful. I greatly fear that in it's death throes, the US might attempt something stupid like a military solution and die fighting.

The possibilty of a US "Samson Option" is frequently considered by the Russian regional press (in fact, this is quite a popular Editorial subject).

So, in reality, the Russians FULLY EXPECT some form of nuclear exchange - a collective mindset that seems completely absent from US / EU MSM publications.

Interesting isn't it. (Also handy having in-laws "On the Ground" who can provide translations of non-English newspapers for us!)

The Russians fully expect some sort of nuclear exchange because they have no other option against the vastly superior conventional power of the United States.

We don't need to nuke you. Our sanctions already have you twisting in the wind. Notice how the Grand Duchy of Evil has renounced the long-standing Soviet pledge of no-first-use of nuclear weapons? What was once the NATO option against Russian conventional superiority has now been turned on its head.

Oh, and who needs translations of Russian newspapers. We have the Weekend Okhrana to feed us the Putin party line straight from the source.

Not just "container nukes", but notice that the Iskander missile will fit in a standard 40 ft shipping container, with LOTS of room to spare.

Notice also that Russia has certainly developed a tac. nuke warhead for this missile - maybe not large enough to completely flatten a modern city, but certainly capable of ending all life in any city.

Consider just how many container ships are sailing around the USA at any one time?

Costs nothing to ensure "your containers" are on the top row, with an unobstructed sky view for GPS location / launch purposes.

500km range - more than enough to reach all the important countervalue targets (NY, Washington, ALL naval bases).

VERY fast salvo-fire capability, and VERY high flight speeds, so effective reaction time will be very short indeed.

Seeing as Russians have a VERY good reputation of "making the best of what they already have", this possibility MUST have been considered. Has it been implemented? Do we really want to find out "the hard way"??

The notion that US conventional power is "vastly superior" is puerile.

You have to consider where the conflict is occurring and that changes the relative value of forces.

If the US decided to invade Cuba and Russia wanted to oppose it, then certainly the US would have vastly superior power. But that conflict is not going to happen.

Any conflict with Russia will be near Russia's borders, not near the US's borders. It would take the US a year or more to move all its resources into place and meantime the Russians would be obliterating anything already near their borders.

US aircraft carriers are largely irrelevant to a conflict with Russia, as are US subs. Russia supplies its own energy so not susceptible to interdiction by the US, whereas the reverse is not true.

If the US gets into a shooting war with Russia close to Russian territory, the US will get smashed and the Pentagon knows this.

With Russia the main protagonist able to destroy the Continental United States and Canada, China and other nations will be ready to join in. China is building its submarine fleet and with Russian know-how it should be able to take out Japan and enhance the targetting of US population centres.

I should think the US will find it hard to row back. Personally I think Britain should scrap its nuclear submarines and Europe should cut defence spending - the US is hell-bent on war, we may as well enjoy life and boost social spending in the time left and let the US spend on defence

The suffering was real as much perhaps as any people have ever had to endure on earth. And those were the ones who survived banker-financed Communism.  “All who got the deep and full experience of the gulag now lie for a long time in their grave, silent forever…”

Here is a summary of illustrative quotations from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, who despite all his suffering remained a Russian nationalist patriot, taken from his classic and massive The GULAG Archipelago:

“The river [of political prisoners] that flowed in the years 1932-38 was neither the only one, nor even the main one—perhaps only one of the three large rivers that brought the dark stinking pipes of our prison channels almost to bursting. The river of the years 1920-30 had preceded it. …It has sloshed a good 15 million muzhiks (if not even more) into the taiga and the tundra. …And afterward there was the inmate river of 1944-46. … Whole nations were pumped through the discharge pipes [such as Cossacks, Tatars, ethnic German Russians, Poles, Balts, Hungarians, etc] and in addition there were millions and millions of [Soviet] returnees [from Germany wartime labor camps and factories], German POWs and new forced labor hordes. …The prison pipeline never remained empty.”

When Solzhenitzyn returned in 1994 to Russia after 20 years in exile - disillusioned with the spiritual vacuity of the West - to a country whose raw oligarchy manufactured pseudo-capitalism and marauding tycoons horrified him, Putin became the country's savior.

"Putin inherited a ransacked and bewildered country, with a poor and demoralized people," Solzhenitsyn told the German magazine Der Spiegel in a 2007 interview. "And he started to do what was possible, a slow and gradual restoration. These efforts were not noticed, nor appreciated, immediately. In any case, one is hard-pressed to find examples in history when steps by one country to restore its strength were met favorably by other governments."

A welcome change from Lenin who published two articles on January 7 and 10, 1918, to guide his Bolsheviks demanding “the cleansing of Russian soil of all vermin.”

Solzhenitsyn adds:”’Vermin’ were naturally the small-and medium-sized farmers, the tradesmen and all home owners. It was ‘vermin’ that were singing in the church choirs.”
