Video Of The Day – This Is What Happens When You Call The Cops

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

In a healthy, moral and civilized society defined by the rule of law, police can play an important role. They should be people who come from the communities they promise to “protect and serve.” They should view themselves as a part of these communities, not as something separate and distinct. Police should see their jobs as having a great degree of risk, and must be willing to accept that risk. This means not pretending to be a solider at war, not choosing the most violent solution to every problem, and not viewing the citizenry as milk cows ready and willing to be drained of their assets via civil forfeiture.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the state of the police in America in 2014, and it’s quickly becoming obvious to everyone. Ferguson was a key moment in this awakening, when white pundits and others typically confined to less distraught communities, witnessed the militarized police in all its SWAT team horror for the first time. In the piece, “A Good Time Was Had By All” – The Obamas Dance the Night Away as Ferguson, Missouri Burns, I wrote:

I believe Ferguson will be seen as a major turning point. The point in which many well-intentioned, but incredibly naive folks in white mainstream America woke up to what we have become. Many people, particularly those in the media, have been willfully ignorant about the destruction of freedom and civil liberties in America. The events in Ferguson have taken a gigantic mirror and successfully pointed it squarely at our civil society and the image it has reflected back is one of a horrific, militarized, authoritarian monster.

Many people have strongly condemned the failure of a grand jury to indict officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of Michael Brown, but a far more disturbing failure occurred yesterday. This relates to a case from my hometown of NYC, where a cop was caught strangling an unarmed man to death in broad daylight for the non-crime of selling untaxed cigarettes. The man’s name was Eric Garner and the entire incident was caught on tape. It’s absolutely horrifying that the cops were not indicted here, and proves that like bankers, the profession is completely above the law.

I know, I know, where’s the proof? Well here’s some from FiveThirtyEight:

A St. Louis County grand jury decided Monday that police officer Darren Wilson will not face trial for shooting and killing unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Grand juries usually return indictments; the one exception is cases involving police shootings. But more than that, police shootings, and allegations of police misconduct in general, almost never make it in front of a grand jury. And officers rarely face legal consequences for allegations of misconduct.

This chart from the site pretty much sums it up. Read it and weep.

Screen Shot 2014-12-04 at 10.43.43 AM

Rather than giving cops the “benefit of the doubt,” I would argue that, if anything, police should be held to a higher standard. This is because once the general population starts to lose trust in cops things can get very nasty, very quickly. This trust is important and it needs to be based on reality, not propaganda.

To understand how absurd the lack of an indictment is in the Garner case specifically, the Huffington Post notes:

Grand juries are meant to determine only whether there is “probable cause” to indict a criminal suspect — a standard far lower than the “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard that comes into play when deciding guilt at trial. Federal prosecutors secured indictments in more than 99.9 percent of the 162,000 cases they brought before grand juries in 2010. But in Missouri and New York, two grand juries decided that even that low hurdle had not been surmounted.

How you can watch that video and not see probable cause is simply beyond me.

With that in mind, watch the following powerful video: This Is What Happens When You Call the Cops

The video highlighted several cases that I’ve written about here at Liberty Blitzkrieg.

Any old Savage, Remington, Marlin, Ruger, etc. will do just fine. Available at a gun show near you for under $150 all day long.

Personally. I'd suggest a .308... Why? Well if you take a look at the videos on Youtube of the urban fighting in Syria, much (all) of it happens from behind concrete walls. .308 is the minimum caliber you're going to need if your target happens to be behind such a concrete wall.

Standard .223/5.56 and 762x39 will not penetrate.

.22's have their place. So do shotguns. So do pistols. But you're not really armed until you are armed with a rifle. So if you can only choose one weapon for your battery, choose a rifle. It's what you call a no-brainer -- not to mention the only way to "reach out and touch someone" reliably at 200 yards.

I like the 5.56 AR-15 as a platform.  This year I am adding a Blackout upper with a carbine-length barrel threaded for a suppresor.  I like the ballistics (basically the thump of a 308 for CQ, in the same length as a 5.56, so I can use the same magazines).  Next year I might try the 6.8 for the longer range power.

Bottom line:  why only date 1 caliber?  They're all beautiful in their own way...

You can look through the scope and see rounds hitting the target, pushing 4000 fps.

Another upvote.

Personal experience:

On a variety of critters ranging in size from gophers to coyotes, the .17HMR, more often than not, exhibits real world terminal performance that's way out of proportion with what one would reasonably expect from a 17 gr. bullet which leaves the muzzle @ 2550fps/245lbs ME.

I suggest you use this resource:

..w.rimfirecentral.c..

For a 22 long gun, I would suggest a CZ, and find the variant that suits you.

All my 22 are 22 WMR, one's a semi auto with red dot and threaded barrel end.   For pressure situations, I decided that accuracy trumps handgun caliber (quarter size or better accuracy any where on the property, both eyes open sighting).  The threaded end is so I don't kill my hearing.  If you get a long gun, consider that a concurrent purchase of 10K rounds should be a given, and in the course of use, that number should be maintained as a minimum.  Trigger action upgrades over OEM are worth it.

I suggest more people watch the Eric Garner videos. No one seems to have noticed that the selling cigarettes was made up, The guy broke up a fight and was then harassed by the cops. Such things are bound to happen, but of course the real outrage is the two-tiered justice system that allows the perpetrators to get away. And the establishment is lying by saying that the guy was breaking the law.

Cops have been promised pensions, raises, etc.  And by God, they are going to extract it by any means necessary.  Likewise, they are the collection arm of state/county governments.

Answer to any question starting with "why don't the cops focus on ______ instead" is:  there isn't any money in it.

Well this is counterproductive then.

In Chicago, where the city had to float $100 million worth of bonds to help pay for police settlements related to abuse, the Chicago Sun Times found the city had paid out $450 million in the last decade with much of it due to repeat alleged abusers.

You want to end police brutality? Make them fucking pay for the legal fees and settlements. Hell, maybe fire one of them for this shit. There's a start!

Those who think that the rampant civil rights violations will continue to only affect those "other people" should do a little critical thinking. Constitutional rights were given for a reason, and when rights are ignored eventually no one will be safe from the government.

Exactly. When they come for us all (and they will), don't expect anyone to stick up for you either. And everyone looks around and says, "I don't understand what happened." What happened is that no one did jack shit as they pushed the boundaries on those who could defend themselves the least.  That's what happened.

As if those same justifications and excuses won't apply to us all when the time comes.

The police are just dogs, well trained and well brainwashed, but still just dogs for the politician judges and prosecutors who are the real enablers of this culturally inbred and magnificently corrupt 21st century justice system.

The politician judges and prosecutors are just dogs too -- the pack leaders, the alpha dogs. They're there to bite and otherwise cause pain to the livestock to remind the livestock who's in charge. They work for the herders: the politicians and the media. The herders work for the PTB -- Kochs, Soros, Dimon, Waltons, Rothschilds, the Windsors (House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha), etc.

It's really not that much different from medieval feudal Europe, China or Japan.

It's really not about anyone's color.  The black police involved in Garner's killing should put that to rest.

It's about law abiding people having good reason to be afraid of those who are supposed to protect us from encroachments on our rights.  And it will probably continued until it is our "protectors" who are afraid to overreach or to tolerate it among those with whom they serve.

To blame governmental confiscations and the like on individual policemen is disingenuous.  They are just doing as instructed. Also, as the general population becomes shows less and less concern for individual life the police will react to protect themselves.  When the police do not act as invincible altruistic superheroes the press treats them a villains.  How would you react if you were facing a 300 pound giant that was trying to beat you to death??????

Hire a Sheriff you can trust. We had an election recently where a candidate for Sheriff was run out of town on a rail. A former state senator and state rep., given the goddamned bum's rush.

Have your Sheriff's Office hire deputies from around the land. Have their first action be to strip the badges of, and frog-march any local or federal police to the county line. Enforce consitutional law, not policy. This is the only way to work it.

A lot of chaff with the wheat here.  Should you think twice before calling the cops?  You bet. Someone could end up dead, including you, your dogs, a loved one, or a neighbor. I once called the cops because I suspected that vagrants were squatting in a vacant house next door.  When the police car pulled up to the curb, I walked outside to meet the officer. Imagine my surprise when I turned the corner and saw that the officer was already holding a drawn weapon and looking straight at me. Lesson learned.

But stop the horseshit about Ferguson. The physical evidence, and the testimony of _creditble_ witnesses, all added up to a justified shooting.  Just another Trayvon hoax by the MSM.

I live in a small rural 'two stoplight' town, where hardly any major crimes ever happen. Yet, when you go out, the police are EVERYWHERE. They're like an occupying army. They even have a huge 'RV'(armored vehicle), and "mobile command center"(a huge tour bus sized thing) with dishes and antennas all over it! LOL

Most of them terribly unfriendly as well. The speed limits on all of the roads are set unreasonably low, and they sit and shoot radar, and monitor traffic constantly. I can't imagine where the funding for all of that crap comes from. There aren't enough people here to write tickets to and tax. Much of it HAS to be coming from fed/state.

I have been on juries, criminal and civil, but never a grand jury. I am only vaguely familiar with how that process works, but what would it be that makes grand jurors hesitate to indict cops to such a large degree? I mean, what does it take to actually indict a cop if something like this isn't enough? I'd assume there are lawyers involved. So the accused has a lawyer? Who is the prosecutor representing - the people?

Do the prosecutors just not attempt to get an indictment when it regards cops, or why would these statistics be so skewed? I don't grok this.

I'd assume there are lawyers involved. So the accused has a lawyer?

There's the rub. The accused has no lawyer present at the Grand Jury (unless you are a cop and then the 'procesutor' is your defense attorney) which is why GJs return so many indictments. In essence, you do not get to defend yourself before a Grand Jury.

These fucks can get a warrant to search via probable cause when a dog scratches his balls, but they can't get probable cause with video of a pig strangling a man who has not even been arrested?

Fri, 12/05/2014 - 20:18 | 5522432 Wahooo

There are no lawyers or judges in a grand jury hearing. The prosecutor is trying to convince the jury there is enough evidence to warrant a trial - to gain an indictment by the grand jury. Prosecutors can bring charges without a grand jury indictment, but there is more burden in proving the merits of the charges to the trial judge. The problem with prosecutors attempting to gain an indictment against police is that the prosecutor and police work together day to day. Therein lies the bias. Some have argued for an inquest in these cases - a public airing of the evidence by a non-prosecutor. That could help, but they would still have to take evidence before a grand jury or trial judge to get a trial. We really need to get the prosecutors out of the grand jury when it involves cops.

I was on a jury once. trivial traffic matter 3 days. Show up in morning, leave in evening.

When I realised that as a juror, you are in the criminal justice system and that YOU ARE NOT FREE TO COME AND GO, I wanted nothing more of USA society.

Call me irresponsible, selfish, unpatriotic, not civic minded, whatever - but when I realised that the armed bailiff is there, in part, to keep ME in the jury box, I was done.

When you get a jury summons, you are being summoned, by force, by the court.

You are forced to do this - choice, civic duty, the wording is all nonsense.

The entire time all I could think of was:

""Get me out of here.""

I tried all the tricks, could not get disqualified.

I want nothing to do with the USA criminal justice system in any capacity on any side of the bench, lawyers table, witness box or jury box.

The right to have a jury (along with the right to have witnesses at trial) is one of the rights that separates (or, is supposed to separate us, but doesn't) from dictatorships where, if you're lucky, you get a show trial before you are executed. It may be inconvenient, but you'll appreciate it if you're ever on trial. Who am I kidding? If you plead "not guilty" they will pile on so many charges that you will go bankrupt defending yourself or plead guilty to one thing just to make the other charges go away. Even if you are innocent, the cops and the prosecutors will commit perjury (the judge knows this, but doesn't care as his performance is based on his conviction rate), so you're screwed either way.

You should be GLAD that you live in a society where jury duty is mandatory.

It's not honest to show a graph of the raw numbers of incarcerated, like Welsh does, and act like it shows an epidemic of imprisonment. The raw numbers don't take into account the rise in population.

What has to be compared is the rate: which has gone from 0.08% of the population being imprisoned in 1925, or 80 per 100,000 population, to 0.53% in 2005, or 560 per 100,000 population. (Source.)

Yes that's a seven-fold increase in the incarceration rate, but even that figure is skewed. The fact is, fully 99.47% of the American populace were not incarcerated in 2005, versus 99.92% who were not incarcerated in 1925.

Which means the increase has been miniscule in the only term that matters. Which term is, btw, the likelihood that I am or will be incarcerated, lol...

This isn't rocket surgury, people. Suffice to say, with a guy trying this kind of lame sleight of hand, I'm not interested in the slightest about learning who Ian Welsh is.

Denial is a defense mechanism, in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence. The subject may use:

• simple denial - deny the reality of the unpleasant fact altogether

• minimisation - admit the fact but deny its seriousness

• projection- admit both the fact and seriousness but deny responsibility.

Duh. A group of oligarchs, bankers and industrialists that took over the institutions of finance and education and simultaneously took over federal politicians. They created organizations that supplied the politicians with policies that the federal politicians never read but vote on to get more campaign money. The armed forces where moved to foreign control and the United States became a conquered nation-state that is used against other nations in an attempt of the oligarchs, bankers and industrialists to conquer the world. To quell any internal opposition the same people had the educational system promote their agenda and they militarized the police. They shut down the industries in the United States to prevent any wealth from being used against them. Those with independent wealth were allowed to enter their system as a means to evade opposition. They took control of the printing press and the markets and used those formerly regulated systems as a means to pay for their weapons used against all that might oppose them. They legalized propaganda to be used against US citizens and created a legal system to superimpose on the US through treaty. They placed themselves and their law enforcement agencies above the law and now they are implementing the physical killing of the masses.

The war is on bitchez.

You can arrest two men: Jamie Dimon and Loyd Blankfein and have things immediatly revert back towards justice or live out the future of war in the United States of America.

Ya have to keep in mind. Cops used to be called "(*This City's*) Finest". That hasn't been true for a generation, if it ever was. Now I drive around municipalities in California and I see lit marquees *ON THE STREET* telling everyone during rush hour that the local police department is accepting applications for officer positions. Police departments are DESPERATE for anyone who can pass a drug test and follow instructions.

We're policed by a trained underclass, effectively. Should it be any surprise that the underclass can't handle being treated this way? This is, of course, long before you even consider the absurd laws in the U.S. that the police departments are often forced to enforce (against their own desires).

I blame the drug war. Any sane person who wanted to be a peace officer left the force long ago when they realized they were being asked to break into people's homes, and look the other way when mistakes were made in confrontations with the public.

The indigent parents need to pay for it. Not one taxdollar dime needs to be spent on it.

If their children end up dead then they need be prosecuted for neglect and manslaughter. There are already laws on the books for that.

But NOT PROSECUTED FOR DRUGS.

It is the same with firearms. A firearm does not upon its own volition jump up and kill someone else.

It, like a drug, is inert and innoucuous, until it is used or it is abused. And there are already laws on the books to deal with the consequences of that abuse.

That is the problem with Socialists as yourself. You always want to make somebody else's business your business.

Maybe someone should inform Krieger that grand jury decisions aren't based on statistical analysis. They are based on evidence for a particular case.

The jury got it right in Ferguson and wrong in NYC based on the facts.

In NYC it was clear the officer used an illegal choke hold. Thus there was no reason not to indict him for that felony.

Ferguson was an entirely different set of circumstances - again based on the facts not statistics!

It's quite possible that the police have a lower cnviction rate because they are trained in the law and have some leeway. Without the leeway, no one would take the job because it can be dangerous work.

Are there bad cops? Of course. That's why some get fired or convicted of crimes.

Nope. Brown punched Wilson while Wilson was still in his vehicle. Wilson couldn't exactly punch Brown back in retaliation since he was still in the vehicle.

If you punch a police officer, don't be surprised if he shoots you, especially if the officer is in his vehicle and you've just slugged him.

Witnesses also describe seeing Brown reaching into the vehicle. So what was he reaching for if it wasn't Wilson's gun?? The answer is nothing - Brown was reaching for Wison's gun which Wilson had drawn in response to being struck in the face.

So Wilson shot him. Only then did Brown back off. Then he made the mistake of charging Wilson. Brown shot him a couple more times, but Brown kept coming which was his fatal mistake.

Against a normal sized person, yes, But if you are charged by a rhino, elephant, hippo or bear, you want a rifle with a large round insde because your handgun is going to be eaten along with you and the animal will just be pissed off as you shoot him with your pesky bullets.

ive never understood why the police are so keen on killing people. Why not, when possible, shoot an armed person in the leg or arm-that will, in MANY cases bring them down=especially when there is distance-or use a Taser. We had a crazy guy here holding a Samari sword in public who was obviously mentally ill. The police descended up on his fixed stance, where he was slaying imaginary dragons, ordered him to drop his weapon a half dozen times-and they instead, shot to kill. and he was dead. This death by suffocation when the man on the ground was overwhelmed by 5 cops is just plain criminal and should be punished severely. It is murder. The guy in Ferguson may not have been so innocent, but the police HAD DISTANCE on him, and could have Tazed or shot an arm or leg out. The perp would have no other choice but to surrender -he is immobilized, esp when shot in the leg.

Interesting fact: in the early 1970's Seattle had the distinct labelling as: city with most cops per capita; City where most cops were killed each year; This was during the days of Radicals-Weathermen (often infiltrated by the FBI.) They also set up stings to blow up structures around the city, blame it on the radicals, then come in and arrest at the very last moment;

"Why not, when possible, shoot an armed person in the leg or arm?"

You've been watching too many movies. In most cases the cop has only seconds to react.  Sometimes not even that. Why don't you suggest he shoot the gun out of the perp's hand altogether

Exactly if you hit someone in the thigh it is a decent chance it pierces the femoral artery/vein and a person bleeds out real quick if it severs it even partially given the volume of blood that pumps through it unless a tourquiet is applied.  Even a shitty .22 or .38 can do it and especially something larger caliber like a .45 or 9 mm casing.

People see this BS in movies where a guy gets shot in the shoulder/gut/arm and somehow keeps on going with just a slight grimace on their face or is magically back to work after a brief hospital stay.

If you get into a jam with a big bad mofo, please don't trust a taser or three to stop him.

You think shooting someone in the arm or leg is a safe alternative, you can easily lose the leg or arm or bleed out. How about just not shooting?

my Uncle ran an indie movie theater. He was also a "New Ager' this was 35 years ago-he lived in a quiet well kept neigborhood. He would leave his door unlocked (good Karma)once he came home with the theaters reciepts, counted and left it spread all over the living room floor. Then he left. BINGO! when he came back all the money was gone-about $5k
