Why Is The US Treasury Quietly Ordering "Surival Kits" For US Bankers?

Tyler Durden's picture

The Department of Treasury is spending $200,000 on survival kits for all of its employees who oversee the federal banking system, according to a new solicitation. As FreeBeacon reports, survival kits will be delivered to every major bank in the United States and includes a solar blanket, food bar, water-purification tablets, and dust mask (among other things). The question, obviously, is just what do they know that the rest of us don't?

As Free Beacon reports,

The Department of Treasury is seeking to order survival kits for all of its employees who oversee the federal banking system, according to a new solicitation.

The emergency supplies would be for every employee at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), which conducts on-site reviews of banks throughout the country. The survival kit includes everything from water purification tablets to solar blankets.

The government is willing to spend up to $200,000 on the kits, according to the solicitation released on Dec. 4.

The survival kits must come in a fanny-pack or backpack that can fit all of the items, including a 33-piece personal first aid kit with “decongestant tablets,” a variety of bandages, and medicines.

The kits must also include a “reusable solar blanket” 52 by 84 inches long, a 2,400-calorie food bar, “50 water purification tablets,” a “dust mask,” “one-size fits all poncho with hood,” a rechargeable lantern with built-in radio, and an “Air-Aid emergency mask” for protection against airborne viruses.

Survival kits will be delivered to every major bank in the United States including Bank of America, American Express Bank, BMO Financial Corp., Capitol One Financial Corporation, Citigroup, Inc., JPMorgan Chase & Company, and Wells Fargo.

...

The agency has roughly 3,814 employees, each of which would receive a survival kit. The staff includes “bank examiners” who provide “sustained supervision” of major banks in the United States.

...

It is not clear why the Treasury Department is ordering the kits.

*  *  *

One can only imagine what the Treasury department is thinking will happen in the near-future... while it is indeed good to be prepared, the timing as domestic social unrest ramps up, the driver of the recovery is crashing, and the Fed has stepped away is 'odd' to say the least.

I would have thought cyanide capsules would have been distributed.  At the point the system crashes, the banksters are as useful as paperweights.  Plus, dead men can't give witness against the government.  .Gov is really brilliant leaking this.  You let the world know you are giving the banksters a blanket and a Powerbar.  Years ago, you let the world know your employees were given submachine guns and lots of hollow point ammo.  When the shit goes down, which group are you likely to attack first?  Which toolkit would you rather have?

You dont have to run faster than the bear.  You only have to run faster than the slowest person running from the bear . . .  .Gov is practically spraypainting the crosshairs on the banksters foreheads. . .

I believe an audit found them to have some deficiencies in their disaster-contingency plans.  They're sending staff to conduct on-site reviews and are covering their bases to ensure these people are at least given a kit in the event they are caught up in a disaster.

Your broker/dealer and investment adviser entities must do the same thing...although not too many go to the effort of having kits for each person - except perhaps in Calif. where a 3-4 day earthquake kits are advisable (even for daycare center kids).

So, I don't think it is anything to get too excited about - except "Wow", they do get some good things in their kits.

I'm a compliance geek...sorry, don't hate me.  I'm the "good" kind, not the bad kind.

Cheers!

Late during the seige of Stalingrad, when the Germans were pressed into the 'kessel' and only the Gumrak airfield was open, there was a load of food delivered that boggled the minds of those unloading.  An entire plane full of salt and pepper.  These kits are as timely as that plane full of salt and pepper.

th recipients of these "kits" are not "bankers".
they are clerical hired help, or the like, at the department
of treasury, who will feel cared for by receiving said kit.
that kit rather than pay.
.
the instructions that go with the kit are the really rich
part of the story. they will be instructed to leave their
abodes, homes(whatever), and evacuate with said survival kit.
that is right. leave your home with this provided bag of shit
and go on a journey to "safety".
now, that is hilarious; all for a government contract to an
insider to provide what amounts to materialistic feces to deceive
clerks and impress them with the idea your employer is concerned
with your well being, while simultaneously gratifying a few
simple junk suppliers and some local constituents/financial political
contributors.
.
this little stink gives insight to the big stink.
as they say ..
"no better beef and no better barrel" or something like
that. the brits designed it all.

And the biggest tell to what an amateur you are is the employment of the word "clip". It's a magazine. You have to be a reporter, I'm guessing. Do you shoot your Glock all cocked to the side like they do in the moo-vees, homeboy?

The question, obviously, is just what do they know that the rest of us don't?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The answer is, not what they know, but more so, what are they preparing for that we don’t see coming.

Of course see what’s coming! We talk about it all the time.

And you can figure it out from the list.

Examine the list.

This will tell you what, by the content.

What’s on the list?

Well, think about a survival G’nG pack for yourself. What’s the first thing(s) that you’d want and think Maslov…

Well, you ask yerselfs, “Self! What am I surviving?”

As in where? How long?

So you’ll have to figure out some must haves and some leave-at-homes.

Food. Protection. Shelter. Medical.

Notice how little food is there? About 1 days worth. Same for water.

This is NOT a 3 day Grab and Go pack. This pack is for the very short term duration. 24 hours maybe 36.

There’s no asswipe! AYFK? Laugh it up. I carry it in the truck. Laughter turns to tears, when you find out, “It’s a Buck-A-Sheet-Sweet!”

Hell, my mother had most of this stuff in her purse and that was just to got to the grocery store!

There’s no flashlight? Those little 3A LED lights are awesome!
Those dynamo lanterns suck. A light stick. What good is that? Signaling in the dark?

There’s no knife or saw for cutting wood to start a fire? No rope?

There’s no matches? Not even a lighter?

NO MATCHES?!?!

But lots of mild 1st aid stuff. Scraps, cuts, abrassions.

NOBODY puts this much medical in a GRAB and GO bag for a short term.

What is an Air Aid Mask in there? Look up what they’re used for.

Nobody packs any kind of emergency bag without having a potential threat in mind. Basic 1st aid, yes, but not all of this, given the person using this.

Decongestant tables? For what?

What kind of ‘survival’ are they preparing for?

URBAN SURVIVAL

Like when your bank is surround by thousands of people wanting to get their money out, as in a bank run, or are there for an Occupy movement.

That’s why there is no asswipe. There’ll be plenty in the building. Probably running water, too.

The cops and military’ll be there in a bit. “Hold tight!”  24-36 hours.

That’s what this kit is for and I’m sure of it. They’re preparing for urban unrest, and who do you think is gonna be high on the list of “Get’em!” when the economy folds?

Secretly and quietly arrange for a ban on cash to be made in Europe. This is sold as "progress" and most people even find it good: in small steps to prepare the masses for the abolition of cash. So that they lose one of the last freedoms, is rarely discussed in the media.

via Yellow Forum

Is an EU-wide ban on cash only a matter of time? In many small steps, people were prepared in recent years on cashless payments. Protests, there were hardly any criticism. More and more "Manifest" proclaims Meanwhile in the upcoming loss of the "last" freedom:

+ ECB (SNB and others will follow) have begun with the exchange of certificates. The smaller notes (5, 10) will be left for us.

+ No later than the end of 2016 everyone in the EU must have a Bank Account .

+ Selected mouthpieces announce more and more often the disadvantages of cash (Example: Rogoff , ....)

+ Italy, Spain, .... there are already limits for cash in daily life

+ Countries socially already reversed (eg vollgenderisiert) are as Sweden, have already started with the criminalization of cash (the so-called spearhead here. Unions)

+ With the discount stores in DE and AT now pay not only the young pseudo-educated small amounts with the card. The boys are therefore not and the elderly can make no resistance.

+ On the trains from Germany to Switzerland , there are now regular "cash investigators"

+ Exchange of Cash of € 2000 of large bills into smaller can be carried out to dateat the Bank (at the bank Sparkasse = DE) , only after being "read" into the account

It's simple - they have a budget, and if they don't use it all, they lose it. That's how bureuacrats think about the world.

My old bank did the same thing and the contents had the same shortcomings, so everyone who didn't get RIF'd just took their bag home and supplemented an actual office-disaster bag with useful items (blood clotting sponges, gauze, splint, small LED flashlight, etc.). What kind of emergency do you have in an office? Building collapse (trapped, broken bones, etc.), shooting (traumatic injuries including sucking chest wounds, etc.), bad storm or similar incident traps you there for 24 hours, etc. The kits don't cover those situations well - they're just enough to make you frustrated in an actual incident. A better solution would be to put 1 really good quality first aid and disaster kit on each floor. These fanny pack kits will all end up in the garbage or used other places (at home) like the rest of our tax dollars.
