A Modest Proposal To Fix Obamacare: "Change The Name"
This was originally supposed to be a post about the household balance sheet, but after reading the following example of just how profoundly the Obama administration has crashed intellectually, morally and in every other aspect, we promptly changed our mind following one of the most profound Lewis Black moments yet.
As everyone knows by now, and especially in the aftermath of the Jonathan Gruber revelations which have made it clear that every single proponent of the Affordable Care Act is, well, an idiot, Obamacare has been not only a big disappointment - actually debacle may be a better word - with the administration's lackeys recently testifying to Congress why they fabricated enrollment numbers, but worse, it has sent healthcare premiums for tens of millions of Americans soaring higher in the process crushing any "savings" America's middle-class may have had courtesy of plunging gas prices (as explained yesterday).
And so, slowly but surely, Obamacare has transformed from the most admired law of the land to the most loathed and despised.
What is truly outrageous, or perhaps hilarious, is that this transformation has not been lost on the Obama administration itself. And now, engaged in unprecedented damage control, the former Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, on Wednesday suggested a simple fix to the “bad brand” of Obamacare: change the name.
As Politico reports, “I think we may need to call it something in the future different, but it is working,” Sebelius said at POLITICO’s “Lessons from Leaders” event.
Sebelius, who resigned in April following the botched roll out of President Barack Obama’s signature health law, said that current issues involving the Affordable Care Act have to do with its commonly used name.
“Obamacare, no question, has a very bad brand that has been driven intentionally by a lot of misinformation and a lot of paid advertising,” Sebelius said.
But she insisted the law is working.
“Not only are people getting coverage, [but also] the largest drop in uninsured rates in this country, the lowest healthcare cost growth in this country ever recorded,” Sebelius said. “So, it’s actually doing what it’s supposed to do and creating a competitive market for people who had no choice.”
Anyone surprised? Remember: these are the same people who bet on America's stupidity to pass the law in the first place. How can there possibly be any surprise that all they are doing now is doubling down that Americans are truly the dumbest people in the world, and hoping that they can be fooled by something as idiotic as a name change?
And just what should "Obamacare" be changed to? For the answer, we open it up to our readers, who we are confident can come up with far better names than the administration ever could.

As if changing the name will make it suck less balls. If I step in shit and call it "essence of roses", it just makes me look like a delusional fuckwit. It does not make the shit on my shoes stink less.
"Obamacare has transformed from the most admired law of the land..."
WTF?!?!?! The nightmare known as Obama care has NEVER been admired by the majority of the population. Yes, the mentally deficient and other socialists swoon over the government taking over all aspects of our lives but rational, reasonable, people know better.
The Socialists believe the government should take over all aspects of other people's lives but not their own. See France's millionaire and billionaire "socialists". They fly 1st class and stay in presidential suites but yet are socialists.

I'll chalk that one up to "literary license for dramatic effect" to create a stark contrast.
A "hated Law" into the "most hated Law" just doesn't create the same tension.
Republicans will repeal Obamacare… they just need a little more time…
Can you believe people still support them? LOL
I know...
People should have voted for the Democrats to fix it.
*snicker*
As rates go up and it becomes more apparent that Obamacare is a nightmare the government will push this stupid idea of rebranding. The term Obamacare will start to vanish from main stream media. If the news seems me be more skewed lately it may be the government is more involved it writing it.
For decades a so-called anti-propaganda law prevented the U.S. government's mammoth broadcasting arm from delivering programming to American audiences. On July 2, 2013 that taboo came silently to an end with the implementation of a new law passed in January. This unleashes thousands of hours per week of government-funded radio and TV programs for domestic U.S. consumption. This "reform" was criticized by many human rights activist as a green light for U.S. domestic propaganda efforts. More on the implications of this new law in the article below.

This may need some rebranding as well.
How about the:
"We Don't Even Have To Try To Be Subtle About Lying Act."
Nah, too clunky...
Ooh, I got it...
"Dumb Peasants Information Act."
Much better.
If Obama wants to remove his name from this dung heap, even they must realize this program is a sinking ship.
So . . . it is no longer a turd if you merely call it something different. Perhaps organically-processed recycled compost? .Gov has a history of renaming/branding troublesome concepts. May I suggest 'Fucking Awful Tax', or FAT as the strike/replace for ACA.
The think the term Obamacare is bad, I was thinking Affordable Care Act was more offensive. It is actually 2 programs. The Free Care Act for the FSA and the As Much As You Can Afford Act for the rest.
"As Much As You Can Afford Act"? Only one problem with that, nobody can afford this shit.
I had a great policy that covered the whole family for $1700 a year. Then along came Ofuckyacare and my premium went from $140 a month to over $400 a month. Deductible went from $250 to $1000. And my company dumped all the spouses regardless of whether or not they could obtain coverage through their own jobs. (My wife can't get insurance through her job as she works for a small business that can't afford to provide coverage. This is why she was on mine.) My company would have dumped my kids too if it wasn't illegal to do so. So I'm paying four times more, for worse coverage, for fewer people, and my wife has no coverage at all because there is no chance this side of hell she will sign up for Ofuckyacare. (Attagirl!)
Can't wait for January and tax time to see how much we're getting scalped for the penaltax. It's gonna be a solid four figure penalty if da gubmint doesn't accept a hardship excuse. Which they won't. So I'm fucked.
Just a small point, your expense went up by 3x (including deductables), not 4x. A small consolation I know. I had a similar experience so I feel your pain!
This is what politics has been for some time now and shows the only way these people think. Present a turd as a truffle on a silver platter and they'll love it. Just don't feed me any. Displays the total psychology of the political class in one idea.
I like Mafia-Care or the
Un-Affordable Don't Care Act.
I read the article and went into the bathroom to start screaming at the wife about the terminal stupidity of the clown-show running things in this country and how, if anything in this great green world we call home would cause me to commit suicide, that these people would be the cause.
"Yes dear, they're really out to get you." wasn't the response I was looking for but it was better than nothing. How does applying make-up supersede an impending aneurism?
Then I clicked on the Lewis Black link...
I feel vindicated. He knows...
The brain cannot function when faced with such egregious assaults on it's very nature and it seeks relief by self annihilation.
I am only with you now due to a Herculean effort on my part to remain on this mortal coil, but if I remember correctly, Hercules story didn't end very well.

From our friends in Congress, I present the new "Everyone Else But Us Plan"
Healthcare won't get fixed until Congress becomes part of "we the people".
Congratulations Sir.
You have won the Internet.
The press says that congress thinks we are stupid. I totally disagree. They don't think we are stupid but they do know we are apathetic and won't lift a finger to protect our wallet or rights. We are like frogs in a pot. Raise the temperature slowly and we will boil to death without a twitch.
It's called the ACA. Obama Care is a right wing moniker that Obama embraced. Yes, I know you don't want to hear it.
No, it's called Obamacare. ACA is the bill's name (and incorrect, as with most legislation1). Obama has used 'Obamacare' on many occasions including the 2012 presidential debates. He's stuck with it.
1 - *cough* Patriot Act *cough*
Every "success" = Obamacare
Every failure(99.999% of the bill) = ACA

Ah....the return of the Sebelius Syndrome..once again...I laughed so hard my sides hurt. It's not the name, it's what you get and if the bills for healthcare will be paid...duh...I said in 2009 this woman would be a big duper..
http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/02/kathleen-sebelius-kansas-governor...
She loves looking for magical algorithm fairies out there and it was so very public for years...
Want to dig a little more..look at this HHS ambitious framework to connect and share medical records between 23 Federal agencies and hell we don't even have Healthcare.Gov done...you can't make this stuff up, yup another data novice looking for some more algo fairies here..

People just dont' realize there's no magic wand for all of this, it takes time to write code!! duh!! On Gruber, folks better get used to dealing with folks like him and his perceptual thinking..it's the way math modelers and programmers think..not evil, just flat out hones and I can't tell you how many times I've used the word "stupid" and it's not really to insult but it's more of a way of venting frustration as we try to make things so the layman can understand we're not always that good at it, so in out own little private moments of frustrated fits, we call those who don't understand our madness, "stupid" but it's not for the public to hear. We get over it and then grow up again and realize we have to be professional and write some better models.
This happens in other places too, but again when on video, one has to be careful by all means when the camera's rolling and you want to vent and call someone stupid. We all do it to some degree.
Gruber's in the same boat as that Facebook data scientist who got so full of himself with his "psych study" a while back. Writing code and doing all of the modeling is not fun work and it takes every inch of your brain and you get insecure when creating such as you think you're never going to create a good enough plan too. So after doing all this grueling code work, the brainy folks bust out and want some attention:) Here read this..programming sucks...it's about trimming Satin's public hairs...lol. You do burnout, I did.
http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2014/07/programming-sucks-trimming-satan-pubic.html
Wy do you think they are training prisoners to code...it's that grueling today with complexities, so there you go, the new prison sentences you have to write code like San Quentin is doing, can't make this up.
http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2014/11/training-prisoners-to-code-at-san.html
So in view of the above, yup the Sebelius Syndrome is back and what a big duper she is:)
