Evil Booze Deflation Got Your Keynesian Spirits Down? Then Rejoice In The Biggest Surge In Beef Prices Since 2003
Remember: deflation is bad, evil, horrible... except when it involves tumbling crude oil prices: then it is "unambiguously good" for the consumer and a "tax cut." Which is why we are moritifed to report that for the second month in a row, alcohol prices have dropped, and are down 0.1% from a year ago. Surely, time for more QE to reset US consumer inflation expectations?
Or maybe not, because if said Keynesian US consumer is drowning his sorrows from declining alcohol prices in, well, alcohol, all shall be well if on the side said consumer orders some steak: with a price increase of 28.6% from a year ago, this is the biggest annual jump in beef prices since 2003.
High fives all around the at the Federal Reserve Bank of Goldman Sachs.

The Biggest Surge In Beef Prices Since 2003
So this is bullish for bulls?
As long as the price of tofu burgers doesn't go up, I'm good...
They're already overpriced, since the veggie burger industry is not subsidized like the beef industry is.
Perhaps you are slow due to phytoestrogens which should not be consumed by men and most women. I will not consume commercially raised beef due to the practice of using female hormones in feed lots. Unfortunately this means beef not so contaminated is out of my price range except as a rare treat. The Increasing amount of estrogens in our environment, which we are being constantly exposed, is not good for health.
Miffed
Drink a little more, eat a little less.
Christys is having a wine auction....they have a 300 year old bottle....I bet some of that goes for $100,000 plus a bottle.....some 1%ers have to much money..
lol, even there they scam each other with counterfeit "vintage" wines.
By definition all 1%ers, have too much money.
"By definition all 1%ers, have too much money."
That question should be answered by the 1%, who have 90% of the vote...
Booze deflation? Not in Bourbon....
Meh, meat's bad for you anyway.
You sound like a vegan with a protein-starved brain who believes the idiocy of the health "experts." :P
Protein starved brain? Clogged arteries starve brains.
You are correct. Animal protein is loaded with Omega 6 fats and is highly inflammatory given the ratios of omega 6 to omega 3 fats most americans take in as part of their diets.

edit: I see you are getting whacked on this simple truth, and this response has taught me one simple rule:
People will go to great lengths to prove that their preferred eating style is healthy.
I've got my 32oz soda and my porterhouse steak.
Piss off marxists.
There could be a fat scooter in your future.
And thus I prove my point.
What point did you prove?
That it's impossible for a socialist to mind their own business.
If God had not meant for us to eat meat, he would have made cows out of vegetables.
He made em out of grass. We make em out of grain, chicken shit, etc. Huge difference in the final product...
Actually they are made out of vegetables, at least in their natural state, before they get to the feedlot.
That's just great. So, I'm a vegan after all? Good! Gimme another steak will you?
What do they do with all the $14.99 beef, that I used to pay $5.99 , that just sits there now, turning an ugly color of brown ????
They spray it with chemicals to make it pink again, then mark it down to $11.99.
I bought a package of ground beef once that was pink on the outside and brown on the inside.
There has got to be a sexual joke in there, but I have only had 1 cup of coffee.

pink on the inside works for me :)
<--- edit. Why do waste your time?
They're all pink on the inside -- South Park
The guy that owns it will say he will eat it before he sells it for less cause it's worth that much to him, so in hind site it don't really matter what he does with as long as you don't get for $5.99.
sits there now, turning an ugly color of brown...
Dry aged wet cyropacked NY strip in the garage fridge from the local restaurant supply store. Make my own frn5.99 into frn14.99 beef at home, even after the trimmin.
The house dog will love you for it too.

Beef prices up 20%? I'll drink to that...
Better drive home....you're clearly too screwed up to walk.
And who didn't see this coming?? Hooked up with a local butcher some time ago and buy in bulk. One of my many good investments. :-)
My heifers drop a calf every year or year and a half. Yummy for my tummy. Fat and all.

Google translation of article in Dutch newspaper about gold investment of Dutch pension fund which was obstructed by the Dutch CB (DNB).
http://www.telegraaf.nl/feed/23443634/__DNB_moet_4_8_miljoen_betalen_in_...
Fri 12 Dec 2014 13:16 - DNB must pay 4.8 million in gold question
ROTTERDAM - De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) is the Rotterdam District Court over 4.8 million pay compensation to the Pension Fund United Glasfabrieken. This is because the regulator fund tapped five years ago wrongly on the fingers because that would invest too much in gold.
The pension fund in October 2009 expanded its investments in physical gold in up to 12 percent of the total portfolio. DNB found that it took too much risk and thereby gave the fund designation to reduce its investments in gold to between 1 and 3 percent.
But the price of gold was in when at a relatively low level. The fund was therefore forced to sell assets at a lower price. Therefore, it has appealed the decision. Which was subsequently declared by the court and later by the Board of Appeals for business founded. The pension fund then filed a damages.
DNB has announced the verdict finding disappointing. The regulator still reflecting on the possibility of an appeal.
Evil DNB with MH17 blood on their precious gold.
Maybe we should call it Peak Beef as opposed to Peak Oil.
Look for beef prices to decline in the coming years with the additional decline in jobs. double edged sword.
OBEC. Organization of Burger Exporting Countries.
not to be confused with the other OBEC. Organization of Booze Exporting Countries.
So by the chart beef is an ingredient in booze.
That fat guy that got caught in Walmart in his scooter sitting on meats had the right idea. At least he shot for the meat but got pinched. Reminds me of a guy who actually put a roast under his hat. Thing was at check out there was ths red blood like matter ozzing down side of face and head.
Sobieski Polish vodka, better than the 'premium' names and dirt cheap!
You said a mouthfull there. I bought a big bottle of that stuff thinking it would be rot gut, but I liked the box it was in and its some of the best I have ever tried. It is dirt cheap. Is been one of my quiet little secrets for some time SSSSSHHHH STFU or everyone starts piling in and it ain't cheap no more. And no Im not Polish, but I do come from a long line of, uhhhumm whiskey makers meself and these guys know their stuff.
Instant hangover bilge. Tito's Handmade is tops. No sugar or gelatin added. Goes for about $16/750mL.
Mooooooooo.
How's the price of cat doing?
funny how you note every tick of inflation for everything except stocks...duh, you think the market has gone up? lol why dont you adjust for inflation and see what the real value of stocks is after inflation
Short GOLDschlager.
Ridiculous barbarous relic.
TBTB wasnt insanely high beef prices. Exclusivity in choice fo rthem, and soylent for the masses.
A year ago beef producers were butchering their cattle because the cost of feed was getting too high due to drought conditions. The retail cost of beef dropped because of the excess product in stores.
Now the cost of beef is reverting back to the norm.
Naturally the prices appear to have risen.
This article is just BS!
I paid $5.68/lb for hamburger three days ago. It was well under $5 at the beginning of this year. Same store, same hamburger, etc. Yesterday, my boss told me what my raise/bonus is for this year. I don't know if I'll be eating hamburger much longer.
