Hostages were being held inside a central Sydney cafe where a black flag with white Arabic writing could be seen in the window, local television showed on Monday, raising fears of an attack linked to Islamic militants.
Australia, which is backing the United States and its escalating action against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, is on high alert for attacks by radicalized Muslims or by home-grown fighters returning from fighting in the Middle East.
Part of Martin Place, home to the Reserve Bank of Australia, commercial banks and close to the New South Wales (NSW) state parliament, was closed off by armed police.
Live television footage showed patrons inside a cafe standing with their hands pressed against the windows. A black and white flag similar to those used by Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria was also visible.
NSW Police tweeted: "A police operation is underway in Martin Place, Sydney's CBD. People are advised to avoid the area."
Dozens of police including a SWAT team were setting up and a couple of hundred people were being held back by cordons.

You just cannot get semi-automatic fire arms (I am not allowed to call them "weapons") or pump action shot guns or magazines that will hold a large number of rounds. However, if you join a sports shooting association you can buy hand guns or rifles for target shooting - if you pass the police checks. I feel that the police checks are far too gentile in that they do not want to be guilty of racial profiling.

About four paragraphs down in the article on that site, there's the line "With Muslims represented [key word: represented] in as many as 77 percent of the rape cases..." with a link.
Following that link we arrive at a wordpress blog which shows a graphic where it is stated:
"Foreign rapists [keyword: foreign] represent 77.6% of all figures... Note that the blue bracket of Swedish rapists include foreign born persons with Swedish citizenship as the statistics are only counted on citizenship, and not nationality."

I had to explain that while humorous, it was really an indication of the Australian pols and crats hedging their bets with China. They are highly dependent economically on China, and so don't want to be seen by China as all in against them.
Another friend, who is very much up on government use of false-flags, chimed in that the fascist west likes to use false-flags, like 9/11, to nudge nations and populations back into the fold. He said, "I wouldn't be surprised if the next 'terrorist' action/false-flag happened in Australia. A bus bomb or even something like in 2008 in India. A demonstration to the pols and crats, and a FUDing for the population."
We all said, "yeah, whatever," and went back to talking about where in the DC US we expected the next 9/11 like false-flag.

"carbon tax" issue has nothing to do with China. China is happy for all western countries to apply stupid CO2 restrictions to themselves, while China is not restricted.
Those "green policies" have meant we have been exporting industry and jobs to China, so no problem for them.
China's concerns with Australia are the military alliance with the US, and that Australia should not stop China buying up our country (and our government isn't), and that we should give them an open door to sell whatever they want into Australia (we are).
The Climate Change change has been driven by people getting fed up with electricity prices skyrocketing since the previous government started indulging in this climate change BS.
And it's kind of hard to stage a "false flag" event when the perpetrator is standing behind a glass window in the middle of the city for all to see for hours. False flag you anonymously place a bomb somewhere and blame someone else. You don't do it in person.
