Previewing Putin's "Moment Of Truth" Annual Press Conference And Address To Russia
For those wondering how Russia managed to contain the rout in its currency today, when it dropped from highs of USDRUB 80 yesterday to about 60, and leading to the biggest stock market surge in decades, the answer will be revealed tomorrow at noon Moscow Time, when Putin's annual address press conference will take place. As the rumor goes, both the central bank, the finance ministry and the Prime Minister, did everything in their power to stabilize the Ruble ahead of Putin's appearance, both through direct sales of dollars as well as with the already noted 7 measures to stabilize the financial system.
And this year, perhaps more than ever, Putin's role will be simple: restore confidence. As Bloomberg reports, citing Mashla Lipman a political analyst in Moscow, "This is a moment of truth. It’s no longer possible to go on in the same fashion. The economy is tumbling. The time has come for a definitive choice. Doing nothing won’t solve the problem."
However with the live webcast starting at 4 am Eastern, it is unlikely that many Americans will be awake to watch it. So for those who are willing to wait for the cliff notes, and are happy with the preview, here are two clips prepared specifically for Putin's annual press conference. In lieu of the just cancelled The Interview, these may be a good replacement considering their Hollywood-worthiness as dubbed by the Telegraph.
As caught earlier by Marketwatch, here’s the video that’s been running on Russia 1 television station’s website.
The narrator’s line, "A year of tough decisions," is interjected as Putin intones, “We took upon ourselves enormous responsibilities and risks,” Again, the narrator: “And long-awaited victories” — against a backdrop of Olympic winners. And then more tough talk about “politically motivated sanctions represent a mistake and they [the West] should not have broken a mechanism of checks and balances.” And a menacing note: “Our American friends are cutting off the branch they are sitting on.”
Scenes of Ukraine, flags flying, world leaders, terrorists, explosions, missiles firing out of the ocean, a polar bear.
And in case the dramatic effect was lost with the first clip, here is another.
So the tension and the dramatic build up is there: the question is can Putin live up to it at a time when he may have no choice but to step up to the plate.

Oh you want me to do your research for you?
I do not recall sanctions on Germany in the 1930s either. YOU made the claim, why not do the research?
Go ahead! Post a link!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupation_of_the_Ruhr
There you go. The Saar remained under French occupation until 1935.
Yes, good link. Point for you.
But the rest of the Rhineland (more territory and people than the Saar) was occupied by France from 1922 - 1924. France left the Rhineland in 1924, from your link.
Of course that was all allowed in the (very flawed) Versailles Treaty. Also from your link.
Losers don't get to dictate surrender terms.
The frenchman in charge of of all this was quite candid about his desire to drive Germany into the stone age. He wanted them all dead. Starving them would do. The French government demended and got payment in gold until the Dawes plan forced them to stop trying to bleed the turnip.
Germany didn't recover until they were able to exercize fiscal and monetary responsibility after the mark died. Hitler wanted to institute a bunch of socialist programs ... they really meant the socialist part of National Socialism. Public resistance to massive debt and currency debasement tied his hands in the late thirties, and was what was mostly responsible for Germany's recovery.
An interesting read.
You are confusing a private boycott with national and/or international sanctions backed by the force of law.
War reparations had an outsized affect on Germany in the 1930s. Helped create an atmosphere that made it possible for a Hitler to take power.

Montague Norman, head of the Bank of England managed to throw the Germans a number of really important credits, kept them going.
A surprising number of people supported the Nazis in the 1930s.
A surprising number of people supported the Communists in the 1970s.
A surpring number of people NOW support Putin...
“History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”-- Mark Twain
Let us kill that quote of Twain. Let us use reason. We shall not support Putin. We shall support his actions when they are in our (humanity's) best interests. If he stands against the banks then we support that. If he capitulates or sells out, off with his head.
You just confirmed my previous post start with this "the treaty of Versailles" then move along to the "Jewish boycott of Germany" after that you're on your own FFS read more
"It would be interesting to know what the US and EU have threatened to do if Russia follows this course. Whatever it is. Putin has to call their bluff.."

That's the thing WhyWait, even in international law I imagine 'threatening' is illegal! So USA (fuck the EU) can "do" squat except take another poke...
The bluff is in MH17.
But those sneaky Russians are also warning the UN (as in UN, ICJ ) that they are gonna call that bluff too, real soon, if they don't help/deliver the indictment.
Is that a threat!?!!! Oh Yeah.
WhyWait: "...This is his moment of truth. If he wimps out, he - and probably Russia - are finished. But he knows that, and he won't..."
I like your proposal and I hope you're right, but my gut tells me that he will wimp out with his standard Motherhood & Apple-pie speeches, just like any good politician. If he doesn't make a real move, it's because he can't: China has him on a short leash, now that he's their bitch. Until China comes out to back Russia unequivocally, I will remain skeptical as to their real intentions.
Bet you 60 Roubles ($1).
What he needs to do is say we are no longer selling our oil and gas for anything but gold.
Problem solved.
The POG would shoot so high so quick the US manipulators and super amount of shorts in gold would crap themselves the moment they woke up.
If that caused a spike in gold to say 2k or just simply exposed the fractional bullion reserve system for what it is - a total fucking fraud - the USD could tank over night.
Cmon Vlad... DO IT!
New day limits of up to $400 on Comex gold come into effect this Sunday.
Which is exactly why he needs to do this now.
I'd be happy with a couple of limit up days at $400 a piece... and in case you are reading this Yellen, a couple is two (2).
Pan-Asian currency of Ruble, Yuan and Rupee backed by gold.

Not my words.
All Putin has to say is "We will not bend to the West" and he is as good as gold.
All these Western pundits saying Putin is "done" have their heads up their asses.
Almost all western pundits are house niggers, singing for their suppers. I feel like puking every time they tell me what Putin is thinking, LOL. Their opinions are worthless.
Much to our dismay, I think good old uncle Vlad might be a little bit backed into a corner on this one. No doubt the attackers would've gone through every possible scenario during the 'play-in' to this moment. Much like Chess. They'll know he will be left with only a few moves and they'll have hedged against all of them. Smart chess players do that. Only hope is that they've missed a crucial opening and Vlad slides in a crafty one. Either way, if someone gets jittery it could get nasty. For all of us.
If you play Chess, you'll know that a player can make dozens of moves when it is their to move, but there is only ever one right move at each turn.
The secret is to make sure you make the right move before you press the clock to allow your opponent to make their next move.
I keep thinking of the currency war excercise Jim Rickards talked about in his book. It's a little hazy but I remember the US team thinking they were invulnerable to any economic impacts. Didn't end so well. Problem is that Putin really looks cornered, but I have a suspicion that this isn't ending anytime soon. What I'm curious is if Cypress was heavily invested with Russia, that would have beena perfect "test" scenario to back Cypress currency with gold. But it wasn't done.
Well only two Americans were good enough to beat the Russians at chess. Bobby Fischer and Paul Morphy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Morphy
Morphy was from New Orleans during the Civil War era. Fischer and others, plus Russians I have talked to, say Morphy was probably the greatest followed by Fischer. The Russians were not a chess power during Morphy's life.
Putin kicked Kasparov's ZWO ass.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjEmquJhSas
Here is little Magnus Carlsen beating douchebag Kazparov Z who was paid to show up and barely did.
Magnus Carlsen beat Kasparov when he was 13 years old. Today, Magnus is #1 and Shlomo Kasparov is still a douchebag. Note at 1:25, Magnus walks over and watches Karpov play. Fischer was supposed to defend his title against Karpov who is a gentleman and not a doucehbag like Kasparov. Also seen at 3:38.
No doubt the Russians have considered everything well in advance too. One could not believe that this situation comes as a complete surprise. We've been talking about it here since last spring.

EDIT:
KGB capo Vladimir Putin is well known to have said (wording not exact, but pretty close):
"The greatest catastrophe of the Twentieth Century was the breakup of the Soviet Union."
EDIT:
Actual wording varies by source. Here is one version w/ link:
Putin’s 2005 speech to Russians
Putin, a veteran of the Soviet spy agency called the KGB, made the comments Bolton cites in an April 2005 state of the nation address to the country’s top politicians and parliament. A version is available in English from the Kremlin archives. Putin’s words vary depending on the translation, but the idea remains the same.
From the Kremlin:
"Above all, we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the century. As for the Russian nation, it became a genuine drama. Tens of millions of our co-citizens and co-patriots found themselves outside Russian territory. Moreover, the epidemic of disintegration infected Russia itself."
The Associated Press translation is a little differently, subbing "catastrophe" for "disaster," and calling the breakup the "greateast geopolitical catastrophe of the century."
http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2014/mar/06/john-bolton/...
Do you seriously believe that Putin wants the USSR to rise from its ashes?
There are other channels on the teevee besides Faux News.
Did you click the link from the Kremlin itself (Putin's own speech)? A snippet and another the link for your convenience:
"Above all, we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the century."

Am I in the minority here that believes the collapse of the Soviet Union was a good thing?
What else would you expect one to say about the complete collapse of their country?
As a US citizen, you may soon find out.
More correctly: "...about the complete collapse of their empire?"
Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the "Stans" (as far as I can tell), Azerbaijan and Georgia are probably quite happy NOT to be a part of that empire.
Even Texas wants to stay part of the USA...
* * *
I agree that things do not look so good in the USA either.
I'm not arguing that the collapse of the USSR was a bad thing, but it is obvious that MSM misconstrues the Putin quote for propaganda purposes.
And Texans are an independent bunch, if the SHTF they will be the first state opting out of the American Empire.
Texans might indeed be the first out. They would probably be smart to do so if things get worse.
.
No, although you didn't earn any points for linking to John Bolton's analysis of Putin's speech. (In all fairness, that link does appear at or near the top of results returned from a google search, which is probably why you selected it. I'd have been worried about you if I thought you considered him a reliable source.)
The collapse of the Soviet Union cannot really be categorized as good or bad. To do so oversimplifies a complex issue. It is something which was inevitable; the disaster is not that it occurred, but rather how it occurred.
Dmitry Orlov does a good job explaining it here:
http://cluborlov.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-madness-of-president-putin.html
Also, as a seeker of truth, you really owe it to yourself to read the following article about the demonization of Putin. It was written by an American woman who has more than 30 years experience working with Russians, including direct experience with Putin in 1992, and with American officials and businessmen who have worked with Putin.
http://www.russiaotherpointsofview.com/2014/04/russia-report-putin-.html
The end of the Cold War was a great thing. So was the collapse of Soviet power. It open the prospect of an new entente between the two halves of Europe -- Catholic and Orthodox stretching from Lisbon to Vladivostok. Sadly, begiinning with our rape of Serbia, we chose empire instead, and all the work of Reagan (my old boss) and Gorbachev went down the drain.
NOTE: Putin is not in favor of restoring the USSR. The USSR was the One True Doctrine of Marxism-Leninism or it was nothing. Putin has no intention of bringing back the dictatorship of the proletariat, the leading role of the party, official atheism, and/or the expropiration of the means of production. In his speeches, he never quotes Reds (Lenin, Stalin, Bukharin), but often quotes White (Stolypin, Solzhenitsyn, Illin, Berdyaev, ect.)
As to why Putin considers the collapse of the USSR a "geopolitical catastrophe, you need look no further that Kiev genocidal assault against the Russian parts of Ukraine wth full US backing. And then there is this -- since the fall of this USSR, this has beent he fate of the Russian Federation and CIS:
More deaths than in Rwandan genocide
More persons ethnically cleansed than in Yugoslavia
100,000 die in 2 wars in Chechnya
10,000 die during peace between the 2 wars
30,000 die in Nagorno-Karabakh
15,000 die in civil war in Abkhazia
5,000 die in civil war in S. Ossetia, 1,000 in Pridnestrovie, 1,000 in S. Ossetia-Ingushetia conflict
More than 1,000,000 Armenians and Azeris flee their countries
5,000,000 Russians flee ex-Soviet republics, etc.
We were pleased that the Cold War ended without a shot being fired and we revelled in the prospect of a "peace dividend" (which we promptly squandered, but that is another story.) That is not have the Cold War ended for Russia. That is what Putin talking about.
It's quite a leap from the "breakup was a disaster" to 'hey, that was fun. Let's do it again."
Don't you think that Putin's statement:
refers to the fact that the 'breakup' of the USSR permitted the treacherous West to install Patriot missiles less than 100 miles from the Russian border?
From TFMetals Poster Lamenting Laverne from yesterday... interesting stuff:
"All Putin has to do is...
1) Allow Rouble to be hammered by idiotic paper traders - off loading toxic USDs in defense, while decreasing Rouble liquidity abroad that can be used for speculative attacks and immediate purchases of energy - Status: Done
2) Raise interest rates - and take the hit in bonds, so he has some head room for necessary investment debt expansion later - Status: Done or partially done
3) Become victimized by "isolation" to justify the necessity for introducing alternative methods of international trade and settlement - Enter the hastened Go-Live test on the 15th Dec of the AltSwift system that has probably been ready for a long time, just as the Shanghai Gold contract was ready to go live in time for the Scottish referendum, despite a later initially "planned" introduction. Western banks halting currency pair trade and withdrawing liquidity to Russian entities. (East-West Collusion much?) All providing cover for dramatic change. - Status: In progress.
4) As per FOA (who btw resurfaced a couple of years ago on Santa's website) and Another - make an offer of lets say 100 barrels of oil at lets say 1 ounce of physical gold or the equivalent value in Roubles - which means that nifty arbitrageurs, who have previously shorted the snot out of the Rouble and have no excess reserves to spend will be forced to buy physical gold, if they want to buy Oil/Gas in Russia. This will logically send Gold to at least 5500 USD in a bat of an eye, and the Rouble will no longer be weak, even if not directly convertible to gold. As already mentioned - hence western brokers getting out of dodge with closure of currency trading. Hence trading collars. Hence bricking up windows at the fed. Hence European countries scrambling to repatriate. Status: Not there yet - but I cannot help but thinking that we are very very close now.
4) Any trade imbalances with e.g. China and Europe will result in lack of Rouble reserves, so China and Europe will have to settle the balance with Gold and vice versa for Russia - hence the reason for Russia/China and Co having bought physical hand over fist in preparation and the reason the EU countries are (maybe too late) trying to repatriate their sizable reserves, before the switch. Note that the balance sheets of Southern European Central banks will look very different once this step has been made. In fact, they might come out smelling like roses, if they have the gold reserves they claim to have.
I think the announcement that the South Stream deal with Europe was off and that the new buddy-buddy was Turkey was a massive-massive-massive thing. It showed that the alignments have shifted. Turkey, Russia (and Iran) now on the same side of the boat.
And I actually think that Saudi/OPEC is also on board with this now as well. Why else would Saudi and OPEC refuse to cut production and stabilize prices, when they know that not doing so will blow up the derivatives that have been partially responsible for levitating prices in "all is good and rosy land" and expose the ongoing depression for what it is. If they were operating on a going concern basis, why would they not want as high a USD price as they could get - compensating for the fact that the USD is debased on an ongoing basis. The only reason I can see, is because they are no longer in going concern mode and they know an alternative form of compensation is at hand, once physical supply/demand levels have been calibrated to pre-switch price minus excessive speculative distortion.
They too have said they want to have a non-levered oil market, where physical supply and demand determines price. Not a mountain of speculative paper that will ultimately turn their current paper reserves into junk. They too want gold for their resources. And they want to control the - ahem - clergy by themselves - not by an alphabet agency of a foreign power.
The fact that OPEC and Saudi has not been willing to cut production is proof to me that the alliances has already shifted and that there is fire in the hole - anytime now. Capital has been fleeing the Middle East big time too. Not because their model is broken all of a sudden, but because a financial earthquake is about to hit. The outflows from London starting early this year and intensifying massively in August was the calling card of trouble.
Anyways, that is how it looks to me."

Probably 4 months ago or so - Dr. Jim Willie said the Saudis were very pissed off because the Americans and British were stealing the Saudi gold being stored in London.
Willie said there would be a pivot by the Saudis and it would be more towards China plus probably Russia.

Ties into what I've heard about the sovereign wealth funds of the GCC being
redenominated in SDR's four months ago.The US can't attack those without undermining the
USD.Only reason to do it is you think you are about tol become a target, not an ally.
Lots going on and the poster is put together a probable picture.
A very reasonable theory ! On top of it, somewhere in that process the entire North American oil industry is getting killed... as we speak.
Currencies are not magical. They respond to supply and demand just like everything else.
Blaming problems on 'Evil Speculators' is the oldest political trick in the book to deflect attention away from a politician's stupid decisions. Hence, Lehman and Bear Stearns didn't happen because they got over-leveraged with bets on risky CDOs, no, no. Their CDOs weren't risky because the government told banks they had to lend to people who would never be able to pay it back, no, no. The whole fiasco didn't happen because Greenspan printed too much money, no, no.
It happened because of evil short-traders who shorted the CDO's into oblivion.
This ought to sound familiar. Because you just heard a variation of it.
The Ruble didn't start going down because legitimate businesses want their money out of Rubles and into something else, no, no. Legitimate businesses don't want to get out of the RUble because Putin and the Duma said they were going to seize their assets, no, no.
The Ruble that derives at least 50% of its value from enery sales is not going down because of normal market competition in the oil market, no, no. Increased North American Production that would make the US, with its vast port facilities and access agreements to Asia and the Pacific rim, into a net oil exporter in a couple of years has nothing to do with Saudi Arabia's decision to lower oil prices until the US cuts production, no, no. The Saudi's statements that that is precisely what they are doing and why are not to be believed, no, no.
It is because 'untrustworthy partners' are using their state-owned, er, ahem, their loyal ally under the Petro-Dollar "We pump oil for Dollars, so you don't have to in return for military protection" alliance, state-owned oil company to attack Russia.
Because everyone knows that the devout Wahabist Muslims in Saudi Arabia are very Pro-Israel, and pro-US and are very anti-Russia.
When you say it like that it sounds rediculous...because it is.
P.S. The Ruble isn't going down because everyone who has them wants to trade them for something else, no, no. Ignore the empty store shelves. Ignore the lines of people who want to buy anything, ANYTHING real to avoid devaluing Rubles. It's not that, no, no!
It's because non-Russian currency traders have more Rubles than Russians do and want to sell them. All at once. Even though Russia doesn't have lots of external debts that would lead to foreigners holding a lot of Rubles.
See the evil foreign speculator who got Rubles from the ether (because if Russia has no debts, then there is litterally no way for foreigners to have gotten Rubles) selling Rubles just to hurt YOU, without any regard for what that does to the value of whatever it was they didn't do to get those Rubles in the first place?
You can't make this up. This narrative is so self-contradictory as to be schizophrenic.
BITCHEZ
the best "ace" any leader ever had and West knows it : back off or we're all "hot" .
International law has been a recurring theme in what Lavrov and Putin have been saying all year. It's fundamental, hence the issue of MH17 needs to be addressed. The "official" investigation has had ample time to report to the world and it may be that Russia has been giving it that time to let some 'diplomatic' solution be presented. It is not unthinkable that the press conference held by the Russian military shortly after the tragedy was meant to telegraph that the Russians KNOW what happened to a sufficient degree that international justice wasn't optional. No long drawn out investigation as these things used to go.
This is fundamental not only to the families of the victims but to the UNSC's handling of the matter. If Russia has enough evidence to show that the Kiev government is unfit to protect international laws, then clearly there is a need for a UN peacekeeping force. Russia shouldn't be unilaterally deploying forces nor should the USA, and Ukraine is unfit to govern itself.
Failing to discuss MH17, as dangerous a topic as it is, would be very disappointing.

A few outfits with names like "Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets Bond Fund" and "Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management" and "Neuberger Berman" are going to lose some $30 Billion. The Journal reported, and Hasentab confirmed, that as of September 30
the Ukrainian bond value held by his group was $8.78 billion. But
missing from his media placements is the price Franklin Templeton paid
for its Ukraine bonds. Market sources believe the outlay was less than
$4 billion. If it can collect face value at the scheduled maturity, the
profit would be roughly 100%. But if there is a bond default, followed
by a long-term extension of the maturity date and a cut in redemption
value, Franklin Templeton stands to lose most of its outlay.
Mark Mobius at Templeton must be smoking crack. Old man Templeton would be turning over in his grave knowing they were doing business with the scum in Kiev.

The USA's sanctions levied upon Russia because of this 'Ukrainian Issue' is all but a false delimma-- this 'Moton's Fork' of provocation as punishment for the Syrian, and Iranian sovereignty... this 'Raison d'etre! ... that Israel[?] refuses to allow-to-exist<PERIOD> Yes Israel is so entrenched in American politics, that its ViceChair of the FRB was just the BOSSMan Of Israel's Central Bank with a D[d]UaL CitiZENship! Ukraine is a fish rotting from the head down because of-- 'Fuck-the-EU`Nulander's`Kaganization duality, regarding USSA's vanguard symbiotic Foreign Poliicy! Think of the Ukraine today as a piece of meat (pawn?) that smells, so what does the EU and USSA do but throw salt (money, lots of $$$) on it. But, what do you do when the SALT smells? This is as close a metaphor I can think of...[?]
Turkey has been aligning itself with Russia for some tyme now, and Germany behind the scenes. They realize the only game in town is getting on the right side of China via Russia.
Turkey will stay neutral as long as their sovereignty remains unchallenged and that means staying at arms legnth from NATO. If by chance Erdogan's hand is forced by the USSA he will shut down Izmir AFB and Iskenderum Naval Base... and perhaps the Bosphorus???
Erdogan realizes the Gulen Movement is sponsered by the USSA to overthrow him and perhaps get a USSA puppet running the Kemaist/ Secular country?
Remember that the last couple of years regarding the Bilderberg's Group Agenda has been jammed-packed with Turkish media and anti-Erdogan antagonist. Besides, Turkey doesn't need a Balkan's resurrection, or Bulgarian flareup with its country bordering eight nations.
Russia can be the trade-off to calm the seas if such unpleasantness does occur whereas Russia today under Putin's rule has been quite responsible and stable. Good post, Turkey never belonged in NATO and really doesn't want to get on Russia's shit list.
Maybe he will wave by to Cuba...another pawn gone
Like Putin really cares about Cuba. Missile technology has advanced since 1962.
Not only that, but Putin is playing a pretty good PR game for Americans. He doesn't want to scare the American public or do something that would back up American propaganda. He knows the American public has no say in what is happening.
Cuba is the gateway to Eastern South America and the " Cape of Good Hope Passage" until the second passage is finished through the South American Isthmus.
You are kidding, right? Cuba is the gateway to nothing. Why would anyone need to go through Cuba to get to Colombia, or Venezuela, Suriname, etc.? %he Panama canal was dug to avoid going around the Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn. Cape of Good Hope is at the southernmost point of Africa.
I thought Cuba was the gateways to drinks (Cuba libra, rum), cigars and... socialized medicine.

All we need is a little push and this country is ready for wide open war.
@ Bloomberg reports, citing Mashla Lipman a political analyst in Moscow…
It’s not anti-Semitic to say that the push against Russia is coming from the Israeli connection and the Zionists who literally control American foreign policy. The fight is about energy and a banker control of Eastern Europe, up to and including the Russian Federation.
And, now, we have an analysis of Putin’s talk. That’s called pre-propaganda, telling the audience what’s going to be said and what it means even before its delivery. Once more, Bloomberg, a part of the Zionist network in the U.S., is the author, and the selection of a Jewish spokesman (Lipman) is a violation of justice, fairness and ethical standards – a violation leading to the very destruction of not only Russia but America.
This preemptive strike on Putin has the handprints of the Zionist influence and it includes the power of the ECB, NATO, IMF and, yes, the Federal Reserve. If it isn’t curtailed, it will sink the work into world government and peoples of the East and the West will all be the same: Bolshevik slaves.
Mark Nesop of the Kremlin Stooge writes of Masha Lipman and her prejudice against Putin:
“After Putin seized Ukraine’s southern Crimea region, a U.S. Senate panel approved a bill on emergency funding for the country that would widen the scope of sanctions to include any Russian involved in ‘significant corruption. ‘ This more or less declares open season on Russian business as a whole.
“Masha Lipman, another Russia hater at the Carnegie Moscow Centre, smacks her lips approvingly: ‘This law would enable the U.S. to go after any member of Putin’s entourage. The point is to deepen the fractures within the Russian elite. The idea is to weaken Putin so he can be contained.’

In “The Global Political Awakening and the New World Order :The Technological Revolution and the Future of Freedom” Andrew Gavin Marshall on Global Research, June 24, 2010, indirectly warns of the global intentions of the Carnegie Moscow Center. He wrote of “a new and unique development in human history that is taking place around the world; it is unprecedented in reach and volume, and it is also the greatest threat to all global power. Lipman is a part of that reach.
Wrote Marshall:
“The Transnational Capitalist Class (TCC), or ‘Superclass’ as David Rothkopf refers to them, are globalized like never before. For the first time in history, we have a truly global and heavily integrated elite. As elites have globalized their power, seeking to construct a ‘new world order’ of global governance and ultimately global government, they have simultaneously globalized populations.”
Marshall then references the writings of members of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, of which Lipman’s group, Carnegie Moscow Center, is a top ranking think tank tentacle:
“In 1992, Strobe Talbott wrote an article for Time Magazine entitled, ‘The Birth of the Global Nation.’ Talbott worked as a journalist for Time Magazine for 21 years, and has been a fellow of the Yale Corporation, a trustee of the Hotchkiss School and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a director of the Council on Foreign Relations, the North American Executive Committee of the Trilateral Commission, and the American Association of Rhodes Scholars, and a member of the participating faculty of the World Economic Forum. Talbott served as Deputy Secretary of State from 1994 to 2001 in the Clinton administration and currently sits as President of the Brookings Institution, one of the premier American think tanks.
“In his 1992 article, ‘within the next hundred years,’ Talbott wrote, ‘nationhood as we know it will be obsolete; all states will recognize a single, global authority.’ He explained:
“’All countries are basically social arrangements, accommodations to changing circumstances. No matter how permanent and even sacred they may seem at any one time, in fact they are all artificial and temporary. Through the ages, there has been an overall trend toward larger units claiming sovereignty and, paradoxically, a gradual diminution of how much true sovereignty any one country actually has.’[36]
“Further, he wrote that, ‘it has taken the events in our own wondrous and terrible century to clinch the case for world government. With the advent of electricity, radio and air travel, the planet has become smaller than ever, its commercial life freer, its nations more interdependent and its conflicts bloodier.’[37]
“David Rothkopf, a scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, former Deputy Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade in the Clinton administration, former managing director of Kissinger and Associates, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, recently wrote a book titled, “Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making.” As a member of that ‘superclass,’ his writing should provide a necessary insight into the construction of this ‘New World Order.’ He states that, ‘In a world of global movements and threats that don’t present their passports at national borders, it is no longer possible for a nation-state acting alone to fulfill its portion of the social contract.’ He wrote that, ‘progress will continue to be made,’ however, it will be challenging, because it ‘undercuts many national and local power structures and cultural concepts that have foundations deep in the bedrock of human civilization, namely the notion of sovereignty.’ He further wrote that, ‘Mechanisms of global governance are more achievable in today’s environment,’ and that these mechanisms ‘are often creative with temporary solutions to urgent problems that cannot wait for the world to embrace a bigger and more controversial idea like real global government.’”[38]

Putin Q&A
http://sputniknews.com/russia/20141218/1015945093.html
Obviously the goal for the west is to economically deprive Russia of the ability to make war in Ukraine, and on a larger scale to prevent Russian global expansion and acquisition of energy resources.
This economic warfare will lead to Bullets and Bombs.
No Doubt.
If West is powerful enough to crash a powerful economy and country such as Russia, in short order, without negative consequences to itself, then how is it they were not powerful enough to sweep Ukraine out of Russia's hands in the same time frame?
It is a cartoon that is self-contradictory.
The same logic used to attribute all Ukraine's problems to the West, falls apart when applied to Russia itself, and vice versa.
If the 'Evil Ones' can topple the Russian economy - VASTLY LARGER AND MORE POWERFUL THAN UKRAINE'S - then why do they need to do it with Nazi's and military in Ukraine? Why did it take so long? Are you saying that Ukraine is actually bigger and stronger than Russia? Hence the greater and more intrusive effort to control it?
Which is it?
Is the West so strong that it can control and manipulate everything or isn't it?
Are the 'Evil Ones' able to sweep Russia away in an instant...but not Ukraine????? Which is it? These ideas can't live with each other. They are like matter and anti-matter. To make it work you have to compartmentalize your mind to keep them separated.
gcj
Surely you must mean without ADDITIONAL negative consequences to itself. No?
Except for the artificial prices of the market averages and the individual stocks that comprise them...
And the phony numbers released by the Fed, Commerce, and BLS....
And the cheerleading MSM with their pom poms and little short skirts wiggling their shaven pussies at us....
The outlook is worse now than it was in 1932.
When all your problems are due to diabolical untrustworthy partners you may be sure the REAL problem is you.
Even the worst bad guy cannot be responsible for everything.
And assigning him responsibility for everything keeps you from doing what you must to solve what you can.
Politicians love the kind of crap in this speach: everything is Doctor Evil's fault, everything bad is because of Doctor Evil, who wants to break you up and eat you because they want frozen tundra so much.
It is a cartoon.
The truth is that nations are never truly friendly to one another because the oligarchs who run them are always and everywhere egomaniacal selfish people concerned primarily with their own wealth and power. So, yes, they do nasty things to one another and to us.
But there is a world of difference between that kind of vigourous competition for money and power and this cartoon picture of the universally maleficient 'partners' Putin has spoken of in this speach.
The 'Evil' partner who is responsible for all your problems exists nowhere but in your mind, and never has at any point in history, to any people in history, or anywhere in history.
And there is a very good reason why: People are more concerned with their own lives than with yours.
The picture Putin painted in this speech was of a very particular Russian Cartoon character...Shaguclack... The evil old-woman who is always hiding just around the corner to ruin everything.
Oil is going down because of a price war. The price war is to capture customers in the Pacific region.
The price war will be temporary., lasting only a few more months at this extreme level, because all the oil producers have become addicted to higher oil prices. Saudi Arabia has vast armies of jihadists to keep busy outside fo Saudi Arabia. They also have vast armies of entitlement recipients who will stop supporting the House of Saud if they continue to be cut too deeply.
The price war on the Russian side will end soon because high energy prices are what has been funding Russia's military modernization program and because the Ruble's value is more than 50% based on oil and energy.
The price war o the US side will end because too few Frackers are profitable at this level, and without even HIGHER production that could lead to net energy exports, Pacific Rim supply is a pipe-dream. It will all be sold here.
This isn't about malefaction.
It is about keeping up with the Jones'.
By the way...
I support competing real currencies, with no barriers to entry into the 'currency making' business.
You want to use BitCoin? Go FOR IT!
You want to use Gold? Go FOR IT!
So...for all those like Jim WIllie CB, who I have have a lot of respect for, I have a question.
If Russia and China are ready to establish an Eastern Gold Standard, why can't Russia just say, "Here is an independent audit of our Gold, and a future audit schedule. One Ruble is now defined as 1/10,000th an ounce"?
If Russia wants a real Gold standard, if Russia has the Gold to establish a real Gold Standard, then why wouldn't they halt the fall of the Ruble by announcing it now?
The Ruble would halt its slide over-night. Everyone would say, "You have the Gold, you have the oil, and 1 Ruble (which would also need to be a minted coin) is a quantity of Gold...How might I not get paid?"
Stated another way, the value of the Ruble is based on Oil, Gas, Weapons, and maybe gold. Those four things are the Ruble's collateral. Oil and Gas are down leading to the Ruble to be down...and a lack of confidence is driving the Ruble further down.
Why don't they show their 'maybe' Gold Collateral? It kind of looks like the viability of the Ruble is tied to that 'maybe' collateral, so why not make it into definite visible collateral? Especially when the wealth of Putin's friends and Putin himself is shrinking due to the Ruble's confidence crisis?
...Unless there's not enough Gold for the Ruble to be even minutely supported by this collateral?
