ISIS "CyberCaliphate" Celebrates USCENTCOM Twitter, YouTube Hack

Tyler Durden's picture

Update 3: According to SITE (the Jihadist Threat Monitopring Service), the recent cyber-attack on The United States Central Command's (CENTCOM) Twitter and YouTube accounts, attributed to pro-Islamic State (IS) hacking group "CyberCaliphate," has been celebrated as a massive achievement among IS fighters and supporters on Twitter.

Update 2: Centcom's YouTube account has also been hacked...

Update: 40 minutes after the first hacked tweet appeared at 12:29pm Eastern, the Centcom account has been suspended.

Another day, another escalation in the conflict between supporters of the Islamic State and western powers, in this case the Twitter account of the US Central Command (@Centcom), which appears to have been hacked, and where compromising tweets revealing details about military members and potential conflict scenarios involving China and North Korea, are being sent out in real time.

This is the threat that was released via the hacked account moments ago:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the CyberCaliphate under the auspices of ISIS continues its CyberJihad. While the US and its satellites kill our brothers in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan we broke into your networks and personal devices and know everything about you.

You'll see no mercy infidels. ISIS is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base. With Allah's permission we are in CENTCOM now.

We won't stop! We know everything about you, your wives and children.

You really need to go back and read that story.  The headline is misleading.

Yes, there is a village and area where they have lost more than 2,000 people.  But that is in the total time of the "war."

That clarification doesn't make it right, or good, or insignificant.

It just isn't what happened in a single day.

Here's my problem with this entire (and horrible) ISIS situation, where so many muslims, and Kurdish women and children, have been beheaded by these psycho scumbags, is the following pattern:

Back in the late 1990s, Julie Sirrs, an analyst with the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) journeyed to Pakistan and Afghanistan, and after a period returned with both an impending warning of terrorist attack on US soil, and evidence from the leader of the Northern Alliance, Ahmad Shah Massoud, implicating Unocal and the CIA in the financing and arming of the Taliban and al Qaeda.

Of course, the DIA confiscates Ms. Sirrs' data, and immediately revokes her security clearance, forcing her out of the DIA.

Conveniently, several days prior to 9/11 (09/09/01), Ahmad Shah Massoud is assassinated by two al Qaeda suicide bombers posing as journalists doing an interview with him.

So, the Northern Alliance leader cannot be around to say that he warned America and repeat his position that Unocal and the CIA funded and armed them, while Ms. Sirrs has also been removed from the picture.

Also, most conveninetly, on 9/11/01 the DIA's auditing team, which had uncovered an unaccounted for (missing) $2.3 trillion of DoD funds, and they are almost all killed that morning with the crashing of Flight 77 into their conference room on the Pentagon's west wall, with the remaining few serously injured.

(So, you wouldn't want to be an agent for the DIA, or an auditor, unless you are seriously bent?)

Meanwhile, we've recently learned with the articles surrounding the release of the Senate's summary on their report on CIA torture, that effectively only several people (Afreda Bikowsky, Jose Rodriguez, Jr., and a fellow named Petras, I believe) have controlled the 9/11 script, from start to finish:  they sat on the information pointing to the 9/11 hijackers, released the Osama video tapes, destroyed the 92 torture tapes when requested for the Senate's investigation, and lied to the US Senate about their torture program.

They claim they have prevented future 9/11s, yet they seem to occur whenever an oil company and the CIA fund and arm terrorist groups, and now ISIS suddenly appears, when gas pipelines were proposed to run from Saudi Arabia across Syria to Qatar, but Syria refused to allow it to happen!

See any pattern here?

====

That the Pentagon was unprepared was no surprise to me. In early 1999, a DIA analyst came to me for help. She was in the process of being fired, and her story tells us volumes about why 9/11 caught America off guard and ill-prepared.

Julie Sirrs was one of a small number of Afghan analysts at the DIA. She took her job seriously, as she should have. She, in fact, went to Afghanistan, but was only permitted in those areas controlled by the Taliban.

Upon returning, she realized that her one-dimensional view of Afghanistan left gaping holes in the Department of Defense's understanding of the situation. She requested to go to Northern Afghanistan, especially to that area controlled by anti-Taliban Commander Masoud. She was denied permission to go.

Realizing the danger posed by her lack of information, Julie Sirrs took the initiative. She paid her own way, organized her own trip to the Panjshir Valley in Northern Afghanistan, which is the bastion of Commander Masoud, and he was the last Afghan holdout against the Taliban.

Well, I met with Masoud in one of his mountain strongholds 2 years before and had dinner with him and discussed strategy. That was risky. What Julie Sirrs did was even riskier for her. What she did was heroic.

When she got to the Panjshir Valley, she found out her assumptions were right. Something vital to America's security was happening, something she was not allowed to discover when she visited the Taliban-controlled areas.

Commander Masoud told her he was facing a new enemy in Afghanistan. Masoud's militia was finding itself in fire fights with some kind of fundamentalist foreign legion. Apparently, bin Laden was making Afghanistan his base of operations and importing Islamic radicals from around the world, training them as terrorist killers and then setting them against Masoud's troops for combat experience.

Masoud offered to let Julie and other Americans interrogate these foreign prisoners, many of whom he had captured.

This was an intelligence bonanza. Julie Sirrs was uncovering the creation, the organization and the training of bin Laden terrorist army, al Qaeda. She only had a short time. She collected enough information for a preliminary report and then she headed home.

The minute she got back, she was ordered not to distribute her report and limit her briefings within her own agency. The commanding officer of DIA labeled her as insubordinate, fired her, and when she fought her dismissal, he set out to destroy her.

Amidst the fight to save her job, the DIA Director complained that he was upset with Julie because she had made contact with Masoud, who, according to the DIA, was a bad guy. This general was sending his people to be briefed by the Taliban, but refused them any contact with Masoud or he would dismiss them.

Something is terribly wrong with this picture. The vitriol in the attack against Sirrs were shockingly false. Patently false charges were brought against her to overwhelm her defenses and to intimidate her and force her to go quietly.

She was charged, for example, with lying, even though the agency lie detector test proved she was telling the truth. She was charged with misusing equipment, having borrowed an office camera to take pictures of Afghanistan. She returned the camera when she got back, and she had taken valuable pictures of Northern Afghanistan.

The attacks on this sincere and responsible intelligence analyst were arrogant, nasty, malevolent and loathsome. The brutal treatment of Sirrs sent a negative message to anyone at that time in the DIA who had idea of taking the initiative or thinking creatively.

Let me just note that Julie Sirrs was fired. She was fired by a general who was in charge of the DIA, who I had come to my office. That general, General Hughes, is now, unfortunately, a high level official in our Department of Homeland Security in charge of analysis.

There are many things that we need to do, where we need to hold people accountable. General Hughes was wrong and put our country in jeopardy. These other individuals that I have mentioned tonight, their decisions were wrong, the policies were wrong. We must hold them accountable.

We are looking forward to the report by the 9/11 Commission that will be up this week to see if they name names, hold people accountable, hold policy accountable, and we will be having a further talk on this issue later on.

Julie came to me because she had no one else to whom she could turn. I was the one elected official with experience in Afghanistan. I requested a meeting with the General and right off the bat he insisted Sirrs was insubordinate. I told him that from my view she was a hero, risking her job, and her life, spending her own money, all this to get information she believed necessary for our country to be prepared if something happened in Afghanistan. After hearing each other out, I recommended to the General that we compromise. If he just gave her back her job she'd end up neither hero nor scofflaw. I'd back off and he could use political pressure from me as an excuse for reinstating her.

After the General left my office he not only reaffirmed the firing of Julie Sirrs, but later stripped her of her security clearance as well, thus eliminating her ability to earn a living as an intelligence analyst. He demonstrated how he could destroy anyone who would deviate from his program or defy his directives. ``Insubordination'' was the ultimate challenge to his authority, and reaffirming his authority, was more important than the security of the United States of America.

A few months later the General retired and all this would have been a regrettable but forgotten incident, except for the resultant 9/11 tragedy. Except for how terribly unprepared the Pentagon was for a war in Afghanistan.

It is my sad duty to report to my colleagues that the General to whom I'm referring is Lt. General Patrick Hughes, who today is one of the top officials, as Assistant Secretary for Information Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security. I am certain that over his long and distinguished career he made many contributions, but his indefensible conduct in the Sirrs case cast serious doubt over his judgment. I have notified Secretary Ridge of this side of General Hughes' character and recommended that he should not hold the high level position in the Department of Homeland Security that he does.

The Texan gets out of the truck and sticks his head in the fence.

You, Jethro, are from Texas.

Well stated saints

To add to some of what you said, it must suck to holy hell to have your ass propped up on the banquet table with an apple in your mouth with little to nothing left on your bones going on 14 years now!

Like I've said many times here before, the only way the United States military is going to accomplish all out war in Eastern Europe is if all the guys and gals are heavily medicated, have multiple traumatic brain injuries (that require medication), or  just waive the fucking "height" and aptitude scores and start enlisting or open OCS at the state mental health asylums -that is the ones that are still funded and haven't shut their doors i nthe past decade due to priority #1 moar war!

You would have to be a special kind of boy or girl at this stage and chapter of our pathetic history to still wear that uniform as I don't think the paycheck is going to quite cover the costs of the death and dismemberment policy for the wife and kids back home or the cost of living if they haven't already figured that out these last 5 years alone!

I have a buddy who is one of these special types of people. I love him to death but some of his decisions are highly questionable. He bitched and moan when we were younger about how shitty of a choice he made joining the Marines and how he was screwed on his GI bill for college. So he comes back home for a while doing what he loves which is restoring cars for folks. One day he decides this is not good enough for him. What does he do? Gets accepted in officer school and is now a full time .gov useless eater. Hardly hear from him and have not physically seen him in 7 years. The MIC got his mind locked up. His family hardly see's or hears from him and this guy was very close with his family. He just is a different person.

"."

And what I needed to finish with was that there are still a whole lot of them out there that are like him which is a very dangerous thing indeed for the rest of us considering where they will be headed next.  Especially the ones that go from enlisted to officers training that unfortunately shouldn't even be allowed to do so -but hey... We already knew General Dempsey and "coach" Odierno were the bottom of that barrel when they received the second or thrid "star"!...

For the memory hole... This one came out 7 years ago and didn't win any awards for a very good reason.  My advice is if you are lucky enough to spot your friend in the Marine Corps sit and watch this one with him as I know no one in the U.S. military who has seen it will talk about it!

And while you're at it you might want to teach him the basics of where "money" actually comes from.  Most of the active military that have served more than 4 years in the service would probably have a stroke attempting to understand Zerohedge!

You are on the right track. ISIS became a major force ONLY after the USA began a large recruitment and training program for world Jihadists. The aim was to create an Islamic Army to destroy a secular government in Syria. Large amounts of money, arms and trainers were sent to bases in Turkey and Jordan where the US trained the radical Islamists from across the globe, even 3-4 thousand Europeans. They used a cover name, "The Free  Syrian Army", the lie was told that these were moderate Syrians seeking a democratic revolt in Syria. All evidence says it was a huge army of radical Jihadists and Al-Qaeda types that the US turned into the Anti Assad force. TheSyrian Arab Army defeated this CIA force in many battles, as part of that 3 year US sponsered war in Syria, all these various Jihadists the US trained grouped together and formed ISIS, an ultra radical Islamic Army, joining forces with Sunni in Iraq, they quickly became a huge armed force.

Now the USA acts like their CIA had nothing to do with creating ISIS, when all evidence says it WAS the CIA who created this army, only using a fake name, "Free Syrian Army".

So YES, we should defund them!

Look at the areas ISIS controls or initially controlled.  Areas bordering w. Israel, Jordan or Turkey!

Can it get any more blatant?  (in case you are wondering, all of the above are the staunchest of US allies, in the region)

Yeah, it's pretty clear that ISIS got their initial support from the US, either directly or via satrapies like Saudi Arabai and Qatar (and Israel).

The big question is - are they still following orders? I get the feeling they've wandered off the reservation somewhat, decided fuck this bringng down Syria lark; too much like hard work. Let's set up a nice caliphate right here.

Which is what would happen if the leaders didn't really have control of their followers.  I.E. you can't make any unpopular choices because you will lose legitimacy+support as leader.

So the 'Caliphate' is the low-hanging fruit.  Don't confront Syria directly, don't confront Iraq directly, just kind of take what they are willing to 'give' (chunks of desert, land belonging to the other ethnic minorities, etc).

I wonder if El Baghdadi (or whatever the fuck his name is) has been playing the US from the start.

Fedguy: They tell me you've got some pull with Arab fighters who want to bring down Assad.

El Baghdadi: That's me!

Fedguy: As you know, America loves democracy! And freedom! So we'd like to uh *cough* free the citizens of Syria, groaning under Assad's evil yoke. Will you help us?

El Baghdadi: Sure, Mr CIAman, I'll bring Assad down for you! I believe in democracy, mmmm yes! But I'll need weapons, fighters, training, logistics, intelligence... and I'll also need to uh *cough* pretend to hate the US and be like fully Wahhabbed up, so I can attract the biggest, baddest jihadis. So we may need to be a bit uh *cough* Islamic in our methods.

Fedguy: Islamic? What, only kill people after due process?

Fedguy & El Baghdadi: *laugh heartily*

El Baghdadi, wiping away tears of laughter: But no matter what happens, don't you worry! It will all be part of the larger plan to bring Assad down. Yessir!

Fedguy: So we have an understanding?

El Baghdadi: Oh yes we do!

Fedguy: Whaddaya need?

El Baghdadi: Lots and lots of Toyota Landcruisers! And no airstrikes when we're rolling across hundreds of miles of desert on our way across Iraq!

Fedguy: Sure. What else?

El Baghdadi: On the morning of our advance - the one you won't hit with airstrikes, remember - I want all the government soldiers to wake up and discover that the entire officer corps has fled! No command and control! So we can seize the bases and all those lovely Abrams.

Fedguy: Sure. What else?

El Baghdadi: Obviously no airstrikes on all that armour. Keynes be damned!

etc.

Remember how ISIL got into Syria in the first place?

The FSA THREATENED that if the West did not provide a no-fly zone, and air strikes against Syrian govt forces, ASAP, that the FSA would INVITE in Al Qaeda, instead!

Who has the US been backing, today, against Asad?

Only the FSA.

Who has the US been backing against the resulting US-armed ISIL?

Only the Kurdish Peshmerga.

Take 6,500 Marines and 1,500 Army soldiers.

Break some eggs by killing as many civilians as possible.

Add a hefty dose of white phosphorous as a levying agent, and mix with depleted uranium for taste.

Bake for 6 weeks.

You now have a perfect batch of pissed off homeless and wounded people to feed into the the insurgency, assuring more power and wealth to the MIC.
