Stunning Terrorism Statistics that Nobody Wants You to Know

George Washington's picture

Experts say that  terrorists are strongly motivated –  for two reasons – to exaggerate their abilities to inflict damage:

(1)  Terrorism is defined as “the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims”.  So terrorists exaggerate their destructive abilities in order to increase intimidation and push their aims

and

(2) The more damage people believe that a terrorist group has inflicted, the more donations and funding they will receive from radical extremists.  Specifically, radicals are more likely to fund terrorists who are “effective” in inflicting damage than those who can’t pull off murder and mayhem

So terrorists want to exaggerate how much damage they've actually inflicted.

Likewise, the type of counter-terror experts who frequently appear on the mainstream news are motivated to hype the terror threat, because it drums up business  for them.

The more scared of terrorism people are, the more books they’ll sell on terrorism, the more people will pay them to give talks on terrorism, and the more they’ll be asked to appear on mainstream news.  So they don’t want you to know the real statistics on terror, either.

And the government has also exaggerated the threat of terrorism for political purposes  (literally seeing a terrorist under every bush).   For example, FBI agents and CIA intelligence officials, a top constitutional and military law expert, Time magazine, the Washington Post and others have all said that U.S. government officials “were trying to create an atmosphere of fear in which the American people would give them more power”.  Indeed, the former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge admitted that he was pressured to raise terror alerts to help Bush win reelection.  The threat from Islamic terrorists – while real – has been greatly exaggerated. Former U.S. National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski – also a top foreign policy advisor to President Obama – told the Senate that the war on terror is a “a mythical historical narrative”.

Indeed, the government justifies its geopolitical goals – including seizing more power at home, and overthrowing Syria in 1949, Iran in 1953, Iraq twice, Afghanistan twice, Turkey, Libya, and other oil-rich countries – by hyping the terror menace.   So the government wants you to be scared out of your pants by the risk of terrorism.

So what are the real terrorism facts?

The actual statistics are stunning:

  • Daniel Benjamin – the Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the United States Department of State from 2009 to 2012 – notes today (at 10:22):

"The total number of deaths from terrorism in recent years has been extremely small in the West.  And the threat itself has been considerably reduced. Given all the headlines people don’t have that perception; but if you look at the statistics that is the case."

  • Non-Muslims also carried out the vast majority of terrorist attacks in Europe as well

While terrorists, counter-terror “experts” and governments are trying to scare the pants off you, the truth is that – if we refuse to be terrorized – we win and the terrorists lose.

The sheeple are trained to emote, not think, to certain words. Terror,Nazi, extremist, Allah, Muslim, right-wing, left-wing, government, Russia, Israel, Iran, North Korea, war, or whatever.

Emote rather than think. Buy the proffered snake oil for the cure. Trust trumps thinking, in the short term.

The State Department was informed about the underwear bomber by his own father. Their representative admitted in Congressional hearings that they let him keep his visa so they could see what he would do. After he tried to blow up the plane as expected DHS rolled out the naked scanners which had been sitting in warehouses ready to go. Sounds like the government does act on terrorist information to their own advantage rather well.

And Reid led to this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Reid#Changes_in_airline_security_pr...

As a result of these events, airlines required passengers departing from an airport in the United States to pass through airport security in socks or bare feet while their shoes are scanned for bombs.[28] Scanners do not find PETN in shoes or strapped to a person. A chemical test is needed.[29]However, even if the X-ray scanners cannot detect all explosives, it is an effective way to see if the shoe has been altered to hold a bomb.[30]

Never, ever, let a crisis go to waste. The fact they don't strip search every single passenger, by now, surprises me.

GW's articles are not well thought out and his "sourcing" suffers from selection bias.  I've debunked GW many times in the past and he knows it.  Gets tiring.  It's easy to source a narrative when someone else frames it and you ignore any contrary viewpoints or information.  Sort of like articles that tout global warming and the theory of evolution, neither of which has any empirical validation whatsoever.

GW is a narcissist, which is why he so frequently intervenes to defend his own posts, rather than riding the merits of what he cobbles together.

The burden is on GW to substantiate what he says with something other than hearsay and "experts".  Light-minded Kool-Aid drinkers have a habit of wanting to shift that burden, but I yawn at the prospect.

Party on, Jethro.

Is this resonating to you? Again...

Nazi Germany's War On Terrorism

Hitler used the 1933 burning of the Reichstag (Parliament) building by a deranged Dutchman to declare a “war on terrorism,” establish his legitimacy as a leader (even though he hadn’t won a majority in the previous election).

“You are now witnessing the beginning of a great epoch in history,” he proclaimed, standing in front of the burned-out building, surrounded by national media. “This fire,” he said, his voice trembling with emotion, “is the beginning.” He used the occasion – “a sign from God,” he called it – to declare an all-out war on terrorism and its ideological sponsors, a people, he said, who traced their origins to the Middle East and found motivation for their “evil” deeds in their religion.

Two weeks later, the first prison for terrorists was built in Oranianberg, holding the first suspected allies of the infamous terrorist. In a national outburst of patriotism, the nation’s flag was everywhere, even printed in newspapers suitable for display.

Within four weeks of the terrorist attack, the nation’s now-popular leader had pushed through legislation, in the name of combating terrorism and fighting the philosophy he said spawned it, that suspended constitutional guarantees of free speech, privacy, and habeas corpus. Police could now intercept mail and wiretap phones; suspected terrorists could be imprisoned without specific charges and without access to their lawyers; police could sneak into people’s homes without warrants if the cases involved terrorism.

To get his patriotic “Decree on the Protection of People and State” passed over the objections of concerned legislators and civil libertarians, he agreed to put a 4-year sunset provision on it: if the national emergency provoked by the terrorist attack on the Reichstag building was over by then, the freedoms and rights would be returned to the people, and the police agencies would be re-restrained.

Within the first months after that terrorist attack, at the suggestion of a political advisor, he brought a formerly obscure word into common usage. Instead of referring to the nation by its name, he began to refer to it as The Fatherland. As hoped, people’s hearts swelled with pride, and the beginning of an us-versus-them mentality was sewn. Our land was “the” homeland, citizens thought: all others were simply foreign lands.

Within a year of the terrorist attack, Hitler’s advisors determined that the various local police and federal agencies around the nation were lacking the clear communication and overall coordinated administration necessary to deal with the terrorist threat facing the nation, including those citizens who were of Middle Eastern ancestry and thus probably terrorist sympathizers. He proposed a single new national agency to protect the security of the Fatherland, consolidating the actions of dozens of previously independent police, border, and investigative agencies under a single powerful leader.

Most Americans remember his Office of Fatherland Security, known as the Reichssicherheitshauptamt and Schutzstaffel, simply by its most famous agency’s initials: the SS.

And, perhaps most important, he invited his supporters in industry into the halls of government to help build his new detention camps, his new military, and his new empire which was to herald a thousand years of peace. Industry and government worked hand-in-glove, in a new type of pseudo-democracy first proposed by Mussolini and sustained by war.

- Financial Control, Globally
- Control of Currency & Domestic Investment
- Massive Federal Spending, Exponentially Growing
- Zaibatsu or Kiretsu Type Support of Largest "National" Corporations, Chaebol

- Zero Money Velocity, Low Wages, Low demand for Labor = Loyalty to the Fatherland & to Corporate Executives

- Zero Money Velocity, Low Wages, Low demand for Labor = few Whistleblowers

- Zero Money Velocity, Low Wages, Low demand for Labor = No Free Press, No Free Speech outside of Fatherland Media

There is a book titled "Merchants of Fear", that is definitely worth checking out. It is a modern look at this whole phenomena of fear mongering the crowd.

One has to appreciate that while current events do not precisely overlap with WWII period fascism, the same elements are all there. And while there is no specific demagogue like Hitler whom we can point to (yet), the demagoguery tool kit is alive and well.

Most people forget that false flag "Islamic" terrorism started in Russia with the blowing up of two apartment towers, killing 240 people, a full year before the 9/11 crime.

The mass murders were authorised at the highest level of the FSB and served to justify starting a full scale military assault on Chechnia. The FSB was forced to admit responsibility for a third bombing, that failed, calling it an "exercise".

not sure this is even the first but any person who does not know of the bombing of the king david hotel in then palestine by, among others, menachem begin, later prime minister of israel, while trying to blame it on arabs, needs to. (from wiki):

The King David Hotel bombing was an attack carried out on Monday July 22, 1946 by the militant Zionist underground organization, the Irgun, on the British military and administrative headquarters for Palestine, which was housed in the southern wing[1] of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.[2][3][4] 91 people of various nationalities were killed and 46 were injured.[5]

The hotel was the site of the central offices of the British Mandatory authorities of Palestine, principally the Secretariat of the Government of Palestine and the Headquarters of the British Armed Forces in Palestine and Transjordan.[5][6] The attack initially had the approval of the Haganah (the principal Jewish paramilitary group in Palestine). It was conceived as a response to Operation Agatha (a series of widespread raids, including one on the Jewish Agency, conducted by the British authorities) and was the deadliest directed at the British during the Mandate era (1920–1948).[5][6] The explosion caused more casualties than any subsequent bombing carried out in the Arab-Israeli conflict.[7]

Disguised as Arabs, [8]the Irgun planted a bomb in the basement of the main building of the hotel, whose southern wing[9] housed the Mandate Secretariat and a few offices of the British military headquarters.

Kind, generous well-intended God-fearing righteous peaceful people who just happen to want to turn the planet into an Islamic version of an overflowing fetid sewer in the sixth level of Hell, where humanity acts as the impromptu toilet paper.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

"Indeed, the former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge admitted that he was pressured to raise terror alerts to help Bush win reelection."

So I expect he's since been convicted and is spending time in a Govt prison complex, and the DHS is going to be closed down as a completely fraudulent wast of public time and money?

"... the truth is that – if we refuse to be terrorized – we win and the terrorists lose. ..."

It would greatly assist Arab culture and Islamic countries in general, if they were not such easy targets for that label. Psycho-preachers openly pumping hate of the West and threats of violence, execution of Christians and others for no reason other than they exist at all, public be-headings and extraordinary floggings for merely writing a viewpoint that the majority-cunt-freaks can't abide. The staggering yawning-maw of trenchant insecurity about their alleged God, alleged Profit and alleged Religion, to the extent that they react en-mass to imagined slights or even actual direct insults, with hot-headed violence and suicide vests as well as acid in women's faces by complete losers, based on nothing more than rumors or refusal to marry, 'honor'-murders, and this weird deviate hangup about fucking virgins in heaven.

Very, very easy targets.

In fact you generally wouldn't have to embellish the truth at all about Islam in the MENA, and its abysmal associated cultural mental-illnesses, as the plain facts of their barbarous behavior and injustices would turn off most people rather quickly. Recent events are really just the icing on an already extravagant and flagrant Islamic cake.

it all depends on where you start and where you finish.

were it up to the christian world, nearly all the accomplishments of ancient greece and rome would have been lost in the middle ages.  since it wasn't up to the christians, entirely, much of this heritage was preserved in the muslim countries, to be rediscovered during the crusades and later trade.  not to mention the further advances, including the invention of zero and considerable higher mathematics and astronomy that the muslim world added to the classical foundation while wolves roamed the streets of paris.

while the protestants and catholics piled each others heads outside the gates of most cities in germany and surrounding areas during the thirty years war, the muslim world, particularly the ottoman empire, viewed the west with what islam expert bernard lewis, in his book islam and the west, calls "amused disdain" for its inferior culture and religion.

when much of the world was locked into the unparalleled carnage of world war two, muslims mostly chose not to participate.  their reward for this was to have the nation of israel forced upon them to make up for the evils of the nazis for which they bore no responsibility.

as for a "deviate hangup", the u.s. has a pretty high score for homicide, child molestation, violence against women, incarceration, death row population, universal sexualization and pornography, utter governmental corruption, oh and bombing and shooting people in far away countries while overthrowing their governments (pretty much number one there).

You mean like this violence? Concerning the arrest of 2 British SAS soldiers dressed as Arabs and caught red handed driving a car boobey trapped with explosives - a car bomb - in Mosul Iraq.

"this incident gave answers to questions and suspicions that were lacking evidence about the participation of the occupation in some armed operations in Iraq. Many analysts and observers here had suspicions that the occupation was involved in some armed operations against civilians and places of worship and in the killing of scientists. But those were only suspicions that lacked proof. The proof came today through the arrest of the two British soldiers while they were planting explosives in one of the Basra streets. This proves, according to observers, that the occupation is not far from many operations that seek to sow sedition and maintain disorder, as this would give the occupation the justification to stay in Iraq for a longer period."

So just WHO is sowing seeds of hatred and fomenting extreme violence?

We are.
