Tyler Durden's picture

As Putin arrives at the Minsk Summit, his Deputy Foreign Minister makes the Russian position clear to Washington:

  • *U.S. ARMS SUPPLIES TO UKRAINE WILL HAVE DRAMATIC OUTCOME: IFX
  • *RUSSIA WILL NOT IGNORE U.S. ARMS SUPPLIES TO UKRAINE: IFX

Hardly what Merkel or Hollande wants to hear?

As Interfax reports,

  • U.S. LETHAL WEAPONS SUPPLIES TO EAST UKRAINE WILL HAVE DRAMATIC CONSEQUENCES, RUSSIA WON'T BE ABLE TO STAY ASIDE - RYABKOV
  • CHIZHOV: U.S. IS ARTIFICIALLY SUPPORTING DEBATE IN EUROPE ON SUPPLY OF WEAPONS TO UKRAINE
  • CHIZHOV: EUROPE UNDERSTANDS THAT SUPPLY OF WEAPONS TO UKRAINE WILL INCREASE RISK OF DIRECT INVOLVEMENT OF RUSSIA

And finally Poroshenko adds,

  • POROSHENKO: SITUATION WILL GET OUT OF CONTROL IF AGREEMENT ON DE-ESCALATION OF SITUATION IN DONBAS IS NOT REACHED IN MINSK

Not surprising.  The US officer corps is very political in nature.  That's why the best people seldom make it to the top.  Much like corporate culture, the sociopaths, connivers, and ass kissers thrive in the military command.

More shallow attempts at offuscation.

Admittedly, the inequality in forces between US propaganda and facts is such that one feels unfairness in this.

Without guns to back up their speech, US propagandists are weak and easily crushed.

I FUCKING LOVE POROCHENKO.

HE'S SO SMART. JUST GETTING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO KILL HIS OWN COUNTRYMEN AND KEEPS PLAYING THE SOVIETS OFF THE AMERICANS.

HE KNOWS EXACTLY THAT UKAINE IS TOTALLY ASSFUCKED AND THERE IS NOTHING TO DO BUT SIT ON YOUR HANDS.

many many more people in east ukraine would be dead if he really wanted them killed.

by now, a total genocide could be happening. he doens't want to. he doens't need to. and he doesn't fucking care to do anything but make the superpowers ripping apart his country waste as much of their time and money getting as little as possible done.

this is his best strategy and granted that he's obviously working for the westerners, he really has little strategic choice. so in many ways, he is both following orders and being an obstructionist while doing it. intentionally doing a horrible job while intentionally saying stupid lies that he knows will be recognized as such ---

when porochenko says 'russia is invading the country ' and he knows that he cannot prove russian tank columns are in the country he's VERY SMART. he's intentionally playing the fool ( this is asside from the fact that both nato and russian mercs are in the country under cover that is not easily proven)

playing dumb, like playing dead is a strategy we see in nature. and it is also a very smart strategy we humans play sometimes.

porochenko is a lot smarter than people think.

GEORGIAN LAWMAKERS SAYS SAAKASHVILI’S APPOINTMENT AS UKRAINIAN PRESIDENTIAL ADVISOR WRONG

http://www.blacklistednews.com/Georgian_lawmakers_says_Saakashvili’s_appointment_as_Ukrainian_presidential_advisor_wrong/41749/0/38/38/Y/M.html

Saakashvili’s appointment as Ukrainian presidential advisor was a mistake, a senior Georgian lawmaker said on Wednesday.

Eka Beselia, a leader of the Georgian Dream coalition, head of the Human Rights Committee of the Georgian parliament, said that the Ukrainian authorities’ decision to appoint [Georgia’s former President] Mikheil Saakashvili as chairman of the Board of Advisors for International Affairs under the President of Ukraine was a mistake.

"Georgia has an especially warm and friendly attitude to the Ukrainian people and Ukraine. I don’t know what reasonable advice Mikhail Saakashvili can give to this country’s president," she said, commenting on the Ukrainian media reports about Saakashvili’s appointment.

"Political tastes differ," Georgian parliament’s vice speaker Zurab Abashidze said for his part. "If I were the Ukrainian president, I would not want to have Mikheil Saakashvili as an advisor."

In December 2014, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said that in 2015 he would pay a visit to Kiev to discuss bilateral cooperation issues with Ukraine’s leadership. He also said then that in Kiev he wasn't going to meet with the former Georgian officials - members of the current government of Ukraine. And in March last year, the Georgian prime minister advised "the current government of Ukraine not to listen to Saakashvili’s advice." "Having in this crisis situation such an adventurer for an advisor is fraught with disastrous consequences for Ukraine," he said.??

There will be no peace deal. Putin has Crimea, now he needs Kiev to complete the unification for the Russian Orthodox Church.  Once he rallies the support from the Orthodox Church he will really begin his plans.  Same game plan as Hitler.  He needs his people to follow him blindly for the things that are to come in the near future.  Taking back their religious heartland will do the trick.  Once he has Kiev and Crimea he will move on the next former Soviet state in line.

Targeting gays, minorities, creating foreign enemies, all to rally his people behind him.  Look how his popularity soared after taking Crimea, one of the two most important locations to the Orthodox religion.  Wait and see how it soars when he takes Kiev.  Stand back and mock if you will, it doesn't matter to me what another nobody thinks of this nobody.  Why do you believe he is doing these things, just for the fun of it?

Hi Stoogie,

Putin himself would angrily reject the comparison to Hitler but would welcome any reference to similarities between himself and Great Stalin.

Peersonally, I have no objection to Russian claims in the Donets Basin provided they FIRST honor the claims of others such as the Finns and Germans to lands currently held by Russia to which it has no right apart from that of conquest and forced colonization.

How about you? Should Russia restore the stolen lands of the Finns and East Prussia-- the actual heart of the original German state? Surely this would be fair to everyone and would relieve the anxieties felt by many on the Russian border that we are indeed seeing a replay of Munich. I mean, seriously, Russia is basing its claims on historical and spiritual factors. It should respect the same emotions that others feel with regard to the land it has taken away from them, right?

Honor the Russian claims simultanously with Russia honoring the claims of others. Sound fair?

This is Yugoslavia all over again. Back then Europe tried to prevent a civil war in Bosnia and had an agreement on the table that was about to be signed by everybody. Comes along the US and goes and tell Sarajevo "go ahead and declare independence, we will support you" and KABOOOOOOOM.

America violated the arms embargo and prolonged the war. And then came the Dayton agreement which was almost a copy of the European agreement.

Europe is trying to avoid a similar outcome in Ukraine but America wants to show Europe once again who is boss on the continent, "fuck the EU" and all.

Ukrainian Government: “No Russian Troops Are Fighting Against Us”. Sanctions against Russia based on Falsehoods

Ukraine’s top general is contradicting allegations by the Obama Administration and by his own Ukrainian Government, by saying that no Russian troops are fighting against the Ukrainian Government’s forces in the formerly Ukrainian, but now separatist, area, where the Ukrainian civil war is being waged.

Here is a screen-print of a google-chrome auto-translation of that statement:

Ukraine Chief of Staff is explicitly and clearly denying the very basis for the EU’s sanctions against Russia, and for the U.S.’s sanctions against Russia: all of the sanctions against Russia are based on the falsehood that Ukraine is fighting against “the regular units of the Russian army”

If you strip away all the political veneer, what you HAVE is basically a world power sized nation reacting to turmoil in a former part of its state by securing a region of important strategic significance to it.

Unless anyone can come up with a reason the leader of a nation WOULDN'T do this, then your argument is a political one which means you are biased.

The only appropriate reaction from us would have been to express our concern, acknowledge the reality of Crimea's historical importance to Russia, and state our hopes that a peaceful resolution can be reached by the parties concerned.
Then you throw in your little, "We'll be watching the situation.." just to remind everyone that you CAN get involved if you have to.

Because THAT is the reality of the situation...it isn't about an evil Putin rolling his tanks across Europe. You'll note that Russia stopped at Crimea, they didn't annex the entire Ukraine. Just the area they were worried about. And in all fairness, the man had every REASON to have been concerned. If Cuba had descended into chaos, and Russians were getting involved, we'd protect our interests in Guantanomo without asking anyone's permission, and we'd be right.

In this case, the Russians are right. And we blew it with our response.

Since Russia bases its lust for the Crimea and Eastern Ukraine on historical and spiritual factors, does this mean it is in favor of restoring East Prussia to Germany? After all, Konigberg is the actual seed of the German nation and surely it should revert to them on the same basis of historical and spiritual affinity.

Is Russia in favor of returning stolen Karelia and Petsamo to Finland?

Are YOU in favor of restoring these lands to their rightful owners?

Wed, 02/11/2015 - 17:59 | 5773226 Bemused Observer
Bemused Observer's picture

That's another irrational and useless response. The use of extreme examples to justify an inappropriate response is silly. One can respect Russia's OBVIOUS interests in Crimea without relocating the entire global population or redrawing everyone's borders...
And how far would you like to go back? Are you SURE that Karelia and Petsamo actually BELONG to Finland? Or that Finland actually belongs to Finland? I'm pretty sure that the first humans who lived there didn't look ANYTHING like the folks there now.
Just because we can't restore the world to 'factory condition', it doesn't mean we can't make periodic adjustments when needed. In the case of a nuclear Russia moving to secure a strategic region in a collapsing neighboring country they have long-standing interests in, I'd say there was a need for the adjustment.

It's a silly argument, tarabel. Do better.

Obama should have sent in the A-10 tank killers at the outset and we wouldn't be having this situation. It is the one military system that the Russians are terrified of, which is why Obama wants to discontinue it.

So now Putin has the full measure of Obama, knowing he won't do anything that might get the US and Russia into a full scale war.  Like Neville Chamberlain, Obama has now guaranteed future Russian aggression. Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.

But hey, Russia just wanted its land back it generously let Ukraine use during the Soviet days.  ;-)

Never, ever show a bully fear, just as in the wild it invites attack. Only the naive walk in front of an on coming bus expecting it to stop.  To all you who live in the cities, I pity you, but take heart, you won't experience any pain when the light instantly flashes bright.  Putin smells Obama's fear.

Reading over the avalanche of efforts by frantic Russian admirers on this thread, it is pretty easy to see what they fear the most. American guns. Shows that they're smart.

Now unleash the mighty phalanx of red arrows. Attack away.

Russian Troops Move To Border As Catastrophic Ukrainian Army Defeat Looms

A new Ministry of Defense (MoD) report circulating in the Kremlin today ahead of the last chance” peace talks on the Ukrainian crisis, scheduled later today in the Belarusian capitol of Minsk, states that President Putin has ordered the 45th Detached Reconnaissance Regiment and the 5th Tank Brigade to immediately deploy on the border as Ukraine forces are nearing a “catastrophic defeat” at the hands of separatist rebel forces.

The 5th Tank Brigade of the 36th Army of the Eastern Military Command, military unit 46108, this report notes, was permanently transferred from Eastern Siberia and the Far East to the Ukrainian border this past November, while about 2,000 Russian reconnaissance troops have, likewise, began large-scale exercises in the same area.

This report further notes that these military forces, in preparation and during conducting of combined-arms operations (combat actions), have been ordered to perform the following tasks:

Excellent analogy . . . . . it's too bad that few people in the USA can view things properly when the shoe is on the other foot.

How would the USA react if a hostile communist government held a coup in Canada and Ontario tried to resist by force of arms? The USA sure as hell would be supplying weapons and other military support - probably direct troop involvement.  Most likely much greater in scope than anything that Russia has done to support the people in eastern Ukraine.

A false flag in the Battle of Donbas wouldn't be a false flag.  It would be the start of WWIII.

I think the next false flag will be a tactical nuclear device aimed at a staunch ally of the US, like UK, Canada, Australia, etc, delivered from an Israeli submarine.

Until now false flags have been piddling affairs, murdering under a thousand innocents
