The following video of LAPD officers gunning down a homeless man in broad daylight is rightly getting a lot of attention. It’s not as if it was one officer dealing with a dangerous situation who panicked. There was a mob of police officers surrounding the victim, and rather than dealing with the situation like courageous, decent adults, they went ahead and treated the man like target practice.
As we see with oligarch theft, this is the sort of thing you can expect more of when certain above-the-law groups in society fail to be held accountable for their actions.

2. If he grabbed the gun, meaning grabbed the holster, as it is very, very, very, VERY difficult to actually remove the gun from the holster due to retention straps, five enforcers should have no problem breaking his arm to remove his hand from the holster.

There are two stories here. One is the mentally ill homeless and the other is the vigilante police since 911.
In the 1980s, I was on a project where I had to visit Skid Row in Los Angeles, where the skid row street is Wall Street, that is its actual name. When I returned I told the director of the program that I had expected to go there and have a sense of things wrong with society, but I came back feeling that there was something wrong with these people, She said, "Oh there is. They are mentally ill." She proceeded to tell me that the Reagan Adminstration had closed down publicly supported mental institutions and the patients were released to the streets with $125 in cash. In today's environment, the US Government can spend $6 trillion dollars on bogus foreign wars, but does not have anything for the needs of the citizens of the country.

There was a time when the presence of a gun alone was not justification to shoot, when the subject holding the gun was not enough to shoot, when the subject had to be using a gun for it to be a clean shoot.
I didn't see any of that in this video.
A big divide between people is this: When the police act correctly according to policy, but incorrectly with regard to supporting public peace and order, is the action correct or incorrect?
I see below many saying "The suspect had a gun. Therefore it was a clean shoot."
Do we know he had a gun? We know someone SAID he had a gun, and that's all we know at this point. Would have been nice if the videographer here had seen it.
My answer is that when an activity is a detriment to the peace, it is wrong whether or not it is policy.

cjt, I believe a law outlawing taping of any law enforcement officer while performing his duties just passed in the State of Illinois. I heard something to that effect on the radio. It may have been signed into law or vetoed. I know there are states considering banning citizen videos of poliice actions. In 2013 alone the City of Chicago paid out just over 110 million dollars in settlements to citizens claiming police brutality or mistreatment. One year of settlements. i wonder who carries the liablity insurance for the City? must be a helluva premium payment. If you resist a group of police who outnumber you 6 to one unless you are armed and willing to kill them you will always lose that fight.
I help feeding the homeless and street people. I recently gave a man a ride who had had a dispute with some upstairs tenants in his two flat. The police decided that he needed to spend the night somewhere else because they didnt want to come back if the situation escalated again later that night. They did not arrest him but in essence evicted him for one night from the residence where his rent was paid on time and current. When this man returened to his apartment everything was gone/stolen. The police have no right to kick you out of your own house. Um,,, secure in our residence, belongings ah hell. We are witnessing the fall of the Empire. It is cracked and crumblling. I used to think it was fixable. i hear stories like this frequently from the urban outdoorsman we help out.
Good thing Californian's voluntarily gave up their guns. People are so much safer now.
