Conspiracy Theorists, Bloggers Compared To ISIS During Congressional Hearing

Bloggers, conspiracy theorists and people who challenge establishment narratives on the Internet were all likened to ISIS terrorists during a chilling Congressional hearing which took place yesterday.
The hearing, hosted by the House Foreign Relations Committee, was titled “Confronting Russia’s Weaponization of Information,” and accused Russian state broadcaster RT of weaponizing “conspiracy theories” to spread propaganda.
One of the speakers giving testimony was former RT host Liz Wahl, who made a public spectacle of quitting Russian state media last year in an incident stage-managed by neo-con James Kirchick, himself a former employee of Radio Free Europe – a state media outlet.
Remarking that the Internet provided a platform for “fringe voices and extremists,” Wahl characterized people who challenge establishment narratives as a “cult”.
“They mobilize and they feel they’re part of some enlightened fight against the establishment….they find a platform to voice their deranged views,” said Wahl.
Referring to comments made in January by US Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) chief Andrew Lack, who characterized RT as a threat on the same level as ISIS and Boko Haram, Wahl said the comparison was justified.
“By using the Internet to mobilize people that feel displaced, that feel like they’ve been on the outskirts of society, and give them a place where they can find a sense of belonging, and maybe make a difference in their own way, and it’s a problem,” she said.
Wahl went on to bemoan the fact that conspiracy theorists were “shaping the discussion online, on message boards, on Twitter, on social media,” before asserting that the web had become a beacon of “disinformation, false theories, people that are just trying to make a name for themselves, bloggers or whatever, that have absolutely no accountability for the truth, that are able to rile up a mass amount of people online.”
Committee Chairman Ed Royce then proceeded to accuse people on YouTube of using “raw violence” to advance conspiracy theories.
Peter Pomerantsev, of the London-based Legatum Institute, followed up by claiming that conspiracy theories were no longer “fringe” and were now driving the success of Jean-Marie Le Pen in France, before lamenting the fact that conspiracy theories were challenging the “global order” and threatening to undermine global institutions.
All three individuals that gave testimony are staunch critics of Russia, leading Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) to wish “we had at least one other person to balance out this in a way that perhaps could’ve compared our system to the Russian system, to find out where that truth is, just how bad that is.”
Beyond the inflammatory rhetoric, the real story revolves around the fact that Washington was caught off guard by the rapid growth of RT, with Hillary Clinton and others having acknowledged the fact that the U.S. is “losing the information war,” which is why they are now desperately trying to denigrate the Russian broadcaster.
Without a doubt, RT puts out pro-Russian propaganda, but it also broadcasts truths about geopolitics and U.S. foreign policy that Americans will never see on mainstream corporate networks, precisely because those networks are also engaged in propaganda.
There’s no mystery behind why RT has become so big – telling the truth is popular – but because Washington finds it impossible to compete on that basis, it has been forced to resort to ad hominem attacks and ludicrous comparisons to ISIS in a desperate bid to level the playing field.
As linguist Noam Chomsky said, “The idea that there should be a network reaching people, which does not repeat the US propaganda system, is intolerable” to the US establishment.

So there has to be an element of truth in all of this. This is the very reason why they are acting like this. Remember they also accused Snowden of being a terrorist and they did want to kill him. Oh and yes its true the police are listening to all of us and arming themselves with military weapons. So why are the politicians so afraid of us like they were of Snodwen?

The funny thing about the truth is , that it doesn't need a lot to defend itself, its like porn, when you see the truth you instantly just recognize it for what it is.
The problem the U.S. govt has is, for a long time it controlled the narrative through propaganda, Hollywood , tv , radio and major media publications, and now with the internet you are not limited to one controlled media conglomerates point of view.
Other peoples blogs and research become relevant because on the internet you can state your version of the facts and readers have the freedom to weigh those facts vs the stated facts of the govt and corporate media outlets. . . and come to their own determinations.
When most of the population is poor/slipping into poverty and they see that everyone in government and banking is growing richer and laws are being passed to grant bailouts to banks while they simultaneously raise taxes on you and help banks foreclose on you after you just essentially saved these banks from insolvency . . . it doesn't
take a rocket scientists to put two and two together to see that banks and government are colluding against you to rob you/impoverish you.
The truth of the matter is, that the truth is not something the government can dictate to you anymore, the truth has just become what it always really was . . . a statement of facts. . . the internet has made it impossible for government to hide the truth. . . and that scares them . . . so they get on tv and try and control the narrative.
They know they can't stop people from saying anything anymore, so they have to discredit whatever is being said and deny any allegations of collusion/corruption/fraud/etc. . . and when someone brings it up they call them a "conspiracy theorist" or use another ad hominem attack against theim or their character, they cant argue the facts so they try and assasinate the character of the person, or the actual person themselves (hence the popular suicide death by nailgun routine).
Let me ask you this, is it a conspiracy theory that :
1) Hillary Clinton erases emails? (this is a fact)
2) Hillary Clinton is probably guilty of war crimes and suppressing evidence (this is a fact)
3) That her husband bill Clinton frequented the private island of one Mr. Epstein where he kept under-age sex slaves/prostites (this is a fact)
4) That the government is trying to ban guns and dis-arm Americans, while simultaneously training DHS/Para-Military and Military agencies to go door to door siezing weapons and conducting such drills (Jade Helm) (this is a fact)
5) That the government continues to support bailouts and money laundering to big banks and fraudulent counterfeiting money creation from the central bank (this is a fact)
6) That the government continues to promote policies that benefit Wall-Street at the expense of Main Street (this is a fact)
7) That the affordable health care act (obama care) has raised the cost of health insurance for the majority of Americans and has pushed more people out of plans than into them AND has FINED with penalties Americans for being too poor to afford Health Care (this is a fact)
8) That Eric Holder ran guns illegally to cartels , guns that were then used to attack and murder innocent Americans/Border Agents and he escaped from justice WHILE DISOBEYING A COURT SUMMENS , something you would be arrested at gun point for ! (this is a fact)
9) That the government has created most of the terrorist organizations we are now fighting (al qaeda and ISIS) and funded these organizations to de-stabalize the entire middle east (this is a fact)
10) That Obama has spent more time playing golf than actually doing anything presidential (this is a fact)
11) That the Obama family has probably taken more vacations in one year than most Americans can ever hope to afford in multiple life times (this is a fact)
12) That obama spends millions just for a hotel room everytime he goes someplace. . . while other world leaders stay in cheap motels (this is a fact)

If Voting's Not The Answer, What Is?
Voting is the answer! But ONLY if we make the following changes in the system first:
1. Get all private money out of the election process and set up a system where candidates are provided an appropriate amount of campaign funds from the local, state or federal government that has jurisdiction in the election. Radio and TV airtime would be doled out on an equal basis to each vested candidate and would be provided free as part of the radio, TV or cable outlet's FCC license - no airtime, no license. Also, no "independent" political ads would be allowed in print, radio or on TV. All ads must be originated with the candidate's organization using the allotted airtime.
2. Term limits for all state and federal elected officials. For the feds I would like to see 12 years max for the senate and 8 years for the house, period. Ideally, I would like to see the senate go back to being selected by each State's legislature like it was before the 19th (??) amendment to the US Constitution.
3. Make it illegal to take a job in the private sector for a minimum of five years after leaving office if that job position has any relationship with the legislation that the person leaving office had a hand in or was part of being enacted. Same thing with lobbying - no elected official could be allowed to work as a lobbyist for a minimum of five years after leaving office.
4. Other than the campaign funding issue probably most important is the method of balloting used. All votes must be counted on PAPER BALLOTS - no computer driven or any other type of electronic balloting systems would be allowed. Every vote would have to be prepared on a paper ballot, preferably those that do not use the punch card type technology (anyone remember what happened with the punch ballots in the 2000 presidential election in Florida???).
If we somehow could force these four changes through, especially at the federal level, then things likely would change drastically in the USA. Sadly, aliens will land at the 50 yard line of the Superbowl at half-time before these kind of changes would ever be made . . .
Great ideas. I would modify 3's stipulation that the minimum moratorium should be 5 years but could also be 5 years from the time a law's provisions are enacted. I agree 100%. What we need to work on is a way of getting these changes made in our lifetimes. A start would be to get a law allowing referendums passed at the federal level. Unfortunately that would be as hard, or harder, than getting any of my suggestions made at that level.
Maybe if someone could help by putting together a slick video with ideas like these to try to get it to go viral on YouTube that would help in getting support around the country. We need to do something to push for changes in the electoral process or we are (more) doomed . . . . .
