Humans Score Rare Victory Over Machines As Colorado Man Executes Computer In Alley
Last year, courtesy of Michael Lewis, the entire world was alerted to what we have known for more than five years: the market is rigged. For those willing to pay attention to such things, reminders (sometimes subtle, sometimes not-so-subtle) are everywhere that our financial “markets” are no longer “markets” at all, rather, they are casinos where the house always, always wins and where the ill effects of pervasive algo battles are exacerbated by the enslavement of government bond markets by DM central banks. For those who haven’t seen what we have dubbed “the most laughed at chart in all of finance,” behold the graphical representation of “the house always wins” from Virtu’s S-1:
While we bemoan the loss of our beloved markets to the machines, and while we watch helplessly as the algos, vacuum tubes, and Terminator T-800s “roil” the E-Mini and panic-buy TSLA on April Fool’s day, we got a glimmer of hope earlier this week when China’s day trading housewives scored a rare victory in the war against the machines as the sheer number of new Chinese traders overwhelmed the software that tracks volume on the Shanghai exchange. Today we discovered that, for the first time since Skynet commandeered both the market and the US regulatory regime, humans have taken back the momentum, winning a second victory over the machines in the space of 48 hours.
Here’s more via the Colorado Springs Gazette:
When ctrl + alt + delete doesn't work, just shoot the darn thing.
That's what one man did on Monday night, according to Colorado Springs police. Lucas Hinch, 37, was cited for discharging a weapon within city limits after he took the fight with his computer outside and got the revenge most of us only dream about.
"He got tired of fighting with his computer for the last several months," Lt. Jeff Strossner said. "He was having technology problems, so he took it out in the back alley and shot it."
Strossner tweeted Hinch "executed" his computer in an alley on the 2200 block of West Colorado Avenue.
The penalty for the citation will be up to a judge, police said, adding that Hinch was good-natured about the citation and hadn't realized he was breaking the law when he went Wild West on that useless piece of technology.
Hinch shot it eight times, Strossner said, "effectively disabling it."
The computer is not expected to recover.

Seriously who needs a computer? We're going to have a keyboard, mouse and monitor, connected to the internet's Virtual Computer. Hosted by Google or Amazon. Think about it, all you need is a REMOTE DESKTOP.
Why else would Microsoft be skipping Number 9 and giving everyone FREE Windows 10? Because only 1 copy is needed to run the cloud.
At least he didn't shoot it in the back and then drop a wireless mouse beside the case.
it was time to upgrade anyway
The only Walmart purchased chinese garbage that has worked reliably for years is my alarm clock. This will be its fate on the day I retire.
1 minute of 3.5" hard drive @ 500 yards? Contrast and compare to the NRA 500 yard paper. Ok, try it at 200 yards.
I wonder if Dell will use this story in their new customer satisfaction
commercials.
They have a couple of interesting bot articles in drudge 2015 site tonight....
This is one how Facebook is algorithmicly putting u into two way glass mirror boxes to stifle human communicatiin between individuals...... for the sake of lover pâténted I'm sure...

The computer is just a machine. Windows gets "winrot" and should be re-installed once a year or so. I like to boot with Linux system rescue disk, rename the windows, programs, and documents ( user ) directory, then re-install Windows. This keeps the old driver and data files available. I used to re-format the hard disk, but then it is a big job to backup and restore. The computer looks about 10 years old, if it is a hardware problem, time to trash it. Otherwise, I imagine that a young or poor person might like to have it, if it had a fresh copy of Windows.
If you need to reinstall your o/s every year you should try to stop looking at porn on your computer. I have never needed to reinstall the o/s on any pc I have had (except a Linux test pc that I messed up...human error). Winrot, as you put it, is nothing more than installing crappy software, infecting your pc with malware, incorrectly uninstalling software or not maintaining your pc.
Here is a tip (besides the obvious, don't visit porn & gambling websites), don't install toolbars, delete Windows and IE temp files weekly or monthly (CCleaner is good for this), run msconfig and uncheck any non needed programs in the Startup tab (this can also be done with CCleaner), uninstall bloatware and any programs you do not really need or use regularly, DO NOT use registry cleaners, install Windows updates when they are available, update hardware drivers when they are available, only use 1 antivirus software, keep it updated and run a quick scan weekly, keep your desktop uncluttered (you should only have icons of programs used frequently, you should not have your desktop filled with icons and documents) and install software updates when available.
The guy that shot his pc complained that the pc had been blue screening on him (blue screen of death), In most cases BSOD is caused by corrupt drivers. Write down the error code and google it (try starting in safe mode, power off the pc, press the power button to turn the pc back on, immediately hold down F8 until you see the Advanced Startup Options menu, select Safe Mode with Networking and press the Enter key) Uninstall any recent software (you will not be able to do this in Safe Mode), run eventvwr.msc and look for related errors and warnings. If you can only get into Safe Mode but cannot do anything else try a System Restore to a date before the trouble started happening.
BSOD may also be caused by faulty hardware. Try reseating memory and use compressed air to blow the dust out of your computer case.
I miss Earl Weaver and I am not even a sports fan to any degree these days. Otherwise tannerite works wonders on all sorts of things including old barns.
Not a very tight grouping. Amateur.
A single bullet was used during the execution.
The technical term is 'trouble shooting'...
wasnt even black
Isn't it against the law to talk mean about your computer and hurt them or somethin?
It's the law!
What about the sacred right of the "personhood" of Microshit's operating system?
If Obama had a computer, it would have looked a lot like that one.
Seriously, That old piece of junk looks just like the one I've been using since 2009. With the exception of the bullet holes and missing front panel. I'd bet you a nice SSD and memory upgrade from Micron and that machine would have chugged along splendidly. Worked wonders for my XPS 400.
He was a police officer, yes?
He should have placed a taser next to the PC's bullet riddled corpse for the pictures.
This whole thing is just a big misunderstanding.....
He was merely flashing his bios....
