I've thought for some time that the U.S. national debt should be put on a 30-yr mortgage and that the Constitution should be amended for a balanced budget to make sure that at the end of that 30 years a bigger, newer house of America had not also been purchased.
The problem is that most of the US "debt" isn't the sort of thing you can bundle into a 30 year mortgage. It is mostly unfunded liabilities for medicare, et al. The US can barely afford what is essentially an interest only loan, at historically low rates. There's no money in the budget for principal repayment.
The key to fiscal sanity is reforming medicare, medicade, and social security. That's where most of the money goes.

so this dude and janus were to become 'familiar' one late night in the parking lot of a dive-bar outside of fort walton beach, florida. there janus was -- fly, full of himself, and drunk off his ass. an accidental death waiting to happen. the dude in question was evaluating janus and boldly extended some brazen questions that janus interpreted as sass. as was said, i don't take kindly to sass. so's i let the dude know that he was sassin the wrong janus.
