Venezuela Increasingly Looks Like A War Zone
Over the years, we have repeatedly poked fun at the transformation of Venezuela into a "socialist utopia" - an economy in a state of terminal collapse, where the destruction of the currency (one black market Bolivar is now worth 107 times less than the official currency's exchange rate) and the resulting hyperinflation is only matched be barren wasteland that local stores have transformed into now that conventional supply chains are irreparably broken.
Just this past Wednesday we showed a clip of what is currently taking place inside Venezuela supermarkets, noting that "the hyperinflationary collapse in Venezuela is reaching its terminal phase. With inflation soaring at least 65%, murder rates the 2nd highest in the world, and chronic food (and toilet paper shortages), the following disturbing clip shows what is rapidly becoming major social unrest in the Maduro's socialist paradise... and perhaps more importantly, Venezuela shows us what the end game for every fiat money system looks like (and perhaps Janet and her colleagues should remember that)."
Unfortunately, while mocking socialist paradises everywhere is a recurring theme especially once they have completely run out of other people's money to burn through, what always follows next is far less amusing - complete social collapse, with riots, civil war and deaths not far behind.
That is precisely what the video shown below has captured. In the clip, a demonstration against Venezuela's poor transportation services quickly turned violent. End result: one person dead from a gunshot wound, more than 80 arrested and four shops looted on the Manuel Piar Avenue in San Felix.
What is most distrubing is how comparable to an open war zone what was once a vibrant, rich and beautiful Latin American country has become.
This is just the beginning: with the ongoing collapse of the economy, the resultant acts of social violence will only deteriorate and claim more innocent lives, until the "socialist utopia" ends as it always does: with the arrival of a military coup or a full blown civil war.

"Wantonly burning petroleum and turning it into giga-mega-tonnages of plastic garbage and the like will one day be most bitterly regretted."
Not by the people who did (most of) it, cause they'll be dead! The Greatest Generation had the wits to die before the music stopped. The Boomers will spare no length of bailing wire or duct tape to keep the shitshow going until they too have departed their mortal coils in Medicare-covered vegetal bliss. Apres moi..., bitchez!
Depleting resources without cleaning up the evironmental damage AND provisioning for one's progeny = eating/starving/enslaving your own children.
Depleting resources is sometimes unavoidable. However one hopes that a fair portion of those resources are depleted in the process of creating infrastructure or other assets of enduring value from which our children will benefit.
So if I cut down a tree to toast my marsh mallows instead of making a fine table that will be passed on down through the generations, it will be a useless exercise in resource depletion.
"So if I cut down a tree to toast my marsh mallows instead of making a fine table that will be passed on down through the generations, it will be a useless exercise in resource depletion."
A reasonable enough deduction of my sentiment that I assume we agree upon the difference in sensible and non-sensical use of resources.
Infrastructure? Most infrastructure will not last 50 let alone 100 or 200 years without maint. costs equivalent to original build.
Most houses in the US are built of particle board and cinderblock.
What does blacktop look like after 20 years of winter if not re-paved?
I don't consider most of what I see around me as infrastructure.
WAS/IS THIS INFRASTRUCTURE???! : http://zfein.com/photography/detroit/
Dear Throxx,
Once again you are misconstruing why I am saying even though I am not in any real disagreement with what you are saying.
In the area of housing, the US produces a great deal of absolute shit but if you go to other parts of the world you will find houses having been in the same family for 3-4 generations. No doubt there is some maintenance but this is minimal compared to having to replace shit houses with more shit houses every 10-20 years or so.
Infrastructure if built well and maintained is a boon for future generations. You only have to look at some very fine dams and bridges to conclude this. But when neglect sets in we cannot expect miracles to take place.
Why durability when it must be sold to pay inheritance taxes? Both the deceased and the heirs are debt slaves, we know that to be a fact. We will never see a consumption based tax system, the Ponzi would immediately collapse. The politicians know that so any discussions along those lines are demagogue baiters. As the old joke goes we are full up on "master-baiters".
Plastic is benign unless some critter is choked on it, and from a resources shortage point, no shortage of sand for glass containers. Environmental wacko-ism has never been about the environment, it's about the destruction of property rights and its attendant freedom of the individual, vs. the looting by oligarchs. Carbon credits, my ass, bye bye competition.
Energy is all around us and will be exploited when needed, presently there is a glut of energy, thus no need to conjure up solutions. The captive government is the problem. Both parties suck and there will always be Solyndras and ghost cities as long as communists and fascists stay in power.
What else should I expect from dumbed down Americans that can't find their hometown on a map and will elect a fool twice.
Who was the famous person (just saying famous, maybe it's so!) that said "There is no such a thing as a free lunch"? I wonder how this statement came about? Because it can be applied to both capitalism and socialism.
TANSTAAFL - "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch" - Robert Heinlein in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"
Coming to a country near you.
But this should not be. Don't they have a Right to a comfortable life? Just isn't fair.
But...but... they have the right to free abortions, don't they? What more could they want?
Oh, I know, let's legalise gay marriage; that'll deflect attention from the economy.
And what about that lion? What's his name? Cedric? We'll go with that story too.
That should stop the riots for a few days.
/sarc
Now imagine that those hungry unemployed people are armed. What happens next?
Lunch.
Castro could fix this shit with one AK-74 tied behind his back.
At least those were natural clouds in the Venezuela video and not the fake heavy-metal laced shit we have in the States. What do you want - A full belly but early onset Alzheimers, or a lean population that is learning to value what is real?
HFI, lets figure out how the elites and their entire families are immune and steal the secret formula. OK, lets keep it a secret though, just you and me pal...
I've heard of chelation methods that are not made available to the general public. A Rockefeller is reported to wear a patch on his arm that pulls some of the toxins out. Or maybe that was a British royal. He travels with extra pints of his own blood, too. Crazy fuckers. If you think the globalist technocrats are driven by anything much more benign than suicidal megalomania, I think you are mistaken.
Is that seven gov trolls on my down arrows, or one gov dick that has gov software that allows you to change the number of likes/dislikes on all the social media platforms?
Look Up sometime, find your moral backbone, and help bring some of these anti life deep state activities to light.
HFI - Re. How do the connected avoid ...? How did the connected avoid being in the Twin Towers on 9/11? Lucky Larry Silverstein ate breakfast at the restaraunt on top every morning, but luckily, on 9/11, he made other plans. Many examples exist if one wants to get into it. Are aluminum nano-particles kosher?
conscious being -
I'm sure the barium nano-particles are kosher, too. :(
The Alzheimer's Assocation no longer funds research for or considers aluminum exposure a risk factor worth investigating. Dane Wiggington of GeoEngineeringWatch.org has been all over this. I was just watching an old Clint Eastwood movie at VUDU and there was some sloppy and obvious splicing of "chemtrail" clouds into some of the scenes. I guess the Chosenites are at it there too. Nothing sells better than death. That's what the Rothschilds figured out when they went whole hog into fractional reserve lending and making sure that both sides of war got funded, and that the debts accrued were always paid. Back in feudal times, that we appear to be returning to, when the plebes got restless, the kings got together and would decide to have war with each other. Gives the "loyal servants" something else to think about.
Funny how Larry lost his appetite for breakfast up there that morning. I hadn't heard that piece. The rabbit hole is deep.
Be careful, though. It's not enough now that we obey. We must believe. :(
Scooby knows when comments are engineered to convey a message. A bullshit message.
I know it may appear as a bit of a stretch to have viewed the video and find the natural cumulus clouds as being the only thing worth commenting on. But I was up at over 8000 feet today in the San Gabriel Mountains, doing a good 5 hours of hiking, and I would have enjoyed it were it not for the fact that there were 3-4 layers of these stratospheric aerosols sprayed overhead during that time, such that toward the end of the hike, when the particulate matter was dropping to ground level, my eyes burned and throat became sore. If you read up on this stuff at the links provided, you'll find that this operational Solar Radiation Management / eugenics program is the real elephant in the room, the true threat to the survival of our species and the ecosystem we inhabit. Peace.
Predictable time line so far.
Next will be food riots and famine.
Followed by furious crackdown.
Army splits and Merde boy is lynched.
Civil war and black days.
Obozo loves these guys.
The neo-commies and anglo haters in NYC love Maduro and his brand of destruction.
I was in the room while several hundred mostly latino and jewish scumbags cheered Maduro less than a year ago.
I predicted exactly what has transpired: the rampant inflation, expropriations, worsening shortages, violence, etc...
By my calculation Venezuela will totally come apart, and martial law be instititued, before the end of 2015.
I predict that IF Maduro is still alive in one year from today he will no longer be in charge of -or reside within- Venezuela.
CIA bankster oil industry shills degrqding ZH.
Look!
Every city in America a few days after EBT stops working!
I used to believe drum magazines were silly. Not anymore.
Drum mags have a high failure rate and are heavy.
But if you hold the high ground, you can roll them downhill at the approaching enemy.
They get lighter as you use them.
You are supposed to have multiple guns of the same make.
But aside from that, the Thompson, while heavy, has practically no recoil.
Belt fed.
Always wanted a Vickers but out of my price range.
From dust we came and to dust we shall return, the rest is just filler in between.
Not to defend the "socialist utopia", as they are always destined for failure, but let's not ignore the CIA's covert economic warfare that they've been waging down there for the last several years.
The US is pretty much a socialist country now. The Commie hearings in the 50's and early 60's would be appalled at the country that exists today.
It's more like a fascist oligarchy, with some feudalism tossed in for texture.
"The US is pretty much a socialist country now."
The US is pretty much a fascist country now.
FIFY
"... the CIA's covert economic warfare that they've been waging down there for the last several years."
Thanks, I didn't know that Maduro works for the CIA.
Excellent observation.
The US will never leave Venezuela alone as long as its government refuses to be a US lapdog.
Putting a Community Organiz... er, I mean a Bus Driver in charge might fix everything.
Lot of pretty girls there. Good times perhaps, for those looking to hook up.
Anything you want for a roll of toilet paper.
In a socialist system, shelves go empty because no one produces.
In a capitalist system, shelves stay full and product expires because no one can afford the product, and the product ends up in landfills.
Well... You understand socialism, sort of.
You obviously have no clue what capitalism is. But it's not complicated:
It's simply voluntary transactions between willing participants.
Full shelves .... BECUZ they are selling a lot of stuff .... and they restock immediately .... empty shelves speak for themselves !
IF the store has not been bought clean out of product but looted bare; there is not only no incentive to restock, there is no money to restock with.
Socialism emphasizes consumption and expropiating property. In soft socialism, this type of socialism mainly deals in income redistribution, but again it concerns about consumption. The other type of stronger socialism expropiate all means of production to order to provide maximum consumption. Again consumption is not wealth, it's the product of wealth. Wealth does not necessarily imply 100% employment either. Soviet Union had 100% employment, but had a much poorer standard of living than it's main rival, the USA. For enhanced consumption to occur there must be savings to be deployed in more productive manner such as better technology to make production cheaper and efficient.
In the case of Venezuela, the government there has only been concerned about consumption, ie providing everybody with consumption as the justification to expropiate private property.
"In the case of Venezuela, the government there has only been concerned about consumption, ie providing everybody with consumption as the justification to expropiate private property. "
The justification for expropriation of private property is also cover for those managing the expropriation to provide for themselves first, best and last of the property expropriated.
This is not only a problem in places like Venezuela; but, in ALL places where those who work in/for government live more comfortably and have better benefits and retirements than those they purport to serve.
The bureaucracy serves itself best. Always.
Venezuela, The US, France, Egypt, wherever: ministers, cops, teachers, clercks, etc.
ALL ARE THE SAME EVERYWHERE.
Read some OLIVER E. WILLIAMSON.
Corporate and public bureaucracies are all the same everywhere: they serve themselves FIRST AND BEST.
I am actually surprised our community disorganizer hasn't warmed up to Maduro. His kind of dictator.
He has not lasted long enough, killed enough, imprisoned enough, impoverished enough ergo; castro boys..
Cuba has been a fun place to be a tourist for the past 55 years because the Disney Land crowd wasn't allowed to travel there. Gotta give the Castro boys kudos for that.
He doesn't have his own drones. Dicksuckerbama looks down on him.
1. That doesn't look like a war zone.
2. I don't see anything wrong with a government trying to keep the prices of basic necessities to an affordable level.
3. I've seen pictures of the warehouses of two retailers charged with hoarding full of product.
4. Another reason for shortages os criminal gangs selling subsidised Venezuelan necessities for a huge profit in Colombia.
5. Venezuela is not the only place devastated by falling oil prices.
6. I know it's tough to resist the US media line about Venezuela, but I generally take the attitude that if they are really promoting something hard, maybe I should take it with a grain of salt.
It'll all work again when the big banks can move in, and set everything up 'properly'.
1. That doesn't look like a war zone.
1A: Are businesses regularly emptied and/or sacked, and people getting killed in broad daylight, to be considered normal and prosperous?
2. I don't see anything wrong with a government trying to keep the prices of basic necessities to an affordable level.
2A. Printing money, expropriating private property and legitimate business inventories, and selling resources at below the cost of extraction/production/distribution: are all economically unsound and only done in concert via the exorcise of force.
Whether it is the classic Mobster 'Bust Out' or a government with too much power and too many guns run amok doesn't change the basic fact that businesses aren't going to continue if there is NO cash flow with which to sustain extraction/production/distribution -let alone NO profit...
Maduro et. al. have shut down or/and expropriated vast means of production and distribution and YOU are surprised that no more production and distribution are forthcomming??!
Turn off the water and the showers and toilets and sprinklers and fountian aren't going to work, genius...
3. I've seen pictures of the warehouses of two retailers charged with hoarding full of product.
3A. Does the product belong to them? How many pair of shoes can you wear at once and should I come take a look at your closet?
4. Another reason for shortages os criminal gangs selling subsidised Venezuelan necessities for a huge profit in Colombia.
4A. Who controls the border? Venezueala can expropriate unarmed businesses but can't or won't deal with actual criminal gangs?
5. Venezuela is not the only place devastated by falling oil prices.
5A. Venezueal expropriated the means of extraction and still can't make enough money to pay for political promises? What price of a limited resource is high enough to make ALL political promises possible indefinitely?
6. I know it's tough to resist the US media line about Venezuela, but I generally take the attitude that if they are really promoting something hard, maybe I should take it with a grain of salt.
6A. I've been in the room with BOTH sets of liars, Venezuelan and American. Maduro is a liar. Obama is a liar. Venezueala is be mismanaged into a full fledged humanitarian crisis and civil war; and whether or how much the US has interveined or meddled overtly and/or covertly doesn't change the fact that the liar Maduro and his cadre are destroying Venezueala. The US might be slowing or hurrying the destruction of Venezueala; but, Maduro and his cadre are the people puroposefully managing the naiton into disaster through ideological blindness, greed, jealousy, hubris, mendacity, and pure fucking stupidity.
A fine rebuttal
+ 1,000,000 bolivares
I completely agree, but I am twelve + hours late reading this. By now the award must be hyper-inflated to 1,000,000,000 bolivares.
" I don't see anything wrong with a government trying to keep the prices of basic necessities to an affordable level."
You fu.king socialists just don't fu.king get it!
Yes for affordable level but no for having to sell below the cost of production.
Get it through your fu.king socialist heads: it is unsustainable to consume more than you produce!!!
Are you socialists just plain morons???
You can say 'fucking'. There's no need to be polite on my account.
Their ignorance predicates/informs their tendancy towards believing the lies told by politicians who utilize the term 'socialism' to encompass the lies predicated/informed by ignorance.
Not knowing what production entails they believe the falsehoods that they are told.
It is easier to believe a lie than to face limited resources and scarcity for what they are...
It is also VERY MUCH easier to believe these lies when there is such obvious disparity in access to resources, and the disparity so obviously not a product of productivty or merit.
Acceptance of neo-feudalism for the Owner's sake is a hard sell.
Jamie Dimon or Lloyd Blankfein are not Billionaires because they earned it all via hard work and ingenuity. They are master criminals in a well established criminal in a mafia that has captured the world's most powerful government.
Try selling them as 'capitalists' to people that can't a job with a degree, can't pay for a shit-box apartment to have some privacy in a night, whe can't even get on the Godamned subway without being body searched and shaken down.
That argument is NOT gonna work for a good reason...
But the other lie sells easily becuase the first lie is so ridiculously fucking apparent...
ridiculously is a adjective, fucking in this case is used as a adjective. adjective adjective shows poor language skills. Your communications looses impact. The very thing you thought you would achieve. Use of either adjective, by itself, in that sentence is much less convoluted and empowers the sentence..
I guess I'm a language socialist. I believe in good communication for all and it's free!
"ridiculously is a adjective"
Please use "an" before a word with a vowel sound: "an adjective"
"ridiculously is a adjective"
Please use "an" before a word with a vowel sound: "an adjective"
But I do appreciate your lesson.
I hate to say it but Venezuela makes a case for a larger National Military, National Police, and control of cities through facial recognition, traffic cameras, and license plate readers.
Damn.
National Security is a mixed bag.
Prices have to be recognized as part of national security... obviously you get unrest if health care costs are hundreds of dollars for Venezuelans. (Something that Americans don't understand)
- Education Cost
- Health Care Cost
- Housing Costs
- Food, Water, energy, Gas, Propane, Natural Gas Costs
- Clothing Costs
Yeah, Americans you don't know what it is like not to have Education, houses, and upward mobility.
But Americans are now Experiencing European Style hikes in Housing, Banking, insurance, Taxes, Property taxes, missing pension, missing savings, and missing inheritances.
Guess what, the power of the government enables the wealth transfer from the middle class and poor class to the wealthy class. Wouldn't you fight for price controls?? Wouldn't you fight for public utilities to keep prices under control?
WTF?
Oh you think Latin America had Land Reform in their Revolutions... ah, now I get it. Or maybe you think there are still lands to be claimed, a kind of Westward Movement in Poor countries like in the Caribbean, Central, and South America?
No, I don't see the Hacienda Powers providing easy-loan terms or free land.
What do you ZH people really know about wealth & poverty & Opportunity in Latin American Countries?? What do ZH people know about the Independence Movements and Reforms in the many, many Latin American Countries?
LOL, forgot the sarc tag?
I'm sure the US will totally get involved in it, when the timing is right, in the name of 'national security'. We'll storm in to return Venezuela to "truth and justice, in the American way". Oh, and then there's that low sulfur high quality crude oil...
US has long been involved supporting the oligarchs who evidently have a freind at ZH to help them demonize V gov atempts to provide for their people. V is a convenient host for intl banksters and other US gov backed predators who care only about exploiting V for their own benefit. ZH endorsement of this kind of shit gives credence to those who charge ZH is occasionally a CIA crony capitalist tool.
i heard they ran out of beer recently.
Watts riots, Rodney King verdict and all of the more recent protest.

As a political distraction Venezuela has ramped up its claim to a swathe of Guyana's territory based on the doctrine of uti possidetis juris whereby states respect their borders upon independence. Google: 'Falklands - Uti Possidetis Juris & Nootka Sound Convention 1790' to discover why Venezuela's claim is null and void.
When do we get to see Lloyd Blankfein on the ground all bloody with people standing around him?
When williambanzai7 'shops it up.
You know, he's been couped up in his bunker in CT for the last few weeks. Do you think he knows something?
Must one point out to all the smelly counter-revolutionists in capitalist running-dog land, that the Socialist Utopia paradigm still hasn't been tried for long enough for it to be perfected as yet. Come back in 50 years, you'll see!
"Come back in 50 years, you'll see!"
We had 70 years of the Soviet Union.
I think that's enough.
When situation gets bad enough to where NPO's begin soliciting contributions to provide them food, count me out.
Not that I don't feel for them, but it won't ever cure the problem that brought on the hunger and will continue to.
Their problem is not lack of food, never has been, it's the lack of any legit govt, and an abundance of corrupt socialists.
The only thing I'd ever consider supporting down there is the funding of bullets (not beans) for the people to get rid of their cause of hunger, the govt.
I feel the same way about most other tragic scenes of starvation in Africa, corrupt govt needs to be overthrown by the people and that should be supported by anyone who would truly want to help rid them of their ongoing hunger threats.
- Shane
PS - I'd reported, first-hand, outrageous goings on down there started well over a decade ago http://www.ki4u.com/chavez.htm that you'd still never heard about up here.
Thankfully No Lions were hurt in the making of this riot.
Sean Penn obviously could not save Venezuela so give Bernie Sanders a chance to make dreams come true there. "Bernie Sanders has such a 1930's Brooklyn [Jewish] accent that he makes me sound like I'm speaking the Queen's English" Michael (Weiner) Savage.

Holy cow! That's Canada in about 6 months.
"This is just the beginning: with the ongoing collapse of the economy, the resultant acts of social violence will only deteriorate and claim more innocent lives, until the "socialist utopia" ends as it always does: with the arrival of a military coup or a full blown civil war."
Ends as it always does is the USSR, the USA, the UK, the European Powers swoop in with money for the Wealthy Influential Members of Society to get them to pull politics toward Capitalism, toward Moderate Politics, toward very limited socialist program, toward Darwinism, toward Banker Control, and toward Central Banking Policies created by Europe.
Seems clear.
It always ends with the Superpowers exerting their influence on the Latin American Countries.
Well it is not all bad.
I have to scratch my head a little here.
The Wealthy Families do understand Economies and trade.
This is sort of the principal that the USA runs by. Our US Economy and Government are run by the Elite/Wealthy/Educated. There are some great advantages to this. We don't remain as superpowers with Rogue Voices or Independent Empires taking Control. That much is obvious. We have a sort of Government Class that joins with a ruling class and wealthy class. Well they seem to understand banking and economics even if they are liars, obfuscaters, and racketeers.
The US Banks seem to rule and win over other banks and this is one of the "National Security" Policies.
Strong Corporations is not a new idea. The Japanese and Germans exploited this strategy long ago.
'...The Japanese and Germans exploited this strategy long ago'
They were both autocratic socialist/fascist states - always ends the same.
Leftists, no matter the moniker, always run out of wealth and then look longingly at other peoples/countries resources.
If they have the technology and man power - War on, if not they violently disappear into history.
No Commies.
No Socialists.
No Leftists.
No Progressives.
No Liberalism.
All mental diseases which destroy whole countries and societies.
Has there been an overhwhelming influx of Spanish speaking immigrants to Canada which hasn't been reported?
"Holy cow! That's Canada in about 6 months."
Damn Harper and those who are behind him (American Insurance, NEOCONS)
Would these people also think about a possible correlation between their last vote and this chaos? Socialists never learn, when this is all over they'll just do it again.
Just wait until the ETB cards here get declined for some real action.
Keep people fed and clothed, but stupid, and they wont try to overthrow you.
Has a lot of these leaders not paid attention?
Where is Sean Penn when you need him?
Taking it up the a** somewhere
Affirmative Action Barry Soetoro Obama wants to change the United States into Venezuela. And the sad truth is that there are so many Affirmative Action morons like him that want the same changes.
Chavez was an interesting fella actually. Said what he thought. But when OPM runs out, shit happens.
I am convinced that path to a new better and possible world is not capitalism the path is socialism. H. Chavez
The descendants of those who crucified Christ... have taken ownership of the riches of the world, a minority has taken ownership of the gold of the world, the silver, the minerals, water, the good lands, petrol, well, the riches, and they have concentrated the riches in a small number of hands. H. Chavez
Mr. Obama decided to attack us, Now you want to win votes by attacking Venezuela. Don’t be irresponsible. You are a clown, a clown. Leave us in peace … Go after your votes by fulfilling that which you promised your people. H Chavez
Everyday I become more convinced, there is no doubt in my mind, as many intellectuals have said, that it is necessary to transcend capitalism. But capitalism can not be transcended through capitalism itself; it must be done through socialism, true socialism, with equality and justice. I’m also convinced that it is possible to do it under democracy, but not in the type of democracy being imposed by Washington. H. Chavez
Socialism, Communism, Liberalism, Leftism, Progressive-ism, is a disease which destroys whole countries and always, always leads to enslavement and destruction of whole countries.
Wow, that looked a lot like Miami in the 1970's and 80's. Memories.
Why is it that all the anti American countries are going down the crapper? Russia, Brazil, China suddenly imploding. Looks like the Brics and Venez are being sabotaged.
Most of the world is "anti-American" today because the USA is decidedly unAmerican.
You may be right about sabotage.
The other explanation is that most of Latin America is hard unreformed socialist/corporatist and that's especially true of Brazil.
Socialism, communism, fascism will always self destruct.
The wealth of a nation and the intelligence of the leaders is the only variable.
Smart leaders in a wealthy country can perpetuate the fraud longer.
The USA has the wealth but the stupidity will soon eclipse the wealth and then....
The Brics got thrown under the bus by the same FED policy that prompted people in far away lands to start immolating themsevles.
Even so, Venezuela and Argentina had already royally fucked themselves over pretty good before then. The Obama regime is made up of communist sympathizers and the anti-Americanism from Venezuela's leaders is a tool for domestic consumption.
This socialist collapse all started with Chavez. The irony is that Western MSM always described him as "Venezuela's right wing" leader.
In truth, he was little different to other socialist loons in history when they get their hands on the levers of power: they abuse it, go on a spending spree to buy utopia and end up wrecking the nation's economy and society in the false belief they can buck reality.
This is hardly just about socialism. Sometimes even zerohedge can be extremely shortsighted.
Use your brains and the net.
Venezuela population:
1950 - 5 million
2015 - 33 million
This is more extreme growth than Yemen.
Any country that explodes in population in such a way will destabilize sooner or later. Rich middle east oil monarchies are on this list as well.
OVERPOPULATIONS IS NOT A RESULT OF SOCIALISM!!! END OF STORY.
Epic fail. Socialism and hand outs allow the over population to occur...
Well it's one factor but certainly not the only one.
Have you seen those Venezuelan chicas? A-roo-roo-rooh!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brcQm6N2U1M
It becomes harder and harder on daily basis to tell the two systems apart. Venezuela is bankrupt and how about anybody else. Parameters are not important, but an outcome.
Venezuela is the world's #1 in petro reserves, gee I wonder who's behind this instability. Maybe that nation with a fracking hoax that pretends its energy self sufficient.
Nah... just the stupidity of a socialist, fascist state.
Their entire oil complex went to hell when government stole it from the private sector
True.
Chavez did the same thing to the food supply when he was still alive. Obama's commie friend, Bill Ayers, advised Chavez how to turn their public schools into public indoctrination centers. There is nothing they won't destroy.
...........And the Jews behind it all rub their hands together and cackle evily with glee! The goyem are so easy to manipulate!
Keyboard Commando, y0u have a disease. Its called anti-semitism. Your hatred will consume you.
i think his hatred is what is writing posts. keyboard commando became irrelevant a while ago.
Really is written by ignorance sprinkled with stupidity
I chatted to people time to time, the majority is brazilians who left the countries because of taxes and corruptions.
Funny thing: Am in Copenhagen today. Went to a forex kiosk at the trainstation and they had framed Zimbabwe One Hundred Trillion Dollars note on display as if printing kroners and keeping negative interest rates to maintain the peg with the euro isn't going to lead to the same thing. Took a picture and would post if I knew how.
Also had an experience with an older Danish lady. She and her apparent husband got on the elevator. We exchanged greetings. After that she turned her back and started to break down. He did his best to console her. All I could hear was her muttering "American, American".
Other than that, the place is a dump with trash strewn about everywhere.
"He did his best to console her. All I could hear was her muttering "American, American". "
This is what successive Washington slimeball govs have done to the American people. They've caused people around the world to dislike/hate Americans to the point where many Americans now travel and claim to be Canadian to avoid the backlash.
Bad news: Canadians suck too.
Hey, Scooby had an encounter with a German lady on the Barcelona to Ibiza ferry not too long ago. She was screaming American, American too.
Did you know they have a lower deck(about 10 flights below car storage)with about 100 reclining seats, almost like a theatre? A-roo-roo-rooh.
Is this what the western world sanctions supposed to achive? How many agitators, provocateurs and professional revolutionary did the west employ this time?
They had no need to - socialism/communism always self destructs.
Just like there is no perpetual motion machine there is no never ending wealth in a socialist/communist economy.
Fuck the communists and their cousins socialism
The socialist republic of Venezuela also has a spurious territorial claim on half of neighbouring Guyana. The claim is based on its borders at the time of independence from Spain, a process known as uti possidetis juris. But UPJ only applies to those nations that have opted in to use it - the former Spanish colonies and cannot be used in any court or tribunal 'without consent.' So Guyana's claim is based on customary law only. Argentina makes similar claims in respect of the Falklands. For ICJ Judgments and legal Opinions on Uti Possidetis Juris use link:

Socialism gives the people a false sense of security and robs them of the ability to use their minds to solve problems...That which is not used, is lost...Why worry? The check's in the mail.....
There! Fixed it for ya.

one word: Liberation Theology. John Paul II did his level best to root the socialists/communists out of the priesthood in mexico, central & south america. it's amazing what people believe when a man in glittering robes tells'em 'god said so..."
the best plan for those interested is turning to God in the Spirit of Christ. leave the worldly men and their man-made religions outside in the darkness. let the devil take the hindmost...

This is no surprise when you understand the KGB originated as the Oprichni secret police of the Russian Orthodox "church".

Coming to both second world/developing countries (China, Brazil, etc) and first world ones (Europe, USA, Japan) when global economy will go to the toilet and price of raw material and food will go off the chart helped by central banks money pumping...
Global socialism, crony-ism: Future is Dark, May the Force be with you !

Israel and Palestine. You live in one or the other. Besides Israel, all the rest of the world is Palestine.
How is central banks rigging all markets in "first world" countries any different? It's TREASON and will destroy us the same way even though it's called "rescuing capitalism".
For. 0001 cents a day, you can sponsor one 3-ply sheet of tiolet paper to needy Venezuelan. Our Hotline is open 24/7 a day. Please reach out.
Eventually, the food shortage problem will solve the toilet paper shortage problem, and then, no problems.
Except the mass burial problem.
Venezuela is heavily dependent on oil revenues. With the price of oil declining by 50%, all oil exporting nations are facing new economic problems. Venezuela is hardly “socialist”. Major media outlets, banks and many other industries are privately owned. The US has been destabilizing countries in Latin America for over a century. Venezuela is no exception (see:stopimperialism.org/us-targets-venezuela-using-border-dispute-as-pretext).

Once Chavez died, they thought the brick wall would crumble. The nationalized petroleum market will not be a carrat on the string to white wash simple daily staple needs. President Obama declares Venezuela a national security threat ...
There's your Nigger in the hood.
In good times governments can collect high taxes to provide free shit to people -
But since times are so good - they can also borrow large amounts so they can give out even more free shit-
When times turn back to normal - they can't collect as much in taxes - so the borrow even more -
Then when the economy slumps - taxes dry up and not only will the lenders refuse to loan you more money - they want the money they already gave you back.
This is the way it is -
Where is the USA in this time line?
Times will NEVER turn back to normal.
Nick the bus driver. A good little Catholic Marxist. Just like his hero, that Jesuit piece of filth in Rome. Think hard zeroheads, I'm sure you can find a way to blame this on the Jews.
But if Venezuela would just find it in their hearts to raise the minimum wage everything would be fixed. /sarc

If "We the People" do not get our heads out of our rear ends, we truly deserve our fate.
As long as we let the media divide us into various groups to "hate" and "blame" each other for our failures we can not unite as “We the People” to put a stop to the insanity of OUR government.
We must see ourselves as Americans first. “Just Us” focuses on keeping “We the People” divided because they fear our collective power.
United we can win, Divided we will continue to fail.
Pick something you have been putting off, get it done today and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment.
everyone's throwing off socialism and jumping on the bandwagon, but no one's playing the communism card.
If the USA would leave Venezuela alone, they would be just fine.
It's amazing how gullible people are to American Propaganda. Point the finger the other way, the cause, not the result.
What is wrong with Venezuela is like what is wrong with all countries being attacked by US Imperialism and their overt/covert operations, CIA, payoffs, NGO infiltration, sabotage, instigators, media control, sanctions, price fixing, snipers, mercenaries, UN manipulation, Banksters, food dumping, etc.
as in American (Predatory) Capitalism Explained In 130 Seconds
seeing things ass backwards is how they want you to think
don't blame america when you can't manage your own financial house
you have to make money to spend it
socialism without a profitable economy doesn't work
the borrower is slave to the lender
don't borrow then.
blame the victim
you don't understand anything
you're another enabler
We have a socialist system as well. What would you call the socialist bailout since 2008 keeping housing and wall street afloat? Before we mock these "socialist failures" , maybe we should look in the mirror because the result of our system may end up the same.
everybody is being attacked by the same scoundrels
Looks like Walmart when the EBT cards suddenly quit working.
Walmart, McDonalds, and the rest of corporate America greatly depend on EBT to avoid livable wages.
The Socialist Model: No food, no need for toilet paper. Problem solved
The dumbing down of Zero Hedge continues unabated, given the quality and the partisanship of the replies on this story. Please, please, please, see Venezuela as merely one piece in a 300 piece jigsaw puzzle. FFS learn to connect and join the dots, instead of arguing over Socialism vs Capitalism. It is infantile at best and outright negligent at worst. Is Maduro an arsehole and incompetent? Undoubtedly! But there are other forces at work here, which the dumbing down is missing. Come on guys, its the same 3 card trick at play here. Polictics-Finance-Media. Who is behind the concerted and most importantly coordinated Political pressure, U.S pushed and led financial sanctions by the usual suspects who have been systematically over the last 5 years destabilising the Bolivar and the media attacks on Venezuela? I challenge anyone to identify the top 20 Agitators against Venezuela, both inside and outside the country and see what demographic they are. Once you realise the demographic of the people castigating and pushing for increasing sanctions against Venezuela, it will all fall into place. Until then, stay off the fucking Kool Aid!

It's no secret that Venezuela has been a high priority target for CIA, Bush made public statements alluding to this many times. The US is also attempting to normalize relations with Cuba which has been one of Venezuela's most important allies. The suffering of Venezuela is most certainly a result of more than their socialist policies. I don't prefer socialism myself but Venezuela has the right to it if that's what they want. They have shit tons of oil and it is theirs to do with as they please.
There sure is a lot of conflict and upheaval where the last of the large oil stores are located.
Give your oil.
