5 Questions For Bernie Sanders Supporters

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Derrick Broze, originally posted Op-Ed at TheAntiMedia.org,

I have five simple questions for supporters of Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. Before I get to them, I find it necessary to preface this with a plea for logic and respectful communication. I am going to be critical of Bernie, and I need you to listen, remain calm, take in the information, and answer honestly.

I ask that you refrain from calling me a shill, a Republican agent, or anything of that sort. I also ask that before you write me off as “another corporate media shill,” you take a moment to consider that I have praised Bernie when he was in the right (see here and here). I have also called him out in the areas where he needs work.

Personally, I am slightly frightened by the online interactions I have witnessed from those who #FeelTheBern. There seems to be a tendency to dismiss anyone who criticizes Bernie as either a Donald Trump supporter or simply an idiot. I can only speak for myself and say that neither of those accusations are true. This hysteria around Sanders is reminiscent of Obama’s supporters, who were quick to attack detractors pointing out that “Hope and Change” was quickly turning into more of the same.

And now on to the questions. Each of them relates to Sanders’ own comments about his potential presidency. I ask that you respond to each comment individually and think about what exactly you are looking for when you say you want to vote for a president.

If you are seeking more freedom and prosperity, ask yourself if that is what you will get by voting for any of the current candidates. If you are seeking to reclaim the moral high ground the United States may have once had, ask yourself if these policies will do just that. Please, please stand by your principles and do not allow the Corporate-State powers to pull the wool over your eyes.

Question 1. Would Bernie’s tax on Wall Street speculation work?

Bernie Sanders has said that he would tax Wall Street speculation and use the funding to pay for his “free” public college tuition program. A fact check by the Associated Press reported that “Sanders’ plan would cover tuition and fees at public universities – a $70 billion annual expense with the federal government picking up two-thirds of that tab by taxing trading in the financial markets.”

Students would still be on the hook for room and board costs that average $9,804, according to the College Board,” the AP added.

But would this Wall Street speculation tax actually achieve the desired outcome? Donald J. Boudreaux, Professor of Economics at George Mason University, does not believe the plan can work. Boudreaux recently wrote:

If such speculation is as economically destructive as Mr. Sanders regularly proclaims it to be, the tax on speculation should be set high enough to drastically reduce it.  But if – as Mr. Sanders presumably wishes – speculation is drastically reduced, very little will remain of it to be taxed and, thus, such a tax will not generate enough revenue to pay for Mr. Sanders’s scheme of making all public colleges and universities ‘tuition-free.’

If a speculation tax is a successful deterrent, there will likely be a decrease in speculation and therefore, very little funds to appropriate for a college tuition fund. Can Bernie’s Wall Street speculation tax work?

Question 2. Do you support an increase in payroll tax for all Americans to fund Bernie’s minimum wage and healthcare plans? Do you believe Bernie’s plans will only tax the 1%?
Bernie Sanders recently appeared on This Week with George Stephanopoulos to discuss his plans for his presidency. Stephanopoulos asked Sanders about his plans to tax the wealthiest Americans. Here is a segment of the transcript:

Stephanopoulos: But to pay for all of your programs, you’re going to have to do more than tax the top 1 percent. How far below the top 1 percent are you going to go with tax hikes?

Sanders: It is not true that we have to go much further.

Stephanopoulos:  Tax hikes below the top 1 percent? No tax hikes below the top 1 percent?

Sanders: I didn’t say that. I think if you’re looking about guaranteeing paid family and medical leave, which virtually every other major country has, so that when a mom gives birth, she doesn’t have to go back to work in two weeks, or there’s an illness in a family, dad or mom can stay home with the kids. That will require a small increase in the payroll tax.

Stephanopoulos: That’s going to hit everybody.

Sanders: That would hit every — yes, it would.

Bernie Sanders was also quizzed on his plans on a recent episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher”:

So you’re saying we can pay for all of this without raising taxes on anybody but the 1 percent?” Maher asked.
We may have to go down a little bit lower than that — but not much lower,” Sanders replied.

Do you trust Sanders when he says the payroll tax will be “small” and that he will only raise taxes on the 1% (or a little bit lower)?

Question 3. Do you support Bernie’s comments on Edward Snowden?

Sanders has openly spoke against the NSA’s massive surveillance programs but stands with the rest of the presidential candidates in his belief  that Snowden should face some type of punishment. At the first Democratic presidential debate, Bernie was asked about his position on Edward Snowden. Sanders said he believes Snowden “played a very important role in educating the American people” — but he broke the law. “I think there should be a penalty to that,” he said. “But I think that education should be taken into consideration before the sentencing.

I know some Bernie supporters may feel these comments provide some hope for Snowden to receive a fair trial, but the truth is that Snowden could not possibly face anything resembling a fair trial in the U.S. Simply look at the prosecution (and persecution) of Chelsea Manning, Barrett Brown, Jeffrey Sterling, and John Kiriakou to see the way whistleblowers are treated in the land of the free. Snowden should be welcomed home as a hero and the masterminds of the NSA’s spying programs should be the ones facing penalties.

Question 4. Do you support Bernie’s stance on Israel and Saudi Arabia? Both of these nations are responsible for atrocious human rights violations (here and here). Saudi Arabia is also accused of funding the 9/11 attacks. Despite this, the majority of politicians — including Bernie — continue to support these nations.

Last summer, as Israeli soldiers deliberately targeted hospitals in Operative Protective Edge, Sanders joined the rest of the U.S. Senate by unanimously voting to support Israel’s actions and supporting “the State of Israel as it defends itself against unprovoked rocket attacks from the Hamas terrorist organization.”

Mint Press News recently reported on Sanders’ Israel stance:

“Yet when it comes to more recent statements, journalists describe Sanders as difficult to pin down on foreign policy issues, including Israel. Josh Nathan-Kazis, writing in June for Forward, noted that ‘a search of the Congressional Record reveals very few statements about Israel by Sanders on the floor of the House or the Senate,’ but ‘in February 2015, Sanders was the first Senator to announce that he would skip Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint session of Congress.’”

Nathan-Kazis reports that Sanders does have limited ties to AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobbying group that’s trying to drive the U.S. to war with Iran:

“In Vermont, a small group of AIPAC-linked Jewish activists do have Sanders’ ear on Israel-related matters. Yoram Samets, a Burlington businessman and a member of AIPAC’s national council, said that he has been in touch with Sanders for the past decade, but that Sanders does not sign any AIPAC-backed letters. His Vermont colleague Senator Patrick Leahy does not, either.”

Though it appears Sanders keeps his distance from Israeli radicals like Netanyahu, his silence on the matter and support of Operation Protective Edge reveals his true stance.

Sanders also recently spoke about Saudi Arabia while taping a PBS show at the University of Virginia. Sanders’ said the nation with untold amounts of blood dripping off its hands should “get their hands dirty” and take a bigger role in the war against ISIS. Why would someone interested in ending the wars demand that a nation known for blatant human rights violations “get their hands dirty” and support more war? Saudi Arabia killed dozens of civilians in a single airstrike over a wedding in Yemen last month, yet Sanders still believes they should lead the assault on the Islamic State.

Should we expect President Sanders to continue supporting these nations?

Question 5. Do you support Bernie’s plan to continue the drone program? According to documents released by a new whistleblower, during one five-month period of drone operations, nearly 90 percent of the people killed in airstrikes were not the intended targets.

Senator Bernie Sanders recently said he would continue Obama’s disastrous drone program, which has resulted in the deaths of innocent people across the Middle East. In late August, Truthdig reported that Bernie Sanders told George Stephanopoulos he would continue the program.

I think we have to use drones very, very selectively and effectively. That has not always been the case.” Sanders said. “What you can argue is that there are times and places where drone attacks have been effective. … There are times and places where they have been absolutely countereffective and have caused more problems than they have solved. When you kill innocent people, the end result is that people in the region become anti-American who otherwise would not have been.”

Sanders is absolutely right that killing innocent people fosters anti-American sentiment around the world (this makes his push for the civilian-killing Saudi military’s involvement in the fight against ISIS all the more puzzling). In 2014, the journal Dynamics of Asymmetric Conflict released two papers discussing the use of drones by the military and found an increasing number of Americans are against the use of drones on suspected terrorists in foreign countries. One paper notes that if drones continue to receive negative publicity within the United States and abroad, they may become “politically impractical.” The second paper asks whether drones are actually increasing the power of anti-U.S. protesters by gaining sympathy with the civilian population.

According to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, the CIA carried out 27 drone strikes in Pakistan during 2013, as well as 38 in Yemen — including the now infamous attack on December 12, 2013 that killed 15 people at a wedding. TBIJ estimates there have been over 2,400 deaths since Obama took over the drones. Since official numbers are not recorded, it is difficult to know exactly how many civilians have been killed under the U.S. drone program. However, Senator Lindsey Graham has estimated that 4,700 people have been killed.

These numbers seem to line up with what the newest whistleblower has stated: “Anyone caught in the vicinity is guilty by association,” the whistleblower told The Intercept. When “a drone strike kills more than one person, there is no guarantee that those persons deserved their fate.”

The whistleblower also stated that the program uses a phone number or email address to locate targets and is very unreliable. The source told The Intercept that drone bombings are carried out based on these phone numbers or emails and might not result in the death of the intended target.

Many are quick to say that we are keeping American soldiers safe by using drone warfare, but we are learning that this war is not being fought with accurate intelligence or oversight. With all of this information readily available, how can Bernie Sanders continue to support this drone program?

*  *  *

These are my five questions for supporters of Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. I hope some of you made it this far and were willing to read and respond with respect and honesty. It is important to recognize that there is a growing number of Americans who no longer buy into the two-party system and do not trust anyone running within those parties. Rather than voting for a new leader every four years, these radicals focus on creating solutions built on voluntary association and mutual aid rather than government force. Remember, not everyone is an idiot, a Republican, or an apathetic sheeple. Some of us simply disagree with Bernie’s economics and solutions.

Personally, I recommend each of you begin researching agorism and seeking solutions outside of the ballot box.

Don't underestimate us.

The "hysteria" this article talks about is repressed energy being released. Euphoria is a better word for it. It was real in 2008 - Obamamania - it's just that Obama wasn't real.  It served its purpose though, draining off our energy and leaving us even more hopeless and cynical.  He's good at what he does.

Older Americans I know - over 45 - hate this-part time economy and dream of reopening the mills.  What has been keeping us quiet is fear, despair, and a propaganda mill that convinced most of us that "there is no alternative".

Young folk don't know what they want, they don't even know what a good job is, but they're angry and have no faith in "the system".  They're very hard to organze, but once started there will be no holding them back.

Saldy, the industrial manufacturing core of an economy isn't just a hobby that you pick back up after a few years off  like an old tuba.

Once you've pissed it away, it becomes exponentially more difficult to restore to its former glory.

Time is limited and technology has moved on, but there are still millions of us old farts who know how to set up a mill and an industrial process and teach the young folk how to make it work.  Teaching a new generation of young folk how to get up at 6am every friggin day 50 weeks a year and show  up ready to pay attention, do what's required of you and not make shit up, and work steadily for 7, 8, 9, sometimes 10 hours with a few short breaks, now that's another matter.  But in  a post-collapse world with survival on the line, given a voice and a stake in the company, millions will learn how. And one can learn to love a good factory, love being part of it the smells, the rhythms, the organized confusion, the camaradery and pride in the product.

The -6 which your very thoughtful comment got. was it from readers who don't agree with what you said?  Or folks who wish you wouldn't say it?

Even if I disagreed with you this comment would rate a +1.

Some folks are intelligent enough to be able to separate Jewish from Israeli and know that the real signs of the traitors are dual-citizenship (Bernie is only a US citizen and always has been, no birth cert required) and taking large sums of money from or otherwise cow-tow-ing to AIPAC (which he has not).

I do not agree with the "if you're not for Hamas, you're against us" routine...only idiots contemplate the Middle East in these moronic polarized terms.

Ask Bernie or his followers about Vermonts healthcare system and watch the smoke come out of their ears. Bernie much like Warren talks tough on the FED, but their entire philosophy is built on unlimited free money from that exact FED (plank 5). Or maybe he'd like to talk about the youth unemployment rates in all those "social democracies" he cites. What are they now? 25%? 40%? 50%? What are the birth rates?
Just another STATIST wind bag.

Maybe we should be thinking about these items RELATIVE TO OTHERS.  Both Hillary and Repubs.

#1 -His Financial Transaction Tax to raise revenues and cut down on this parasitic behavior is better than any other ideas or lack thereof.

#2 - I'm not sure it would be a national disaster to have this increase filter down to the top 5% or so.  In the past the economy has performed well with high marginal rates.  As it is, the investor class has been SERVED by all policies and largely unimpacted by what so many have had to endure.

#3 - His Snowden answer was by far the most thoughtful response at the debate.  I believe Snowden to be a hero but any candidate who says that is committing POLITICAL SUICIDE.

# 4 & # 5  -  These are the areas where RELATIVE POSITIONS really come into play.  Hillary is complicit in almost every Middle East policy disaster this decade kicking off with the Iraq War which she voted for.  How many Republicans can join Bernie in saying they voted against it while also being accused of not being a patriot?  Same with the Patriot Act.  Having the Middle East nations address Middle East problems - even Saudi Arabia as they ARE ALL screwey to one extent or another - is preferable to our record of overthrowing leaders and placing figureheads in their place or creating a vacuum to result in turmoil and bloodbaths all over the place.  But granted, the relatively new situation with Russia will require some cooperation and negotiation.  Also, maybe the author should research exactly how many members of Congress and just whom have made "the junket" to Israel over the years.  Sanders' ties with Israel might even be said to be pale in comparision to our existing policies

The drone issue is a very important issue.  No doubt.  But I have yet to hear any better ideas than doing the with very great care and understanding of their consequences.

.............................................................................

Again, IMO it's all relative.  Sanders' positions on all the five questions are better than Hillary's.  She is a disaster waiting to happen.  It would really be nice to identify a Republican who would do better on the five questions posed.  But we are so void of true leadership that the entire group of candidates are an awful joke.  At least Sanders honestly stresses the income inequality, has shown tough stances against the Fed, and at least honestly contemplates the radical changes needed.

Bernie is NOT an issue at all... it will be Hitler in drag (Hillaroid), or Biden.  Biden only if the POS Rodham gets prosecuted for any of her many recent major felonies... or the Defense Dept finally wakes up and yanks her Secret Clearance, which is a no-brainer, but unlikely. tehy need a new TV channel that runs nothing but Hillary info about her deviant sexuality, her many unprosecuted felonies, the Clinton murders, lies and coverups... would go several months without repeating anything!  FUCK YOU, ya dried old booger!

It will be Bernie and Trump, and Bernie will win if we can force Diebold to let him and if we cankeep him alive.

If Clinton wins the nomination, the life goes out of the Dem Party and Trump wins.

It seems like most Dem office-holders are too blinded by their money ties to see this.

People can't quite accept yet that there is no answer to be found in electing a particular person to president.  They still want to believe the old system can survive and that no changes have to be made.  That's why they stubbornly cling to false beliefs like the Left-Right farce.

Once people recognize the true problem, everything else will follow.  That's why information and education is a powerful weapon against the oligarchs; their tools of control cease to work.

Bernie at least is right out front in saying that! No president, he insists, has the power to enact a program like his.  It will he says take a great mass movement confronting the billionaire class to win it, and it will take a fight. He is offering to lead us in that fight, and his question to us is "Are you ready for a fight?"

Warren Buffet told us that we were in a class war, and his class was winning.  The working class (broadly defined as all who depend on a paycheck for most of their living, or who did when they were younger or able to work, or who will when they quit or finish school) has not been engaging in this unequal war. By and large we have not been fighting back, and we've been getting trounced.  Bernie is calling us to battle, a battle that has been imposed on us. Most folks I talk to know this has to happen, ready or not.

The problem as I see it is:

1) ameriKans are 'offered' chosen candidates to choose from. It's a club and only those in the club are invited to run. Look at the list on both sides. All are club members trying their hardest to convince you they aren't.

2) Voting is done with easily hacked machines manufactured by a corporation doing most/all of it's business with government with zero paper trail. Ask a computer a dozen times for a recount and you will get the same result.

"There are 2 Main Voting Machine Companies: Diebold and ES&S. They are both owned by two men who are brothers and staunch Republicans. They both have refused to tell anyone how votes are tabulated/counted."

From http://truedemocracyparty.net/voting-machines/

3) Most ameriKans vote for selfish reasons rather than what is good for the nation. Most will not go out and research a candidate,,, they prefer the MSM to deliver the information from commercials on Tee Vee.

#3 is why a candidate that loves America as much as say President Putin appears to love Russia will never surface or survive. If any person got in office and tried to reinstate the constitution and its principles they would be either assassinated or hung on a light pole while riots would occur in the streets from those not getting this or that.

Personally not a one is worth the gas to drive to the voting booth. Nothing will change and its been my experience over the last fifty years to note it just gets worse and worse. Einstein's rule of insanity definitely applies here.

Good.  You understand.  Now, do you have access to subsistence local agriculture?  A fruit and/or nut tree?  A large garden?  A row of herbs on the windowsill?  A family of pot-bellied pigs?  Or a herd of dairy goats?  Can you chop down large trees without using power equipment? Detoxify acorns? Tell the edible mushrooms from the poisonous ones?  It's a lot of work getting ready to live without the Powers That Rule Us and their warm, safe cocoon of material abundance.  Are you ready?

I don't support Sanders, Hillary, *or* Trump. There *are* other choices, or there *was* at least one. I still kind of like Rand Paul. Me and maybe three or four other people. Nobody seems to be buying his "Don't Tread On Anybody" message though.

They all want to be bossed around, told what to do and where to line up for chow, when  they can go to the bathroom and how much toilet paper they can use to wipe with, etc., so they want ... a bigger boss. And they're going to get one, good and hard.

I know Rand Paul is not just quite ideologically pure enough for some of the few who *don't* want to boss *or* be bossed. But a great gulf separates Paul's thinking from that of any of the other candidates.

No.

The reason his support dropped to nothing is because there is no longer any real daylight between his thinking and the rest of the establishment hacks. His idiotic, transparent, Clintonian attempt at "triangulation" to try and broaden his base cost him his dad's principled supporters.  The neocons, warvangelicals and race hustlers he tried sucking up to were never going to trust him anyway, despite all his pathetic groveling... including putting on that ridiculous little jew beanie and genuflecting before the wailing wall. How embarrassing.  I hope he loses his Sentate seat as a lesson for all his betrayals.  Poetic justice.

Regardless - Bernie or no Bernie... when USA collapses and becomes USSA if there is no social safety net millions will starve and the state will become chaos.

USA has let 'capitalism'  take it's course.... it doesn't work, as the rich get richer and fleece it to death... now the death will come..

The state, if if there continues to be one,  needs to take control of the bare essentials. Something that Obama appears to be doing.

If you hate Obama that's fine... but it appears that Obama is halting the neocon zios from starting WW3 so far.. Put yourself in Obama's shoes trying to hold back the idiot Generals and neocons... sure be nice to fire them all.. but they run the show as much as the President does...

Derrick Broze has certainly picked out some of Bernie's weak spots. 3 out of 5.

Bernie could have turned the Great Debate around if after giving Hillary a pass on the emails he had said "Now wait a minute, I'm not done with you yet.  What that committee *should* be asking you about is what part did you play in the decision to assemble and arm a witches' brew of terrorists - including Al Qaida-linked groups - in Benghazi and to give them air cover to overthrow the Libyan government and utterly destroy the country?  What part did Ambassador Stevens play in the shipping of arms and terrorists from Libya to Syria to repeat the crime there? How was that connected to the attacks that killed him?  And what was your involvement in that?

"What I would demand is not the explanation for why you didn't keep those emails more secure.  I would demand to know what was in them!"

He didn't sieze that moment, and it passed.

Bernie's not ignorant.  Anyone who reads the New Yorker and Salon knows what gives.  Either he's soft on the Empire -  which  will be his Achilles heel - or he's determined not to let the campaign be about foreign policy but to keep it focused on the economic issues the country can unite around, the issues that none of the other candidates can deal with because they're all taking the billionaires' money.

Bernie's focus is not on how he will handle the Presidency.  He keeps telling us this campaign is not about him, it's about us.  If enough people demand he stop ducking the issues of Empire it's my hope that he will shift, not to pander to us but because he needs to speak for us, to be our voice.

QUESTION ONE:  Yes.  I do think that such a tax can be calibrated to both deter excessive speculation and return a reasonable revenue stream.  I do not know where the "sweet spot" is or how much total can be brought in, i.e., whether it would be enough to fully fund higher education without additional taxes or cost caps, but it would be a start.  Usually any policy that entails multiple human reactions will require adjustments for optimum performance.

QUESTION TWO:

Yes.  I support an increase in payroll taxes dedicated to current medical coverage AS A SUBSTITUTE for the amounts currently deducted from the same income for private coverage.  I expect the cost will be less once administrative redundancy and corporate profits are wrung out by government price controls.  I am not too concerned about no longer having access to futile treatments and unnecessary diagnostics.

There would be no tax increase to pay for minimum wage increases.  Those are paid for out of corporate profits and the salaries of CEOs, whose salaries need to be capped by law as they are in Europe.

QUESTION THREE:

No, I do not support punishing Ed Snowden for anything.  He should be treated to a ticker-tape parade as an American Hero.

QUESTION FOUR:

It's tricky from the text to make out just how far Sanders would go in support of Israel; certainly it seems that he's in favor of forcing Saudi Arabia to acknowledge their responsibility for ISIS, which is entirely the result of their domestic failures.  I recognize that there is no politician likely to get elected who is likely to cut Israel off the Congressional teat and force them to support themselves economically, politically, and militarily.  Pity, but that's the facts.  I doubt Sanders, despite his Jewish heritage, would be as bad as Hillary, who has been in bed with AIPAC entirely for the last three decades.

QUESTION FIVE:

Although I dislike the use of drones, I am old enough to understand that no would-be American president is going to be willing to completely renounce their use -- assassination is always so much more efficient than mass warfare.  I'd rather put Bernie in charge of deciding when and where to use them, than Hillary, Trump, or Jeb.

NON-QUESTION RECOMMENDATION:

Please indicate when links go to a self-loading video.  I DESPISE videos and will NOT sit through them.  By  loading themselves, they waste my limited and valuable download allowance for nothing.  PLEASE BE POLITE to your readers and do not waste services that they must pay for before even finding out what they are linked to.  Sticking your friends with the price of your ticket is a bad habit normally associated with CAPITALISM.

I cannot say I am impressed with Agorism as a social mechanism.  There is no such thing as a "free market" in reality, because all markets require rules and mechanisms of enforcement for fraud, breach of contract, and theft.  Counter-economics, on the other hand, is the province of all witches, wizards, and others who work in the mists where Faerie approaches Men.  People who do not legally exist can hardly apply for licenses to do what they are not permitted to do.  Especially if it's Impossible ;-).

Its interesting there are so many people like you who think they have the right to take and spend people's money without their permission. Should I give away most of your money without your permission and then give myself a metal for my "generosity" while I stand on a pedestal? Or, is that a right you wish to reserve for your self and/or your favorite class of people, the ruling class?

In the process all those born there by birthright found their home, their nation trashed and now forced to bring uo their children in a society they do not recognise.

The truth is this and their illusion "by voting you actually have choice", you don't it is the same bunch controlling the government the politicians become puppets in their hands.

Look for the one they hate the most though! Then blindly vote for them, policies count for nothing provided he will have an axe to grind with the rest of the incumbents. IT IS CALLED OPPOSTION TO THE STATUS QUO, THE BALANCE THAT HAS BEEN LOST OVER THE LAST 40 YEARS. Sanders is a counterfeit ' jewish 'immigrant whose parents ruined the countries they came from. He is arrogant, narcissstic. He imagines that his Talmud defines the worlld.

The Constitution and Bill of Rights gave refuge to his people, yet his people seek to demean that Christian founding.

Sanders speaks in an echo chamber, His compatriots wrote the 'Project for a New American Century,' fellow jews who ruin the Middle East and the USA.

I would point out that John Hopkins University reseach by an American of Ashkekenazi descent has proven that more than 90% of people who claim to be jew, as does Sanders, have  no DNA or legtmate link to Israel, semite.

Sanders is another ignorant carpet bagger, a fraud, although he is too igorant to comprehend his false history and yet so arrogant that he tells the USA how to ruin its Constiution, and Bill of  Rights.

To answer the questions:

Yes, Social Security can be fully funded to 2060 by lifting the cap on income subject to the tax. This is well known.

Yes, a financial transactions tax can do what is promised, at an extremely low rate, raising a lot of revenue and discouraging that frantic speculation, because each trade is subject to the tax. Benefits the investor, not the gambler.

I do not support questions that mischaracterize his position, such as, Do you support the euthanasia of my grandmother, as Bernie does? That is what your "simple questions" are.

One solution then let the system heal itself.

You close the gap between rich and poor.

The poor having no money in relative terms is the collapsed economy and using economic tools such as QE or any other that does not close this is a fail.

Now I would like to think I could become wealthy, but there has to be a limit to the level of wealth BECAUSE IN A WORLD OF FINITE RESOURCES THEY WHO TAKE EVERYTHING LEAVE NOTHING FOR ANYBODY ELSE AND THAT IS WAR! Go on clever politcians, if you do not prevent the continual trickle up or refuse to force the trickle down whatever you do to try and stimulate the economy has a limited effect before all the value has been siphoned up once again. Stupid taxpayer refuse to believe it but are on the hook for the debt this mechansim creates.

I guess anti-semitism is alive and well.  I am anti-Israel myself, because I believe they have too much power over our foreign policy, but Bernie was the first to boycott Netanyahu when House Republicans invited him to speak to them in February. He does not have dual citizenship with Israel, as do a lot of our legislators.

When, during the 2014 Gaza conflict,  Israel attacked killed hundreds of innocent people – including many women and children,” calling the bombings “disproportionate” and “completely unacceptable.”

In mid-July 2014, Sanders was one of just 21 Senators not to co-sponsor a resolution expressing support for Israel in the conflict with Hamas. The resolution passed on July 17 by unanimous consent, meaning that no roll call vote was taken on the measure.

Israel lobbyists have a hard time getting a meeting with him. Ben Chouake, leader of the hawkish pro-Israel group NORPAC said:

"He’s someone who’s sort of avoided everyone...he’s one of the few offices that, when we try to get an appointment to come talk to him, we just can’t get in… I don’t think he’s antagonistic or anything like that.”

My #1 issue BY FAR is the fact that our economy and domestic policy since the financial crisis has been driven almost entirely by MONETARY POLICY as enacted by the FED.  This policy has been devoted solely for the benefit of the perpetrators (bankers) and to further enrich the .01-1% investor class.  THAT'S IT.  And they've done a great job of accomplishing this goal.

TPTB have nearly removed FISCAL POLICY from the equation through ensuring gridlock, stalemate, hysterical levels of partisanship, paralysis, and dysfunction.  Their goal has been to guide the occupancy of Congressional seats by funding candidates on both sides to squash the chances of any meaningful FISCAL POLICY through this gridlock and stalemate.  The Citizen's United and McCutcheon decisions have just excacerbated this by making it that much easier to impliment.

I have yet to anyone even remotely sound like they HONESTLY CONSIDER INCOME INEQUALITY to be the biggest concern facing our economy.  Hillary is in Wall Street's pocket and everyone (should) know it. Every utterance by her about this is a popularist lie.  I've yet to see anyone who can match Sanders' record of grilling FED chairman hammering this issue home (Greenspan, Bernanke and Yellen).

Someone posted about Americans "awakening" and energizing the masses to demand their voices be heard.  Even someone who dislikes Sanders must admit that this is what he brings.

For those who counter this with Trump.  Have you EVER TRULY thought about how he would handle himself in the debates if he were the nominee?  I mean HONESTLY?  He would get slaughtered.  I believe Hillary would be a travesty as far as my #1 concern.  But Trump's "performance" in the debates as nominee would galvanize people to flock to Hillary when realizing that this man is unqualified to be president.  So that leaves some other Repub as the appropriate nominee.  And this group DOES NOT include anyone with an inspired position about the .01-1% situation.

It's one helluva f*cked up situation, but I'm going with Sanders as the least f*cked up option.

Bernie is as corrupt as they come. When he lived in Plainfield and was on welfare, he was given free firewood, all he had to do was cut it. Instead he sat around all summer complaining how good the rich have it. Then, when winter came he stole wood to heat his house from the woodpiles of hard working Vermonters.

The moment he got elected to the House he became embroiled in the house banking scandal.

Harry Truman said, "Anyone who gets rich in politics is a God damned crook..." Despite the absurd claims by sycophants that Bernie isn't rich, He keeps all the assettes in his wife's name to maintain the fiction he isn't rich. His Lake house alone, in the fashionable south side of Burlington, is worth more than what the pundits claim he is worth. When he ran against Mark Tarrant for his senate seat, during a debate Bernie asked the crowd if they wanted another rich guy in the senate, Tarrant replied, no matter who wins, a millionaire will hold the seat. Bernie just looked down. Bernie went from welfare to wealth by political office. By Harry Truman's definition, what does that make Bernie?

Is Bernie for or against corporate welfare?

Fully paid college for the masses sounds like corporate welfare to me.

Vehement critic of the Export/Import Bank.  Huge corporate welfare for GE, Boeing, and others  (who get enough Federal funding as it is and GE didn't even pay corporate income taxes for a few years running).

Liberals know the answers to these questions, but engage in "willfull stupidity" as MLK called it, to avoid the truth.   You can prove they know the truth by asking the right questions, as Columbo employed in the detective series, interrogators employ, psychiatrists understand.

Humans are short term greedy:

Socialism is short term greed implimented in government using political force.
Capitalism is short term greed implemented among the people using individual thinking and productivity as a force.

It goes to show just how horrible Hillary is when a war-maniac commie psycho like Sanders is gathering large crowds (nearly all white liberals) and gaining fairly well in the polls.

It goes to show how uninformed people like you are when they describe a democratic socialist like Bernie, who represents the kind of policies found Denmark, Sweden and Finland as a "war-maniac commie".  I guess you missed that he is the only major candidate that voted against the Iraq war, too. Hardly a war monger, he says that while military force is sometime needed, it should be the absolute last resort, and has also said that the bloated defense budget represents an improper prioritization of defense issues at a time when the country is plagued by pressing domestic challenges

How uninformed must YOU be when you won't see he's an evil old bastard out to enslave you?

Oh, that's right: YOU WANT TO BE A SLAVE.

You are a fool, an ignoramus. You deserve to be a slave.

OK then.  Let's just keep directing trillions to the banking industry and billions upon billions to the MIC, multi-national corporations, the surveillance industry, the pharmaceuticals and everyone but the working class & what used to be the middle class.

Bernie Sanders stands against all the parties mentioned above.

You mean the Sanders who stood with a very small minority voting against the Iraq War and also against the Patriot Act?

Yeah. Bomb the Balkans Bernie. That one. He's such a psychotic war maniac his staff quit on him in the '90s.

The same one who voted against Bush II's wars. Then he turned around and voted to fund them all when they became Obama's wars.
