South Carolina's 'Female Student-Flipping' Cop Has "History Of Aggressive, Violent Behavior"

If you still haven’t heard of the psychotic violence perpetrated on a high school girl by Senior Deputy Ben Fields, it’s time to get up to speed. If you want a gauge as to how far this society has fallen, this is all you need to see.
First, a little background from the AP:
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A school resource officer in South Carolina is on leave and his boss has asked the Justice Department and the FBI to investigate after a video showed him flipping a female high school student from her desk to the floor and dragging her across a classroom.
The sheriff’s department said no one was hurt during the confrontation, which was captured on cellphones by several students and posted online. One student said it all started when the girl pulled out her cellphone and refused her math teacher’s request to hand it over during class.
During the moments captured on video, Fields can be seen standing over the girl, asking her to stand up. The girl remains seated and the officer wraps a forearm around her neck. The desk then flips and the girl is slammed backward onto the floor, where the officer tosses her toward the front of the classroom and handcuffs her.
A second student who verbally objected to the girl’s treatment also was arrested.
Go ahead and read that again.
Both girls were charged with disturbing schools and released to their parents. Their names were not released, but the second student, Niya Kenny, told WLTX-TV that Deputy Fields’ use of force shocked her. Her mother, Doris Kenny, said she’s proud her daughter was “brave enough to speak out against what was going on.”
Lt. Curtis Wilson confirmed that Fields is white and the students are black, but told The Associated Press in an email to “keep in mind this is not a race issue.”
Tony Robinson Jr., who recorded the final moments of the confrontation, told WLTX that it began when the teacher tried to confiscate a phone the girl took out during class. She refused, so he called an administrator, he said.
Welcome to America’s school system. A teacher can’t even handle a slightly disruptive student on his own without calling cop into the classroom. Never once in my entire life did I see a cop called into a classroom, despite seeing chaos that makes “not handing over a cellphone” look like the equivalent of putting a shiny apple on the teacher’s desk. Absolutely revolting.

To make matters worse, this cop has a history of aggressive, violent behavior. As the AP noted:
Fields has been accused of excessive force and racial bias before, but has prevailed in court so far.
Trial is set for January in the case of an expelled student who claims Fields targeted black students and falsely accused him of being a gang member in 2013. In another case, a federal jury sided with Fields after a black couple accused him of excessive force and battery during a noise complaint arrest in 2005. A third lawsuit, dismissed in 2009, involved a woman who accused him of battery and violating her rights during a 2006 arrest.
And that’s just the start of it. He attacked a veteran and his wife back in 2005, as reported by the New York Daily News:
Martin said the beefy officer “snapped” after he called him “dude,” and slammed him on the ground. He began pepper-spraying the helpless veteran, but Martin said he was trained in the military to resist the chemicals. An entire canister of the stuff failed to disable Martin.
“He became even more violent because I didn’t react like most people would,” Martin told the News.
His wife at the time, Tashiana Rogers, witnessed the fracas, and ran outside to take photos of the violent encounter with her cellphone.
That’s when Fields called for his partner to “get her black ass,” Martin said. The officer grabbed her phone and deleted the photos.
Fields then called for backup.
“I’m watching my wife get beat up in front of me, and there’s nothing I can do about it,” Martin said.
During the arrest, Martin told Fields the rough arrest would lead to a lawsuit.
“I’m glad Johnny Cochran is dead,” Fields shot back, according to Martin.
The officer also told Martin as he was cuffed that “you’re just another notch in my belt,” according to court documents.
“That was shocking. I was definitely shocked that the jury did not find in her favor,” Mobley said.
Rogers was shocked too. She worries Fields was allowed to operate with impunity — giving him freedom to terrorize high school students.
“I felt like if he had felt the consequences from 2005, this wouldn’t happen today,” she told the Daily News.
Precisely. This is exactly what happens when people in power fail to be held accountable.
Yet it gets even worse. As the Daily News reports, Ben Fields actually received the Richland School District Two Culture of Excellence Award from the Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School in 2014.

I agree, it is a little too "convenient" that the behavior she engaged in, didn't get recorded. Also note the complete lack of surprise or reaction from the guy in the desk behind her... he fully expected (whatever it was that she did) to result in such a situation.

May I point out that this incident has the shitty scent of socialism all over it? 1.) Socialist government shcool indoctrination system... check 2.) Socialist Instiution of Law Enforcement (not to be confused with the protection of person and property services)... check 3.) Assuming here on this one, Socialist government subsidized Ghettos.
Also the bootlickers that defend the costumed "authority" (where ever that came from), should listen to their conscience and contemplate what their eyes see and rethink their obedient kneejerk responses to this. What ever wrong the female did, did not deserve or warrant the violence initiated by the male.

Not sure what's more disturbing, the girl being tossed around by the guy wearing a costume drunken and high on the mythical illusion of authority or the comments here being made by delusional copsucking bootlickers afraid of speaking out against the socialist law enforcer. Their moral conscience and judgement is heavily clouded by the erroneous belief in the myth of authority. It's not really their fault, it stems back to the early years of their childhood being indoctrinated to believe such fairytales. Even in their adult lives they're bombarded incessantly with the same ideology which is perpetuated by media and other hierarchical social institutions that reaffirm this myth. Some how some way I was able to wake up from this bullshit lie. I can only hope that others do the same.

Fair points. The country is failing, the rule of law is failing, and .gov is failing. As this occurs, .gov is resorting to the threat (and application of) force to the limit of (and beyond) the law. China and Russia are resolved to stress the US .gov in such a way that the natural consequences of the illegal and profligate actions will destroy the US. For those of us wishing for a Republic with strong civil liberties, the rule of law, and an exceptional populace, the time will come to push home our desire. Until then, it's appropriate to wait and prepare.

Cops should not be inside schools unless a crime has been committed/suspected. Being disrespectful to a teacher is NOT a crime. Refusing to sit/stand in a classroom is NOT a crime. It is an item for school-administered discipline. If a public school cant get this done, it should not be operational.
'Diversity', and the view that dumb unmotivated niggers do better when mixed with smarter, motivated whites/asians/indians (dot, not a feather), is a flawed ideology that at best creates inefficiency across multiple dimensions.

Cops MUST have better rules of engagement. They must never escalate a confrontation to physical violence in the absence of a physical threat of violence. Further, they must be accountable for every round they fire, they must NEVER be paid by the taxpayer while an investigation into crimes against citizens is underway, and they must carry insurance for jury awards against them relating to crimes against citizens, including excessive use of force.

Give him the standard treatment: hand picked grand jury to find "no wrongdoing", a pay raise, extra COLA for his pension, and free college for his kids. But in all seriousness, he should have called the principal.
These guys should tested for drug, alcohol and steroid use on a regular basis and especially after violent encounters with the public.

You complain about the lack of discipline in classromms and then complain even louder when someone tries to actually instill discipline.
It would be a better solution to be able to suspend-expel disruptive students (depending on the severity and frequency of the disruption), but schools now have their hands tied and are stuck warehousing these kids. However, that was clearly excessive force. She wasn't offering the kind of resistance that comes close to warranting that level of force. That's not really an answer to your question, but I'm not a cop hater either. The way things are going, you couldn't pay me enough to do that job, at least not in any crappy community.
Update: I half-heartedly tried to find the lead-up to this footage but all the clips I came across start at this point. From another angle I did notice as he wrapped his arm around her head she got in a weak punch to his face which is probably what set him off. I can't help but think this would have worked out better for him if he'd tried lifting her out of the chair from the arm.
Expell her from the class, or perhaps the ability to return to the school? If not immediately, within 24 hours. But "Obey or Die" is the theme presented by cops. Tunnel vision or Adult Attention Deficit Disorder seems to run rampart on threads. Who is training the cops? Funding from ADL sends US cops to Israel for their training.

The problem is that the teen would not stop using her cell phone in class and would not listen to commands from the teachers, adminstrators, and initially from the cop. While we may dislike cops, and think he was excessive - what would you do in the face of such defiance?
By firing the cop, we have just encouraged more students to be defiant. We have discouraged a large number of potential teachers from going into that field. We have discouraged an even larger number who might have wanted to be para professionals who try to help with special needs kids. We have just encouraged cops and anyone in a position of authority in schools to throw up their hands and walk away whenever a student does not listen to their verbal orders. In short - we have destroyed any chance of discipline in any school in the nation, and reduced the quality of any future teachers by discouraging good ones from entering such an uncontrollable environment. Follow that through and we will end up with more uneducated people, incapable of holding a job, who end up on welfare for their entire lives.
A huge victory indeed!

If you own a business in South Carolina and wanted to hire a high school graduate, what would you be getting if that student went to this high school?
Every student will have learned that they do not have listen to instructions from a boss.
Every student will have learned that they can use their cell phone all day long.
Every student will have learned that if they resist, they can get their supervisor fired.
Every student will have had their education in a disruptive environment, meaning that they lack any skills or education background.

South Carolina has a law against 'disrupting classrooms'. The law has a consequence of being arrested. The student clearly was disruptive.
When a police officer decides to make an arrest, and the person being arrested does not follow the officer's verbal commands, the courts give the officer wide discretion in deciding the amount of force to be used during the arrest. (Whether you agree with the law or not - most 'bad' cops get off because of this law).
I suspect that this incident has made two new millionaires - the cop and the teenager will both get seven figure settlements. The losers will be the taxpayers of South Carolina.

And this case ? Call in the Principal, tell the cop to stand outside and have the Principal quietly escort her to his office and then expel her. Tell me why that shouldn't at least be tried.
It was. She did not listen to the teacher OR the administrators - but kept sitting in her chair and playing on her cell phone.
Expelling a kid from class causing them to repeat the class or quit school is the punishment that fits a crime of this magnitude if this teenage girl has a reputation of being disruptive, poor student (misses a lot of school, under performs, drug/gang activity). Stop agreeing with the fucking entity trying to destroy your country asshole.

The arrest was affected with excessive force. The fact the teenage girl hit the nice man doesn't enter into the force used - as seen in the video.

The arrest was affected with the use of overwhelming, not excessive force. Legal distinction. The first ensures compliance with an absolute minimum of retaliation, the other is illegal.
She punched him, he slammed her to the ground.
If he had then kicked her or beaten her with a baton or shot her it would have been excessive.
People need to study the force continuum that the police are using so they know what they are talking about.
