Former CIA Deputy Director Gives A Stunning Reason Why Obama Has Not Attacked ISIS' Oil Infrastructure

Tyler Durden's picture

As we pointed out a week ago, even before the downing of the Russian jet by a Turkish F-16, the most important question that nobody had asked about ISIS is where is the funding for the terrorist organization coming from, and more importantly, since everyone tacitly knows where said funding is coming from (as we have revealed in an ongoing series of posts "Meet The Man Who Funds ISIS: Bilal Erdogan, The Son Of Turkey's President", "How Turkey Exports ISIS Oil To The World: The Scientific Evidence" and "ISIS Oil Trade Full Frontal: "Raqqa's Rockefellers", Bilal Erdogan, KRG Crude, And The Israel Connection") few on the US-led Western Alliance have done anything to stop the hundreds of millions in oil sale proceeds from funding the world's best organized terrorist group.

We concluded by asking "how long until someone finally asks the all important question regarding the Islamic State: who is the commodity trader breaching every known law of funding terrorism when buying ISIS crude, almost certainly with the tacit approval by various "western alliance" governments, and why is it that these governments have allowed said middleman to continue funding ISIS for as long as it has?"

To be sure, the only party that actually did something to halt ISIS' oil infrastructure was Russia, whose bombing raids of Islamic State oil routes may not only have contributed to the fatal attack by Turkey of the Russian Su-24 (as the curtailment of ISIS' oil flows led to a big hit in the funds collected by the biggest middleman in the region, Turkey, its president and his son, Bilal not to mention Israel which may have been actively buying ISIS oil over the past year) but prompted questions why the bombing campaign by the US-led alliance had been so woefully incapable of hitting ISIS where it truly hurts: its funding.

This past week, someone finally came up with a "reason" why the Obama administration had been so impotent at denting the Islamic State's well-greased oil machine. In an interview on PBS' Charlie Rose on Tuesday, Rose pointed out that before the terrorist attacks in Paris, the U.S. had not bombed ISIS-controlled oil tankers, to which the former CIA deputy director Michael Morell responded that Barack Obama didn’t order the bombing of ISIS’s oil transportation infrastructure until recently because he was concerned about environmental damage.

Yes, he really said that:

We didn’t go after oil wells, actually hitting oil wells that ISIS controls, because we didn’t want to do environmental damage, and we didn’t want to destroy that infrastructure.

In other words, one can blame such recent outbreaks of deadly terrorist activity as the Paris bombings and the explosion of the Russian passenger airplane over Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on Obama's hard line stance to not pollute the atmosphere with the toxic aftermath of destroyed ISIS infrastructure.

Brilliant.

As the Daily Caller adds, Morell also said the White House was concerned about destroying infrastructure that could be used by the Syrian people. Such profound concern for a people which has been traumatized for the past 5 years courtesy of a US-funded effort to destabilize the nation courtesy of US-armed "rebels" whose only purpose has been the deposition of yet another elected president, and where the emergence of the CIA-created Islamic State has led to the biggest wave of refugees to emerge, and flood Europe, since World War II.

But back to Obama's alleged decision that not polluting the environment is more important than halting the funding artery that keeps ISIS in business.

Morell continued "Prior to Paris, there seemed to be a judgment that … look, we don’t want to destroy these oil tankers because that’s infrastructure that’s going to be necessary to support the people when ISIS isn’t there anymore, and it’s going to create environmental damage. And we didn’t go after oil wells - actually hitting oil wells that ISIS controls because we didn’t want to do environmental damage and we didn’t want to destroy that infrastructure, right.”

Then we started asking questions, others joined in, and everything changed: "So now we’re hitting oil in trucks and maybe you get to the point where you say we also have to hit oil wells. So those are the kind of tough decisions you have to make."

Of course, the lunacy gets even more ridiculous when one recalls that none other than one of the democrat frontrunners for president, Bernie Sanders, suggested in all seriousness that the real cause for terrorism is climate change, an allegation subsequently echoed by both UK's Prince Charles and none other than the chief of the UN, Ban Ki-moon himself.

So here is the purported logic: climate change leads to terrorism, but one can't eradicate the primary funding source of the biggest terrorist threat in the world, the Islamic State, because of dangers it may lead to even more environmental damage and climate change.

We are truly speechless at this idiocy.

Meanwhile, the real reasons behind ISIS massive wealth build up: the illicit oil trade facilitated by, and involving NATO-member state Turkey, whose president and his son collect billions in illegal profits by arranging the charter of Islamic State oil to Israel and other international buyers of ISIS' cheap oil, and which involves such "highly respected" commodity traders as Trafigura and Vitol, continues to this day, and only Putin has done anything to put a dent in it.

For those who can't believe any of this (and it took us quite a while to realize this is not some elaborate prank) here is the clip proving the former CIA deputy director actually said it all.

if there is one thing this war has taught me, is that you cant look at every group and paint a broad bush. In every group there are good factions and bad factions. Muslims the shia are obviously the good guys as are the alawites. Hezbollah has protected the christians and other minority groups in lebanon. The russians which were viewed as bad are beign seen the world over as the good guys. And this applies for various groups and sub groups.

This is what the battle of good and evil looks like folks. It is war which knows no borders and no particular ethnic groupings. remember the true root definition of evil is the diabolical. Those who want to seek peace thruogh trading and exchange and those which seemly cause chaos and suffering because they are at the behest of their "Master"

Now here’s the funny part about the CeyeA. Everything is a big secret, and I mean everything. None of the agency knows what the other parts and pieces of the agency is up to. Nobody is sure what the o-fishy-o lie is supposed to be or who the black ops are backing with what resources, when.

If it all looks like one big clusterfuck from outside of the agency that’s because it is.

Of course, we could all just stand back and laugh at the sheer ineptitude and comic one liners like Mr. Morell’s except for one thing. A lot of death and misery is inflected on the planet earth at the hands of ‘our’ spooks who can’t actually tell the people that write their paychecks what it is they are doing on ‘our’ behalf.

Funny shit, but not so much when you think about which party is actually getting ‘played’ here.

here's Reuters today

Russian air strikes kill at least 30 in stepped up raids in northwest Syria

a article about a Russian airstrike after it's jet was shot down.

Air strikes believed to have been carried out by Russian jets killed at least 30 people in the town of Ariha in northwestern Syria on Sunday, rescue workers in the rebel-held area said, part of an escalation of Russian strikes near the Turkish border.

In separate air strikes closer to the frontier with Turkey, jets believed to be Russian hit a truck depot that was also struck on Thursday, destroying 10 trailers and killing five people, a rebel in the area said.

Officials at the Russian defense ministry could not immediately be reached for comment. Syrians in rebel-held areas of northwestern Syria near the Turkish frontier have reported intensified air strikes in the days since Turkey downed a Russian warplane near the border.

The air strike on Ariha in Idlib province wounded dozens more people, striking a market place, the rescue workers said. Mohamed Queissi, a rescue worker with the Civil Defense service which operates in rebel-held areas, said the bodies of 31 people had been identified, with 12 more awaiting identification.

"The vendors were shouting loudly as people were buying and selling and suddenly we heard the sound of the planes and in less than a second the jets struck and there was deadly silence.

"I saw people thrown in the street, strewn corpses and terrified children crying and shouting for their parents," said Mohamed Amine Qurabi, 25, a second Civil Defense worker.

Both were contacted by Reuters and spoke from Ariha.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which reports on the war, gave an initial death toll of 18 people including four children and "a leading opposition" member. It said the toll was likely to rise, with a total of 60 killed and wounded.

Ariha fell to rebels in May during an advance that resulted in the whole of Idlib province falling to the rebellion against President Bashar al-Assad. Rebels in Idlib include the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front. The province is not a stronghold of the Islamic State group that controls wide areas of eastern Syria.

Russia began a major aerial campaign on Sept. 30 to help its ally Assad, who suffered a series of setbacks earlier this year including the loss of Idlib province and areas near the coast which is of crucial strategic importance.

Moscow says its target is Islamic State but the overwhelming majority of its strikes have been against other opponents of Assad.

The Syrian army, backed by Iranian and Hezbollah fighters, have in tandem launched ground offensives across areas of western Syria that are mostly controlled by insurgents other than Islamic State, including groups backed by Assad's foreign enemies, including the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

One of these offensives is south of Aleppo, around 50 km (30 miles) east of Ariha, where government forces backed by Iranian fighters are seeking to advance westwards toward the main Damascus-Aleppo highway. Ariha is located on the main road linking Aleppo to the coast.

Residents and rebels say warplanes believed to be Russian have stepped up raids on residential areas in several major cities in northwestern Syria that are within a radius of 10 to 30 km from the Turkish border.

These towns, where Turkish goods are sold, have helped to sustain the economy of rebel-held northwest. They are also home to functioning hospitals and councils that run the rebel-held areas. Towns hit in recent days include Sarmada and Dana, and others in the northern and western Aleppo countryside near the Turkish border such as Azaz and Atareb, residents say.

The targets have included areas close to two main border crossings between the rebel-held northwest and Turkey.

The Syrian army said on Saturday that Turkey had increased weapons supplies to rebels recently, saying that they were being smuggled into the country in shipments claimed to be humanitarian aid.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/11/29/us-mideast-crisis-syria-ariha-...

Reuters based it's article on what 'rescue workers' and rebels (and the infamous Syrian Observatory for Human Rights), in the areas that the rebels control told the reporters, who think these 'rescue workers' are being objective, have no idea whether they are rebels themselves, and what the rebels would do to them if they wanted to give a different story.

THUS THE MSM, LIKE THE MEDIA IN GERMANY IN THE 30'S, IS OFFICIALLY AN ORGAN OF THE US/EU.

It cannot be a representative government of Americans, because apparently it is very concerned about what happens in places like Iraq and now Syria. $500MMs *appropriated* in a so-called 'defense' budget to arm  mercenaries to hijack Syria because the "US" apparently does not like Assad, even though Assad poses absolutely *no risk at all* to people who are actually *living* in America.

If Assad poses no risk to Americans, and if Saddam did not have WMDs, and therefore, in fact, never *did* possess a threat to Americans that are supposed to be the object of the "US" government's affection, for what reason, pray tell, does the "US" engage in these sorts of trouble making endeavors, where absolutely no good comes out of it for Americans?

Hence, I have just shown that the "US" is not a representative government of Americans. The "US" represents something else. This cannot be in dispute.

The question of who and what is almost irrelevant, because that wastes a lot of time. If Americans don't like the "US" representing foreign interests, Americans need to shut down the "US".

Of course, I am a one trick pony, and always say the same thing. The zionist insurgency, with their fake money and greater israel ambitions and NWO intentions are at the epicenter of what the "US" is. The "US" is *not* American. It is a jewish state, operating inside of the united States federal government, which like a virus, has literally taken over the federal government and is controlled by foreign interests, of the jew, for the jew and by the jew. What is the petro dollar, other than another way to express jew fiat federal reserve 'money'? israel is all jew, all day, so that is easy. And as for the Syrian pipeline, that works for the jew too, because they hate the burgeoning Christian Russia. What an insult to all the hard work of the Trotsyites, right?

So, to answer the question, why didn't "the US" target 'ISIS' oil operations and shut down there main source of funding? ISIS is an asset to:

1) Get rid of Assad and get that pipeline going to further weaken and if possible economically destroy Christian Mother Russia

2) Keep the ME a constant destabilized train wreck so "the US" can install jew/israel/zionist friendly puppets in iraq and syria to further along the talmud zionist jew wet dream in re the Yinnon Project (if I have the name right there)\

3) to break the gaining momentum by the rebel states (Syria, Iran, Russia, et al) who want their oil sales denominated in something other than the fed res note

Of course, "the US" government would never say this is what they are up to. So we get these total b*s* interviews, with these total zio wanks, who just blow massive amounts of smoke out their a$$, and say things like "well, yeah, um, ... hmm ... OH! GOT IT! Barry said he was concerned about the environment"

When "the US" can get 1-3 above, honestly, wtf cares about the 'environment'?

---

But if I am one of the jews who have taken over "the US" (they occupy 70% or so of the US govt, the rest, with few, but essentially moot exceptions, are just fronts, terrified to speak against the foreign power that has taken control), and I am watching 'Resident Evil 7' - new vids from the most recent Black Friday, I am thinking, "we f*ing own this country. we turned them all into a bunch of g*d*ed animals."

We are in Syria to prevent Russia's Gazprom from getting a pipeline through Syria and thus giving them an outlet on the Mediterranean.  That's what it is all about:  To prevent Russia from being capitalistic.

Too late to edit ... there are 2 pipelines. The Qatar version and the Iran Iraq Syria line. From what I gather Assad rejected the former and supported the latter, which Russia also liked. The zio allies don't want the line that was approved built, and apparently the Syrian nightmare began about the time construction was set to begin. Russia may lose substantial nat gas income if either the pending line is not built or if the alternative is. Since zio west is desperate to crush Putin, it makes sense for them to show up and do what they can to screw up a decision by a sovereign nation that it wanted. The zio trolls still at the bottom of everything. Just needed to tune up the pipeline issue a bit.

What the heck. Has the ruling American establishment  (under Obama) turned plained stupid? Since when did the Americans start to care about environmental issues when they drop their bombs around the world?

Perhaps this is the new American rules in modern warfare. Yes we can drop bombs, but there can off course be no collateral damage, no dead, no injured and no environmental damage and we cannot drop bombs if it is a holy muslim holyday out of respect for their hate inspired political religion. An we can certainly not hit their mosks, because we all know that the mosks are used ase their headquarters and hideout centers.

Meanwhile  their income is safe and sound and (as a result) thousands of innocent people around the world keep on  dying.

So what has America become? Their multi billion dollar spying programs has yet to prevent any terror , their multi billion war machines and advanced bombs can’t be used and the damaging political correctness and the ideas of a new world order is choking them. Environmental issues is their new drug which is poisoning their brains..

No wonder we have to turn to Russia. It’s the only country left where plain madness hasn’t damaged peoples brains.

I will check the news about Turkey - closing the Dardanelles today.  if the story is halfway true, Ive got a big problem with NATO and the USA being pulled into a conflict started by Erdogan's Misadventures-On-Steroids.

As far as the CIA statement is concerned, there is a big difference between bombing oil rigs and bombing oil tankers.  Yes, if you set a lot of rigs on fire, there is a big environmental impact.  but a bunch of oil tankers ... thats an acceptable consequence - given the threat posed by ISIS.

Apparently the US Governmernt is squeamish about attacking ISIS.  However, Erdogan has no problems initiating a major war with Russia.

This overpaid creature reminds me of an old quote about the enemy within:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.” (Cicero)

It is obvious to any informed person that the traitors among us intend to make war for their international interests, like an arsonist burns down a building to get rid of the evidence against the criminals, as per dual citizen Larry Silverstein's stunt in NYC.

We know debt and war profits the biggest criminals and traitors most. They now just come out with any flimsy excuse to fool the uninformed, and buy more time to get away with their crimes for a little bit longer.

I reckon the IMF decision on China will light the fuse, one way or another.

Iraq is already an environmental wasteland. Having spent several years working there, her are just a few of the highlights

1. Depleted Uranian

2. Oil burn pits

3/ flared gas (enough to power entire UK each day is flared off)

4. solid waste pollution (no trash system)

5/ Hazzardous solid waste (dumped in middle of desert at random)

6. MASSIVE VOC pollution at all refineries, drill pads and pipeline routes

Iraq oil industry has many practices that are not allowed in developed countries

MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT THIS

Cameron to order RAF airstrikes against ISIS leadership in Syria – media

Cameron revealed his hand by identifying his targets as "the leadership" of ISIS. I have said many times, the rank and file ISIS dude doesn't know he is working for the CIA.  Only the ISIS leadership knows what ISIS has done comes in orders through layers of operative from Langley, Virginia.

While these so-called leaders have no proof Obama and Brennan personally gave orders to them,  if they start singing, the media and the lesser members of NATO will realize they have been played for fools.

If ISIS is an American construct and only terrorizes where and when they are told to, then all the weapons the NATO members bought only went to enrich American defense corporations.

Putin pulled aside the curtain and revealed the CIA pushing buttons and pulling levers to animate the terrorists.

Soon the CIA will move the show from off-Broadway in Syria to Broadway itself: Downtown Paris and Brussels.

They also want to eliminate the ISIS leadership before those leaders go to Putin with their tales of western deceit.

How they took orders from the CIA.  And then passed it off as terrorist-originated.

Today Cameron (himself a dupe of Washington) announced that England would join the fray and also target the potential stool pigeons.

DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES.

Quite right bid.

What's odd about Cameron's attempt to bomb Syria is that - according to several news reports a day or so ago - the US and France suddenly ceased air strikes in Syria since Putin brought in his S-400 missiles and "Krasukha-4 broadband multifunctional jamming equipment", because of the risks.

It could be that for the past 7 months the US military have been thinking that an adversary's plane has to pass over the targeted ship to knock out its electronics.
