Russia Bans Soros Foundation As A "Threat To National Security And Constitutional Order"
Following Russia's official retaliation to the Turkish downing of its jet a week ago, in which Putin issued an executive order limiting employment for Turkish workers, restricting Turkish organizations, and reducing the amount of bilateral trade with Ankara, perhaps a far more notable development took place earlier today when the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office issued a statement in which it recognized George Soros’s Open Society Institute and another affiliated organization as "undesirable groups", banning Russian citizens and organizations from participation in any of their projects.
In a statement released on Monday, prosecutors said the activities of the Open Society Institute and the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation were a threat to the foundations of Russia’s Constitutional order and national security. They added that the Justice Ministry would be duly informed about these conclusions and would add the two groups to Russia’s list of undesirable foreign organizations.

According to RT, prosecutors launched a probe into the activities of the two organizations - both sponsored by the well-known US financier George Soros - in July this year, after Russian senators approved the so-called “patriotic stop-list” of 12 groups that required immediate attention over their supposed anti-Russian activities. Other groups on the list included the National Endowment for Democracy; the International Republican Institute; the National Democratic Institute; the MacArthur Foundation and Freedom House.
Open Society is not the first: in late July, the Russian Justice Ministry recognized the US National Endowment for Democracy as an undesirable group after prosecutors discovered the US NGO had spent millions on attempts to question the legitimacy of Russian elections and tarnish the prestige of national military service.
The Law on Undesirable Foreign Organizations came into force in early June this year. It requires the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Foreign Ministry to draw up an official list of undesirable foreign organizations and outlaw their activities. Once a group is recognized as undesirable, its assets in Russia must be frozen, its offices closed and the distribution of any of its materials must be banned. That said, it is doubtful that Soros still has any active assets in Russia - his foundation, which emerged in Russia in its early post-USSR years in the mid-1990s, wrapped up active operations in 2003 when Putin cemented his control on power.
If the ban is violated, the personnel of the outlawed group and any Russian citizens who cooperate with them could face heavy fines, or even prison terms in the case of repeated or aggravated offences.
And while it is doubtful that Soros will be making landfall in Moscow any time soon and thus be subject to an arrest warrant, it is notable that the first financial spillover effect from the year's most dramatic geopolitical event involves note other than the famed "globalizer" and the person who as recent hacked emails divulged was the puppet-master behind the Ukraine presidential coup.
Will the US retaliate in kind and expand its year-long sanctions against Russia as a result as the world continues to careen into fragmented, multi-polar chaos? Or will there be another provocation between NATO-member Turkey and Russia as a result, perhaps one involving Russian ship transit through the Boshporus? With events now moving fast, we should have an answer in the very near future.

The incongruity lately has been that Putin, an enemy of democracy and internal dissent, has nonetheless been making a string of decisions and statements that I heartily applaud. Sometimes he seems the only actor on the world stage with any sense. Soros is evil, and Putin seems the first to notice.
So, although I cannot turn a blind eye to his assassination or oppression of political opponents, yet I find myself very thankful that he provides a counterweight to the absolute stupidity being shown throughout the Western world.
I do hope he comes to his senses with respect to support for Iran, however. Nukes in the hands of the Iranians will not end well.

I was in agreement with you right up to your last point. Iran has the same right to nuclear weapons as any other soveriegn nation. It's the US I don't trust with nukes, they have a tendency to actually use them.

The US pushes this BS because saying that the US has to overthrow Iran to stop their nuclear weapons program is an easier sell than saying that Iran sits atop a vast lake of oil, and US corporations want to steal it.
I have no idea what the US intelligence services are saying, because they don't invite me to their briefings. What they say publicly I put no stock in. Maybe you have an inside line. What I do know, is that by their own admission, the Iranians are pursuing nukes. I believe them - it's not the kind of thing you would brag about idly, I would think.

So, there I was, 18 years old, and living in a shitty civil war torn country. Not giving a fuck about anything, me and few of my friends managed to print a computer magazine and keep it going for a while. It was impossible to make money with it, and we never did it for the money anyway. It was a good 'distraction' from everything around us, and it also helped other curious kids. This was before Internet became popular/accessible, so good information was not so easy to obtain.
Around that time, Soros Foundation 'appeared' in our country and started usual advertising and promises how they will give money to 'promising' projects made by young people. Of course, we had an amazing thing (it was really hard to make a printed computer magazine while having civil war and sanctions, heh) and were certain that we would easily qualify for grant.
We got rejected. A guy printing black and white A4 pamphlet saying shit about government got the money.
I was lucky enough to learn early how these pieces of shit work.

Switching from foreign affairs to domestic issues, another thing that Soros has done with his funding was to give tens of millions of dollars to "marijuana legalization" groups, in order that those kinds of controlled opposition would steer that movement into becoming effectively Prohibition 2.0, based on Reefer Madness 2.0 ...
Soros was able to provide sufficient funding for his preferred kinds of organizations, promoting his preferred kinds of bullshit, to enable those groups to get to the head of the bandwagon regarding the "legalization of marijuana," in order to lead that movement towards being neutralized and neutered, in in order to "legalize, regulate and tax" in ways which tend to end up making rich people richer: trending towards legalized cartels to replace the old illegal cartels.
Soros' relatively massive funding of some of the up-start "marijuana legalization" organizations became a kind of Trojan Horse. The people who campaigned on the basis of more Hemp Truth for decades were pushed to the background by those organizations who were more willing to compromise with all the old Huge Lies, because those sorts of groups were the ones that got the big bucks from the bad billionaires, like Soros.
It is one of the main reasons for being extremely pessimistic about the most probable foreseeable futures for civilization, that the banksters are quite able to be able to buy up control over the apparent "opposition." (That is nothing new, of course, as illustrated by how, about a Century ago, the banksters funded the Women's Temperance Movements, in order to enable alcohol prohibition to benefit the banksters and their buddies.)
That Soros was able and willing to spend hundreds of millions of the billions he made from speculating in the financial markets on advancing his political agenda merely illustrated some of the vicious feedback, looping spirals of POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS, which have already become so bad that there are NO politically practical ways to stop them from continuing to get even worse still, (although, in the case of Russia, they are reasonably attempting to protect themselves from that.)
Within all NATO countries, the vicious spirals of POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS have resulted in those countries becoming too terminally sick and insane to be able to recover from the degree to which they have thereby become so crazy and corrupt as to approach runaway criminal insanities.
For instance, pretty well all of the big environmental groups can no longer be trusted in any of the NATO countries, due to how their funding has corrupted them. The ability of the funding to drive any organization to either accept the big bucks in return for favours, or be overwhelmed by other groups that do accept those big bucks from the bad billionaires, has resulted in every area I know about ending up like that, including the "legalize marijuana" movements, as merely one more relatively simple example of that pattern of social facts.
These so called NGOs stir up things and facilitate so called 'spontaneous revolutions'. Often the people's desire for such revolutions is genuine. But the people are just pawns. After a revolution has succeeded a puppet regime in put in place. Often with 'reformed' previous politicians. Cause revolutions are never continued by the people that won them but by puppets. And then the locus moves on to another revolution. Nothing much changing for the population but hey, at least they are free and have access to 'choice' and endless amounts of debt that will keep them slaves for the rest of their lives.
