NYT: Americans With Assault Rifles Should "Give Them Up For The Good Of Their Fellow Citizens"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Matt Vespa via Townhall.com,

Well, it seems the media’s horrific campaign of inaccuracy hasn’t stopped. According to Reuters, for the first time in nearly a century, The New York Times editorial board took their plea for gun bans to the front page on Saturday, calling our nation’s inaction on gun control a “moral outrage and a national disgrace.” No, we shouldn’t be surprised that they decided to follow the likes of the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times with their own inane call to arms for gun control. And we shouldn’t be shocked that they want policies that employ confiscatory measures, while also banning an entire class of firearms, specifically assault rifles and certain types of ammunition [emphasis mine]:

It is a moral outrage and a national disgrace that civilians can legally purchase weapons designed specifically to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency. These are weapons of war, barely modified and deliberately marketed as tools of macho vigilantism and even insurrection.
America’s elected leaders offer prayers for gun victims and then, callously and without fear of consequence, reject the most basic restrictions on weapons of mass killing, as they did on Thursday. They distract us with arguments about the word terrorism. Let’s be clear: These spree killings are all, in their own ways, acts of terrorism.

[…]

It is not necessary to debate the peculiar wording of the Second Amendment. No right is unlimited and immune from reasonable regulation.

Certain kinds of weapons, like the slightly modified combat rifles used in California, and certain kinds of ammunition, must be outlawed for civilian ownership. It is possible to define those guns in a clear and effective way and, yes, it would require Americans who own those kinds of weapons to give them up for the good of their fellow citizens.

First, let’s give it up for the New York Times, and their like-minded colleagues in the media–and in politics–for driving up gun sales. Undoubtedly, after all of this nonsensical discussion about gun control, gun and ammo sales will go up (that’s a good thing). The irony never ceases to amaze me how the very faction of this country what wants to deploy unconstitutional gun control measures, only end up becoming better gun salespersons.

Moreover, every mass shooting is an act of terror? They’re not. Mass shootings can be part of a terrorist’s arsenal of carnage to push whatever agenda they have in mind, but not every mass shooting is terrorism. The same logic is applied to defining genocide. Genocide is mass killing, but not all mass killings are genocides. What happened in Paris was a horrific terrorist attack perpetrated by ISIS. They had an agenda. They deployed suicide bombers and shooters to target scores of innocent Parisians, which they thought could influence the nation’s policy in the Middle East. The Islamic State attacked France for insulting the prophet Muhammad; they called Paris “the capital of abomination and perversion;” and–perhaps the most important part–the French were attacked due to their intervention in Syria. There are multiple definitions of terrorism; almost every singe one includes some form of political goal. There was no such goal when Adam Lanza senselessly murdered 20 schoolchildren in Newtown in 2012, hence why it was called a mass shooting, and not an act of terrorism. Concerning the San Bernardino shooting, it’s now a federal terrorism investigation. We’ll know in due time the motives and aims behind this attack.

The Times says that it’s easy to define “combat rifles,” though they apparently didn’t know the definition of terrorism–and the left has tried to do this back in the early 1990s with the Assault Weapons Ban. It was a laughable piece of comedy that was attached to the overall Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act in 1994, that was partially responsible for historic Democratic losses in the midterm elections. When it expired in 2004, the data showed that these weapons are a) rarely used in crimes, which remains so to this day and b) did next to nothing to reduce violent crime. Oddly enough, the New York Times ran a piece in September of 2014 highlighting that fact:

…[I]n the 10 years since the previous ban lapsed, even gun control advocates acknowledge a larger truth: The law that barred the sale of assault weapons from 1994 to 2004 made little difference.

It turns out that big, scary military rifles don’t kill the vast majority of the 11,000 Americans murdered with guns each year. Little handguns do[*].

In 2012, only 322 people were murdered with any kind of rifle, F.B.I. data shows.

[…]

The policy proved costly. Mr. Clinton blamed the ban for Democratic losses in 1994. Crime fell, but when the ban expired, a detailed study found no proof that it had contributed to the decline.

The ban did reduce the number of assault weapons recovered by local police, to 1 percent from roughly 2 percent.

“Should it be renewed, the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement,” a Department of Justice-funded evaluation concluded.

Lastly, the “it would require Americans who own those kinds of weapons to give them up for the good of their fellow citizens” part. Why? The vast majority of gun owners–99.9 percent according to Sen. Bernie Sanders–are law-abiding. They have to turn them over because the liberal political class is egregiously ignorant on this issue? They have to turn them over because while they aren’t used often in gun crimes, liberals are afraid of them? The Times has shown that the left is getting closer to outright saying having assault rifles in one's home warrants the National Guard, FBI, ATF, and local law enforcement busting down your door, terrifying your family, and confiscating constitutionally protected items.

Any rational person should balk at this proposal. Any Second Amendment supporter would, as in other counties, should (and probably would) completely ignore the call to hand over their firearms. But if you’re a liberal–in keeping with their principle that government power should be controlled by the few in order to be dictated to the rest of us–you must believe this is a good policy. If ending gun violence enhances the public good, then by all means strip law-abiding Americans of their rights; the end result will pay off. It’s a perverse notion.

This is where this debate is heading–and it’s getting messier with each horrific mass shooting. The left is now mixing terrorism and mass shootings to push a narrative to eviscerate the Second Amendment. We once again have rehashed stories about the AR-15 rifle, which isn’t as powerful as a hunting rifle and rarely used in crimes. And we have the media endorsing gun control policies that would require gun bans and confiscation. They’re insinuating parts of it, but the brash call to ban guns entirely is coming.

Yes, not every right is absolute. There are restrictions, but government and active citizenry should work to maximize these rights to their fullest extent. The pre-existing laws on guns are fine. We need to have a debate on how to revamp our mental health system, and integrate it into our background check system. The problem is that it doesn’t accomplish the left’s goal of destroying gun rights, so they’ll do everything in their power to prevent that debate.

*Support for a handgun ban is insanely low

Not going to happen without enormous bloodshed and door to door attacks on Americans.

The resulting casualties in cops, their families, judges & their families, politicians and their families and the gun owners in their homes will make these staged shootings look insignificant.

Can't be done or the left loses their alleged moral argument.

Or, alternative to giving it all away, how about we have a requirement that every able-bodied adult (women as well as men) over the age of 21 not haveing a violent criminal record owns and can produce for inspection a loaded AR-15 or equivalent in their place of residence, and everyone over 18 has logged 20 hours a year on the range with their weapon of choice. AND anyone not a violent felon wants or needs to open-carry a firearm up to/including .45 caliber  will receive a 2 year permit for same ON DEMAND granting them permission to display such weapon in any public or private place, state house, educational institution or house of worship anywhere in the 50 US states and territories. AND that depriving any individual so approved or required of the right to bear and/or display their self defense weaponry will be prosecuted as a felony.

Okay NYT, back in your court.

Now the police are like assualt squads.

Homeowners and families need to respond BUT crazies need to be filtered???? So how to do that?  Even the best background check will not uncover instability that is growing,

In New Zealand, a gun buyer must have a firearms license, which requires that he supply references, which have to be people who have (or at least appear to have) an established "responsible position" in the community:  physician, dentist, lawyer, judge, police officer, clergy, business owner (I think) with a fixed place of business, and several other categories of people.

While such a requirement will probably never fly in the USA, it does seem to me to be a reasonable attempt at screening out the disaffected loner / crazy dude.  I really do NOT think that the founding fathers of the USA intended that the village idiot had a right to bear arms.  As it stands, until you have been adjudicated as a nut case, you're not really a nut case until after you've shot up the town.

I admire your financial acumen.  But your conspiracy theory based rants are only great for selling website ads and not any good for America.

Nobody wants to take ALL your guns away.  Calm, logical minded people want to get rid of armor piercing bullets and machine gun type weapons.  And they want to close all weapon purchasing loopholes.  They also want them kept from mentally challenged people.  And they want to allow the rest of us to have a gun to protect our homes and families.

So please stick to financial issues.

Nobody wants to take ALL your guns away...today.

Do you include yourself in the grouping of the "rest of us to have a gun to protect our homes and families?" And, do you understand that the 2nd amendment was put there to allow us to protect our homes and families from a government gone wild? And don't say that can't happen. Governments collapse all the time - you only need to look as far as Libya, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and soon a few countries in South America all thanks to the calm and logical people in power.

Calm and logical minded people understand that it's not the law abiding gun owner who is the problem.

Do you not understand that that is exactly what is happening, and has been since 9/11?

9/11 was a false flag operation by the US government against its own people under the control of Israeli-Neocons. It is the coup.  It is the tyranny.  The gun control is part of it. Part of it both ways, they would love to make it happen for real, but as a reason for rebellion, which they will then use to invoke Martial Law.

https://thinkpatriot.wordpress.com/2015/12/03/911-is-the-weak-spot/

Go on hating people, hate those terrible blacks, hate those Muslims. Make it easy for them, and the many years it will take to get back out of the poverty and the number of children who die of poverty will be on your conscience.  You folks are very easily lead, you know?

9/11 can't be discussed in any Status Quo arena. It cannot be recognized by any of the senior military officers, retired. Not by the fire fighters until they retire.  Not by the cops, ... The control of the media should impress you very much and make you think about what else they can make you think, but instead you hate your fellow man.

SOrry, I will not disappear so easily.

You don't know much, and don't seem to know it, if you aren't hasbara. Actually, it is clear that you are, that bit using 'hatred' as tho I was doing it.  Very nice, actually, but it gives you away.  Most Hasbara posts do something like that, you are all too clever by half. Sort of the equivalent of a Syrian passport, you know?

I have a standard bet with people I know : I put an ounce of gold on the table, and I say "Watch 10 hours of videos I show you", then whatch any amount of anything you wish, and you will agree with me and owe me an ounce of gold.  Otherwise, you take that ounce of gold, no questions asked.

None of them take that bet.  None are weak-minded enough to think I would believe anything that is not real solid.

And because of that, you can be confident that very many people of my mental independences and reverence for objective-as-we-can-be reality, understand, KNOW, that 9/11 was a false flag operation by Israeli-Neocons in control of the US government.

Go watch the Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth videos.  If you can't follow the science and logic, watch the people.  Solid folks, not the kind who are fooled by dumb shit.

So nice try, but just another opportunity to tell folks the story.

And, do you notice, nobody argues about 9/11. They always lose, the facts are unbelieveably damning.  Those people murdered 3K people and have militarized our society in pursuit of power.  And they have been winning. MSM can't deal with the issue.

Many very guilty people are in our governments around the world.  The terrorist attacks were all caused, at base, by 9/11 and the wars that justified.

Watch some AE911 videos. Realize how absolutely incredible it is that any political group would do a false flag operation of that magnitude and get by with it for this long.  Wow, can you say 'control of the political agenda'?

And then ask what else they can make you think, and is that likely to be good for me?

And realize, these guys are not idiots, they had many possible plans, and some of them would be more false flag attacks.  Or something equivalent.  They need a civil war, a revolution, a revolt. Otherwise they hang. And from that requirement come the discords of the world, MSM loving every one and amplifying them to the max.

When he finally arrived in the USA, it wasn't to get a real job and work to improve his family's lot in life... Obama arrived to be a public parasite, living off the work of others (community organizer, state legislator, congress member, and now el-presidente). Never had a real job in his life, never had to make payroll, never had to pay taxes, never had to keep an irate customer happy to stay in business. People were forced to do business with him by law, not by choice.

I wonder if the NY Times would be as quick to abrogate the first amendment as they are the second?  Here is the same article with first amendment rights substituted for every mention of second amendment rights.  Slippery slope indeed...

End the Hate Speech Epidemic in America

It is a moral outrage and national disgrace that civilians can legally use words designed to hurt people with brutal speed and effectiveness.

All decent people feel sorrow and righteous fury about the latest maligning of innocents, in Missouri and elsewhere. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies are searching for motivations, including the vital question of how the criticisms might have been connected to various hate groups. That is right and proper.

But motives do not matter to the devastated in Missouri, on the Internet or in far too many other places across America. The attention and anger of Americans should also be directed at the elected leaders whose job is to keep us safe but who place a higher premium on the money and political power of an industry dedicated to profiting from the unfettered use of and access to the media.

It is a moral outrage and a national disgrace that civilians can legally use speech designed specifically to hurt people with devastating speed, effectiveness and efficiency. These are words, unrestrained and deliberately used as tools of macho vigilantism and even insurrection. America’s elected leaders offer outrage for victims and then, callously and without fear of consequence, reject the most basic restrictions on hateful use of free speech. They distract us with arguments about the word freedom. Let’s be clear: Hate speech is in its own way, an act of terrorism.

Opponents of speech control are saying, as they do after every hateful episode, that no law can unfailingly forestall a specific criminal. That is true. They are talking, many with sincerity, about the constitutional challenges to effective speech regulation. Those challenges exist. They point out that determined haters illegally espouse hatred across the world in countries that have strict prohibitions against free speech. Yes, they do.

But at least those countries are trying. The United States is not. Worse, politicians abet would-be haters by supporting mechanisms of free speech for them (the most egregious being the internet) and voters allow those politicians to keep their jobs. It is past time to stop talking about halting the use of hateful speech, and instead to reduce it drastically — eliminating some large categories of speech and thought.

It is not necessary to debate the peculiar wording of the First Amendment. No right is unlimited and immune from reasonable regulation.

Certain words, like those used in Missouri and elsewhere, and certain kinds of organizations, must be outlawed for civilians. It is possible to define those words and phrases in a clear and effective way and, yes, it would require Americans who use those kinds of words to stop using them up for the good of their fellow citizens.
What better time than during a presidential election to show, at long last, that our nation has retained its sense of decency?

Well using the logic of moronic islamophobic Americans, I would agree that assault rifles need to be banned because hey, maybe that person who has one is going to be a mass shooter so betetr to make sure they can't do it! That sounds stupid (and it is) but it's the same idiotic "logic" of islamophobes acting like the world's 1+ billion Muslims are going to be terrorists and should be banned from the country or kicked out of the country.

Kudos to the people behind the whole bullshit war on terror, aka operation gladio 2.0. They've done a hell of job getting the moronic sheeple to believe their crap.

It's remakrable how people will believe whatever they are told without any evidence to support it. If a government says something then it must be true because they'd never lie. Oh no, politicians and intelligence agencies are full of honest do gooder Christians who would never lie and don't have an agenda.

No wonder organized religion as a whole has been able to last for centuries. Fucking idiot human beings just buying whatever they are told from someone higher up than them.

That was the last generations attitude.  If the government said it...it must be true.  Used to drive me nuts.

I still think something is wrong with this last mass murder.  Two people with AR-15's (with special clips that could only be sold to law enforcement)  in an unarmed crowd.  To me the damage is too minimal.  Any amount of training or practice and they should have been able to inflict much more damage than they did.

I am not a conspiracy theorist (usually) but there is something wrong with this whole picture.  I can't put my finger on it but something is not right.  I have dealt with many many eye witnesses and I know how frustrating that can be so I could care less about eye witnesses.  The eye witness accounts should be flushed.  If you were law enforcement you would go with the most plausible and forget about the rest.

I expect there will be new information coming out in a few days.  It should be a juicer.

Obama was going to save Christmas.  He (I seen this on Drudge) was hugging Santa(or???).  What the hell happened to that?  Why wasn't there something in his speech about it?  What made this so special if you recall he goes to Hawaii for Christmas every year so he don't have to deal with it.

As a patriotic American (actually a citizen of the sovereign state of Ohio who  also happens to be an American citizen), I rushed to my "cache" of AR-15's and checked to see how many of them were actually M16 "assault rifles" (i.e. fully automatic machine guns) with the intent of immediately turning them in to authorities to make sure that I kept other Americans safe.  Unfortunately there were none to be found.

Seriously now, the Second Amendment was adopted to make sure that Americans would have the capacity to terminate a tyranical Federal government if/when it led to that.  The proof is found by reading the Constitutional Convention debates.  The Founding fathers had every intention of making sure that the citizens had equal firepower to anything that the Feds could field so that the citizens could make short work of Obama types and all of the other neocons in that viper pit D.C.

Benjamin Franklin

“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!”

-----------

George Mason, co-author of the Second Amendment

“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” – Speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 14, 1778

“That a well-regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural and safe defense of a free state; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that, in all cases, the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.” – Virginia Declaration of Rights, June 12, 1776

------------

Richard Henry Lee, Anti-Federalist

“A militia when properly formed are in fact the people themselves… and include all men capable of bearing arms. . . To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms… The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle.” – Letters From the Federal Farmer to the Republican, Letter XVIII, January 25, 1788

“(W)hereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on every occasion. The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it.” – Federal Farmer, Anti-Federalist Letter, No.18, The Pennsylvania Gazette, February 20, 1788

No free government was ever founded, or ever preserved its liberty, without uniting the characters of the citizen and soldier in those destined for the defense of the state…such area well-regulated militia, composed of the freeholders, citizen and husbandman, who take up arms to preserve their property, as individuals, and their rights as freemen.” – Richard Henry Lee, State Gazette (Charleston), September 8, 1788

Samuel Adams

“And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press, or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; or to raise standing armies, unless necessary for the defense of the United States, or of some one or more of them; or to prevent the people from petitioning, in a peaceable and orderly manner, the federal legislature, for a redress of grievances; or to subject the people to unreasonable searches and seizures of their persons, papers or possessions.” – Debates of the Massachusetts Convention of February 6, 1788; Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 1788 (Pierce & Hale, eds., Boston, 1850)

Etc, Etc, Etc

It's pukes like this that make these kind of statements that eventually chip away at our NATURAL rights by giving TPTB a beachhead to take away even more rights. As far as other arguments regarding nuts that mow down a bunch of people, well, that is part of the cost of living on a planet with humans. Some out there are just evil fucks.

It is easy when you are on Times Square to think you are the center of the universe.  You are not.  There is a whole different country beyond the blinding lights of the big screens.  Those of us out here really don’t care how you live your life.  Nor do we particularly care about what you want. If you do not wish to own an AR or an AK, then by all means do not buy one.

Out here in the hinterlands, beyond the reach of your bright lights, about a third of the population sees what you deem to be assault weapons as the Paladin of their civil liberty.  They understand that the purpose of the Second Amendment was to provide the citizens of the United States the means to resist the government of the United States should it go nuts.  With that in mind, they will not heed your request to surrender the very weapons they deem necessary for their personal defense.

So, if asking does not achieve your goal, then the next logical step one would assume would be mandatory confiscation.   Before you take that step, you should understand that within the whole of the population, there is a significant minority, about three percent, who if put to the test, will resist your efforts of confiscation with deadly force.   Should your raids proceed; a few thousand will be taken unawares.  Then, if history is any guide, roughly nine million well-armed men and women will swarm your surroundings, interdict your food and water supplies and turn out the lights of your splendid city.

The best way to avoid a civil war is to never start one.  Get a grip.  You have better odds of getting killed in traffic than being killed by an AR or an AK.

Don't stop with enough guns for your family, get your neighbors armed.  Shotguns are cheap and relatively safe for neighbors to be pointing in your direction.  Armed societies are resistant to disruption.

Our Israeli-Neocons need this country to go crazy so they can institute the Coup, also called 'continuity of government', I believe.  Something I read a while back said that  some of their people got control of that, because Cheney used in in organizing and running the 9/11 operation.

Anyway, they have to drive the country to rebellion to provide the excuse.  That or large-scale ethnic problems.  So you folks who hate are helping the Iraeli-Neocons continue their operation to control the world by military force.  It won't work, but we are going to hate their attempt.

Guaranteed that is what they are doing, because 9/11 can't be hidden.  They knew that.  They knew the world would understand very quickly.  So 9/11 was an all-or-nothing throw of the dice, and our Israeli-Neocons and the state of Israel live or die by their success.  I think they are probably motivated.

Lots of guns.

The New York Times is an avid member of the totalitarian police state Government-Media Cabal. Either the fools at the New York Times do not realize that there will be no First Amendment without the Second Amendment or that is exactly what they want. They are inciting war by calling for the destruction of the Constitution. New York City is an extremely soft target with extremely old and unstable infrastructure. How livable will New York City be without electricity and clean water, without garbage collection and without sewage systems? If the New York Times succeeds in inciting Civil War it will be extremely easy to reduce New York City to a dark and uninhabitable wasteland. Maybe that is their ultimate goal.

Mark it, this has nothing to do with making people 'safer' it has everything to do with the Bolshevik End Game.

Marvin Harris, one of the world's most noted anthropologists, wrote a book in 1980. This title was previously available as America Now: The Anthropology of a Changing Culture. New York: Simon & Schuster. The new title is Why Nothing Works: The Anthropology of Daily Life 1981.

In the chapter titled: Why There's Terror on the Streets, he demonstrates that American White men have violent crime rates LOWER than English in England and the Japanese in Japan. So why does America have such a high level of violent crime? Dr Harris puts it quite plainly: Blacks and Hispanics. That's the story. He also pointed out that the average gun owner is a middle-aged, middle class White guy.

There are so many cases of Immigrant Mass Murder syndrome but they get virtually NO national coverage. Colin Ferguson was either an illegal or a legal immigrant from Jamaica he shot and killed several people on the Long Island Railroad, it was RACIAL HATE but the government didn't say it was... the Black Muslim snipers one of them was an illegal immigrant from the Caribbean.

Virginia Tech Massacre: Gun Control—Or Immigration Control? Peter Brimelow (Former Executive Editor Forbes magazine) April 18, 2007

There is one indisputable fact about Monday`s shootings at Virginia Tech: if Seung-Hui Cho had not been allowed to immigrate to the U.S. in 1992, he would not have been able to murder 32 innocent people here in 2007.

The Oregon Shooting Immigrant Murder, Disgruntled Minority Massacre, Christophobia—Or Memory Hole Peter Brimelow (Former Executive Editor Forbes magazine) October 2, 2015

Ann Coulter On Mass Shootings: The Problem Isn’t Guns Or White Men

The media act as if they’re performing a public service by refusing to release details about the perpetrator of the recent mass shooting at a community college in Oregon. But we were given plenty of information about Dylan Roof, Adam Lanza, James Holmes and Jared Loughner.

Now, quick: Name the mass shooters at the Chattanooga military recruitment center; the Washington Navy Yard; the high school in Washington state; Fort Hood (the second time) and the Christian college in California. All those shootings also occurred during the last three years.

The answers are: Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez, Kuwaiti; Aaron Alexis, black, possibly Barbadian-American; Jaylen Ray Fryberg, Indian; Ivan Antonio Lopez, Hispanic; and One L. Goh, Korean immigrant. (While I’m here: Why are we bringing in immigrants who are mentally unstable?)

There’s a rigid formula in media accounts of mass shootings: If possible, blame it on angry white men; when that won’t work, blame it on guns.

The perpetrator of the latest massacre, Chris Harper-Mercer, was a half-black immigrant, so the media are refusing to get too specific about him.

THEY want American Whites DISARMED so that THEY can do to Whites what they did to the Czar and his family and TWENTY MILLION White Russians according to Khrushchev. These are BOLSHEVIKS in power in the USSA.

I think it behooves each and every single one of us, AND OUR FAMILIES, to join the NRA.

http://www.nrahq.org/

Because the Bolsheviks are prepared to do their WORST and believe me, that is TOO TERRIBLE to contemplate.

As originally defined a weapon of mass destruction (WMD) was an atomic bomb or thermonuclear warhead with explosive strength measured in the ton of trinitrotoluene (TNT) equivalent. Now thanks to the police state organs of the Federal government a weapon of mass destruction is a pipe bomb containing a few ounces of gunpowder. By the same means, someday soon every gun will be defined as an assault weapon by the Federal government. Hence a ban on assault weapons will mean a complete ban on all guns, thereby totally destroying not only the Second Amendment but the entire Constitution, too. By redefining language the Federal government will criminalize anything they desire to further the power of the totalitarian police state.

I promise that if I ever snap and go on a killing spree it will be while visiting the New York Times executive editorial board meeting.
I further promise that I will not use a firearm as to not cause another national histeria.
Instead the weapon of choice will be a vintage travel typewriter. It would be a poetic justice if they were all to parish because their heads were bashed in with their classic weapon of choice.
Maybe few will also be dispatched with an #2 pencil or fountain pen in the neck.

However because unlike the NYT editors, I am a completely rational and sane individual the above scenario has a lower chance of occurring than the NYT doing a honest investigation into Obama's background and reporting its results
In other words they can sleep soundly at night. It will never happen.

The NYT is a laughingstock.

The historical reality of the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms is not that it protects the right to shoot deer. It protects the right to shoot tyrants, and it protects the right to shoot at them effectively, with the same instruments they would use upon us. And make no mistake, there was a reason why the "right to keep and bear arms" amendment is Second, only after the right to tell their Government to go to hell, the First. --Judge Andrew Napolitano

I agree that guns should be kept out of the hands of people without the wit and impulse control to properly handle them.

Post-reconstruction, Southern governments made it an offense for blacks to carry guns, to prevent them from settling scores with Confederate veterans, raping white women at gunpoint, and engaging in organized terrorist activity against whites. White militias were organized to ensure the gun laws were strictly enforced. And they worked. Disarming blacks kept them well-behaved for many decades.

Something similar would work well even today. A Muslim crazy enough to try to stab a Christian in broad daylight "for Syria" ought to be able to expect to be shot dead on the spot. In Israel, that's exactly what would happen.

You would assume, from the framers of the constitution's point of vew, and their experience, that the second most important ammendment, placing guns in the hands of a well armed private militia- not to combat fellow citizens, but as a protection from a tyranical government, much like the one we now have.

Try reading the Declaration of Independence.

For the Founding Fathers, you could not back your natural right to free speech and political organization without arms. There is a specific order to the Bill of Rights (Government Limitations) for this very reason.

Unfortunately I feel that the US is headed back in that direction, once the producers try to shrug off the consumers once and for all. And by consumers, I'm referring to the liberal progressives who would consume anything and everything that would further their agenda of total control of the population. Confiscation by taxation or other means. Don't think it can't happen here, eventually it will. Obama moved us more "forward" than anyone since FDR.

Plans to enact real gun control are.hard to enact without a terrible disturbance in the force.  Reason is there's alot of dumbfucks out there break-in in everywhere to get heroin money.  OK so the solemn faced dishit in chief wants to enact some restrictions on gun sales. Ownership really. So the stolen gun the heroin addict finds when he is in your house while you are at the movies goes up in value so guess who gets the stolen guns? The dealer who can arm his gang members at the same time the gun owners are being reduced. This makes everyone in the war zones we call cities nervous and they ain't having this shit.  Let alone mom and pop in suburbia out to the ranchlands so forget about voters rewarding politicians for disarming folks.

The propaganda narrative is that white rednecks are responsible for violent crime. That poor non-city whites are knuckle dragging inbred gorillas with IQ's in the sub-90 range.

The reality is that the inbred knuckle draggers are committing a disproportionate amout of violent crime with firearms (Chicongo for example), their average IQ is sub 85, most of them receive government assistance too.

But the crucial point is that the real knuckledraggers live right in the middle of most of these urban utopias and their own media denies it. And continues to propagandize the ignorant hive dwellers that whites are the danger.

Whites can be extremely dangerous once riled. We, the redneck gun owning nation stretching from Maine to Idaho, from Florida to Arizona and from Louisiana to Michigan (and all points in between), haven't done shit. Yet.

When we do, there will be  no mistaking us for the dindus, drugs gangs, or any other sort.

When we go on the warpath there will be no mercy, no surrender, and total victory. We grow tired of your baseless threats. We grow bored of your constant whining.

That's my story.

NYT? Are you ready to get it on?

Embed your crack reporters in the confiscation teams.

So your hivemates can see what happens when white men decide its time to stop playing by nice. We won't be singing Kum-ba-Yah.

"Yes, not every right is absolute. There are restrictions, but government and active citizenry should work to maximize these rights to their fullest extent."

What about a right to life?

If we cannot agree that we all have a right to live, barring a specific and personal action to surrender it, then we have nothing to discuss.

Yet if the right to live is absolute, then how can the right to protect that life against agressors not also be absolute?

But if that is so, then rights are absolute - by definition.

And if you assert that a right to life is not absolute, then you are asserting that some people's lives are the property of other people, to be used at their discretion and disposed of at will.

Gun control and the 2nd Amendment.  Those who favor the 2nd Amendment are making a massive mistake.  They are defending the 2nd Amendment when they only way to defend the Amendment is to attack those who favor gun control.

The worst thing you can do to the MSM is overturn NYT v. Sullivan and allow anyone who a newspaper or media prints a lie about to sue for lots of money with damages presumed if it was intentional. Most of the newspapers would be out of business that week because of the lies they are allowed to print today.

The next worse thing you can do is pass an admendment that does not allow anyone on welfare to vote unless and until they reimburse the government for the monies expended.

The next worse thing you can do is term limits, no administrative regulations are valid until passed by Congress, and a balanced budget amendment.

The next worse thing you can do it pass an Amendment that requires State appointment of Senators and an amendment to allow popular vote to impeach Supreme Court Justices and federal judges (in the districts where they sit).

The Second Amendment argument to ban is amazing in that the same faction supports the rights of criminals over law abiding citizens, and they support the fact that the police have no duty to protect and defend you and yet those who defend the Amendment are not willing to destroy the base of people that are willing to literally exterminate those who want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

WAKE THE F*** UP YOU MORONS AND START AN ORGANIZED CAMPAIGN TO PUT THESE PEOPLE OUT OF BUSINESS AND KEEP THEM BUSY SO THEY DON'T HAVE ANY TIME TO ATTACK THE 2ND.

The only valid strategy to defend the 2nd is to attack them where it really hurts. No voting for welfare recipients alone would remove 60% of the elected officials who continually attack the 2nd Amendment. THINK ABOUT IT AND DO IT.
