Trump Vows To "Quickly Cut The Head Off Isis And Take Their Oil" In First TV Ad

Tyler Durden's picture

“The world is laughing at us, at our stupidity,” Donald trump told the Washington Post, in an interview on Sunday. “It’s got to stop. We’ve got to get smart fast — or else we won’t have a country.”

Those comments came as the GOP frontrunner gave the Post an exclusive look at his campaign’s first television spot, which is set to debut on Monday.

Trump has thus far run what one might call an “unconventional” campaign. While rivals spent millions on television ads only to see their poll numbers drop, Trump relied on... well, on being Trump. The bombastic billionaire’s fiery stump speech (which, while short on substance, lacks nothing when it comes to conviction) has resonated with large swaths of the American electorate that are fed up with business as usual inside the Beltway.

With his first ad, Trump is sticking with what’s worked. That is, he’s doubling down on the same controversial messages that have both surprised and captivated the political punditry who now exist in a perpetual state of shock thanks to the fact that Trump is rewriting the rules of what candidates can and should say on the campaign trail. Here’s WaPo with a description of the new spot:

Donald Trump’s ad begins with a shot of President Obama and Hillary Clinton. Then comes a U.S. battleship launching a cruise-missile strike. From there it moves swiftly through an explosive montage: The suspects in the recent California terrorist attack. Shadowy figures racing across the U.S.-Mexico border. Islamic State militants.

The narrator, a deep-voiced man, speaks ominously: “That’s why he’s calling for a temporary shutdown of Muslims entering the United States, until we can figure out what’s going on. He’ll quickly cut the head off ISIS and take their oil. And he’ll stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for.”

The spot closes with the image of Trump thundering at one of his rallies, “We will make America great again!”

"Trump has vowed to spend at least $2 million a week on the ads — an amount that will be amplified by the countless times they are likely to be played on cable news and across social media," WaPo continues, adding that "Trump has six to eight ads in production [which] he hopes will impress upon undecided voters that the country has become 'a dumping ground.'"

Notably, Trump is doubling down on the Muslim ban message just days after that very same message turned up in an al-Shabaab propaganda video. Of course that shouldn't surprise anyone. Trump isn't one to backtrack and hey, "if it aint broke..."

And yet even as short a spot as that described above reveals what certainly appears to be a lack of understanding when it comes to policy specifics. For instance, one cannot "take" Islamic State's oil. It isn't theirs for Trump to take. That oil belongs to Syria and Iraq. Additionally, Trump seems certain that Mexico will be willing to fund the construction of a giant border fence. It's not at all clear why he believes that.

In any event, if Trump's television spots are anything like his campaign trail rallies, we're in for some epic trolling of America's entrenched political aristocracy and also of the liberal media. We'll close with WaPo's amusing account of the moment when the final cut of the first ad was played in the candidate's 26th-floor suite at Trump Tower:

One afternoon last week in the candidate’s 26th-floor suite at Trump Tower here, the fiery depictions of global terrorism flickered on Trump’s face as he stared down at campaign manager Corey Lewandowski’s laptop computer to watch the final cut of the ad.

“Play it again,” Trump told Lewandowski, nodding approvingly. “I love the feel of it.”

The "entitlement seekers" do NOT cast thoughtful votes based on their own best self interest. Being logical, informed people we think they do, but they don't. They aren't logical; they aren't informed; and they can't vote their wallet because they don't have one.

They truly don't know where their "entitlements" come from. They just appear in their bank account or as a credit on their SNAP Card. Their benefactor is some faceless low-level bureaucrat who fills out the forms for them to get more benefits. They are not loyal Democrat voters.

"Entitlement Seekers" will vote for anyone who puts on a good show. For them, elections are just "reality shows" where outrageous behavior is good entertainment. This is Donald Trump's base support. He puts on a good show and has a cutting reply to every question and says outrageous things off the cuff. Truth and logic doesn't matter to this demographic - they want excitement and chaos.

Obama carried this demographic because his whole candidacy and persona are preposterously outrageous (don't get me started). Hillary can't even come close to that sick reality show. She is boring. So are Bush, Romney, McCain and the whole field of current candidates except Trump, Cruz and maybe Rubio. (Cruz sure excited the Senate and main stream media when he showed up as a freshman in the Senate)

That is the Why of it in my opinion.

As for votes, the "entitlement seekers" are (sadly) about a third, dedicated "rule of law" proponents (US Conservatives) about a third and dedicated "rule by decree" (US Liberals/Progressives)proponents about a third. Whoever wins the "entitlement seekers" wins the swing vote and the election.

Are you honestly suggesting that the Americans of European descent being drawn to Trump now are "entitlement seekers"?

LOL. Like their kin in Sweden and Europe. They built the fucking First World  country that migrants/"diversity" want to immigrate to.  They're the people that have been too nice to stand up for themselves as an ethnic group.  Implicitly or explicitly they're gradually realizing that they're not "multiculturalism."  They're not diverse.  Everyone else in the entire world is diversity.  So they're being expected to diversity themselves out of existence or at least pretend to be Africans or other groups like Rachel Dolezal or Elizabeth Warren, etc.  Or the Australian people of European descent pretending to be Aborigines now because their minds ahve been Jewed/minoritied over like nothing else before in the history of the world.  Do the Japanese want to be Aborigines?

And you wonder WHY they're drawn to Trump?  It's bound to happen.  If not Trump, then someone else would be being called "another Hitler" by jews now.  Because people don't take lightly to their whole group being replaced, diversified, displaced and melted off the face of the earth in a so-called melting pot.

"Obama loved by the EU peoples" I have an alternative explanation for you: we were giddy to see Bush... go. We would still like to put him on trial, btw

we were lied by him, too. starting with his promise to us of having a "humble" foreign policy. that "humble" became "seven countries in five years"

comes to mind..

Trump will be good for America, but, perhaps not the the EU or mid east or even the far east.

If he gets elected, and if he can actually do any of the things he wants:
secure borders and fair trade deals..that will be a pleasant change from the leadership of the rest who's policies have weakened the economy of America while adding to the economy of the rest of the world, EU as well.

"The PEOPLE of America have no friends" is patently false, regardless of the quality of your government. As much as that "you all hate us"

"The PEOPLE of America have no friends" is patently false, regardless of the quality of your government. As much as that "you all hate us"

so you know countries have no Friends, maybe common enemies, common goals at times, but no long lasting Friends. History shows this for a poor example the (russian german peace pack of 1930's)

American presidents since pre WWII love to act like our nation has friends and they got us into treaties that the founders said were to be avoided, because of this lie.

It's not even that.  Observe Ghordius the witless European being triggered by Trump so that he attacks a "Real Man."   That is the problem right there, in their minds.

There won't be an "economy"/banks to grow when the Third World migrates into their lands.  Even their debt/money servitude to international Jews is premised on them having a nation and a country to monetize in the first place. "National debt."  It's not "country debt."  "National security."  It's not country or "homeland security" until Jews try to make it so after a false flag attack by their nationalists.  There's a fundamental truth that is progressively being revealed by the day, "goyim."  Your nation is your kin.

How can you have the concept of internationalism and globalism, without implicit nationalism?  How can you endlessly defeat a racism, without admitting that race exists?

Maybe Europeans can begin to learn from Trump how to be a real man of European descent?  Seriously.

WTF are those guys in Europe doing?  Apparently at least some are complaining about Trump implicitly representing the interests of white people instead of jews, arabs, Mexicans, Muslims and everyone else that's Diversity Inc.?  What is diversity relative to?  What is a "minority" if the minorities are the "oppressed" majoriity...  and no one is left to do the implicitly straight "Real White Man" job of being the oppressor of a majority of women, jews (Provided they're pretending to be an oppressed minority that day.), African pygmies, Mexicans, Mexican midgets or the disabled Chinese midget that thinks he's a woman?

The long march through the institutions cultivating an ethnic attack created by the Tribe against European men ("Real Men," because masculinity is such a joke!!!) is being revealed as it progresses.  Even when white men progressively become an oppressed "minority" in the lands that their ancestors DIED FOR, coalitions of minorities/majorities aren't going to suddenly turn around and have affirmative action programs for white men or excuse violence in the European American community by arguing that it's all just evidence that white kids need more education funding, welfare and opportunity.

"the Real Man", I used that in the sense of "someone I can connect to", to make a parallel to Bush's election

a Nation isn't necessarily a Country. example: Scotland and Wales are Nations, and have.... national football teams. meanwhile, there is the British national debt

further, I am on the record here on ZH for having been a supporter of Berlusconi before it was so deliciously "anti-PC" and proper to do such a thing

and yes, I think that Loss of Masculinity is indeed one of the great catastrophes of the western world. I see myself as a Real Man. you... not so sure, from this comment

own up your shit instead of projecting all this stuff. Real Men... you can recognize them at their way how they handle criticism, among other things

some of your arguments are neither here nor there, others have some substance but you seriously need to separate the chaff from the wheat

any explanation for this part? as a matter of fact I am part of this "rest of the World" and I do not complain about the US Foreign Policy... stupidity. Many other things come to mind, but stupidity is not among them, and I Am Not Laughing, I am more in the mood of crying

fact is that American Politics have changed. I remember when Americans looked as if they were keen on electing... how to explain... a Presidential President? And now they look as if they were neither keen, nor want any above-average skills for that job. ..."

I reply to your posts because you seem to truly want to understand what is happening in US politics. I do too, and your questions help.

The Trump quote you used is literal nonsense, but it stirs emotion without actually saying anything that can be criticized. See post 6994838 for why this is a key part of Trump's popularity. There are two trigger phrases in the quote - "the world is laughing at us" and "we won't have a country" - that are meaningless to non-Americans but very meaningful to Americans. See post 6995045 for a partial explanation of that.

By focusing on splashy frontrunner Trump you completely miss the epic political war with no quarter given or taken going on in the US right now. It is between conservatives who believe in constitutionally limited  government and the rule of law (as opposed to the rule of powerful people) vs. liberal/progressives who believe in unlimited government, restrained by no law and rule by decree.

There are two battles in this war - one is obviously for control of the US government. The other is for control of the Republican Party. Unless conservatives can gain control of the Republican Party, they will lose future ballot access in many states and be relagated to third party status.

Recent Republican Candidates (Bush, McCain and Romney) have been RINOs (Republican in Name Only) who ran as conservatives but espoused Liberal/Progressive policy. That can't happen again without fundamentally changing America and America's traditional role in world affairs.

Unless conservatives win at least one of these domestic battles, the world can forget the simple goodwill and generosity of America past and prepare to feel the unrestrained iron fist of American power unleashed.

Because people running for offices in the US are move by polls. Their care for what poster/public relations tell them to say. The goal is to move/fool public opinion enough to get elected. Once/if elected, they care less about public opinion. They never did, remember? There’s no democracy because both parties work for business. it’s all a power grab act of which side rules.

He does display some scary characteristics though. Authoritarian, makes up rules as he goes along, considered strong leader. Think back to a certain broke country that needed such a person. When this sort of thing happens in a country I take it as a sign that the population itself has become non viable. Essentially the public at large says we dont want to deal with the corrupt politicians we elected so we will just hand the problem to you. Oh by the have all the power you want to fix it. Agree the first part, especially this;

"Without a working press its hard to tell"

The 'H' allusion, not so much, as Germany was seriously in desperate bitter violent poverty and political ructions for a long time. The US isn't like that, the 'depression' the US is living through (foretasting) is every one else's version of close to paradise. Abundant food, shelter and clothing, entertainment and mobility and personal comms, plus sexual freedom and no religious persecution/oppression crap ... it ain't that bad, it's been better, but it ain't like Germany was for two decades.

As I see it the country is in the mood to counteract the democrat BS of the past two terms of Obama.

What really changed from the last election of Obama, for a second term, until now?

Not much, incompetence and the rise of Putin maybe, and the irksome period of Hillary as Sec of FA, that did some damage.
