New Gallup Poll – Americans Consider Government A Much Bigger Problem Than Guns
Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

U.S. President Barack Obama is not just the world’s best gun salesman, he’s also the world’s worst gun control spokesperson.
Despite immediately politicizing every single shooting event in recent years by using his bully pulpit to lecture the American public on why citizens must give up their rights to feel safe, his message has fallen on deaf ears. Why?
Mainly because a man who consistently orders drone strikes on women and children all over the world, intentionally bombs a Doctors Without
Borders hospital into oblivion, and who launched more shady wars across the globe than George W. Bush, doesn’t exactly hold much credibility as a humanitarian pacifist looking to “save the children.”
– From the post: A Majority of Americans Oppose “Assault Weapons Ban” – Highest Number on Record
We learned the above just last month, which makes the latest findings on how Americans view gun control consistent with previously observed attitudes. Meanwhile, Nick Gillespie over at Reason explains the latest poll results from Gallup, and highlights how Obama continues to force an alternative agenda on the American people:
The first major action taken by Barack Obama in 2016—a set of new gun-control measures mandated via executive order—is aimed at a threat that Americans don’t spend a lot of time worrying about.
In its latest survey of Americans, Gallup finds that “dissatisfaction with government,” not guns or even terrorism, tops the list of concerns:
Obama’s new actions against guns include expanding background checks; changing definitions of mental illness in a way that limits who is able to own guns; increasing the number of federal agents charged with tracking gun sales and crimes; and more.
Because violent crime, including gun-related crime and murders, is way down, gun-control issues don’t generally capture the public imagination the way that they would in a world of increasing murder rates. In the same Gallup survey that listed “dissatisfaction with government” as the top concern for each of the past two years, “guns/Gun control” was considered “the most important problem” by 2 percent of respondents, about the same who listed “lack of respect for each other” and pollution.
Yet Obama pushes forward with measures that even he acknowledges “will save few lives,” almost certainly more out of politics than an interest in dealing with the most serious problems facing the country.
Obama’s willingness to always pivot to issues that are not front and center, along with his willingness to expand the role of the state in virtually every aspect of our lives from health care to mass surveillance is surely a big part of the reason why people are consistently worried more about government than anything else. In this, of course, he’s had plenty of help from Republicans and his fellow Democrats, which also helps to explain another Gallup finding released this time last year: “In U.S. New Record 43% Are Independents.”

Then organize and go to war with them
I don't see you offering any solutions?
Or are you that afraid of the IRS? Or you can't live without your Chase/Citi/Wells/BofA? Or you can't live without your Comcast? Or Exxon/Mobil etc. etc. etc.
Dont go voting, spread the word that vting is just legitimizing these criminas and thugs. Read Larken Rose, get in touch with civi disobedience, buycotts and stop believing in false authoritites.
Yup indeed all one has to do is review the polling data at your local district after any given election. See how many pull straight ticket. That is why the inertia of the "party" maintains the current "system". Until the American voters, those that show up, start taking this obligation seriously by understanding how the candidates vote and turn a deaf ear on what they "promise", then we they will continue to be manipulated by the parties and the media promoting XYZ storyline. I think it would be awesome to organize a national write in campaign or even you local races and get the message out for voters to write in "Donald Duck". Imagine if Donald Duck won some House or Senate race or maybe a bunch of them, think that message would get through?
Wow! More solutions!
Ok, I offered them. Now quit being an asshole.
And they were good ones. Thank you for that post after the fact. However, I am entitled to post what I feel like posting without being called an asshole.
But you have 2 up votes so you can't go back and edit it now.
It is kind of like if someone posted a video of you blowing yourself on YouTube that went viral but you somehow managed to get it taken down. Who knows how many people downloaded it and clearly, you did blow yourself.
Like the 80's song said, "There is no political solution." We have to repeat this shit every 50 years or so. Absolute power corrupts absolutley.
One big achievment would be to get rid of the MSM to stop the lies.
An honest media could go a long way.

Vote all you want. Isn't it clear by now that the game is rigged though? The illusion of choice. Nothing really changing.
Quit blindly supporting them.
Not blindly supporting them Mike. Eyes are wide open.
As Doug Casey said "dont vote for them it just encourages them" it makes them feel special.
Step 1: Stop referring to people as citizens.
They are Slaves to the Criminal Fraud UNITED STATES, CORP. INC. nothing less.
I think it's a good time to start learning how to cook egg in potato.

Fed.gov is history's grossest expression of narcissism!
And tv news ,news papers etc is complicate. So expect blow back.
I'm not surprised that only 2% think gun control is an important issue. I AM SURPRISED that it was reported as such. I fully expected to see polling numbers reflecting Global Warming and Gun Control in the top 2 positions that citizens are worried about. That is the narrative TPTB are trying to spin so it's unexpected that the polls don't reflect that.
If it were not for the fact that the country is comprised mostly of sheeple, govt would be brought under control. As it is, no hope.
@Jamaica,
There's that word again, "Corrupt." Please ZH's when referring to the CriminL Faud UNITED STATES, CORP. INC. refer to it as it is in its current state.
CRIMINAL. Anything less is fooling yourselves.
I'll give you a hint:
1776.
Molon Labe, and keep your powder dry, bitchz
Silly Rabbit, exercise your second amendment right and start feeding the tree of liberty.
resist at every opportunity...jury nullification, civil disobedience, etc.
organize and prepare so that you and your community are indpendent and self-sufficient, rather than dependent on Uncle Sugar
That's where the "moral / ethics decline" part comes in - reverse that, in yourself and others, and maybe there's a chance.
Step 1. Realize that the government is just a puppet for the bankers and large corporations. Step 2. Stop giving the bankers and large corporations your money, as much as possible. Step 3. Turn off the fake corporate media. Step 4. Learn to live with less, make friends with your neighbors, learn some real skills, grow food.
Wait for them to knock on your door, then start shooting.
" That the US Government is corrupt is not the question. They are.
The questions are;
WHAT CAN THE AVERAGE CITIZEN DO ABOUT IT?
HOW CAN THIS BE STOPPED?
For the life me, I do not have those answers.
THAT is the issue; what can someone do? "
You have only two choices. TWO. That's it.
1: Armed Rebellion.....aka Civil War and/or Coup
2: Drop out and go "Amish". And that doesn't mean go run out to the country and buy a plot of land...(although that would be best).... and live off the land. You can "shelter in place" in the city by stating a small garden in your back yard. Think your back yard is too small. Tell that to these folks who grow 6000 lbs of food on 1/10 of an acre 15 minutes from downtown L.A.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCmTJkZy0rM
How about 20,000 lbs of fish and 70,000 vegetables on 1/4 acre

What if you live in an apartment? Have a patio ? A terrace?

Apart from growing your own food.......also drop off the voter rolls and don't re-register when you move somewhere. Voting doesn't matter and only gives legitimacy to the system. This also can get you off jury duty. The Justice System is equally broken and corrupt so don't support it.
Drop your income down so that you can get an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Let the corrupt government bankrupt themselves by paying you. Enroll in SNAP. Free food to supplement while you grow your own. Plus, it puts further pressure on the government. Go solar and/or wind so you pay less utility tax. That's right....the ulitiies are also in bed with the government so they are fascist as well and part of the corrupt "Tax" system. Take advantage of tax breaks on the front side for installation and enjoy a utility tax break on the back end.
Get a small 4 cyl. Jap or Korean car for a fuel tax break. The oil companies are part and parcel with big goverment. Screw them by cutting your fuel bill. That will also lessen your auto insurance bill. Insurance companies are also part and parcel of big government. They tax you as well with insurance costs.
If you're not going to pick up the gun, as Americans have refused to do since the Civil War and will never again, then you're only choice is to radically downsize EVERYTHING so as to supply yourself what you need in terms of food, shelter, income and transporation. When you do this.....you help drain the swamp and cut off the blood supply to the Fascist Regime of Big Government and Big Business. Namely, money.
Starve the Beast.
.gov is not a problem, it is a disease we have no cure for.
The diseases that we must each cure are fear and ego. Governments and banks just provide the vehicles for transmission.
That thing posing as president displays hubris like I have not seen before. I find petulant a very appropriate description of the gas bag, murdering, carny escapee.
for the common flu there is no cure for, too. perhaps, just perhaps, the problem is not there, but in the search for unpractical solutions
methinks every single motion to get rid of government is a hindrance to a motion to reduce government
take some vitamin C, meanwhile, and your antibodies are more likely to keep the flu at bay
the equivalent of vitamin C for .gov has a name: balanced budgets. works wonders, judging from how loud some scream about it, including Dr. Krugman
Balanced Budget? Honey (says congress), our revenue is not keeping up with our credit card spending? Ok sweetie (says the taxpayer) I'll get a second job. Thanks honey, we gotta keep this thing balanced.
Geordius is correct. If we had a balanced budget and every time govt wanted to spend over budget they had to raise taxes, it would not take long for our priorities to be set. So much of our spending goes on the debt clock and the sheeple could give a shit. On the other hand if your taxes had to go up to pay even the sheeple would start bleating.
the debt must grow.........it is not optional....the bank is the .gov....
'Since the medium of exchange in a debt backed by debt system is debt, the only way to service a debt is with debt and the only way that can be sustained is if debt inflates by the required amount''
hypertiger
not completely exact. try to amend the sentence with "... the only way to service a debt without allowing defaults is with debt..."
capitalism is superior to socialism in two key ways:
- it allows for decentralized decision making versus centralized decision making, aka free markets versus central planning and
- it allows for failure to be found out earlier and so before more malinvestment is done, making it cheaper to fund, and so more effective
imho this is a reasonably good "nutshell argument" from the Austrian School of economics
I reject ur isms.......the only ism i see is Banksterism........
I thought governmental vitamin C was spelled Constitution, Vitamin B1 is Balance Budget. But both are equally important to keeping the .gov flu under control.
Balanced budgets are a joke! A blanced budget is the same as only paying the minimum payment on your visa card, I don't think I need to tell you where that will get you.
We certainly DO have a cure-the question is whether or not the physicians (We the People) have the stomach to administer it.
Better than throwing up our hands, prepping, and waiting for the inevitable collapse?: Article 5 Convention - http://www.amazon.com/dp/1451606273
I'm not sure at this point.
An Article 5 convention just plays into their hands. They can manipulate it and do more damage than they have already. Even if you did manage to come up with something narrowly focused and were able to get enough states to ratifiy...what makes you think they'll have any more respect for that document/amendment than they do with the current one?
A con-con is a cop out for people who don't have enough balls to stand and fight back. We cannot regain our freedom by more words on paper, we can only regain our freedom by fighting for it. A good start would be to throw each and every incumbent out of office and demand the resignation of every single bureaucrat who has more than 2 years of service...rinse and repeat as necessary. If we can do that we might have a chance to fix the system from within the system...but I ain't holding my breath.
You don't have to prep and just "wait." Self reliance is a never ending process that is actually its own reward.
The idea is to "live" your own life as independent from the system as possible while it cannibalizes itself so you don't go down with the ship. You're building a life raft that is also a new (or old) way to LIVE. Self-reliance is a beautiful thing.
Put another way, Noah didn't spend his time trying to change the wicked, he took care of his house and as many of the innocents as he could in order to make the new world a better place. The WAY he lived never really changed though.
Self sufficient people are impossible to control, which is why we should all strive to be self sufficient. If you grow your own food, they cannot starve you. If you have your own well they cannot wait you out. If you are able to defend yourself, you don't need them. And that my friends is why they will never let you. Front yard gardens are illegal, they even own the rain that falls on your house, and they want that gun.
".politburo."
Guns don't kill people, governments do. And behind every government is a banker (most likely in Switzerland), giving orders on where to aim.
"Governments" are people. And, arguably, bankers too.
yes, but some are more people then others. and the way for some people to be more so is to own legions of lawyers, lobbyists, bought politicians and of course unlimited secret campaign funding
Fundamentally flawed premise of article: assumption that the administration gives a shit about 'we the people'
I like how the category is labeled "Government/Congress/Politicians". I wonder what the poll results would be if it was labeled "President/Congress/Supreme Court" instead?
