Americans Can't Wait To Get Out Of These Five States
A low cost of living, no sales tax, and beautiful scenery (oh, naked bike rides, more strip clubs per capita than any other US city, and legalized weed) means Oregon is the "top moving destination" for Americans for the third year running, according to United Van Lines, with 69% of moves inbound. But, which states are Americans leaving in droves?
Americans continue to pack up and head West and South, according to new data from United Van Lines.
Oregon is the most popular moving destination of 2015 with 69 percent of moves to and from the state being inbound. The state has continued to climb the ranks, increasing inbound migration by 10 percent over the past six years. New to the 2015 top inbound list is another Pacific West state, Washington, which came in at No. 10 with 56 percent inbound moves.
Moving In - The top inbound states of 2015 were:
- Oregon
- South Carolina
- Vermont
- Idaho
- North Carolina
- Florida
- Nevada
- District of Columbia
- Texas
- Washington
The Northeast continues to experience a moving deficit with New Jersey (67 percent outbound) and New York (65 percent) making the list of top outbound states for the fourth consecutive year. Two other states in the region — Connecticut (63 percent) and Massachusetts (57 percent) — also joined the top outbound list this year. The exception to this trend is Vermont (62 percent inbound), which moved up two spots on the list of top inbound states to No. 3.
Moving Out - The top outbound states for 2015 were:
- New Jersey
- New York
- Illinois
- Connecticut
- Ohio
- Kansas
- Massachusetts
- West Virginia
- Mississippi
- Maryland
Simply put, Americans are moving from heavily-regulated, bureaucratic, high cost-of-living states to more affordable states.
This year's data from United Van Lines...

And the interactive version from the last 39 years...
Finally, as The Daily Signal concludes,
Moving patterns show how important cost of living is to American families.
With perfect weather and a booming, high-tech economy, California ought to be the #1 destination. Instead, more moving trucks are leaving the state than entering.

Every American citizen should be reminded of these facts, daily.
Cocksuckers - blow up our world so we will fight surrogate wars in theirs.
This reminds me of an old guy I met retiring in Brooklyn. When asked where he was moving, he said he wasn't quite sure yet. When asked, 'what's your plan?" I got a very, very memorable answer.
He said he and his wife were going to be driving south and west out of NY. Every time they stopped for gas or to eat, they'd say the word "JEW" to the first people they met.
The first time someone said, "What's a Jew - that's when I stop driving and buy a little house or condo."
Of course, I don't find any humor or good old common sense in this idea, I just thought I'd convey it. Oy!
This came from the same person legendary for saying, "Show me a place with more than one Jew, and I'll show you a place where there's trouble brewing."
I think he might have been a bit anti-semitic. I"m not sure. Somoeone told me he was a 'realist', but I don't know what they meant by that.
Reality has an anti-semitic bias.
As manufacturing within the country continues to decline with more 'betrade' agreements on the horizon ....
Oregon...a bastion of liberty. In Portland they fined a bar owner $400,000 because he asked a group of transexuals not to have thier weekly meetings at his bar because it was driving away business.
link?
Dreadnaught, are you fearful of google? Five seconds and you have it.

Probably just a snotty lib
From that link:
The message said business was down Fridays, likely because people incorrectly assumed the P Club was a gay or “tranny” bar.
Assuming that business really was down on Fridays and he could prove it and not simply making up a bogus excuse then the easy solution would be to help people from making a wrong assumption by simply displaying a big sign "THIS IS NOT A GAY OR TRANNY BAR, and every customer is welcome".
Bar owner should review credit card recipts and get names and addresses for some payback.
Folks are being driven into a clash with Mexico.
Since this measures the difference between numbers that 'move from' a state versus the numbers that 'move to' a state, there is only one reason why a state like Vermont has a higher 'move to' ratio - the people there pay so much in taxes that they cannot afford to move out of the state!
My uncle lives there. Lots of freebees. Very socialistic.
I am happy to be an Oregonian I am also very proud to be a resident of Jackson County which outlawed GMOs within its borders!
I read that Oregon has huge taxes on the rich and all the rich were leaving. Maybe the legislature reversed that when they discovered it didn't increase revenue. I think I read it several years ago, after 2007.
Why is Kansas high on the leave list? Seems odd to me. Maybe because Kathy Sibilius moved back there after destroying our healthcare and leading the ObamaCare charge.
duplicate post
Might have something to do with Brownback and his voodo economics. Kansas was supposed to be the proof of conservitive economics. hahahaha
Don't come to Illinois, lived here all my life, retiring elsewhere. Used to be a decent state, liberal assholes have ruined it. High taxes and getting higher, there is no end. Big brother, big momma, big poppa, there is no privacy, it fucking sucks here. In another year I am gone from this big assed broke and crooked state.
hopefully you can cash out in time (sell your RE before it all comes down).
To Vermont .....hahahahahahaha! What a joke! The same state that has just instituted mandatory composting -replete with fines. Where Brooklyn born Colonel Sanders is our senator. A state that just implemented draconian laws and regulations for farming - statewide - under the guise of cleaning up our waters. Laws and regulations that will destroy small farms while allowing the big ones to grow even larger. A state who spends tens of millions on a 20 mile public transportation rail line - with few to none daily passengers while the highways throughout the state remain potholed and deangerous at any speed.
Yeah - enjoy vermont! Ive lived here for most of my adult life and cant get our of here quick enough. It aint what it once was. The mystique has long since died. Its run by mentally insane people whose philosphies are utterly divorced from reality. If it wasn't for the IBM plant in burlington the state would be bankrupt. But the closure of that plant wil come - sooner than the lib cuck moonbats might think. At which point the day of finanacial reckoning will strike. The long knives will come out for all of the uber elite billionaires with their second and third homes in the state. I wouldnt put it past the bleeding hearts to seize these McMansions in the hills so as to allow housing for syrian refugees - while simultaneiously sending the owners a bill for it. . After all " its our moral obligation" - the moonbats will say.
Could not agree more. Have owned a second home in southern Vermont for 18 years. Could never afford to become a VT citizen - the taxes are too high - and I live in NJ.
VT has some of the most generous welfare laws in the nation - it is the riff-raff and deadbeats who are moving in. Heron epidemic in Rutland. There are no jobs that pay a living wage except if you work for government. Or if you own a small niche business. Unending flood of regulations.
The big plus in VT is that it is mostly rural - you can be left alone. Carry a gun 24/7 if you want - no one cares. I have good friends in VT - they know they are trapped.
If it were not for the money imported into VT by second homeowners and ski tourists, VT would have to go bankrupt. This is the Bernie Sanders socialist dystopia.
Vermont IS already bankrupt... I've lived here for 50 years and watched the grand slide downhill. A lot was caused by a change in attitude, first at the local level, later at the state. It used to be a very conservative reactive form of government, now it's very liberal proactive. The local banks weathered the savings and loan pigout debacle, only to be bought out by the multinational giants. The educational reform, known as Act 60 and signed into law by that cocksucker Howard Dean was political gang rape at it's best.
The result was death of small farmers, more sprawl and higher taxes for everyone, no matter what town you lived in. After several hundred years, local control was destroyed by a pen stroke.
Everything is taxed. The towns are also allowed their own private 1% tourist tax, which if you are stupid enough to shop locally, affects you too. Thank god we live close to New Hampshire and can at least shop tax free. Another minor plus is that they haven't yet figured out how to tax Internet purchases and the state is too small for an Amazon presence, so that's also free shipping and no taxes.
Our property tax increased 500% in 25 years, 95% of it for statewide education redistribution.
As retirement approaches, we will have to relocate as they tax SS as well as any pension.
Which is too bad as it extremely beautiful, clean and quiet. The locals are honest, hard working and down to earth.
Their kids are also leaving in droves as there is no future here.
Agreed. We are in the mountains of Windham County, which is one of the poorest in the State. A local 24 year old kid, living about 1 mile from us, overdosed heron before Christmas and died on his bedroom floor. He was 24 years old with a very pregnant girl friend - both heavy into drugs.
The problem in Vermont is only the riff-raff get something out of the tax system. An ordinary person gets nothing. The kids get a $15,000 per year public education - the same cost as in NJ. The problem is that there are no decent jobs for them. A kid, who quit school at 16, can run a lawn mower and snowplow truck just as well as a high school grad. Or, do the work in a convenience store.
The locals here drive to Clarmont, NH once a month to buy everything they need for everyday life. VT gasoline prices are 15% to 20% higher than in NJ. Electric bills are the second highest in the nation after Hawaii. You and I pay a line item surcharge to subsidize poor people.
The kids with the best education leave VT. Even those kids who can inherit a family business. I know one couple that built a very good business from scratch and are in their early 60's. Their two boys are in Denver, making good money. The couple will sell and move West to be able to see their kids and grandkids. It is very sad.
"Which is too bad as it extremely beautiful, clean and quiet. The locals are honest, hard working and down to earth."
I couldnt agree more. It breaks my heart to leave the state but leave we must - the regulations and taxes are killing us. The only industries that are "strong" are the forest products industry and farming and they are on a war path to kill both of them. The leadership in Monpeculiar is utterly and totally mentally ill.
"This is the Bernie Sanders socialist dystopia."
The same geese that enable this Marxist's golden egg he ruthlessly vilifies and desires to kill.
Ahh the irony is not lost ! No sir its not lost!
All i ask of these treasonous cops is that if they are going to come to my house is just shoot me between the running lights, cap my little wife behind the ear, we are both in our 50+ moment and have seen it all, it is just a horrible show of DNV workers and the like.
Nasty Horrible cunt people, God,What a lovely country it was to come to when I was 16, legally.
There is a nasty crowd of Cunts that think working for the government is a good job, they produce nothing other than Hemmeroids for actual producers, a sort of overclass that is a detrimental affliction on the natrion, disgusting half witt toad bag traitors.
By golly i have spoken with many Americans, what wonderfull, delicious people they are and at no time has any one of them taken pride in the Corporate Whorehouse called Washington D.C.. it is a big disgrace,a fundamental lack of understanding by our alleged leader or they are just straigh out trying to kill America. It is a disgracefull situation, it is not about Guns,it is about what the fruck are you thinking Police-man or Sherrif, are you going to upholpdn the nation and protect youyr neighbors or just be c**t ?
Pick one, douche bags, here is a little bit of info for your average street cop, who, under oath, makes a career of robbing his neighbors, Under oath before God and Man, the treasonous halfwit fucks, but let me tell you how I really feel.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/241
The treasonous halfwit cunts also have a bond on file, look that shit up if you desire to slown the march of Cuntism, make a fucking impact, some how some way,or we die.
The government has been shipping black people into our town, from Chicago, nice people, but it just seems to be a little strange to many of us, except for the Jewish communists who are AT TOWN HALL MEETING making new statutes while the working folk be working.
There is a movement underground, all the Cops names have been taken, it is on file, they have been registered, they know where they live, what their kids are called, all that, they will be held to account.Anti-American fuck wad parasite, self deluded, lazy cunts.
There is a thing in the Bible that says a Christian must accept the Government provided by God himself, the statement is true, and the Cop,Congressman, Sherriff or any other gov worker has taken that oath before God and countrymen, you uphold the constitution of the United States or you are a fraudulent weasle fuckwad.
You decdide, we are almost at the gate anyway so your education is near.

I'd rather be fisted morning, noon and night by every inmate in Cell Block Six for life than live one day in New Jersey, New York, or Illinois.
Don't forget Massachusetts.
The added notion "regulation" drives this is not factual. "Regulation" is associated with those aspects of "Blue State" living that are attractive. The problem is corruption, which can be distinguished from regulation.
Most regulation IS corruption. Curbing and coercing behavior through buracratic force and eliminating competition through regulation destroys competition, eliminates price discovery and stifles creativity. Those who cry for "single payer" systems should also support arranged marriages and "soylent green". Choice should be king, whether by the taxpayer or the consumer.
I agree. Most regulation is aimed at workers and mom-and-pop businesses but not at SP500 corporations.
One example: sales taxes on autos. These taxes have "ceilings". If 1 man buys a $100,000 car, he is only taxed on the first $50,000. But if 10 people each buy $10,000 cars, they are all taxed on the full $10,000.
Another example: zoning. For example, you aren't allowed to sell cars except from a "contiguous 5-acre business place", which means that mom-and-pop can't open a small used car business on their 1-acre highway-front property, but Big Dealer can sell those same used cars from his 5-acre highway-front dealership.
Most regulation is regressive. Most taxes are regressive.
This is a BS. Many people who work in Portland Oregon live in Vancouver, Washington to avoid paying OR income tax.
How can someone downrate this?
If you live in Vancouver and work in Oregon you DO pay Oregon income tax.
Run away!
Don't come to Ohio....We are all kind of bland and American like but not obnoxiously so. Our taxes are middling and there are jobs but no jobs and there is money but no money. Stay away.
No problem you can keep it.
Looks like slow-motion ethno-demographic displacement to me.
'Real', 'traditional', 'indigenous', 'post-1620', 'pre-Kennedy', 'European', 'Caucasian', 'white' Americans have embarked on the Great Ingathering.
new jersey? with that gov? kansas? mississippi? etc.
These maps are interesting but need more data. I think you all know that I was out in Idaho recently and am still contemplating that move if the stars align. I know that outstate Illinois and outstate New York have hard working folks who are overtaxed. They might have a chance but things are not as cheap as you think they are out there. You just DO NOT arbitrarily move out to Idaho or anywhere in that area if you do not know what you are doing.
Let me get this straight. Some fat guy from New York City or Chicago is going to convince his wife to move to the middle of the Rocky Mountains and live there? Does that even sound reasonable? No? That is because it is not happening. The other major question is; what are you going to do out there in the West for a living?
I know the data is flawed because you would see a HUGE influx into the socialist state of Minnesomalia. They don't need vans because they just keep breeding.
look at the northeast...big blue Vermont with its constitutional carry no-gunlaws and beautiful scenery is a big draw despite its socialist governor.
Come to Malheur lodge in topless.
Chief Wild Horse Bundy will welcome u with open arms/
I think the trail to follow is the Monarch butterfly's it goes all the way to Costa Rica.
White flight .... mostly ?
Mutated Mountain Lion With Teeth Growing Off the Top of It's Head, In Idaho, Where They Are Pushing for More Radiation
http://nukeprofessional.blogspot.com/2016/01/mutated-mountain-lion-with-teeth.html
What makes this picture of this Idaho Mountain Lion so disgusting is the expected pain and suffering this animal went through before it was "harvested". I suspect this damaged animal had problems in living and getting enough food and was probably prowling around habitated areas.
And even more disgusting? This article was found on the same page as people in Idaho promoting radiation research at Idaho National Lab a 1995 agreement was reached to stop adding radiation to the INL to mitigate contamination of the water aquifer directly below. And this quote from a promoter of "vital spent fuel research". Spent nuclear fuel is the most dirty, most dangerous byproduct of the nuclear energy process. They want more of it. Damn the lions, we need jobs!
How the hell would fats Christie explain this if he became the republican nominee?
West Virginia has about 1/3 the prop taxes as many places in Maryland and northern Virginia. Now that MD is adding to the gas tax about every year (not to mention rain tax and flush tax in MD), the 2 states are about on par in that area. I can see why some are leaving WV, but there are a lot of people moving from high prop tax areas in MD, and northern VA into the border counties of WV to reduce expenses, with only a small increase in commutes.
Pennsylvania. Just a rust belt state with a current governor looking to tax more so it's over priced lousy school system can continue to drain it's citizens. Remember, it's all about the kids.
