Americans Can't Wait To Get Out Of These Five States
A low cost of living, no sales tax, and beautiful scenery (oh, naked bike rides, more strip clubs per capita than any other US city, and legalized weed) means Oregon is the "top moving destination" for Americans for the third year running, according to United Van Lines, with 69% of moves inbound. But, which states are Americans leaving in droves?
Americans continue to pack up and head West and South, according to new data from United Van Lines.
Oregon is the most popular moving destination of 2015 with 69 percent of moves to and from the state being inbound. The state has continued to climb the ranks, increasing inbound migration by 10 percent over the past six years. New to the 2015 top inbound list is another Pacific West state, Washington, which came in at No. 10 with 56 percent inbound moves.
Moving In - The top inbound states of 2015 were:
- Oregon
- South Carolina
- Vermont
- Idaho
- North Carolina
- Florida
- Nevada
- District of Columbia
- Texas
- Washington
The Northeast continues to experience a moving deficit with New Jersey (67 percent outbound) and New York (65 percent) making the list of top outbound states for the fourth consecutive year. Two other states in the region — Connecticut (63 percent) and Massachusetts (57 percent) — also joined the top outbound list this year. The exception to this trend is Vermont (62 percent inbound), which moved up two spots on the list of top inbound states to No. 3.
Moving Out - The top outbound states for 2015 were:
- New Jersey
- New York
- Illinois
- Connecticut
- Ohio
- Kansas
- Massachusetts
- West Virginia
- Mississippi
- Maryland
Simply put, Americans are moving from heavily-regulated, bureaucratic, high cost-of-living states to more affordable states.
This year's data from United Van Lines...

And the interactive version from the last 39 years...
Finally, as The Daily Signal concludes,
Moving patterns show how important cost of living is to American families.
With perfect weather and a booming, high-tech economy, California ought to be the #1 destination. Instead, more moving trucks are leaving the state than entering.

Well don't move to Louisiana..if I could move again Iwould go back to SC ...lived in a area called Tega Cay on Lake Wylie..nice area excellent public school Clover was nice as well
Lafayette La...fucking Bubbas every yahgoo in a jacked up 4x4 and they luvs the mud
Grew up in that area; it's now just a bedroom community of Charlotte, the "Queen City."
If you go back, go to Chester or Ridgeland.
But, SC is now Full. You will have to stop at the Welcome Station, get in line, and take a ticket. Be prepared to wait.
But you have drive thru Daiquiri stands and shrimp po'boys
That's got to count for something.
west virginia? heavily regulated, bureaucratic, high taxes? I guess you have not ever been there ...
the reason people are moving out is that the global alarmists have been winning the war against coal ....
They have killed coal, all the mining and associated jobs.
What most do not understand is that it is actually more environmentally friendly to use a combination of coal and natural gas to generate electricity than gas alone.
We will burn through our gas reserves in a relatively short time span and then the liberal morons will get their wanted power cost spike to make wind and solar 'sustainable'
When this shit happens remember who wanted this because the melt down will start for sure - the 'haves' and 'haves not' will be pronounced.
Hahahahahaaa. Good job Tyler. I still think Ohio is number one. MSM calls it the voters swing state. It's a fucking hell hole of giving me free shit. Do you remember this bitch? I grew up in the rural suburbs. Run for your life. These cunts don't understand the DNC plantation rules. Leave before your wallet is looted.

24 hours after the O-Phones and EBTs die, there is gonna be one hell of a Chimp-Out....
I can't decide whether to be the last person in the state of Ohio or leave.
Another distorted analysis of statistics.
Many people can't afford United Van Lines. But corporate America can.
And therefore the top "moving out" states are among the top corporate states.
Moving companies transport your shit by the pound. Ever wonder why trucks have to exit to re-weight cargo? If you have a duffle bag, you might make it out of Ohio.

Just one more federal database to collect the names of those who don't behave. I'm so sick of hearing this shit on Fox 113. It's the problem, not the solution and they don't have a fucking clue.
Sometimes I think NYS gets a bad rap. Sure, there is a pretty nasty corridor from NYC to Albany, then on to Buffalo, but the rest of the state aint so bad...In my county, I pay 3500 school/prop tax on a 160 acre farm. I've heard it is one of the heaviliest armed counties, so crime is nonexistant. I dont know where the keys to my house are, and havent locked it in 15 years. The keys are in my vehicles at all times. The building, lawn care, farming businesses are all staffed with local labor. There are no mosquitos, poisenous snakes nor cockroaches. The harsh winters keeps the pests at bay, as well as driving most scumbags to warmer climates. I hear that income taxes are high, but when you are a farmer, you dont have to worry about silly things like profits...
There are no mosquitos, poisenous snakes nor cockroaches.
Unlike the city.
Agree 100 percent. We are between Utica and Albany... great scenery, low taxes, clean air and water, mostly white folks around us, and like-minded neighbors. We lived in the city, and then evacuated to the north country five years ago, and have never looked back. For po' folks like me and my wife, state taxes are almost nothing up here... New York State is really two states: NYC/Hudson valley/Syracuse/Rochester/Buffalo; and then there are the normal parts... My attitude toward the ones leaving: thanks for coming, and make sure you close the door behind you when you leave.
mostly white folks around us,
Have you ever read anything that stated "mostly colored folks around us" as a positive attribute? Why is that? Why are colored people so undesirable to live around?
Rap music?
It seems in this world the idea that Latinos, Jews, Asians...desire to live in areas that are populated by people of the same race, is acceptable, (both here and in their native lands, if they migrated) but if a "white" person wants to live around other people of the same race or CULTURE, it has been deemed racist and unacceptable.
Now one can look back at a history of racism in America, and say that is why we are given a different threshold of what is racist, but that reasoning presumes "racism" ONLY happens when it happens in America. Where in the world, China, Mexico, Africa, does some aspect of racism not exists? And why in the world are they able to practice it and not white people?
Because Americans have been manipulated by a zionist/Jewish organizations to work against our own self interests and for theirs. They use politically correct contrived psychology to manipulate US people to shut down discussion. Allowing the lowest voices, zionist media to set the tone and frame the argument.
The responsibility of every government is to work for the betterment of its people, not the world's population.
Of course while open borders is a primary goal over every Jewish/Zionist organization in America and Europe, they themselves practice strict race controls in Israel, using DNA testing to insure PURITY!

The worst part of this story is lost on most. Those fleeing those over regulated, high tax states bring their stupid libtard bull_hit with them to the voting booth.
Proof in the putting is Florida. The state is being overrun with dumb ass jerks from the northeast, i.e. dumbocrat libtards.
Just what we need, more Debbie-Wassermann-Schults dirt bags voting in our state. Our only hope is that the heat, humidity and west Nile mosquitoes kill them before they ever get into a voting booth.
Do you remember the NJ exit tax? It's like living in Hotel California.
N.J.'s exit tax: So baffling, even officials can't explain it | NJ.com
Fucking Jersey - east coast union haven
Vermont? Drive around the state and witness for yourself the rudest inconsiderate drivers ever! My guess is they are transplants from NY NJ CN and MA - bringing their bad habits and attitude with them.
Not surprised N.J. is number 1 . .
I came of age there back in the 70's, granted, when you're young things take on a different perspective but I loved it. Wasn't too crowded, the job market was excellent, housing was relatively inexpensive and there's so much to do between the Jersey shore, ski slopes and proximity to NYC.
Well, I left New Jersey 15 years ago for Northern Florida because of what it became. First of course is the expense. Second, you spend half your life in a car. Third, all the New Yorker's moved to N.J. Fourth, the liberal agenda. Fifth and probably most, the people in general really suck but I think that goes for the entire northeast. Much happier here only I do miss the cooler weather . . .other than that, good riddance.
Third, all the New Yorker's moved to N.J.
Yes. The northern border is filled with NY liberals who left for lower taxes and affordable homes. Now both states are about on par.
Second, you spend half your life in a car.
Not any more. My 40 mile commuting times have decreased tremendously.
I'm in Vermont and I find the tax situation to be just plain stupid. This has got to be the state with biggest population of socialist retards in the whole damn country. Putting all that aside ( hard to do sometimes ) but we've got (IMO) some of the most beautiful natural land that exists and the interplay between man and nature is almost seemless. One gets the feeling that all these 200 year old farm houses and delapidated barns actually do belong there. The hiking, hunting, fishing, and skiiing are some of the best in the country. AND the strong support for local farmers has allowed me to make a living doing what I love best. There isnt a farmers market in the whole state that isn't packed with eager customers. Weekends are a mob scene.
If I ever do decide to move though I know exactly where I'll go, no doubt....Kentucky. Very under-rated state. Some of the lowest property taxes in the country, no income tax, solid 4rth amendment rights, mild weather yet you get 4 complete seasons, and any state that would elect Rand Paul to senate cant be all bad.
The only reason you are making a living at a farmers market in Vermont is all the frking flatlanders from CT-NY-NJ who got their annual (anal) bonus checks and are up for the 4 times a year visit to their VT Mc Mansion. Sorry to sound so jaded, but we are all so glad they come and leave their$$.
Note to our guests:
Just don't stay and just don't bring your deluded f*ckd up life style with you.
Yes, your shit DOES stink!
But it pays the bills
Thanks MoFo. Keep on comin. Leave cash.
Not everyone hires a moving company when relocating. I would like to see an in-depth analysis of migration using UHaul records.
NC is one of the most high tax States.
The tax wealth holdings too, weird tax structure.
I want to move to Oregon so the BLM can force me to sell my land to the government, and they will brand me as a terrorist and throw me in jail if I don't.
The problem is that they vote for the same "sound good" scumbags that ruined the place they fled from. They are a virus, a contagion, spreading despair and failed policy.
Judging by the comments here, the inbound states are hardly any better than the outbound states. Sounds more like a grass-is-greener delusion.
Unless you leave the country, there is no escaping the feds. And IMO, other countries are no better and often worse.
At least in the USSA, if you were born here, you have a pretty good understanding of your local environment. Though I live in Jersey, that's why I'm not tempted to move.
Yes, SC is poverty-ridden! There is no food there. I have to ship food back from Bangalore!
They are out of EBTs, O-Phones, and houses/apartments!
The place is full of Rednecks and nobody can read or write! Stay Away!
Utah is the place to be! Free stuffs, plenty of great, rich farm land, plenty of rain and lots of free room for ranches, homes and livestock! Go Utah!
You better be a moonbat Mormon, or they will blackball you as sure as shit. Mormons love their cheap labor Latinos, but no one else. If you wish to move to Utah, you better know what you are in for.
Suggest you move to Cuba. We will take over Washington DC tyranny. Had a good laugh on Cruz Birth certificate vs Obama three level parist PDF file.
.....and then you have places like South Florida which is nothing more than heavily taxed Hispaniola(Cubans, Haitians, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans). While there is no Income Tax, real estate taxes and insurance are sky high. So is the price of food. There is so much corruption here, it makes Louisiana and Mississippi look civil. And then you have the steamy humid weather and flying vermin everywhere. In my opinion, the place is uninhabitable unless you stay inside an air-conditioned room. It's also ugly and flat. Everyone cut their trees during the 1990s and early 2000's because of hurricanes so it now looks tree-less, semi-arid landscape unless it's swamp or beachfront.
You forgot the aligators in the back yard.
Those are for snacks and barbecue
We call those 'garbage disposals'. Anything you kill goes to the lake, never to be seen again.
NYC mobsters love Florida.
No digging holes.
SC is Full. Repeat, SC is Full!
Attempt no Landings there!
Yeah it is turning into a shit hole anywhere near the ocean.
Really, Mr. and Mrs. Durden, you should make this an ongoing thread - call it "Habitat for Leaving" or something. It's fascinating hearing everyone's reportage from places big and small. Also distressing, but how else to keep up with facts on the ground across 3000 miles?
Interesting to find Florida on the "Moving In" list. It is not the kind of place to be when the shit goes down even in the rural area that we lived. It is impossible to get far enough away from heavily populated major metropolitan areas. Moved out last year after spending my entire 58 years there and hunkered down in the mountains west of the Mississippi.
Florida. Just wait till the next major hurricane. Florida's shoreline is now lined with 3-story McSpeculations and 10-story condos from Georgia to Key West and back up to Alabama, so the damage from Hurricane Next is going to dwarf Hurricane Andrew. Then everyone's homeowner AND auto insurance bills will double, and the State, the Counties, and the Cities will all invent new government taxes and "fees" to "recover from the unforeseeable emergency".
People are moving to Oregon because of "white flight" out of California. But what is driving whites north, is already the fastest growing population in lilly white Oregon, Latinos. California is a majority Latino state, but as I previously lived in Oregon I can tell you it is ripe for Californication. Oregon is already in the top 5 for food stamps and government assistance use, and it will only get worse.

The idea that were idiots are moving somehow adds value to there THEY move is pretty stupid. The LAST thing I want is more people moving to where I am. Growth is NEVER good, and everyplace I have lived was a far nicer place 40 years ago than it is today, by a great degree: Florida was great in the 60's, 70's, as was Southern Cal, San Fran, NYC, Denver, Seattle...40 years ago, many places in America were heaven, now they are all well on their way to becoming 3rd world cities.
Growth is NEVER good,
Growth was "absolutely necessary" as the invaders of the American continents were pushing back the frontiers. That is pretty much done in North America. In the olden days of Oregon (the days of the Oregon trail), early on the immigrants were welcomed. Once the older residents had established a foothold the new immigrants began to be treated very badly.
Why are you putting in quotes "absolutely necessary", who said that?
Movement into America, is movement into America. All people's want better land, room to grow, the POINT HERE IS, self deafening policies. I don't blame Latinos or anyone else for wanting NOW what we have, the problem is the zionist forces that push for open borders against the welfare of this nation, period.
http://newobserveronline.com/jews-demand-open-borders-for-usa-but-use-dn...
Humans are humans, and governments are supposed to work for the betterment of THEIR people.
Why are you putting in quotes "absolutely necessary", who said that?
I don't know if anyone "said" it. I use quotes for emphasis as well as to literally repeat what someone said (or wrote). If you have a better style, you have my attention.
the problem is the zionist forces that push for open borders against the welfare of this nation, period.
Those Zionist forces were once a mass immigration instance (late 1800's, early 1900's). Before that (and even more after that) Jews were a pariah in the USA. Maybe 100 years from now those Zionists will be writing about "Latino forces" spoiling their nest.
Humans are humans, and governments are supposed to work for the betterment of THEIR people.
Says who? Supposedly our government is "of the people, by the people, for the people". But that "quote" wasn't made until about 80 years after the government was "declared" by a small collection of people meeting in Philadelphia.
Why are Europeans "invaders" (I am making that assumption based on your comment, you can correct me if I am wrong), and Latinos "new immigrants"?
Sounds like you are practicing a bit of zionist racism yourself.
PC controls, white/Europeans do anything to preserve their culture we are racist and xenophobic, but when someone of "color", works to preserve their culture it is to be praised?!
Hypocrisy, they name is NEO-LIBERALISM/Zionism: http://newobserveronline.com/jews-demand-open-borders-for-usa-but-use-dn...
Why are Europeans "invaders" (I am making that assumption based on your comment, you can correct me if I am wrong), and Latinos "new immigrants"?
I was careful to leave that (i.e. who the invaders were) undefined. The invadees were the aboriginal occupants of the continent before the 1500's. They were not able to defend their claim to the territory.
I don't view Latinos as "new immigrants" ... especially if they are here illegally (i.e. violating immigration laws ... which are of course arbitrary and political). I am under no illusion that I will be protected by my government from this invsion. I am also under no illusion that I will be able to protect myself from these invaders and my government that supports them.
It's a problem.
