Americans Can't Wait To Get Out Of These Five States
A low cost of living, no sales tax, and beautiful scenery (oh, naked bike rides, more strip clubs per capita than any other US city, and legalized weed) means Oregon is the "top moving destination" for Americans for the third year running, according to United Van Lines, with 69% of moves inbound. But, which states are Americans leaving in droves?
Americans continue to pack up and head West and South, according to new data from United Van Lines.
Oregon is the most popular moving destination of 2015 with 69 percent of moves to and from the state being inbound. The state has continued to climb the ranks, increasing inbound migration by 10 percent over the past six years. New to the 2015 top inbound list is another Pacific West state, Washington, which came in at No. 10 with 56 percent inbound moves.
Moving In - The top inbound states of 2015 were:
- Oregon
- South Carolina
- Vermont
- Idaho
- North Carolina
- Florida
- Nevada
- District of Columbia
- Texas
- Washington
The Northeast continues to experience a moving deficit with New Jersey (67 percent outbound) and New York (65 percent) making the list of top outbound states for the fourth consecutive year. Two other states in the region — Connecticut (63 percent) and Massachusetts (57 percent) — also joined the top outbound list this year. The exception to this trend is Vermont (62 percent inbound), which moved up two spots on the list of top inbound states to No. 3.
Moving Out - The top outbound states for 2015 were:
- New Jersey
- New York
- Illinois
- Connecticut
- Ohio
- Kansas
- Massachusetts
- West Virginia
- Mississippi
- Maryland
Simply put, Americans are moving from heavily-regulated, bureaucratic, high cost-of-living states to more affordable states.
This year's data from United Van Lines...

And the interactive version from the last 39 years...
Finally, as The Daily Signal concludes,
Moving patterns show how important cost of living is to American families.
With perfect weather and a booming, high-tech economy, California ought to be the #1 destination. Instead, more moving trucks are leaving the state than entering.

Growth is NEVER good,
Growth was "absolutely necessary" as the invaders of the American continents were pushing back the frontiers. That is pretty much done in North America. In the olden days of Oregon (the days of the Oregon trail), early on the immigrants were welcomed. Once the older residents had established a foothold the new immigrants began to be treated very badly.
Why are you putting in quotes "absolutely necessary", who said that?
Movement into America, is movement into America. All people's want better land, room to grow, the POINT HERE IS, self deafening policies. I don't blame Latinos or anyone else for wanting NOW what we have, the problem is the zionist forces that push for open borders against the welfare of this nation, period.

Humans are humans, and governments are supposed to work for the betterment of THEIR people.
Why are you putting in quotes "absolutely necessary", who said that?
I don't know if anyone "said" it. I use quotes for emphasis as well as to literally repeat what someone said (or wrote). If you have a better style, you have my attention.
the problem is the zionist forces that push for open borders against the welfare of this nation, period.
Those Zionist forces were once a mass immigration instance (late 1800's, early 1900's). Before that (and even more after that) Jews were a pariah in the USA. Maybe 100 years from now those Zionists will be writing about "Latino forces" spoiling their nest.
Humans are humans, and governments are supposed to work for the betterment of THEIR people.
Says who? Supposedly our government is "of the people, by the people, for the people". But that "quote" wasn't made until about 80 years after the government was "declared" by a small collection of people meeting in Philadelphia.
Why are Europeans "invaders" (I am making that assumption based on your comment, you can correct me if I am wrong), and Latinos "new immigrants"?
Sounds like you are practicing a bit of zionist racism yourself.
PC controls, white/Europeans do anything to preserve their culture we are racist and xenophobic, but when someone of "color", works to preserve their culture it is to be praised?!
Hypocrisy, they name is NEO-LIBERALISM/Zionism: http://newobserveronline.com/jews-demand-open-borders-for-usa-but-use-dn...
Why are Europeans "invaders" (I am making that assumption based on your comment, you can correct me if I am wrong), and Latinos "new immigrants"?
I was careful to leave that (i.e. who the invaders were) undefined. The invadees were the aboriginal occupants of the continent before the 1500's. They were not able to defend their claim to the territory.
I don't view Latinos as "new immigrants" ... especially if they are here illegally (i.e. violating immigration laws ... which are of course arbitrary and political). I am under no illusion that I will be protected by my government from this invsion. I am also under no illusion that I will be able to protect myself from these invaders and my government that supports them.
It's a problem.
Can anybody comment on the idea of moving to the gulf coast of Alabama? I am looking for an inexpensive place to retire where I can play golf year round. My wife likes the beach and they have the Robert Trent Jones golf trail.
Please see my comment on Florida. I believe there is a RISK that another major hurricane will drive insurance rates up astronomically. Especially on the coastline. But also throughout the State, since many insurance companies "spread the risk" to all within the State.
There is also a tax and fee risk, since the State government will naturally attempt to "spread the cost" to all within the State.
Therefore, although I hate to admit it, there may be some financial advantage in moving somewhere outside the USA, to some place where insurance is not required.
Of course, if you can live without home insurance and without a car (and thus without auto insurance), you could dodget the insurance bullet. But I don't know how you could dodge the State government taxes and fees.
"The USA doesn't have communism. It just has insurance companies".
Danke
Why Kansas?
lunatic tea bagger gov, and way too many inbred westboro types spouting jebus
They definitely fear god there. I've never been anywhere with more huge churches.
Kansas is mostly agricultural. In the olden days towns started up every 10 miles or so (a 1/2 day ride). Major trading towns were found every 50 miles or so. With today's transportation and communications that infrastructure is no longer affordable or efficient. Walmart took over. You can drive though Kansas and see these little towns borded up ... one right after the other.
the people headed west ran out of money
Have you been to Kansas? I'd leave, too.
Simply put, Americans are moving from heavily-regulated, bureaucratic, high cost-of-living states to more affordable states.
But it's not static. Soon (actually right now) the people of Oregon increase regulation, bureaucracy and cost of living. Oregon is a master at receiving more from the Federal government than it sends to the Federal government. It is terribly socialistic ... to each according to his ability ... from each according to his need. They are truly control freeks there.
There once was a time when Michigan and Illinois would top such a list. Then those who desire to control others got a foothold and soiled those nests. In Oregon and Washington these types already are firmly established. It's against the law to collect rain water in Oregon.
There once was a great migration from Michigan to Texas (oil boom of the 1970's and auto bust of the same period). When oil busted, they went back to Michigan.
yes, but feel the walls closing in . . there will soon be no place to escape too. Federal government is making that happen each day. . .
I lived in Fl. for 5 years. It's not as wonderful as they make it to be. No real jobs with real money, unless you're a doctor, a lawyer or a drug dealer. With such a huge influx on people moving to to the land of sunshine, I just can't see the state functioning without a state tax.
The biggest industries in Florida are agriculture, phosphate-mining, tourism, and retirement. Agriculture, phosphate-mining, and tourism pay low, and retirement pays nothing. So I think a state income tax would generate little. Doctoring pays, since retirees need doctors, but I think many Family Practice Physicians are closing shop because insurance companies are getting so difficult to work with. Wills, insurance, homes require lawyers. Retirees want homes, air conditioning, restaurants, cars, television, health care, medicine. So, sales taxes and utility fees. I think there just isn't that much money in Florida.
Here in Florida I have met lots of folks who have yachts (motor and sail) provisioned and at the ready to flee the USA when things go sideways. Some even live in marinas aboard motor yachts in readiness. They all have Winlink2000 that uses HF ham radio frequencies with dubious legality (encrypted messages are always prohibited on ham radio frequencies).
I know some of these folks and I can't fathom their thinking. I lived in the Carribean for ten years and they are mostly dependent upon foreign economies. When things go bad if you are not a native then you will simply become a source of goods to be looted and if you have women, even worse.
where are they going to go, Cuba, that should make for an interesting media image, boat people in reverse
.gov people AKA Gimmie-Dat's....
Moving in - DC number 8... translation, more taxes coming to support the shit storm of ever growing government bureaucracies and their sloth payroll.
the people in the NE who dont have the busfare for Portland just slide down the coast as far as their money will take them. PACNW rules
Is it not obvious from these comments that all this movement is away from government? None of them say
"I moved to so-and-so because they had lots of government."
Make you wonder why the general population looks to government first to solve problems?
And have you noticed the only time governments tell you to work out problems for yourself is in cases where they're already being paid to be responsible for working the problems?
same graphic as the late 1800's, then people going west couldn't get to california because of the desert. welcome to post civil war america.
You guys are racist fucks for the most part. Most of you are equating blacks with crime when the reality is poor people = crime. Many urban blacks are poor and underclass (thanks to billions spent on programs designed to destroy the black family) and have an alternate outlook on things.
But not all of them.
And it sucks to be a decent black person because you get stuck with all of the stereotyping, all of the fear, all of the anger that white people have for black people due to something the criminal minority has done. The vast majority of the 30+ million AA's are not lazy, dumb nor violent.
I'd believe you . . . if I never looked @ the FBI crime stats or lived in Harlem.
I have. He's basicly right.
The fuck he's right. Look @ Africa. Look @ the UK crime stats. Niggers are a burden on modern society EVERYWHERE. Go sell your snake oil to the Chinese and Russians. They need more niggers!
Not every Irishman is a drunk either.
But when you get a bunch of them together...
People are not born racist, it results from one experiences. What to end it? You know you can do it anytime, first admit that blacks are also racist and are obsessed with the color of their skin. Second give up your edge, remove the word African from African American and become an 'American'. Reject your special treatment and victim status and stop blaming white people who basically get their asses kicked every day just trying to make ends meet for your unhappiness. Do you have any idea how sick we are of hearing bullshit like yours. But, it's in your interest to perpetuate the hatred and how do you do it, by blaming powerless white people for somehow dealing you a crappy hand when most of us had shit dealt to us as well. You probably can't except the fact the a white person doesn't like you for who you are and has nothing to do with your skin color.
Wyoming has just made it illegal to photograph pollution (if such photos are used to file a complaint).

Americans need to stop buying into white guilt and get back to caring about our children's future, they are our responsibility, not caring for the poor choices that Mexico or anyone else makes.
We seem to have no problem bombing people (which I am fervently against) but when it comes to securing our borders, or making citizenship a privileged and not a universal right, we are incapacitated by white guilt.
This is of course because there has been a movement afoot both here, Europe and the Middle East (and Russia, but not for Putin) by zionists to create one world, no borders no sovereignty, save Israel.

by the time I finished reading all the comments I forgot what the topic of the article was...oh yeah moving on, kinda reminds me of the Joel song

Illinois has stopped sending letters to vehicle owners reminding them to renew their vehicle registrations. Used to get a one month’s heads up that the registration was expiring. Now, the state is taking in millions in fines from expired registrations. Minimum fine is $100.00 plus the police get the opportunity to 'inspect’ the vehicle and tack on more fines. What’s next? Are they going to play ‘hide the property tax bill’?
why is this website duplicating my post?
You are aware they're sending the reminders by email, if you will provide an address? Nevertheless, its apparent they aren't just trying to save money on postage.
Now, if only rents can start falling along with them.
Nobody talks about the hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans, who are natural born American citizens, fleeing every year from the debt ridden island of Puerto Rico to the mainland, mostly Florida. The great socialist experiment of Al Gore, Sr. (the VP's dad) and Franklin Delano Roosevelt has turned into a massive bureaucratic government debt ridden island ready for bankruptcy and default.
Yeah, go Oregon. Global Headquarters of the Free Shit Army.
The trend of the exodus from the NE to places warmer and less regulated also parallels the retirement curve of the Baby Boomers. Many are fleeing what one wag artfully termed their "partners in real estate" - oppressive school board levies on real property, with one partner having the force of state to back up their unilateral money grabs. Having lived in Washington State some years ago, I forecast it as just a West coast NJ in waiting on a longer timeline.
They are economic refugees who will vote to create the same hell hole they just moved away from. They are a plague of locust.
Rumor has it we're thinking of implementing here in NC and SC passport controls to keep Yankees and "dem dang furners" out of this state. Once them Yankees come in then they want all the services they had in the NE, crime goes up, property prices skyrocket and them " and Yankees furners"vote liberal like sheep to slaughter.......
Correction the city of Hurley.Wisconsin has the most strip clubs per capita.
More like people are retiring from NY/NJ/CT/Chicago and moving to the sun in NC/SC/FL/NV as they have been doing for years. zzzzzzzzz
