Americans Can't Wait To Get Out Of These Five States

Tyler Durden's picture

A low cost of living, no sales tax, and beautiful scenery (oh, naked bike rides, more strip clubs per capita than any other US city, and legalized weed) means Oregon is the "top moving destination" for Americans for the third year running, according to United Van Lines, with 69% of moves inbound. But, which states are Americans leaving in droves?

Americans continue to pack up and head West and South, according to new data from United Van Lines.

Oregon is the most popular moving destination of 2015 with 69 percent of moves to and from the state being inbound. The state has continued to climb the ranks, increasing inbound migration by 10 percent over the past six years. New to the 2015 top inbound list is another Pacific West state, Washington, which came in at No. 10 with 56 percent inbound moves.

Moving In - The top inbound states of 2015 were:

  1. Oregon
  2. South Carolina
  3. Vermont
  4. Idaho
  5. North Carolina
  6. Florida
  7. Nevada
  8. District of Columbia
  9. Texas
  10. Washington

The Northeast continues to experience a moving deficit with New Jersey (67 percent outbound) and New York (65 percent) making the list of top outbound states for the fourth consecutive year. Two other states in the region — Connecticut (63 percent) and Massachusetts (57 percent) — also joined the top outbound list this year. The exception to this trend is Vermont (62 percent inbound), which moved up two spots on the list of top inbound states to No. 3.

Moving Out - The top outbound states for 2015 were:

  1. New Jersey
  2. New York
  3. Illinois
  4. Connecticut
  5. Ohio
  6. Kansas
  7. Massachusetts
  8. West Virginia
  9. Mississippi
  10. Maryland

Simply put, Americans are moving from heavily-regulated, bureaucratic, high cost-of-living states to more affordable states.

This year's data from United Van Lines...

And the interactive version from the last 39 years...

Finally, as The Daily Signal concludes,

Moving patterns show how important cost of living is to American families.

With perfect weather and a booming, high-tech economy, California ought to be the #1 destination. Instead, more moving trucks are leaving the state than entering.

Simply put, Americans are moving from heavily-regulated, bureaucratic, high cost-of-living states to more affordable states.

But it's not static. Soon (actually right now) the people of Oregon increase regulation, bureaucracy and cost of living. Oregon is a master at receiving more from the Federal government than it sends to the Federal government. It is terribly socialistic ... to each according to his ability ... from each according to his need. They are truly control freeks there.

There once was a time when Michigan and Illinois would top such a list. Then those who desire to control others got a foothold and soiled those nests. In Oregon and Washington these types already are firmly established. It's against the law to collect rain water in Oregon.

There once was a great migration from Michigan to Texas (oil boom of the 1970's and auto bust of the same period). When oil busted, they went back to Michigan.

I lived in Fl. for 5 years. It's not as wonderful as they make it to be. No real jobs with real money, unless you're a doctor, a lawyer or a drug dealer. With such a huge influx on people moving to to the land of sunshine, I just can't see the state functioning without a state tax.

The biggest industries in Florida are agriculture, phosphate-mining, tourism, and retirement.  Agriculture, phosphate-mining, and tourism pay low, and retirement pays nothing.  So I think a state income tax would generate little.  Doctoring pays, since retirees need doctors, but I think many Family Practice Physicians are closing shop because insurance companies are getting so difficult to work with.  Wills, insurance, homes require lawyers.  Retirees want homes, air conditioning, restaurants, cars, television, health care, medicine.  So, sales taxes and utility fees.  I think there just isn't that much money in Florida.

Here in Florida I have met lots of folks who have yachts (motor and sail) provisioned and at the ready to flee the USA when things go sideways. Some even live in marinas aboard motor yachts in readiness. They all have Winlink2000 that uses HF ham radio frequencies with dubious legality (encrypted messages are always prohibited on ham radio frequencies).

I know some of these folks and I can't fathom their thinking.  I lived in the Carribean for ten years and they are mostly dependent upon foreign economies.  When things go bad if you are not a native then you will simply become a source of goods to be looted and if you have women, even worse.

Is it not obvious from these comments that all this movement is away from government? None of them say
"I moved to so-and-so because they had lots of government."

Make you wonder  why the general population looks to government first to solve problems?

And have you noticed the only time governments tell you to work out problems for yourself is in cases where they're already being paid to be responsible for working the problems?

You guys are racist fucks for the most part.  Most of you are equating blacks with crime when the reality is poor people = crime.  Many urban blacks are poor and underclass (thanks to billions spent on programs designed to destroy the black family) and have an alternate outlook on things.

But not all of them.

And it sucks to be a decent black person because you get stuck with all of the stereotyping, all of the fear, all of the anger that white people have for black people due to something the criminal minority has done.  The vast majority of the 30+ million AA's are not lazy, dumb nor violent.

People are not born racist, it results from one experiences.  What to end it? You know you can do it anytime, first admit that blacks are also racist and are obsessed with the color of their skin. Second give up your edge, remove the word African from African American and become an 'American'. Reject your special treatment and victim status and stop blaming white people who basically get their asses kicked every day just trying to make ends meet for your unhappiness. Do you have any idea how sick we are of hearing bullshit like yours.  But, it's in your interest to perpetuate the hatred and how do you do it, by blaming powerless white people for somehow dealing you a crappy hand when most of us had shit dealt to us as well. You probably can't except the fact the a white person doesn't like you for who you are and has nothing to do with your skin color.

From today's ZH: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-01-08/cultural-marxism-explained-7-mi...

Americans need to stop buying into white guilt and get back to caring about our children's future, they are our responsibility, not caring for the poor choices that Mexico or anyone else makes.

We seem to have no problem bombing people (which I am fervently against) but when it comes to securing our borders, or making citizenship a privileged and not a universal right, we are incapacitated by white guilt.

This is of course because there has been a movement afoot both here, Europe and the Middle East (and Russia, but not for Putin) by zionists to create one world, no borders no sovereignty, save Israel.

Illinois has stopped sending letters to vehicle owners reminding them to renew their vehicle registrations. Used to get a one month’s heads up that the registration was expiring. Now, the state is taking in millions in fines from expired registrations. Minimum fine is $100.00 plus the police get the opportunity to 'inspect’ the vehicle and tack on more fines. What’s next? Are they going to play ‘hide the property tax bill’?

Nobody talks about the hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans, who are natural born American citizens, fleeing every year from the debt ridden island of Puerto Rico to the mainland, mostly Florida. The great socialist experiment of Al Gore, Sr. (the VP's dad) and Franklin Delano Roosevelt has turned into a massive bureaucratic government debt ridden island ready for bankruptcy and default.

The trend of the exodus from the NE to places warmer and less regulated also parallels the retirement curve of the Baby Boomers.  Many are fleeing what one wag artfully termed their "partners in real estate" - oppressive school board levies on real property, with one partner having the force of state to back up their unilateral money grabs.  Having lived in Washington State some years ago, I forecast it as just a West coast NJ in waiting on a longer timeline.

Not enough people will leave the east coast to make a difference. I can dream though, can't I?

Have fun getting your cash stolen by the police in the former Confederate states. At least on the east coast they look us in the eye and rob us through excessive taxes. When the SHTF peashooters (anything below military grade) won't make a lick of difference against tanks and drones.

I don't understand why anyone would want to live in Oregon.  Although the summers are the best in the country, it rains most of the year and has one of the top 3 highest state taxes in the country, 9.x% that kicks in around $6k.  Plus if you live in Portland, you get to pay an Arts Tax yearly.  What other place has such bullshit?  I could understand a science and engineering tax because those professions actually produce something that improves society, but arts tax is totally bullshit.
