Americans Can't Wait To Get Out Of These Five States
A low cost of living, no sales tax, and beautiful scenery (oh, naked bike rides, more strip clubs per capita than any other US city, and legalized weed) means Oregon is the "top moving destination" for Americans for the third year running, according to United Van Lines, with 69% of moves inbound. But, which states are Americans leaving in droves?
Americans continue to pack up and head West and South, according to new data from United Van Lines.
Oregon is the most popular moving destination of 2015 with 69 percent of moves to and from the state being inbound. The state has continued to climb the ranks, increasing inbound migration by 10 percent over the past six years. New to the 2015 top inbound list is another Pacific West state, Washington, which came in at No. 10 with 56 percent inbound moves.
Moving In - The top inbound states of 2015 were:
- Oregon
- South Carolina
- Vermont
- Idaho
- North Carolina
- Florida
- Nevada
- District of Columbia
- Texas
- Washington
The Northeast continues to experience a moving deficit with New Jersey (67 percent outbound) and New York (65 percent) making the list of top outbound states for the fourth consecutive year. Two other states in the region — Connecticut (63 percent) and Massachusetts (57 percent) — also joined the top outbound list this year. The exception to this trend is Vermont (62 percent inbound), which moved up two spots on the list of top inbound states to No. 3.
Moving Out - The top outbound states for 2015 were:
- New Jersey
- New York
- Illinois
- Connecticut
- Ohio
- Kansas
- Massachusetts
- West Virginia
- Mississippi
- Maryland
Simply put, Americans are moving from heavily-regulated, bureaucratic, high cost-of-living states to more affordable states.
This year's data from United Van Lines...

And the interactive version from the last 39 years...
Finally, as The Daily Signal concludes,
Moving patterns show how important cost of living is to American families.
With perfect weather and a booming, high-tech economy, California ought to be the #1 destination. Instead, more moving trucks are leaving the state than entering.

Christies Jersey Comeback.
I had a friend in NH buy piss online in a bag to get a decent manufacturing job at Sig Sauer. Of course it isnt an American company, he actually makes a living wage. Inagine that.
moving wont lower your taxes when you have a federal gov redistribution plan. you end up paying no matter what.............
Statistic from one moving company means nothing.
They have Utah as outbound while the state is growing.
Also the line "Simply put, Americans are moving from heavily-regulated, bureaucratic, high cost-of-living states to more affordable states." is false if people are moving to Oregon and Washington. These are lefty states going more left and adding more regulation constantly.
I live in Seattle and hate this ducking city. One of the highest percentages of educated morons I have ever seen. Like Oregon, this state is littered with rejects from California.
2016 is the year when I leave this state and hope for a 9.9 quake to hit this city as soon as I am gone.
I chose Indiana over Washington State ...
(too many jerks in WA state)
(including my relations)

we moved from high taxed Maine to no income tax TN, saved about $15,000 a year. mild weather, low cost of living and juull of bitter clingers, my type of people.
I like TN, I lived in Nashville for 4 years.
Our daughter lived in TN for a few years, she loved it.
Funny how California isn't mentioned.....by far the largest economy of any state and run by the most liberal state government in the country. And it is listed as 'balanced'.
And what do the 'top 5' states actually contribute to the world that have caused such a 'in-flow'? We'll see how long these 'in-flows' last....
Massive white flight from CA. Inbound is foreign.
"Ching, Chang, Chong ..."
(that's "you're correct" in pigeon chinese)
I coined a word for it:

i think the biggest thing the top 5 states (generally) have is affordable land & low density.
re-urbanization/creative economy stuff is all hype... people who aspire to be more than a barista are moving OUT of cities and buying land. the hipsters love "the city" until they have kids... good luck finding/affording a good school in (most) US cities.
Everybody dumb and you are smart. STFU and learn.
See the way it works is they ship all the illegals in to those states. Then "We the people" all leave.
it doesn't matter where you move. if it's nice a bunch of scumbags are going to want to move in right next to you and fuck it up. then you move again, and they follow again. kansas sucks? bullshit. I want to start my own town there. Population: 1.
Sounds like Wyoming is the last refuge for you.
I once drove through a town there with a sign, Population: 4
I'm just glad life doesn't last forever because that would suck ass if it did.
Amen, Bro.
(I'm not afraid to say it.)
If, as you say "it would suck to live forever", then this might help explain why Yahweh was always pissed off, and Jesus (with a built-in 'expiration' date) wasn't.
;-)
Whenyou say that Oregan "...has more strip clubs per capita than any other US city...", you might be curious to know that Oregan isn't actually a city. I'm guessing that you're from Europe?
Apologies for being pedantic.
you use the word "pedantic" and accuse them of being from europe? lulz
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_City,_Oregon
And yes...It would not suprise me that Oregon City has more strip clubs per capita than any other US city as it is part of the Portland Metropolitan Area.
Is that pedantic enough?
That name is "Oregon City" not "Oregon" so his criticism was technically correct and he was much more pedantic than you.
I grew up in rural Maine where escape was an attractive option in the 70s leading up to a depression in 1983. On a return visit during a stint in the air force I met an ancient ruling class member who had been a benefactor to my divorced artist mother. He said that "true Mainahs" compared emigrants to the pot seeds you get when cleaning weed. The good stuff remains.
An example of not so benevolent paternalism.
And the emigrants smoke them as they're leaving.
You know he was insulting you, right?
"benefactor". Hmmm intriguing
And the first thing the fucking tards from the BiG Blue states do is try and turn their new state into the same shit hole they fled from.
Welcome to my nightmare - that's what happened to WA state in my lifetime. About the only thing they've gotten right is legalized weed - and they've even managed to fuck that up a little.
I grew up in a good state, with quirky, hard working, people.
(WA state is now a douche paradise for struggling Indian, Chinese, and Pakistani code monkeys)
(throw in some euro-trash as well)
(fuck seattle - fuck WA state)

"Libprog douchebaggery" ~ perfect description of the left coast zeitgeist.
Blame the tech sector for pushing out experienced natives in favor of cheap incompetent slave H1Bs, and blame the government for helping 'em.
It's much easier to blame the Immigrants and Kews, than to blame our non-activist, see-nothing, hear-nothing, say-nothing scared and intimidated white asses. And we have the gall to lecture the Europeans about their Open Borders!?
Our ancestors worked, bled, fought or died to create the society we now take for granted and which we assume as some kind of Entitlement, w/o having to reinvest in it ourselves.
Clearly the Latinos and Asians are teaching us that lessons again: Darwinism rules, bitchez!
Seriously, I have been stranded in Idaho for nearly 70 years. You don't want to come here. Why just the other day we had temperature down to -2 in the evening. Today has been a warmer temperature but...the last two days have been extremely foggy with visability down to less than 100 feet. The moisture in the air feels incredibly cold, and it's January for cripes sake. Normally, it used to be 68 degrees this time of year. Here in Idaho we don't have affordable housing, electricity, utilities, nothing. We import our gas from Haiti and it is so damn expensive! The only thing we have to eat (common folk) are potatoes. You may think that is a no brainer but..all of our good potatoes are exported to foreign countries. The potatoes we get here are from Minnissota and Kansas. Mexicans make up 68% of the population. Nothing against Mexicans but if you don't speak Spanish then it is very hard to function in a normal daily capacity. If only I could move to Oregon or Washington...even North Dakota things could be so much better!

I live in rural Oregon. In the 1960s I went to high school at Crane Union High School, which is in the Harny Desert, just a few miles from where Bundy & Co. are holed up. Things were different back then. At the time, Crane High School was one of the only public boarding schools in the country. The outlying ranches were so far away that parents would drop the kids off Monday morning and pick them up Friday afternoon. My roommate openly kept a loaded 30-30 Winchester in the room, and I don't recall anyone having an issue with it. Of course nobody messed with him because he was a little bit off and just crazy enough to use it.
Most people in my town are armed. Thugs would not do well here. The main industries are logging and commercial fishing. Lumberjacks and commercial fishermen are some of the toughest people I've ever met. An encounter between a dindonuffin from the city and one of the local boys would go something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s3UogfAGg0
+10 for "dindonuffin"............
real white men who arent raised by PC corporate drone faggots dont take kindly to niggers and their bullshit
I grew up in Oregon and it was nice until it was invaded by escaping Californians.
I then moved to North Carolina in 1987 and it was nice up until the last 10 years when it went downhill before things turned around the last 2 years with a change of government in the state house. But already too late for me since I moved to the Smoky Mountains of TN in 2014. It's nice but I've already got one foot out of the USA where I spend winters but probably will go ahead and seek permanent residency and become a full time expat because it's so much more care free.
Be flexible and leave your options open.
Liberal cesspools...
If you're a Liberal leaving these States and you don't know why you're going to these Top States...don't bring your Fucking Voting Habits with you!
Beam me up!
I live in rural AZ close to the Mexico border. AZ is medium inbound and most all to Phoenix. I get dental care in Mexico for 1/2 price of the US side and they are excellent. About equal Republican and independents with a strong libertarian atttitude. The legislature is most all Republican and right wing. They hate DC and love guns. Burglary is a very dangerous occupation in AZ. No concealed carry permit required; anyone over 18 can pack and the courts generally side with the armed citizen if you're sane. You can carry into a bar or bank. Will probably legalize weed in 2016. Phx is loaded with Mexicans but they are not unpleasant people overall. I lived there for 20 years and had no problems. No great antagonism against whitey except with the well educated hispanics who feel they deserve that affirmative action nonsense. If I hear the phrase "wise latina" one more time I'll go bonkers. Rural areas are 95% good-old-boys. Good jobs are hard to find outside Phx but I suspect that's the case near everywhere as America rapidly declines. You don't hear it in the news but Border Patrol is capturing an increasing number of middle east types. Caught a few a month ago around a gas pipeline with tampering tools. Heard that from the wife of an off-the-grid military guy who lives in that area. Sales tax is high at +9%. Property taxes probably average. Income tax fairly low.
Thank God! Nobody is coming to New Hampshire... Thank God! Thank God! Thank God!
Its COLD up here! Snow! Snow! Snow! up to your assholes and Cold as a witches tit 7 months out of the year.
Stay Away! Its a real bitch here man! A toy here is called a snow shovel and the freakin wind blows thru you like a thousand frozen razor blades.
Right now I have the woodstove, the pellet stove and the oil furnace all running full blast just to keep it above 50 in the house.
And in the summer! holy shit! the bugs man. Ticks! OMG! They're all over you like chocolate jimmies on an icecream cone.
My advice! Freakin Vermont Man! Absolutely beautiful and not a bug or a snow flake to be seen.
VERMONT! or VIRGINIA! or MAINE. Its all Good over there. It sucks here! Real bad.
