Caught On Tape: Iran Conducts Live-Fire Rocket Drill Next To US Carrier

Tyler Durden's picture

Late last month, amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, Iran conducted a live-fire exercise in the Strait of Hormuz in close proximity to the USS Harry Truman, one of Ash Carter’s fleet of aircraft carriers.

The US called the incident a “provocation” as the rockets landed a mere 1,500 yards from two US ships.

"Firing weapons so close to passing coalition ships and commercial traffic within an internationally recognized maritime traffic lane is unsafe, unprofessional, and inconsistent with international maritime law," US CentCom said, in a statement.

The brazen move infuriated US lawmakers opposed to the Iran nuclear accord. John McCain for instance, accused The White House of “turning a blind eye to Iranian saber rattling for fear Iran will walk away from the nuclear deal.”

The maritime mishap came amid (loud) calls for fresh sanctions against Tehran in connection with Iran’s test of a next gen surface-to-surface ballistic missile (the Emad).

On Saturday, the US released footage of the Iranian rocket drill in a conveniently-timed move that coincides with a historic spat between Tehran and Washington’s allies in Riyadh. The video is below.

Russia is packing a serious load of 'books' into its 'backpack.

It will make no threats, give no warning, just come out fighting. Russia has clearly marked its redlines. The AngloZionists show no sign of giving up, so it surrender or go all in.

I agree. The Green Revolution was a good start for Iran, unfortunately the people were arrested, crushed and even shot dead by government thug snipers.

But you're right, the Iranian people will rise up and take back what is rightfully theirs!

Each of us, I think, can look back to his own George McFly Moment.

Iran will make as good a George McFly as the next guy, and better than most.

Having the lovely John McCain play Biff would be a bonus.

it's all ok; remember, hussein n kerry negotiated that nifty new 'agreement'

btw, not that it matters, but my understanding is iRan never even signed the "thing" (nor any of the er uh 'side agreements')

that agreement can be summed up as the US paying Iran $50 billion (thanks tax slaves!) to agree that an agreement was made

So is droning innocents over countries you are not at war with or bombing Doctors Without Border's hospitals.

US Centcom, clean up your act, you sound hypocritical.

Just talking straight: When push comes to shove, Iran will get its ass kicked in a fight with the US.

Remember that when the next president gets in office. There is no way he or she could be as much of a pussy as Obama.

"Just talking straight: When push comes to shove, Iran will get its ass kicked in a fight with the US."

Yes, that's right. The US only ever picks on countries that can't fight back. I think we're all aware of that by now. However, this time, don't count on the Russians not helping out their Iranian 'Partners' with fabulous gifts of Sukoi, Mig and S-400's. Though not likely balancing the odds in Irans favour, the US would still need to ramp up body bag production.

Well, there's no question that the USA could flatten a lot of Iran, and largely shut down its hydrocarbon exports; but the US and its "coalition" minions have zero wherewithal to actually invade the place.

So, it looks like it's going to be a game of.... chicken.  The Big Question, as we all know, is what does Russia do?

Because Roshan (the bright one) gets all skyed up on too much awful mens cologne -- and accidentaly shoots at an American aircraft carrier with his roman candle mounted on a glorified canoe...

Iran is now shooting at a US aircraft carrrier after the Obama administration turns a blind eye to prior provocations. A US aircraft carrier. Nothing to shoot at unless you want it to shoot back.  Only desperate regimes act this way.  I have no clue why, but such regimes can only push so far before they take it up the chute.

Jimmy Carter was about as much of a pussy as Obama but recall how the pendulum did swing the other way.  Trump seems a lot like Reagan.

You couldnt be more wrong,

When the US gos to war with Iran (and it will), Iran will emerge the victor.

You really need to educate yourself on the weapons and tactics and geography and financial strengths of Iran and its allies vs US and its allies.

Mark my words- this coming war will mark the end of US hegemony- and the strength of the US dollar.

There won't be a war. It will be over quick. Iran is endangering itself thinking the US won't act to protect its interests when the chips are down.

I'm not going to indulge any more juvenile fantasies.

S-300/400 will prevent air superiority over Iran.
Schkval will prevent naval superiority over Iran.
Hence- The coming war with Iran will be fought with boots on the ground.
Iran is mountainous and easier to defend than even Afghanistan is by its native population.
I dont care if you believe it or not- you will believe it soon enough when it happens.

of course there won't be a war.

the US won't fight a hot war with any country bigger than Granada or Panama.

eveyone larger than that gets sanctions.

does anybody know whether Iran advised the Truman Carrier Group that it would be holding live fire tests at a certain location and at a certain time?

and that it would be advisable for any fleets, flotillas and convoys headed near that location to tread water for a couple of hours till the tests were over.

The solution is the Iranian people. If you knew anything about Iranian youth culture, you'd know they would rather join the West than be constantly jacked around by the current regime.

The reason for NO war is because the Iranian youth will snatch their country back from the dipshits currently running it...

Earth to Howdy Doody -- come in Howdy Doody...

It has nothing to do with the US government. It has everything to do with the Iranian youth. You really think Iranian 19 -25 year old kids are happy their dimwitted leaders are provoking the US in to bombing them into the middle of next week? NO THEY ARE NOT! These kids want to come to America to go to school. They want to drive a BMW and use an iPhone and listen to One Direction (which BTW is punishable by death from their goon overlords)

Pay attention! The Iranian youth snatches their country back and decide to integrate with the US and Europe economically and culturally BECAUSE THATS WHAT THE IRANIAN YOUTH WANTS! In that scenario, the US has NO reason to have any animosity towards Iran -- AND THE IRANIAN PEOPLE.  Full stop.

You seem to forget, the US has millions of good and hard working Iranian citizens --  they tell the rest of the US what goes on inside Iran -- and the message is the youth wants the current dipshits running Iran O U T so they can get on with their lives.

Right. Years ago...

---

That lone human managed 13 unmanned surface vessels (USVs) at once — an unprecedented number — as they escorted a manned control ship through the James River of Virginia. They were simulating a Navy carrier or other “high value unit” transiting a dangerous strategic chokepoint like the Strait of Hormuz off Iran. When a “suspicious” craft approached, piloted by a human tester, the controller ordered the five smartest of the unmanned boats to stop it. (The other eight, less autonomous, kept escorting the mothership).

In effect, the sailor told the swarmboats, “sic ’em.”

And there things stopped, this time. Showing the swarming behavior worked was “the purpose of this demonstration,” Klunder said. “It was not to destroy the target. We certainly could have done that if it was needed.”
