Georgia Accuses Homeland Security Of Attempting To Hack State's Election Database

Tyler Durden's picture

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp is anxiously wondering, as are we, why someone with a Department Of Homeland Security IP address would try to hack into his State's voter registration database.  Even though DHS offered cyber security help to states prior to the election, the Wall Street Journal notes that Georgia was one of the states that specifically denied assistance.

The secretary of state of Georgia is asking the Department of Homeland Security to explain what appears to be an attempted breach of the state’s voter registration database by someone in the federal government.

In a letter to Department of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson dated Thursday, Georgia’s Secretary of State Brian Kemp said the state had discovered an unsuccessful attempt to breach the firewall of state computer systems. That attempt was linked to an IP address associated with DHS, he said.

“At no time has my office agreed to or permitted DHS to conduct penetration testing or security scans of our network,” wrote Mr. Kemp, a Republican. “Moreover, your department has not contacted my office since this unsuccessful incident to alert us of any security event that would require testing or scanning of our network.”

The alleged attempted intrusion by the federal government on a state computer system responsible for election security was detected by a third-party security firm working for the state of Georgia. The attempt was unsuccessful, according to the state. The computers also house information about company incorporations.

According to a letter written by Kemp to DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, the attempted intrusion occurred 1 week after the election on November 15, 2016 at 8:43AM and came from an IP address associated with DHS (216.81.81.80).

GA

Of course, since the hacking a state's election database it technically illegal, even for DHS, Kemp had some fairly pointed questions for Johnson on who authorized the scan and how many other states were scanned without authorization.

GA

Meanwhile, the potential hacking followed threats from Jeh Johnson leading up to election day to declare election systems "critical infrastructure" which would have given the federal government more authority over state databases.

The Department of Homeland Security made a major push in advance of November’s elections to help states secure election systems against possible hacking, as fears of foreign interference in the U.S. election process reached a fever pitch in the months leading up to Election Day.

The department also considered declaring election systems “critical infrastructure,” which would have given the federal government additional authority to protect the systems. DHS didn’t take that step, however, as many states expressed concern about additional federal authority over their election systems and said the constitution provided states the right to run their own elections.

As a result of some of the concerns, the department clarified that assistance on election-related security matters was voluntary and encouraged states to take advantage of DHS resources and expertise to help secure state election systems.

“DHS assistance is strictly voluntary and does not entail regulation, binding directives, and is not offered to supersede state and local control over the process,” Mr. Johnson, the DHS chief, said in September.

Georgia was one of the states that had declined the federal government’s assistance for election security, citing state sovereignty. “Right now, we’re just demanding answers,” said David Dove, a top aide to the Georgia secretary of state. “My boss, Secretary Kemp, has been a very vocal critic of the Department of Homeland Security declaring election systems critical infrastructure.”

After all the talk about Russian hackers, wouldn't it be just perfect if it turns out that the Obama administration was the only group to actually attempt to illegally hack into a state election database?  That said, we won't hold our breath waiting for Jill Stein and disaffected Hillary supporters to express their outrage over this incident.

In RL, they want to go to their $80+k per year job (that, within less than 6 degrees of separation, is a government contracting job in one form or another)... They want to live a normal COGNITIVE DISSONANT LIFE, cash their check, trust it all:

To challenge any of that in REAL LIFE puts you 2 paychecks away from Skid Row (not to mention that you'll never, EVER, get anymore pussy as long as you live).

On ZH... It puts you on your 27th username (& whereby your only challenge left in life is to use the marbles you have left in your skull to think up clever new usernames, and stuff your behind with used newspaper for the abuse you're gonna take in the next round)...

Conspiracy time...Quite possibly this is the false flag that will spark the DHS to deny it did it, then gets the DNS/FBI investigating. Pin it on the Russian hackers doing this and finding they breached several state election databases. This could lead to senate allowing the electoral college to choose the president.

Because you have to be too stupid to question your orders. This leads to problems when these half wits go the extra mile.

This is absurd!

Brian Kemp sent out the database to numerous media outslets, political parties and God knows who else about 2 years ago.

DHS wasn't in when Kemp released personal data, including social security numbers for 6 million Georgia voters.

Look it up. Brian Kemp is a goat, not a hero!!!

Both political parties love the unconstitutional DHS. There won't be an investigation, because the Republicans don't want to see the DHS shutdown either. They're just outraged that the DHS was messing with their interests and not spying on the general public (blatantly disregarding the 4th amendment).

You seem to be under the impression we live in a Constitutional Republic. It's a Lawless Criminal Fraud Entity aka UNITED STATES, CORP. INC. of which you CONSENT to.

The "government" has not been legitimate since Lincoln's War. When the southern States' contingent walked out of congress and congress adjourned "sine die" (without a day), congress officially dissolved. They never had a lawful quorum so never lawfully reconvened.

It was Lincoln ruling by decree back then which is the basis for all actions since. He ordered congress to do certain things under martial law (military rule). He even had the governor of New York arrested for opposing certain decrees.

We have had a corporation ACTING as government since 21 Feb 1871.
See:
28 U.S.C. 3002 (15)
(15)“United States” means—
(A) a Federal corporation;
(B) an agency, department, commission, board, or other entity of the United States; or
(C) an instrumentality of the United States.

So... B and C are subdivisions of the "Federal corporation." For further verification go to Dunn & Bradstreet (dnb.com) or manta.com. You will find that ALL government entities are listed as private corporations right down to your local police department and school district.

The "law" isn't what you think it is. It's all corporate regulations. Congress and legislatures are acting as the board of directors for the corporations and most don't have any idea. You are simply seen as a corporate asset (human resource) with an asset tag # (SS#) that is not allowed to tell your owner what to do.

The questions you should be asking are, "Who owns it?" "Who are they really working for whether they know it or not?" "What are the requirements to be a CEO of a corporation?"
Hint: You don't have to be a Citizen of any specific country to head up a corporation.

These Criminal Psychopaths / Sociopaths are just minions gaming a Criminal FRUAD system all based on Contract Fraud through our CONSENT (Blacks Law Dictionary) & deception.

From Lincoln, to the Act of 1871, Fed Reserve Act of 1913, to The Emergency Banking Act of 1933. No doubt, thse Megalomaniac's have taken historical FACT, twisted it, kept it from public knowledge to use as leverage in their diabolical plan to Enslave / Control mankind. And, the entire planet.

The purported 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution is and should be held to be ineffective, invalid, null, void and unconstitutional for the following reasons:

The Joint Resolution proposing said amendment was not submitted to or adopted by a Constitutional Congress per Article I, Section 3, and Article V of the U. S. Constitution.

The Joint Resolution was not submitted to the President for his approval as required by Article I, Section 7 of the U. S. Constitution.

The proposed 14th Amendment was rejected by more than one-fourth of all the States then in the Union, and it was never ratified by three-fourths of all the States in the Union as required by Article V of the U. S. Constitution.

They also ratified the 14th amendment after the southern states were not allowed to rejoin congress. Thus the 14th was never ratified by 3/4's of the states.

tarabel's picture

So let's start with Lincoln arresting the governor of New York. Show me your source for that or admit that you are totally wrong.

Next, a quorum in the House and Senate requires a majority of members (50% + 1) present in order to transact business.

Let's start with the Senate first....

1) Including newly-admitted Kansas, there were 34 states at the start of the Civil War. Which means 68 Senators. Want to guess how many Senators left with the 11 Confederate states? Did I hear you mumble 22? Well, YOU'D BE WRONG. Senator Andrew Johnson of Tennessee stayed, so only 21 left. I'll bet money you did not know that. So, subtracting 21 from 68 leaves us 47-- well in excess of the necessary quorum of 35.

2) No need to examine the House, except to observe that the Union states had an excess in population over and above their strict numerical advantage in quantity of state delegations. Suffice it to say that they had even less of a problem finding a quorum.

3) Following the CONFEDERATE INVASION of United States territory in the form of Fort Pickens (Florida) and later Fort Sumter (South Carolina), the Confederate States of America passed an immediate and unconditional declaration of war against the United States. Just like the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor first and then declared war, so too did the brainless government in Montgomery.

4) Upon receiving news of the Confederate invasion and declaration of war, President Lincoln issued a proclamation calling the loyal people of the Union to arms and giving the madmen of the South, who had decided to attack a country with a good 500% of their own military capacity, an opportunity to peaceably retire to their homes without fear of retribution. The proclamation also summoned the out-of-session Congress to convene in emergency session on July 4,1861-- as was the right and constitutional duty of the President to perform.

So, summing up, Lincoln did not arrest the governor of New York, and the House and Senate met in proper constitutional fashion and with proper constitutional quorums in all cases whatsoever.

As for your claims on the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendment ratification processes, each southern state was compelled to ratify as a condition of their return to the Union. I have read one very interesting argument that either the 13th OR the 14th Amendment has to be improperly ratified from a strict legal standpoint.

I believe it was Mississippi or Alabama which ratified the 13th but refused to ratify the 14th. Whereupon the newly-organized state government was simply declared to be bogus and a new set of rascals scraped up who promptly ratified the 14th. So the argument goes that, if the original government was bogus, so too was their ratification of the 13th. Whereas, if they were not bogus but had been improperly usurped, then their refusal to ratify the 14th should stand. It's a very interesting case, and one that the Supreme Court has steadfastly refused to entertain. I have also read the defective paperwork claims centering around the Kentucky ratification, among others, but it is really a dead letter at this point.

Like it or not, if these three amendments were simply resubmitted today, there is no doubt that they would all be swiftly ratified. I think even you would reluctantly admit this to be the case. Again, like it or not.

What I'm really saying is that I understand where you are coming from but you need to be careful that these misleading arguments do not get you into serious legal jeopardy. I think the time is fast approaching when your country and your family are really going to need you. If you are in jail or out on parole, you will not be of much use. Save your powder for the fights that count.

May God run with you and yours.

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES:

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS the laws of the United States have been, for some time past, and now are opposed, and the execution thereof obstructed, in the States of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, by combinations too powerful to be suppressed by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, or by the powers vested in the marshals by law.

Now, therefore, I, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, President of the United States, in virtue of the power in me vested by the Constitution and the laws, have thought fit to call forth, and hereby do call forth, the militia of the several States of the Union, to the aggregate number of seventy-five thousand, in order to suppress said combinations, and to cause the laws to be duly executed.

The details for this object will be immediately communicated to the State authorities through the War Department.

I appeal to all loyal citizens to favor, facilitate, and aid this effort to maintain the honor, the integrity, and the existence of our National Union, and the perpetuity of popular government; and to redress wrongs already long enough endured. I deem it proper to say that the first service assigned to the forces hereby called forth will probably be to repossess the forts, places, and property which have been seized from the Union; and in every event, the utmost care will be observed, consistently with the objects aforesaid, to avoid any devastation, any destruction of, or interference with, property, or any disturbance of peaceful citizens in any part of the country.

And I hereby command the persons composing the combinations aforesaid to disperse, and retire peaceably to their respective abodes within twenty days from this date.

Deeming that the present condition of public affairs presents an extraordinary occasion, I do hereby, in virtue of the power in me vested by the Constitution, convene both Houses of Congress. Senators and Representatives are therefore summoned to assemble at their respective chambers, at twelve o'clock, noon, on Thursday the fourth day of July next, then and there to consider and determine such measures as, in their wisdom, the public safety and interest may seem to demand.

Secretary of State WILLIAM H. SEWARD

Gohmert on House Passage of Bill to Track Those with Disabilities

Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) released the following statement on his decision to vote against H.R. 4919, Kevin and Avonte's Law, which establishes a federal program to chip individuals with autism and developmental disabilities:

“While this initiative may have noble intentions, ‘small and temporary’ programs in the name of safety and security often evolve into permanent and enlarged bureaucracies that infringe on the American people’s freedoms. That is exactly what we have here. A safety problem exists for people with Alzheimer’s, autism and other mental health issues, so the fix, we are told, is to have the Department of JUSTICE, start a tracking program so we can use some device or method to track these individuals 24/7.”
