Good thing they have all those Highly Skilled Muslim Immigrants, or this might pose a problem.

Does anyone else find it suspicious Comey got smoked yesterday and now this cyber attack using proprietary hijinks? I can just see him in some upscale strip club, surrounded by young professionals working their way thru med school. Blabbing about how he'll show those fuckers. He's probably been there since last night. I hope they took his piece when he turned in his g man badge.

I think Comey is way too much a wuss for something like that. But what is interesting is that Trump gets into hot water (Comey-gate) and the news cycle is all over it then it seems something else big happens to distract attention away from it. It happened during the campaign too - like Trump would say something stupid and he'd be getting pounded by the fake news then Hillary would have a Grand Mal seizure or something.

Get rid of Bitcoin and the financial incentive vanishes.
Hey, you think banning Bitcoin was the plan? Hmmm ...

DING DING DING! We have a winner. This attack also is hitting from what I have read Russia really hard. So, this attack kills at least two birds with one stone, Bitcion being the monetary medium of payment in which the banks hate, and poking the bear. Ooooo, my popcorn in ready.

Less than a thousand Russian government desktops were affected - the Russian government moved off Windows OS some years ago, when sanctions were imposed, onto their own Windowless/Intel-less platform to protect themselves from Western corporate extortion.  Looks like it was a good thing they did.

What could possibly go wrong? Bureaucrats, Eurocrats and NSA spooks run amok.

Dust off the analog systems , might be a comeback in our future. ESP if planes start falling from the skies

Like the Russian military choir plane that fell like a rock into the Black Sea?

Pilots were able to inform everything stopped working and froze.

And there was a ship capable of doing just that close by.

Humongous restraint. Kudos.

I'm surprised so many people hadn't figured out that using Windows for mission critical systems is a bad idea. Or perhaps I shouldn't be.

"our new windows based system" scares me almost as much as "new government database" And where I work, I see a lot of both.

Putin did it, we know he did it because that's what russians do.

If a bunch of mid grade hackers can do this to a large scale transportation system, just think of what top notch professionals could do in real state level cyber war.

95% of this blame rests on the NSA and the US Government. Many people have been screaming for 10 years this would happen, now here you go. The TAO team and leadership at NSA should be held personally liable for all the damages, as well as the DNI and anyone else involved.
