White House Says Trump's "Calm Before The Storm" Comment Is "Extremely Serious"

Tyler Durden's picture

Following President Trump's "calm before the storm" comments last night, reporters tried to ask him once again what he meant today, to which he responded "you'll see." However, during The White House Press Briefing, Sarah Sanders replied to questions suggesting the President's comments were "extremely serious," however without offering an explanation.

When asked if Trump was referring to military action when he said "calm before the storm." Sarah Sanders replied "We're never going to say in advance what the president's going to do. You'll have to wait and see."

Then, in a follow up question "how seriously should America's public or America's adversaries take these comments", the White House press secretary said "I think you can take the president protecting the American people always extremely seriously. He's been very clear that that's his number one priority."

Earlier in the day, Trump continued the cryptic mystery: shortly after signing a manufacturing executive order, a reporter asked what he meant when he said that a gathering of military leaders at the White House the evening before was "the calm before the storm," U.S. President Donald Trump did not elaborate, and said again, "You'll find out."

And then he winked.

Are you blind to all this God damned confusion ?

Excessively emotional, hyper-anxious, overly self consious, virtue signaling, needy, ignorant..

This likes like national puberty.

Anything can happen here.

Pity the lot are completely emotionally unprepared to deal with themselves or their situation...

...Yeah, I think you know what's coming.

The Prom might be over; but, the evening isn't, yet.

Terminal madness of the end times I think is the exact prognosis

"...just going to have to wait and see."

Certainly sounds pending...

We'd be a lot better off if either of them ACTUALLY had done so instead of just faking at it and getting a bunch of our young men killed.

If it wasn't Friday gold would plunge and the dollar soar on this news. After all, we are living in the matrix, a fabricated society with its fiat currency.

"Walk softly and make a bunch of vague threats." It's an old Iroquois axiom.

TheLastTrump's picture

Right. Trump wasn't president yet when he told us all (some listened) that he would not alert the enemy ahead of time.

ByTheCross's picture

There is no enemy, so no, he cannot alert an enemy if one doesn't exist.

However, he can alert those who should be alerted.

On a Defcon scale of seriousness are we talking a 1 or a 5? 1 being super cereal.

Akzed's picture

"Plan R?"

"That's what it says."

Dirtnapper's picture

DefCon4 (aka Double Take) is probably about right.  Considering it took 911 to get us down to DefCon3 (aka Round House), I doubt Trump will anything without Congressional approval that will require for US forces to drop it to DefCon3 let alone DefCon2 (aka Fast Pace) which is where most will start to stain their undies.

Who needs Hollywood?

We are living in a real-life action movie these days.

Doom Porn Star's picture

The plot sucks.

The leads suck.  Heroes not heroic, villains not villainous.   Where is the sexy/subplot??

The support sucks.   The comedy isn't relieving.

The CGI really sucks.

Disbelief not suspended.

Rating: NO Fucks were given.

Stick with it. Gets good in the second half when Donald battles Pence for the soul of the nation.

Trump's behavior, in this case and many others, is flat-out irresponsible for a president.

TheLastTrump's picture

Trump is rewriting the rules and fixing things that presidents all the way back to 1953 couldn't seem to get fixed.

What's irresponsible is the lying bloodstained media including paid DNC shills attacking this president & making America appear weak or fragmented for personal & political gain.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is enemy activity against the people & govt of these United States.

ToSoft4Truth's picture

Hopeful that Trump and his Jewish family stay safe.  You'll have to be the collateral damage.

Brazen Heist's picture

What the fuck is this Deep State puppet going to "fix" exactly?

tripletail's picture

Trump has fixed nothing, IMHO. He's only removed the US from the TPP and Climate treaties. All other promises remain unfulfilled.

Changing the rules? I see no evidence of that occurring. Of course, there is nepotism in the WH. And we have more generals in the WH. Yet I suspect we have the usual number of Wall Streeters in the WH. Would you disagree?

And blaming the DNC and/or media is foolhardy in this day-n-age. Both parties have been the same party for decades. And the media outlets, owned by multinationals, indirectly work for the deep state. You might want to check out the CIA project Mockingbird for how it all started.

I suspect you were just ranting --- and that's fine. I do it myself once and awhile. Cheers.

Chaos_Theory's picture

I'd take your critique much more seriously if you would have shown more concern for Obama literally turning what should be non-partisan government departments (IRS, DOJ, IC) against his political "enemies."

tripletail's picture

Those departments you speak of are hardcore members of the deep state. And have nothing to do with the former moronic occupant of the white house. Yes, indeed, the chosen one used said agencies against his enemies. But, then, were those enemies not the enemies of the deep state?

Like millions, I voted for Trump simply to avoid a straight walk into WW3. Moreover, as a human, I harbored some hope that Trump might actually fulfill his promises. To date, he's fulfilled 2 promises that I know of --- an exit from the TPP and Climate treaties. Everything else has been a huge disappointment. Kindly correct me if I'm missing another promise delivered.

Chaos_Theory's picture

You mistake me for a T-team member.  I merely point out that I distrust one side of the argument for a failure to hold their own side accountable.  As you say, it is also a valid question to ask the other side. I would add one benefit (not necessarily a "promise") of Trump...the true intentions of the hard left have been on full display for almost a year now, with the mainstream only able to partially block the view.

FWIW, my side is whichever doesn't treat me like a criminal for simply believing the defense of my family is ultimately my responsibility, and choosing to own firearms to do it.  Unfortunately that has forced me to pick a side between Hitler and Stalin.  Either way, I think we lose, but at least I can go down with more than a broomstick in my hand.

Edits:  Forgot some points.  First, I do think the man far too often adds fuel to his critics that say he lacks maturity/is crazy egotistical/pure ID with no adult filter.  The recent South Park episode where the President's tweets go off the deep end was hilarious because it was in the realm of "yea, I could see him doing that."  Still, I also am livid at the clear, unadulterated attempt at a soft coup by the Dems, the press, never-Trump Rs, deep staters, self-important "civil servants" who actually despise more than half the country and are so blind to believe they're Patriots for doing what they're doing.  Against that gallery of rogues, I can understand Trump's frustration and use of social media to lash out.

tripletail's picture

Frankly, I don't understand what you're saying. You will have to dramtically simplify your statements for me to understand. My apologies in advance.

Chaos_Theory's picture

Both (political) sides full of shit/lie/say one thing to get elected and then piss on the peasants

which makes me only focus on 2nd Amendment (violence by the left amplifies need/expected outcomes) for my vote/concern

Trump does seem to react like a child too much

but the multitude of his enemies (and their attemtp to overthrow an election they didn't like) are worse

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

I wouldn't label this irresponsible. The man is bombastic at times and reactive verbally without reflection but in many occasions this can be advantageous. Ok, maybe not the statesman like qualities you may desire in a president but he exudes confidence in contrast to obama's waffling weakness.

There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance.

07564111's picture

how confident are you of surviving another world war ?

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

Considering I wasn't around for either of the first two I cannot speculate.

I think it a waste to gnash ones teeth and fret over issues one cannot change. I have faced death several times and the fear that has accompanied it. I've made peace with Death. However, if the horrors of a nuclear bomb does occur in Cali ( a sick justice I must admit) I would rather catch it than die the slow lingering death that would befall those farther away. I'm not sure if I can have the necessary courage to deal with so much pain.

This world is not fair or just. It never will be. Read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis which is a complication of his radio address to the public during the Blitz. They were dealing with these same issues but with the joyful addition of up to 400 planes bombing them nightly. I'm not sure if the snowflakes today would have the belly for that.

I was in west London getting bombed in the blitz. One thing I can pass on to the white house - we did not love Germans. Hating Germans was a way of life.

This is what you are setting up all over the middle east.

tripletail's picture

I most certainly understand and agree with most of what you write. Yet I don't understand your but in many occasions this can be advantageous statement. Since none of us know what Trump is talking about, perhaps, you can state at least 1 advantage. Thanks in advance.

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

You obviously are not a mother of strong willed children or play a lot of poker.

Miffed;-)

tripletail's picture

True, I'm not a mother.:) I'm a father of 1 strong-willed son, who I home schooled. He graduated recently at the age of 15. And his current focus is on Electrician fundamentals, electrical theory and Calculus ( we sort of ran out of time for that one ). He's also learning how to drive a car. Sounds as though we have a lot in common.:) Cheers!

And, yes, I don't play poker. Nor do I play gambling games. I just hate losing money. And I always lose when I roll the dice.;)

Miffed Microbiologist's picture

Well you went down the path we should have followed. we went the Lutheran School route. Our daughters got a fabulous education yet we spent $200k for it. Working 4 jobs we pulled it off without going into debt but it was hell. We had no money for college so they had to pay for that. My eldest has paid off her loans in 3 years and has a great job. Youngest is paying for her education and is struggling. We will cosign no loans because we can't risk it financially. They understand.

I'm the tough one in the family while my husband is more easy going and laid back. However I had to defer to him on the drivers education. I was going to have a coronary doing that! You have my sympathies and I admire your courage! I ran out of my favorite Scotch the first week I tried it. I knew my liver wasn't going to survive two children learning to drive.

Nice to meet you Mr Tripletail

Miffed;-)

tripletail's picture

Congrats to you, your better half and family on hanging tuff! I hear you on the driving lessons. On my end, it's my wife who must give them. She's the better man in this case. Too funny, right?:) Cheers!

I think he means, if Trump convinces the world he is an unstable, immature and irreponsible moron ,others might be cautious in their dealings, as such a person might destroy life on earth to boost his self esteem.

tripletail's picture

If I understand your analysis, which is - why fuck with a crazy guy like Trump, right? Why indeed, given he's backed by the deep state, right?
