Apple Decouples From Stock Market Gravity

Tyler Durden's picture

For the first time since the end of January (and for only the 4th day this year) AAPL is trading higher with the S&P trading down... the S&P has surged after each previous event, will it this time or has it lost its QE mojo?

AAPL... the stock of proud slave owners!

zanza's picture

I'm a slave owner, and when I buy stocks, I prefer AAPL stock.

it's hard for under-achieving retards to deal with perfection in corporate technological cool, especially in socialised monopolised America

but as the Bible so wisely says, take not the splinter out your Brothers eye but the wank(er) with his head up his arse

You can't burn gold to keep warm in winter... but you can burn fiat money... Fiat money wins!

Apple is a New Paradigm.

This time it'll be different.

Chip's picture

Already HAS been different, guy.

Indrid Cold's picture

Yes, but will it continue being different (avoiding a big tumble) tomorrow, next week, and next year, after I jump in the pool?

All normal though.  Indicates nothing.

Might have simply been waiting for a ZH headline like this before it started selling.  Look again.

And then a comment like mine to stop the drop.

Has Jim Rickards taken over Zereo Hedge or what?  Tyler, were you expecting Bernanke to ever announce QE 3?  Is ZIRP+OT2+$1T of FX swaps+PPT not good enough?

I understand MS et al banging the drums that there is no current QE, and that CNBC et al will run headlines like "Hopes of Stimulus Fizzle", but here too?

I'm really hoping silver drops into the 20s...want more.

Mr Lennon Hendrix's picture

There are a lot of puts on $25, but I'll start buying bullion if we get back below $30.

WonderDawg's picture

I should have warned you guys gold was gonna tank. I bought a shiny coin last week, thus guaranteeing they would go on sale this week.

Mr Lennon Hendrix's picture

I told people not to buy yesterday and I got the shit junked out of me.

Zero Govt's picture

WonderDawg  -  not good enough

I bought six figures of Gold and Silver today and the price tanked within minutes

even 'better' I'd shorted Silver at $30.50 a short while ago and within minutes it took off like a scalded cat

when you're as crap as me at timing ineptness can sometimes reach an equilibrium (i hope!) where your shorts cancel your longs

i think it's called hedging or covering but in truth it's because you haven't got a friggin clue

What sense does holding a $500 stock make at all? Hoping to gain $5 or $10? This kind of crap never made any sense at all to me.

As far as whether the full retard equities follow Apple up next, I doubt it myself. QE is off and Bernank is reverse repo'ing? It may take the hockey helmeted equity markets a bit of time for reality to sink in, but I suspect 'BTFD markets cant go down' BS is over and we're headed into a new phase. Bull money must be looking very delicious right now, all fatted up and calmly chewing their cudd, to the cash starved central banking machine.

Indrid Cold's picture

Lots of money (and many investors) chasing too few quality equities.  AAPL is perceived to be unstoppable... so when the perception is pierced, what happens to AAPL?

CvlDobd's picture

Come on don't totally swallow the ZH hook, line, and sinker.

It was up $7 today! It keeps proving the "it can't go higher" crowd wrong for the past $300. And how are you going to bash a $500 no div. stock and love a $1700 no div. commodity at the same time?

I agree with the premise to own gold and that apple is a bubble but that doesn't mean the "market " will play along.

Indrid Cold's picture

Who's saying it can't go higher?  The only question is, is tomorrow the day when there are no bigger fools available to buy AAPL?

asteroids's picture

You'll wake up some morning and APPL will be down $50 or more. And "poof... it's gone". The smart money left the building weeks ago leaving retail to hold the bag.

BaggerDon's picture

We have seen it all before,,,,,,,,,,,JDSU, fiberoptics all over the world,,,,,,,,,,WorldCom, new style phone company......SunMicro, serveres all over the world for the internet....CMGI, internet juggernaut, unstoppable.................and today,,,,,,,,,APPL, UNSTOPPABLE - sure...

Just bought an iPhone. I'd like to thank Foxconn for their sacrifice.

Prediction: Apple drops for the same reasons it dropped in the 90s: being too greedy to outsource its software. Gates already proved quantity wins over quality -- why would that change now?

Fellas, listen to me this is it. It's time for Aapl to mark it's 52 week high and money will move from it to JPMorgan for the rest of the year. Sit back and relax.
