Fourth Largest Gun Maker In US Is Out Of Guns
In a somewhat sad and shocking slap of reality to the face of our 'recovery' and 'freedom-based-debt-holdings', today's press-release-of-the-day (since we still haven't heard from BATS) goes to Sturm, Ruger (the 4th largest gun-maker in the US) who after receiving orders for over one million units in Q1 has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new orders.
Forget PCLN, CRM, NFLX, here's where the real action is!
RGR is up a whopping 571% from Nov 07 while the S&P 500 is down 3%...
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. Reports Strong First Quarter Bookings
March 21, 2012
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR), announced today that for the first quarter 2012, the Company has received orders for more than one million units. Therefore, the Company has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new orders.
Chief Executive Officer Michael O. Fifer made the following comments:
The Company's Retailer Programs that were offered from January 1, 2012 through February 29, 2012 were very successful and generated significant orders from retailers to independent wholesale distributors for Ruger firearms.
Year-to-date, the independent wholesale distributors placed orders with the Company for more than one million Ruger firearms.
Despite the Company's continuing successful efforts to increase production rates, the incoming order rate exceeds our capacity to rapidly fulfill these orders. Consequently, the Company has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new orders.
The Company expects to resume the normal acceptance of orders by the end of May 2012.
The Company will announce its results and file its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the first quarter of 2012 on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, after the close of the stock market.

way back in 79 I had a friend, and his father had a holster hanging on the side of the toilet water tank, .357 magnum in the holster. His father said quote " I will never get caught with my pants down" I talked to my friend a couple weeks ago, hundereds of guns and hundereds of thousands of rounds. Do not try to break into that house!!!
Holster on the side of the toilet water tank? Sounds like he anticipated the Toilet Safety Authority (recent South Park episode for those who don't watch it).
If your plunger is torn....a 357 would break up the log jam !
If your plunger is torn....a 357 would break up the log jam ! Monedas 2012 Bathroom humour and a whole lot more !
Bait for the suckers. RGR bolted up 7% in after hours trading a few days ago. Smith & Wesson (SWHC) went up at the same time. The timing of this "news" sure smells like time to sell.
That said, it seems like a sign of the times, except I found this related milli-cent stock that is not doing well at all: Stinger Systems, maker of the sensational Taser.
Have fun in Manhattan. By the way, how many escape tunnels are there?
My question, how many were purchased by homeland security?
I can tell by the naure of your question that you are phucked. best of luck to you and yours.
lol, that's helluvaAssumption. Same back.
Well, this indicates a lot of folks are worried that our current fearless leader is going to get re-elected, and this time he and that minion of his, Holder, along with some new SC appointees are going to crack down on gun ownership.
The SC can pass anything they want. It does not void the Bill of Rights.
If you read the founding documents and comments by their authors, Americans have a duty to rid themselves of a corrupt government.
Gubbermint buying uo 450 million rounds of 40 calibre - wtf?
https://fellowshipofminds.wordpress.com/2012/03/18/why-did-the-dhs-just-...
Instability coming? Iran?
450 million rounds. 300 million residents in USA. Hmmmmm....
It's an ID/IQ contract. A pricing exercise. They have the option to buy 450 million rounds over 5 years, but in practice Federal ID/IQ contracts in ammunition are rarely fulfilled.
To help protect we citizens in the upcoming Iranian invasion!
Its only pistol ammo, no big deal there. Not much they can do with that in terms of combating social instability, anyone depending on that would get eaten alive by a better armed populace.
5 gubbermint types with .40's vs. 1 good ol' boy with a .30-06 = they are screwed.
Unless they flash-bang you and have HK MP40s....
No, a false flag attack right here on our soil that we will blame Iran for, or foster sympathy for Obama. There are states moving to ban him from their ballots for the upcomming election, a state of emergency will hold his seat and he goes no where. Dictator in Chief.
Congress just began Impeachment hearing Bill to neturalize him from doing anymore damage to our Republic.
Obama didn't sign the "America to be considered a Battlefeild" Bills and EO's seizing all infrastructure to Federal agancies for no reason. 1 acronym, COG. Continuity of Government. That's our best research.
Oor, a civil war breaking out in the streets of Florida that locks down American rights = Domestic Emergency. It's baked in the cake becuase we have to shut Iran down by hook or by *Crook. Pun intended..

Dear neighbours.
Do you really think those guns will save you?
You gringos are a funny bunch, always shit scared, always bragging about your guns.
Yet your country is becoming one of the most controlled and repressive on the western hemisphere, UK of course way ahead, democracy and freedom having it's price, special relationship and all that.
I live south of the border, it's scary and a bunch of guns would not make any difference, law and order would and you can not get that with guns.
Do your best and try to get some sanity in your representatives in Washington and you will do us all a huge favour.
Your ridiculous handguns are no fucking good for anything.
Thank you & brgds
There's only one thing wrong with Mexico: Mexicans.
Well, thats why you live in a narco state even more screwed up then what we have. I agree that handguns arent worth much, which is why most of the US outside the big cities have AR's, AK's, and scoped hunting rifles that will blow through body armor plus a stack of ammo.
The population here has weaponry just as good or better as law enforcement or the cartel types that own your country.
If all the innocent people who ended up with their heads sawn off lying in ditches in Mexico had even a cheap pistol on themselves, there would at LEAST be an equal number of short lived, sucking chest wound victims who aren't innocent, NOT around to saw more peoples heads off. The math of gun ownership changes when confronted with tyranny or anarchy, when that comes, the objective of GOOD people is to sell their lives expensively so that when all is said and done there aren't any BAD people left.
Really? How?
But maybe I can have this right, based on US citizenism.
It is the sort of survival framework US citizens are so fond of.
Anyone who survives the game is a good guy. Anyone who dies through the game is a bad guy.
Forget about issuing what is good/bad guy before playing the game cause the results wont fit.

Ah, made me laugh. The US People lecturing its chinese copy cats.
Best part, crustiest bit: the question is not whether freedom should only be reserved to the Indians.
US citizens answered that question a long time ago in an irreversible manner.
The topical question is: should the Indians be the only ones to receive US citizen treatment?
Rhetorical question of course because as the US citizenism machine needs to be fed, well, and with the shortage of Indians,well...
.
Chinese citizenism is spreading in US of A so yes, it has consequences. This trend has spread all around the world, showing that Chinese citizenism is blobbing up. Tibetans have adopted it, performing an ethnical cleansing for humanitarian causes.
What is the Chinese citizenism obsession with poor achievers like Tibetans?
Wait for it, you are worth your last performance and Chinese tibetan performance dates back. Same with the rest...
Stay south of the border. Thank you.

Dear neighbours.
Q. "Do you really think those guns will save you?"
A. Uumm, YES! but not you.
Imagine if Greece was armed? they wouldn't have half the problems they have now. They would have gone in and forcibly removed their "elected" Govt. officials if they had a Constitution like we have, your allowed to, your ordered under that paper to do so.
Sorry for them they live in a Democracy.
Full circle for me seeing an article on Ruger on the home page. I started reading ZH about two years ago and while I missed GLD I bought a nice stash of this stock over that time.
Seriously thanks to those out there pointing me into the next 'bubble' before it happened. What is the next sector to go boom and run out of supply besides PM's?
I called horse shit on that release. RGR just hired a new IR consultant so who knows what they are up to. Any company who triples exec comp in 2011 and then forgets to build enough capacity to meet demand to me smells like teen spirit.
Problem is guns are the new golf and every momo trading cheese dick wants to be packin at their Bloomberg because they are bad ass and they think RGR is a viable option.
Sig Saur is about 10 miles from my house and they are flat out slammed. At least they have the balls to take on debt so they can expand ( RGR is proud to be debt free and is happy not taking new orders till the end of May)
SWHC has enough hicks and snaggle tooths in Springfield to ramp production and then some. Problem is they are less retail and more institutional.
So how does this play out? Can the government buy guns at a faster rate than the sheeple? or is the government not concerned about the RGR backlog since the stuff just jams?
Dr_Lucid,
Well said. I'm a Sig man myself. Best gun ever built so far, IMHO.
Last week I was at the range with all these Rambo wannabes trying to hit a target at 7-15 yards using the largest caliber they could afford. Half of their guns jammed because they were so dirty since no one had taught them that you need to clean a gun after every visit to the range. I started my shooting mine at 25 yards with a 2 inch grouping using a P226 9MM.
When they asked me what kind of gun that was, I responded: "The one that Seals and Marine Recon Special Operators use when they know it's going to be a tough mission". Oh yeah, my son is a Maine scout sniper and that's what he reccommended I buy. What's the primary DHS sidearm? The Sig in 40 SW caliber.
On the other hand, let SWHC and Ruger go crazy. I want Sig to stay small and remain the quality weapon that it is today.
My local Walmart has a couple of Sig 556's now, since they are selling to Walmart these days Im betting they are moving some serious volume.
My local Walmart has a couple of Sig 556's
Steer clear of this model, unless they have corrected their issues..........and they are numerous.
Im an AK kinda guy when it comes to this sort of weaponry, but thanks for the tip I wasnt aware of that.
Apparently there is a open season on kids in HODDIES..... this country is fucked!
What's a HODDIE?
My wife is a HODDIE!

That is a sad situation no doubt and I am sure that shooter will get what he deserves assuming that facts are that this was a murder. I will wait until the investigation is complete and the verdict is in.
Cars kill people everyday so do you drive a bicycle to work in protest of that fact?
Cars kill people everyday so do you drive a bicycle to work in protest of that fact?
_____________________________________________________
Cars are designed to kill? Ah, fool I am, I thought they were designed as a means of transportation.
In the end, it might explain the US citizen car industry, after all.
.
They are when purchased for Chinese citizenism citizens. More blobbing up, more Mongolians run down.
Ah, but pretend it is for humanity because Mongolians were run down by cars and not shot by PR of C rifle
Such is the nature of Chinese citizenism. Fabled past, fabled present, fabled future, all for humanitarian rickshawism.
Yes, sure.
The design of an object is not changed by a purchase action.
.
Ah, appeal to ignorance. So Chinese citizenism designed car exported to US of A for driving over Mongolians? Made me laugh to tears.
Better then to send over Mongolians and instruct them to walk down middle of US of A streets. Then Chinese citizenism blobbing up will be one giant leap forward to its goal.
Ah, humanity. Chinese citizenism citizens hijacking human beings.
But hey, resources when handled by Chinese citizenism citizens, is handled the Chinese citizenism way. Because Chinese citizenism citizen nature is eternal.
Go look up Philly or Camden NJ crime stats, this is an every day occurrence in similar sized city, what makes this crime so special? Becuase Fla has the best 2A laws in the land besides Texas, it's a war against legal, but not so much illegal gun ownership right now.
Eric Holder once said "We have to brainwash americans against guns."
Video: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/holder-in-1995-we-must-brainwash-people-against-guns/
I think Rugers backlog has a lot to do with their new SR1911 that is in high demand. I tried to get one last month from two of my gunstores but they are on backorder for at least three months.
The only other Ruger handgun I own is their .38 LCR Revolver which I love as a conceal carry. My Mother liked mine so much she bought one last month.
My favorite hip gun is my Colt 1911 and my 13 year old son likes the Glock 23.
Rifle wise we like our S&W M7P 5.56 AR-15 and of course the Ak-47, both reliable weapons and ammo is easily found. We reload our .223 ammo ourselves.
Hunting rifle is a Saiko .308 with scope and a Marlin .22 magnum with scope for my son. He is also into compound bows and a pretty good shot with his rig.
And of course no collection is complete without a good 12 gauge shotgun so a Remmington 870 completes that out.
Show them all to your friends, but I can not see any point bragging about your guns in ZH.
Thank you & brgds
Looks more like advise of what to buy to me.
The question is when will you idiots starts shooting each other? Mexico would be great place for you to live. No?
You can commit mass murder there and then dump your victims into ravine, twenty at a time. Maybe you'll start your own Juarez. MX ?
The postings here fit the FBI profile of a 'crazed gunmen': love of guns is their number one trait they all have in common.
How can this county right itself, with so many stupid, selfish sociopaths running around with guns? Guns aren't a substitute for an economy.
It must suck for you living in a country founded by "crazed gunmen" who drafted a "crazed" thing called the 2nd Amendment.
Guns are not a substitute for an economy but they do a fine job of protecting one's microeconomic realm from macroeconomic predators.
No, it must suck to live in countries like Syria and others where they have no guns to defend themselves from tyrany. The reality is that there is crime and criminals don't usually call the police first to let them know who and where they are going to commit their crime so that the police can be there to protect me before the criminal gets there. It is a fact that the police are only minutes away when seconds count.
And for the record, it is our second amendment that protects all the other amendments including the one you are using to speak today.
Ah, that is a good point. Since in US citizenism, guns are meant to defend against tyranny, the conclusion is that there is no tyranny in the US, that the socalled TPTB are freedom friendly.
Else US citizens who are packed to the teeth would use their guns to thwart tyranny.
Bear with it.
.
Can Chinese citizenism citizens admit they are at the root of the current world situation, and not an unfamed Zimbabwean mad thinker or a worshipper of Voodoo?
That would be an atypical revolt indeed.
Nice. Wooo, so relieving. Reality takes care of itself, it does not have to be depicted to be.
Superior ground... Yes, sure.
Can Chinese citizenism citizens admit they are at the root of the current world situation, and not an unfamed Zimbabwean mad thinker or a worshipper of Voodoo?
____________________________________
The Chinese do not have to admit that. They are not at the root of the world current situation. Neither the Zimbabweans or many others.
The current world situation is the result of US citizens.
.
Ah, standing for Chinese citizenism is not that easy as time passes by and obvious facts to deny only grow more obvious.
Denial, more denial, again denial, even more denial. Most obvious facts. Denial seems to lead to consider that raw reality is cryptic.
Chinese citizenism citizens have nothing to do with the Great Lisbon Earthquake, the Battle of Hastings, the Treaty of Westphalia etc...
But hey, the main defense line by Chinese citizenism citizens is strawsman, building fantasy, unable to speak of Chinese citizenism for what it is.
The problem with US citizens these days is that they are increasingly falling prey to Chinese citizenism- being just another drone in the hive directed by the central hive mind and utterly incapable of thought or action on their own.
Or, I carry a gun 'cause a cop is too heavy.
Really? most of the predation is done and I don't see a bankster's corpse anywhere... just wannabee tough guys posing outside their repossessed double-wide.
The 2nd Amendment wasn't drafted to kill bankers dummy.
It was drafted because back when the red coats would take over a Town / neighborhood, they were confiscating all your property, resources and or valuables, animals Gold and Silver et al.
There are Axe marks on the church pews seats right up the street from my house, everytime I see those marks, I think of the Red Coats slaughtering and quartering the local animals to feed themselves.
The colonies back then for the most part were unarmed, under armed or overwhelmed with tierney. Then they became dis-armed.
Our Forefathers drafted that Amendment as a guarentee that it would never happen again.
III%
That would be "tyranny"... and "guarantee" smarty. You might want to read the Patriot Act and the various Homeland Security acts, you will find that you have already been disarmed except in places where you can only harm yourself. The descendants of the redcoats are still safe in the UK.. enjoying their freedom from armed criminals and psychos.
That's strange? I still have my weapon on my hip and my rifles are in my closet, sooo where am I disarmed? After NDAA was signed on 12-30-11 and went live on 3-1-2012 we now live in an Outlaw Regime, so when in Rome I guess huh?
I disarm when I am laying dead flat on my face or the Mags are all empty, I don't negotiate freedom. And that's how We the People Roll... My grandfather told me when I was young, If you live long enough, you will see everything. Iv'e seen enough. For the Republic!
Good day! '

Why are you so scared of somebody who likes guns? Are you just as scared of somebody who likes cars? Cars kill people too. How about knives. Guns have been around in history and before guns it was knives and swords. Before that spears and other items. You enjoy your stamp collection and I will enjoy my guns. I worked for them, I am not a prohibited possessor, and for the record, my FBI Agent brother-inlaw thinks I am just fine and has no problem going target shooting with me, matter of fact, he gets very excited when I call him up to go. And his daughters are pretty good shots too, OMG!
Cars kill people too.

Spoons, light bulbs, bottles, belts, shoe laces, pens, flowers etc...
One must remember in US citizenism, guns do not kill people, people kill people.
Been debunked for ages but hey, if US citizens could escape their nature, it would no longer be eternal.
.
...chopsticks, rickshaws, terra cotta, coconuts etc.
One must remember in Chinese citizenism, PR of C army does not kill Tibetans, PR of C army enslaves Tibetans.
Distorted present, fabled past. Move on, another Chinese citizenism citizen comment.
Mexico, not for me. the ATF is arming the drug cartels.
If the FBI wants to profile they should begin within their own agency, once their house is in order they can move on to the CIA, NSA, ATF and Homeland Security.
Each ABC agency is shot thru with personnel who believe in the Constitution.
This also includes all armed forces, and police.
Not ONE of us will attack our government.
However, nobody will obey illegal orders.
Many of us train each month, or regulary, depending on department.
Ignore an armed, trained, American at your own peril.
There are at least 3 million of us.
We grow each month.
This douche is a paid Fed plant. This is DHS fishing. Ignore him.
How will it right itself? We're going to catapult all you statist sissies into the air for skeet practice, with all of that dead weight ballast gone on the left side of the ship it will right itself a little bit at least.
I hear the U.K. gov't has made the land the place for rightless gun fearing people, sounds like the perfect place for you.
large immediate order from the feds?
Where do they get the metal for these guns? China? If it's anything like my new stainless steel rangehood, they will start to rust in no time!
Doesn't matter, it's called Gun bluing. Even if the steel was from China, it would have to be a very high quality to withstand breech / barrel pressures or else Companies wouldn't have a product to sell.
Gun Bluing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluing_(steel)
All this gun chatter. Americans are insane.
Insane is needing help in seconds when police are minutes, or in Detroit's case, hours away, and not having anything to defend yourself.
Shit, they even banned aluminum baseball-bat sales in the UK after the riots. What are you supposed to do, gnaw on a bad guy with fucked-up serrated yellow teeth and have them sue you because they broke in?
That's insane.
Yea, you gutless europussies can let your children run riot in the streets and get mown down because they have nothing to lose while you cower in your undersized apartments trying to figure out if you have any distinguishing characteristics which might single you out for culling when the next statist of the month's pogrom rolls through...
Facts, only facts, always facts.
In the US of A, the force is so scared of the armed People they wont shoot down a handcuffed man.
And if it was ever to happen, the uproar would be such the US People would not condone the action of the police officer as a way to appease the force.
No, no, nothing like that would happen.
Yet, in the reality, the fallacious argument of the armed people against tyranny is being tested thoroughly. It returns results that do not match that well US citizen thesis.
Statisitics show that deadly force from these gun fetishists is overwhelmingly directed toward themselves and each other. They take cool photos though.. as wannabe soldier-heros.
If your a legally vetted armed American citizen, then your a Patriot, if your not, then your a slave or a criminal.
Eric? Eric Holder? is that you?
The best defense is a good offense. Just talking football, y'all understand.
Fortunately I bought all the guns I will ever need a few years ago.
We went through a simialr ammo shortage not so long ago as everyone was hoarding it for fear of what Obama might do. I take this sold out Ruger situation to mean there are plenty of folks who think he ill be re-elected and will then (along with Nancy, Hillary, and Holder) take away our Constitutional rights.
I operate under the philosophy that two is one and one is none. So I'm trying to duplicate my arsenal.
By-product of public trust betrayed, if not destroyed, by corruption.
Foxconn
Already got my Ruger(s). Lil .22 semi-auto rifle and a semi-auto pistol for plinking. :)
For more serious work I have a S&W Model 19 .357 and a Browning Hi-Power 9mm. Those two stay loaded with HydroShok rounds. I also have a concealed carry permit.
Handguns are nice but I still maintain that the best close in weapon for home defense is what I'm holding in my avatar...a .12g pumpgun with an 18 1/2" barrel. It won't matter if they have body armor or not. The first round with nearly 2000ftlbs of energy will put them on their ass, then after the second, it'll be game over.
Now this is what I'm talking about: Flashlight-to-Glock conversion

I personally do not like the G-Lock, I had a bad experience with my friends once, it was a reciever / barrel defect. I think they sorted that out by now.
Here is the baddest G-Lock in the land.

Trouble with these guns is it makes everyone an infantryman
That's what it was designed to do once the US Government stops working for We the People. The Second Amendment was not drafted for duck hunting or home protection for that matter, it was drafted to fend off a Tyranical Government *if that day may occur in the USA that your Government just happens to well... say, begin assasinations of American citizens, or the Authorization of indefinate internment. Kinda like what was drafted in NDAA S1867.
Read! America will be deemed a "Battlefeild", it's right in the Bill so wake the F up.
SHTF will play no favorites, Free men are armed, slaves are not.
Please read your Constitution. The first Amendment guarentees the second and the second guarentees the first. The reciprocate equally.

?????
You say that like its a bad thing. Kinda sounds like you would prefer to just bow and lick the hand that feeds you.
Would someone please explain what you gun owners are going to do when 15-20 militarized police are working your street, house to house, with a military unit in the neighborhood, demanding and collecting guns? How exactly is that going to work out?
You only need to get one.
Or fire one shot and the whole bunch will do what they do now, duck and cover and call for backup. The 15-20 cops becomes an additional 15-20 military types. Then they try and figure out where the shot(s) came from before moving an inch. So one guy using one shot ties up 30-40 'gun collectors' for hours and he disappears down an alley. Now if you only get 10% of the reported 100 million gun owners to do this, how many cops and military are you going to need? Especially if only 10% of the current LEO's and military will stand for disarming and shooting their neighbors? And you realize those people have to go 'home' right? But that's not going to be to your nice quiet street with your patrol car parked in the driveway because you might as well hang a big target on your house...
Why would they wait at home like sitting ducks?
Where I live we do a lot of long range hunting. There is probably a couple thousand guys and gals around here that have the gear and the skill to kill a Deer or Elk at 600 yards. Mostly 30 cal bullets traveling at 3,000 fps. I see gun collection as a very dangerous hobby.
True they didn't in Iraq, but they were planting bombs and no one here is talking about making IEDs
Same thing you do when you're at an interview and they ask if you smoke weed.
Fight side by side with them. You really think the American Armed forces don't know what's really going on? Bring in the UN and we will sort them out.
Well, if you have one of these, I'd say the odds sound about even.

I would die. They would back off and have a drone nuke me. But I'm in the woods so it will take them a while to have the time to screw with me.
Not going to happen where I live. What you are no doubt entirely unaware of is that in the aftermath of the Katrina uproar pretty much every state in the south passed a law saying that even under martial law citizens do not have to give up their guns. It hardly got a mention in the New York/DC/LA axis media.
Have you ever looked at who actually makes up the military, and where they come from? The actual fighting troops are overwhelmingly from the south and midwest, guys from the big northern and left coast cities just dont sign up much and dont become trigger pullers when they do. Your really think the average southern or western small town or rural guy that makes up the actual fighting component of the military is going to start disarming those same areas? Not gonna happen.
I'll tell you exactly what would happen in your scenario- the imported police from Boston, NY, or California (the only types that would do such a thing) would get cut to pieces by a combination of county law enforcement and local guys. Town and county cops encourage people to get carry permits here. On my street there is gunfire all the time- but there is no crime. In the example you give the 15-20 imported "law enforcement" types would get hit at a range of 2-300 yards from the woods by guys in heavy camo with scoped hunting rifles that will tear right through their body armor, and they would be fertilizing the pastures in short order.
We technically live in the same country, but entirely different worlds.
I can think of nothing more provocative for bringing out the bullets, and the guns to deliver them with.
Here is a nice little gun.........I recently bought 2 Henry 22 lever action rifles. Maybe not as convenient as semi auto but I really like these. Cheap ammo, fun as hell to target practice. Pretty accurate. Oh...and made in the US. My guess is if you shot someone with one of these and it wasn't a head hit it might not have the devasitating effect of a larger gun but I sure bet the person getting hit would pause long enough to say "oh fuck" that you can get another shot off and finish them.
I have several others, Marlin 30/30 for distant assholes, all the way to my 10ga double barrel. One of my fav guns is my 12ga semi-auto. My least favorite is my Glock. That Glock is just fkn noisy and imo one of the harder to be accurate weapons that I have. Of course for running around the house and close up shit it would be preferable. My neighbor just got the AR40 assault rifle I want to go check that out.
BTW nearly every week when the weather is nice our pasttime is copius beer, 4 wheelers and guns. There's a bridge out here in the middle of nowhere that looks like a professional firing range lol.
.
The CFO blew it. Why would a company give away profit margin just to build up a backlog so big they have to stop taking orders?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBPxZMUzHeE&feature=related
Just FYI.
What I havent seen mentioned here yet is that they kinda got caught by surprise by the success of their own promos- Ruger ran a "buy 10 get one free" program for dealers early in the year and also has a points sytem for free guns to dealers. It went over bigger then they anticipated.
Buy Beretta. One of the best bar none besides Sig Sauber.
There is a big gun show going on in WNC this weekend. I've been planning on going for a couple of months but with a gun frenzy on again prices will be outrageous. Thankfully I already have what I need.
That's not a gun, this is a gun:
http://barrett.net/firearms/model82a1
An armed (and trained) citizenry makes any would-be dictator think twice about trying to subjugate said citizens. That alone might prevent what we fear. And that rationale was part of the reason for the Second Amendment being in the Bill of Rights.
Couple that fact with the military and police undoubtedly splitting, possibly even at the higher mid-levels of these organizations, and nothing is sure but a very long, protracted, uncertain battle with even the aspiring dictator's life in the balance.
That is why I have hope that we can avoid the worst. I see nothing but pleasure-seeking, craven cowards in our political class who will avoid the worst, if it can not be made easy.
Thomas Jefferson said ' the second amendment wouldn't matter until the government tried to take it away'. True dat!
I think you're probably right, which is why "their" strategy is to nibble around the edges, ban this, regulate that, outlaw or tax something else, look to restrictive UN treaties to be enforced here in the US, etc. Make no mistake, "these people" are going to come in through the back door, not the front.
All I have is my gramps Dan Wesson .44 mag (8" barrel) with "We The People..." engraved across the barrel. Barely kicks and accurate as can be. I am looking for a .44 Ruger rifle, so that's my only load. If I have to head for the woods-I might get a dear or a bear to eat with it. Not sure how effective against bad guys, but man you feel like Clint with that bastard in your mitts.
Kinda like my Marlin 1894 lever. 10 shot tubular.
If your an anti 2A bleeding heart Libtard, you better remember OUR American History books about the Revolution.
Don't knock on a Patriots door begging for any help at SHTF after having a History of being un American.

It's odd that with this rapid accumulation of firearms by the citizenry, and in the face of increased economic disparity and hardship, major/violent crime in the US is going down.
"Steady Decline in Major Crime Baffles Experts"
https://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/24/us/24crime.html?_r=1
"The number of violent crimes in the United States dropped significantly last year, to what appeared to be the lowest rate in nearly 40 years, a development that was considered puzzling partly because it ran counter to the prevailing expectation that crime would increase during a recession"
So much for the experts. I guess they didn't factor in the heightened potential for getting shot while committing a crime.
It can change on a dime.Thats why people are arming.Crime stats are meaningless.
Marlin is a great rifle and I just bought me my first lever action which was a 30-30. Had a lot of fun shooting it last weekend and got the bruises to prove it..lol
The gun boom just tells America will go down with a bang, not a whimper.
I've recently watched some U.S. prepper tv programs, and it seems most people in the U.S. think it is normal that after some major catastrophe (flood, virus, nuclear explosion etc.) there will be widespread anarchy, looting etc. If you don't have a particular resource, many people seem to think it is OK to take it from somebody else by force.
Things will probably happen in the U.S. that way, but how was it in Japan after the recent tsunami or Kobe earthquake before that? Was there a widespread anarchy? Did people go "foraging"? I think most Japanese will rather suffer - even die - quietly than dump their own problems on somebody else.
I love weapons of all kinds, but there are other ways for human beings to react to problems than violence and lawlessness. Just saying...
Japan is a homogenous society, this one is not. Their people are an "us", Americans are not. I think here you would see local communities banding together very well in such a disaster, but outsiders would be in deep trouble.
"Japan is a homogenous society, this one is not. Their people are an "us", Americans are not."
If the U.S. would break up into smaller pieces, would the division be along regional or ethnic lines?
In my opinion, regional at first and over time this would likely sort itself out by ethnicity to a degree. I think you would see a more localized government in the South, some of the Midwest, and non coastal West but how many of the millions of blacks in the South would want to stay in a system with a minimized safety net? I think it more likely they would relocate to a Northeastern social democracy.
