French Magazine Portrays Prophet Mohammad Naked In Cartoons, Set To Further Infuriate Muslim World

Tyler Durden's picture

It's almost as if someone is actively trying to force the Muslim world to launch an all out war against the "developed" west. A week ago, it was a film mocking Mohammad which led to the death of the US ambassador in Libya. Today, it is a French magazine which has ridiculed the Prophet Mohammad by portraying him naked in cartoons, which, as Reuters logically adds, "threatens to fuel the anger of Muslims around the world who are already incensed by a film depiction of him as a womanizing buffoon." It is as if the anti-Iran strategy of antagonizing the country to its breaking point, merely so the first attack comes from them in response to endless provocations, and a defensive retaliation can be spun to the "free world", has now been adopted against the entire Muslim world now, and all the insolvent Western countries are praying they get attacked just so the media spin will coalesce the sheep around the "developed" democracies in an all out "retaliatory" assault, which among other things, liberates tens of millions of barrel of oil equivalents, even as it spreads democracy and unlimited credit cards.

Naturally, just as in the case of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula video, where the US government promptly washed its hands but not before condemning the response, so here too, the French administration has promptly bashed the cartoon. Of course, it is just this "freedom" that the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo had, that the Muslim world supposedly "hates us for." Needless to say, the damage has already been done and the second major provocation against the Muslim world by the west, with a mass response that will be no surprise to anyone, has been launched. One of these days the desired reaction to the endless battery of provocations will finally take place.

From Reuters:

The French government, which had urged the magazine not to print the images, said it was temporarily shutting down premises including embassies and schools in 20 countries on Friday, when protests sometimes break out after Muslim prayers.

Riot police were deployed to protect the Paris offices of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo after it hit the news stands with a cover showing an Orthodox Jew pushing the turbaned figure of Mohammad in a wheelchair.

On the inside pages, several caricatures of the Prophet showed him naked. One, entitled "Mohammad: a star is born", depicted a bearded figure crouching over to display his buttocks and genitals.

Initial reaction from Muslim countries was critical.

"Of course it will anger people further. It will raise tensions that were already dangerously high," said Sheikh Nabil Rahim, a leading Salafist cleric in Lebanon.

"We will try to keep things managed and peaceful, but these things easily get out of hand. I fear there could more targeting of foreigners, and this is why I wish they would not persist with these provocations."

In Egypt, Essam Erian, acting head of the powerful Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, told Reuters: "We reject and condemn the French cartoons that dishonor the Prophet and we condemn any action that defames the sacred according to people's beliefs."

...

Charlie Hebdo has a long reputation for being provocative. Its Paris offices were firebombed last November after it published a mocking caricature of Mohammad, and Charbonnier has been under police guard ever since.

Speaking outside his offices in an eastern neighborhood with many residents of North African origin, Charbonnier said he had not received any threats over the latest cartoons. In a message on its Twitter account, Charlie Hebdo said its website had been hacked, but referred readers to a blog it also uses.

The French Muslim Council, the main body representing Muslims in France, accused Charlie Hebdo of firing up anti-Muslim sentiment at a sensitive time.

"The CFCM is profoundly worried by this irresponsible act, which in such a fraught climate risks further exacerbating tensions and sparking damaging reactions," it said.

Well, as long as their hatred of our freedoms continues, all shall be well.

France has a large and growing Muslim population. Many are young, enemployed and angry. A bad mix. Europe has sufferred from white and christian guilt ever since world war II.  I hardly believe that going Muslim is going to make Europe better. It is not in anyway part of the european tradition, it is unique to it's setting and I doubt will transfer well to Northern Europe.

I expect in 2 decades time that some incident will rip Europe apart along christain / muslim lines. By then Muslims will be a significant fraction of Europe's population. It may be very ugly.

I know from my visits to Sweden and Denmark that local Muslims there are hardly integrated into society. Sometimes you smell the tension in the air there.

“The Innocence of Muslims”: Blasphemy as a Political Tactic | Global Research By Thierry Meyssan

September 15, 2012 (excerpt)

The film was produced by a Zionist group composed of Jews of double Israeli-American nationality and by an Egyptian Copt. It was completed several months ago but was released at a calculated moment to provoke riots targeting the United States.

Israeli agents were deployed in several large cities with a mission to channel the rage of the crowd against American or Coptic targets (though not Israeli ones). Not surprisingly, their maximum effect was attained in Benghazi, the capital of Libya’s Cyrenaica region

Today's column by Justin Raimondo, The ‘Pro-Israel’ Network Behind the Innocence Video on Antiwar.com  begins:

“If someone had planned to upend US foreign policy — to utterly destroy the very basis [.pdf] of all our diplomats (and military personnel) have been working to achieve in the Middle East and throughout the Muslim world — they couldn’t have done a better job of it than whoever put together Innocence of Muslims.

“As violent protests spread, the consequences continue to roll in: the suspension of joint US-Afghan military operations, the suspension of US aid talks with Egypt, the rapid decline of US prestige in the region, and the growing influence of the radical Islamist movement US support for the “Arab Spring” was designed to counter. The Obama administration’s effort to split the I”

"Was the release of the video a random event, one of those unpredictables that can arise at any moment to foil the best-laid plans...?”

Did you know there are 751  Zones Urbaines Sensibles (AKA"No-Go" zones) in France?

What are they? Those places in France that the French state does not control. They range from two zones in the medieval town of Carcassone to twelve in the heavily Muslim town of Marseilles, with hardly a town in France lacking in its ZUS. The ZUS came into existence in late 1996 and according to a 2004 estimate, nearly 5 million people live in them.

Bizarre commentary. "Second major provocation"? I guess you're buying into apologist rationalizations for Muslim violence against the West. Here's a clue, these nutters have already declared war against the West, they don't need rationalizations or apologists. Yes, let's let the Islamic world define our liberties.

Have you ever wondered why the people of these countries are still "backward"? Maybe it is because the ruling Arab elites have used all of their oil wealth to buy apartments in London, estates in Monaco and Yachts instead of spending the wealth on enlightening and improving the lives of the common "Muslim" citizens. The elites on both sides have a vested interest in keeping us all down so that the rest of us are divided and want to start wars. Do any of the elite's children actually fight these wars? Not these days. They just sit back and watch us fight over semantics so that we keep our minds off the continued destruction of the broader economy and the massive consolidation of wealth. Enjoy the show!

YellingFIRE!” in a crowd doesn't a "free speech hero" make. Antiwar.com’s Justin Raimondo puts it more eloquently, using the deliberate conflagration caused by the Innocence video to impale the perpetrators:

“The idea that these vermin, who deliberately set out to make a ‘movie’ that would inflame the Muslim world, are ‘free speech’ heroes is worse than nonsense: it is valorizing villains.

“We don’t yet know where the money, or the impetus to make the film, came from, but what we do know is this: the driving force behind Innocence was a desire to create an international incident that would bring discredit on the United States, and empower radical Islamists who hate America and everything it stands for. And the promoters of this garbage pose as ‘patriots’! ...

“Defense of the Jewish state is a major theme of the Islamophobe network: they use it as a shield to deflect criticism. A key leader of this network is former New Leftist and Black Panther groupie David Horowitz: his “David Horowitz Freedom Center” (formerly the Center for the Study of Popular Culture), sponsors Spencer’s “Jihad Watch.” Horowitz’s “Frontpage” site — ablaze with stories decrying the “betrayal” of Israel by the American government and the perfidy of all things Islamic — recently speculated Innocence was created by the very Salafists now leading the protests.

"Since the video sprang from the same bigoted milieu of which Frontpage is the online, it isn’t hard to imagine where the money to create this deadly provocation came from. Of the many millions in neocon money sloshing around this country, it’s hardly inconceivable a hundred thousand or so would find its way into the hands of a twice-convicted felon and all around dubious character like Nakoula, who is, I suspect, just a con man rather than an ultra-Zionist ideologue like the promoters of his work.’

“Although, to be sure, the difference is altogether negligible.”

Muslims have been taught that violence is how you spread your religion. They have no evangelistic tools to win hearts and minds, they use the sword to convert people. If you don't think your god can't defend himself against unbelievers, than your god is to small.

A Christian is a follower of Christ and this portrayal of Muslims sounds more like Zionism than Islam.

Paul’s advice to Christians in Romans 14:16 was: “Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil…”

I suspect that the many anti-Muslim comments here are part of an opportunity by the Zionists to label the Muslims as an enemy in this presidential campaign in order to force pro-Israel commitments from the candidates. If the pro-Israel forces have anyone on payroll, you can bet they’ve got them out now.

JR,

Reading through all of the comments here, I would say their is plenty of hatred and bias being spewed by Zionist, Islamist, and "Christians"

I almost hesitate to comment because of all the vile hateful responses.

I guess all I will say is we(the world) lack civility in our conversations and it results in what we see now.

I am a Christian, by that I mean I am a disciple of Christ and it is an ongoing journey of faith and love, but by me saying I am a Christian in America, automatically I get thrown into the conservative evangelical camp, which is not me.

Saying one is a Christian, means different things to different people, in fact I believe the latest statistic is around 41,000 different denominations in the Christian Faith.

So all I would say to all those who are Followers of Christ on ZH is remember I Corinthians 13 and apply it to your daily walk...apply to those whom you love and to strangers and even to those who don't love you.  Let others see Christ in you.  Be humble and not prideful, admit when you are wrong and apologize, forgive when you are offended even if you are not asked to and hold no grudge.

Continue in prayer and fasting stay in the word.

God Bless

Yes, application of God’s kind of love is directed outward, not inward toward oneself – therein is man’s hope for peace. It is documented that "of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence, nearly half (24) held seminary or Bible school degrees."

John Adams
2nd U.S. President and Signer of the Declaration of Independence

"Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be."

I listen to all this...and most of us descend into irrelevant discussion, as is our entertainment.

The point is the hypocrisy. The hypocrisy that Presidents, leaders, etc. will only apologize for satire that may offend muslims. They never apologize (nor should they in my opinion) for the satirical insults of any other faith. it's only the muslims that get to be treated like the little sensitive spoiled child that will cry if he/she doesn't get his cookie before bedtime, and our politicians are the enabling, pathetically weak, parent that runs to the kitchen for two more Oreo's and a glass of milk to make the whining child happy. In the end, the child grows up to be miserable and gets to be the star of Bridezilla or Honey Boo Boo.

Politicians should behave like real adults, recognize the separation of church and state, and free speech.

A lot of 'americans' care.

Typically, the kind of events 'americans' relish to fake a dedication to freedom of speech.

THEY ARE INCREDIBLY BRAVE AT THIS MAGAZINE!

Of course, a while back, a cartoonist was fired for "antisemitism" when he suggested Sarkozy's boy had converted to Judaism for reasons of social advancement, and they'd never suggest that the number of victims of the Jewish Holocaust was exaggerated in order to increase support/sympathy for the Zionist goal of ethnically cleansing the "homeland*" - but come on, you go to jail for 'questioning' any 'facts' about the Holocaust.

Still - nothing better than the intellectual avant garde helping to further divide Christians and Muslims.

...if Banzai was not such a big pussie, lmao, a nice depiction of mirror images would be nice about now. I can see three that come to mind that are perfect. One is Allah's image standing with a a WMD in hand and no reflection in the mirror, the other is a Novus Ordo Seclorum Drag Queen (and a Nobel Prize, LMAO) with a WMD in hand and no reflection in the mirror. Then, there is Christ standing fast in front of a mirror with His image in the mirror. LMAO.

...then the next scene has Allah and Rosemary's Baby with their heads turned to Christ as Christ says ''drop the bomb and you will see your image''

...next scene is smoke in front of Allah's and Rosemary's Baby's mirrors and Christ saying, ''no, I did not mean drop the bomb as in blow yourself up, you dummies!''

...of course you could throw in a whole host of persons in front of mirrors, like Chairsatan as the suicide vampire squid, holding a money printing machine bomb labeled WMD, LOL. Yeah, he should be there, it fits the whole ''vampires don't have a reflection in the mirror'' theme. LMAO.

P.S. Oh please all you MR. Down Arrow people, you are so weak you cannot post a defense for your claim.

Hard to know if the 'american' french behind the edition have such grand plan, but they had one for sure: the quick buck.

Typically, this is the kind of instance 'americans' love to rally around and claim they promote freedom of speech.
So easy to imagine that the peculiar issue must be sold out. With possible reprinting.

Again, just for faking.

How is it freedom of speech by 'american' standards?(useless to introduce anything alien)

The FF told what they understood by free speech and that is deepely connected to subversion as to speaking against a power in position.

Once again, it will be exhibited that muslims has no power to censor this kind of drivel. Making it that 'americans' are pouring their words on powerless people.
Where is the freedom of speech as understood by the FF themselves?

All these events are very good because they exhibit how duplicitous 'americans' are.

In the meantime, if a person has the sad idea to try and use freedom of speech and speak against 'american' established power, better not to expect large support from 'americans' and a magazine wont deliver a sold out issue, for sure.

That is the way of US citizens and their nature is eternal.

I repeat the comment again "why not make a movie poking fun at the holocaust and see what happens" I Dare any magazine or news outlet to do so!! But we all know what would happen.

For those of you minions, singing the freedom of expression song, Can any major news outlet dare criticize the "chosen zionists "? of course not, For heaven's sakes, it's illegal to question their holocaust!! But then again you got used to take in without Vaseline.

First for the record I think human civility should prevent any one faith belittling another faith in cartoons art or movies.

But to answer your question there has been caracitures making fun of the Holocaust done in Iran and published in a newspaper(albeit not a western newspaper) but I do believe it is relevant as no major muslim or arabic or persian newspaper would poke fun at Muhammed either.

Lets face it. 99% of them being pissed is having Israel in their midst, like a thorn in your foot. So actually, what has Irael done for the US lately to make up for all the shit we do for them?

Answer: Exactly nothing, except trying to force us into a conflict with Iran. But lets face it, without all the Jewish fund raising over here you just about cannot get elected anymore.

Oops, forgot about the covert assasination jobs we don't want to do ourselves....

Nope - fake quotes.  There's lot to dislike in the Talmud [and Koran and Old T] but much of the anti-Jesus stuff on the intertubes are fabrications.

http://www.minuteswithmessiah.com/question/kkk.html

On the other hand, Chabad Lubavitch is an organization of Ultra-Nationalist Jews who openly espouse all manner of racism and Jewish Supremacism taken by literal interpretation of the genuine racist/xenophobic passages of the Torah and Talmud {plenty of those - jeez, read Deuteronomy or Joshua - the low regard of outsiders by the Hebrews should absolutely not shock or surprise - they committed genocide to clear land that 'G-d' apparently give good title too without massive carnage - cute, huh?]

- and they get to go to the White House and light their Chanukkah triumphalist display right across from the WH.

Cute, eh>?

Remember - it's free speech to insult Islam, it's "racist" to point out the racism in the Talmud.
